This book is a world of Gothica, which is discovered through poetry and prose.

The first half of the book is the poetry…

My Phoenix a short poem about rebirth, self-belief and what it means to be believed in. I absolutely loved it.

Rock the Boat - a wonderful piece of advice: to be who you are and, if it comes to it, tip the damn boat over. Tremendous.

Silence - brilliant. I smiled. In my living room and to myself, I smiled.

The second half of the book is the prose…

Still poetic and rather beautiful. Calm Words is a favourite, about a relationship, broken, turned into friendship because life is too short to cut everyone out. I like that.

Doesn’t mean I could be friends with my exes, but it’s a nice thought.

Contemplation - stunning. About late night thoughts, drowned out by a piano, but we are who we are. The writing is delicate but uncompromising. It’s full of passion and meaning and I revelled in it.

Inner Strength is vital and I know there will be days when I need to dip back into that one.

Dark, thoughtful and romantic, lots of ravens and vampires and talk of immortality, I really liked this collection. Some profound and beautiful thoughts, and I know a fair few goths who would love this.

Dark, but deeply satisfying reflections seen from a different perspective.

This almost phantasmagoric collection of poetry and prose reflects on thoughts from a darker yet satisfying perspective. Fans of the works of Edgar Allen Poe will appreciate this collection, as the raven appears as a constant companion of the author, and the writing is strongly reminiscent of the old master. The ability of a mind plagued by troubles and yet able to conjure up light from the depths of a darker world makes this a fascinating and subtlety enjoyable volume to read and to re-read in the future as well.
