I’m Henrietta Morgan, Pitkin County’s newly elected sheriff. The ice along the river’s edge doesn’t make climbing out easy, but that’s mid-December in Aspen for you. No one in the area has been reported missing, nor is anyone complaining about having lost a hand. That means some stranger has died among us, probably murdered. Otherwise, why would anyone cut off a body part and dump it into the river? The crazies are out in force. I organize a search for the rest of the victim, and that confirms our worst fears. We find about half of a young woman, all cut up with a meat saw and tossed away like yesterday’s garbage. My next task is to figure out who she was. That always turns out to be tougher than it should be. In this day and age of Big Tech surveillance, how can anyone disappear? Google and Facebook see every time I walk out the door. I know that because they send me ads for the closest donut shop. Bottom line—a depraved killer is in our midst, and he is twisted enough to attack anybody, including any cop like me on his trail. Michael Arches moved to the Denver, Colorado area in the early 1980’s, and he has never left. Before coming to Denver, he had lived in eight different places, but he and his wife settled down in Colorado and raised their family here. The natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains attracted him here in the first place, and he’s still finding precious jewels in them there hills to write about.

Awesome Thriller

What I liked about this book was the suspense and what was waiting behind the doors. What I didn't like is they never give Hank the benefit of the doubt, Randy tries to, but he thinks he is better than she is. I would recommend to read all the 3 books. Thank you.
