The Quasar Lineage #10

Brock's Beloved

Rate this book

Brock
I know the first time I see mating marks on my body that something is different about them from all the others I’ve seen. Of course, I’ve always been different. Larger than most males, I’m the first of the Mayten Family Line to serve in the Space Fleet Program on the Discovery.
Becoming a medical doctor and meeting Atticus has literally been life saving. After being exposed to my sadistic future Promised on Quasar, there have many sleepless nights to come to terms with what my future will truly be.
Now, all that’s changed. But am I too different from my Quasar brothers to be unconditionally accepted by an Earth female? Will she be able to trust me the way I need?

Brittney
When I land a customer service position almost immediately out of high school, I prove that I can handle anything thrown my way. It’s my mantra. I’ll do anything to keep from being a continual burden on my mother and society. After all, it’s only a matter of time before I’m in a wheelchair and most likely—trapped at home.
When I’m offered a chance to be healed, there really isn’t anything that could make me turn it down. Even finding out my new mate comes from the most volatile lineage in their society. After all, I can talk down the most irrational idiots. How different could this be?
What I don’t expect, is to enjoy it. But his possessiveness and dominating personality does strange things to me. And I like it…

Not one of my favorites when it comes to this series. There is a lot more sex than ongoing plot in this one. Even tho the sex is Hot, I couldn't have done with a little less.

Basically most of this book is a recap of all that happened in Atticus's story. The story and ongoing plot regarding the Marel and Quasar finally starts evolving more at the end of the book. So basically I was a bit bored and disappointed by this story but I was entertained and intrigued when the Marels came into the picture.

I still enjoy this series very much and I'm already excited for the next book. Really curious who it will be about.

I hope the next book will involve less sex and more plot evolution. This business with the females needs to be dealt with and hopefully it will happen in the next story, along with the arrival of the second Marel ship.

Love the Quasar males

This wa another good book in the series, although seemed shorter than some of the others. The betrayal of the men seems to be even deeper than previously hinted at and this arc is woven into each of the individual love stories. Can't wait for the next one!

10 is the Loneliest Number 😻

The idea of this book is a unique one. The Warriors🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪 are big hunky guys looking for love💕, and the women are looking for love💕 and a cure to their life threatening illnesses.
Mating marks prove that the two in this book belong together.
I just couldn't get into this book, which is the tenth in this series. Some of it, in the beginning, didn't make any sense and the reader should not have to read previous books to figure out what is going on in the current book. The books should be stand alone volumes.

ARC Received from Booksprout🌱
I also got the ebook with KU.

This definitely an ADULT novel with numerous scenes throughout. There is some very crude wording involved, which really was not a turn on.

This is the tenth story in the The Quasar Lineage series. You don't HAVE to read the previous stories to understand this one, but it really helps to understand about the Quasar society and how the Earth women are chosen. In each story, you are reintroduced to some or most of the women from the previous stories. This particular story runs at the same time as Atticus's Angel since they both work in the Medical Center and they both get their mates at the same time.

I have really enjoyed reading this series so far and looking forward to reading more. Outstanding world-building and the characters and their backgrounds are superb! I really enjoy seeing how these men who are warriors but are expecting to become nothing but a harem boy, at best, once they reach a certain age and get their Ermada, and they have to give up the rest of their life for her. Seeing how they treasure their new human mates is great. Seeing human women get treated the way they have always deserved to be by these big hulking men is heartwarming.

Brittney was diagnosed with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy at the age of 12. What that means is that eventually she will be wheelchair bound. She lives with her mother and has a job right out of high school in customer service but it is getting to the point where she is going to be more of a burden for her mother than she already is. She has a strange dream where she is offered a chance to be medically cured, but she will have to leave Earth and everything there to become a bride for an alien male. Similar to The Matrix's, choose the red or the blue pill. If she chooses to stay on Earth, this will just be a silly dream. If she chooses to go, she will remember the dream and will be teleported away immediately.

Brock is on the Discovery ship as part of the Medical team with Atticus, who is showing him the ropes. He is the first of his family to do so. He has already met his prospective Ermada (wife). She is sadistic to say the least. He is hoping to be lucky like some on the ship and find his fated mate and get his Mating Marks. When he meets Brittney, he knows she is perfect for him. She helps to calm him when he gets agitated and has memories of his Ermada. She is also the perfect fit for him in the medical center.

3 1/2 stars Warning light bondage and consensual spanking. This is a good series. I've read several of these books and have a couple of more I've yet to read. I like the concept of fated mates and mating marks. The world building is excellent and you really feel for the aliens and their situation. The author doesn't say it but the males are in a state of slavery to the females. I also like the concept of finding women with genetic diseases to be their mates. The men get to experience love for the first time in their lives and the mates get healed. And love of course.
You do need to read Atticus's Angel first because this book tells much of the same story but from a different perspective. There is information in Atticus's story that will make this story a little clearer. Though there is information in this book that isn't in the other and it extends past the end of the other book. If you don't read any of the other stories read these two. They are like one long book and Atticus's angel tells you enough that you don't have to read the previous books.
Two for me big negatives. First the editing. The author did say this is a rough draft but it was really bad and there is a history of bad editing in her books. So I'm going somewhere in the middle assuming that the editing will be improved but don't hold out hope of it being excellent though she might surprise me. Second there is way too much sex. There were other topics she could have expounded on instead. Don't get me wrong, the author is a very good writer but I believe a story should be more about the plot than sex. You do get a good story and this book answers alot of questions and gives an ending to Atticus's angel which I didn't feel ended on a conclusion of the story being kind of a cliffhanger. So I deducted a little for sex and editing but I definitely recommend these books. The stories are worth any flaws.

Brock is from the Mayten line he is the first to enter the space fleet program his medical studying is completed now he works under Atticus on the Discovery, the males in his line are larger and fiercest of most males and everyone fears him but Brock doesn’t want that. Brittney works as a customer service rep for a credit card company she’s 19 now and at the age of 12 she was diagnosed with limb- girdle muscular dystrophy she uses a cane to walk around and eventually her muscles will give up and she will end up in a wheelchair, she lives with her mother and she works two jobs she won’t let herself have a life and Brittney feels like a burden. While cooking her food on the stove she went to her bedroom to put her P.J’s on then there was a flash of light it was so bright and it was coming from outside her window but before Brittney has a chance to panic she blacks out. While in the medical bay Brock hears a commotion outside he’s feeling hot and breathless so he goes and has a look all of the men are shouting with joy they have their mating marks so Brock rips his top down and yes he has one too he’s overjoyed and he knows where his mate is she’s on the prison planet underneath him he feels a pull to her he wants to go and get her but he has to wait. When Brittney wakes up she is standing in a small living room she doesn’t feel any pain and she twirls around suddenly there is a woman standing in front of her she says that her name is Janette and that she is there to make her an offer but she told Brittney that she they can cure her of her disease if she goes to live on an alien planet and have an alien as a mate, Brittney thought that this was a joke but Janette told her if she wanted to go to press the green button but if she didn’t then press the red one but Brittney didn’t have to think twice she pressed the green button. Wow what an amazing story I loved it and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Brock was the first of the Mayten Family Line to serve in the Space Fleet Program on Quasar and is a medical doctor on the Discovery. Atticus is teaching him the systems that they use in their work. When Atticus and Brock start to gasp for air, Brock notices mating marks appearing on them, as well as on others in the hallway outside the medical bay door. Brock’s marks are very dark, more of them than the others have and, as he looks at their pattern, they look eerily familiar to him!

Brittney has an irreversible genetic disease, limb-girdle muscular dystrophy diagnosed when she was 12 -- that means it is only a matter of time until she ends up in a wheelchair. She doesn’t want to be a burden to her mom. So when she is given a chance to be healed, she accepted the deal, leaving Earth to join her alien mate. Although she was told that her mate comes from the most volatile lineage in their society, she is not upset by the fact, figuring that if she can talk down the most irrational idiots in her customer service job, handling a difficult alien won’t be a problem.

Brock and Brittany connect right away without any hesitation. Brock also finds that Brittany is able calm him when he needs it. She is definitely the one he needs in his life. Will their mating work out? What will the future bring to them?

I struggled with the first part of the book because I hadn’t read any of the previous books (although I purchased the entire series). But it became easier as I continued and the story line was very good. Both Brock and Brittney were great characters who were really good together. I look forward to reading more of this series.

My favorite out of the series. (I have a size kink)
I love me some big-than-average alien stud muffins 😉❤️
(Also I kept thinking about Brock from Pokémon…😂)

Trigger warning: gore, violence, past sexual assault(Hero’s Ermada forced herself on him)

First person, dual POVs.
Heroine(Brittney) is a virgin, hero(Brock) is not.
Fated mates trope; insta-love/lust.
Book plot really kicks in around the last 30% of the book.

Lots of steamy smex scenes~🌶💯 (even more compared to book 1)
Contains: rough sex, spanking, deep throat🌶

Sex don’t right!
None of that thrust-big-alien-🍆-in-one-go BS like other books of the same genre! Dick of that sheer size can rip the vaginal opening no matter how “wet” the female is. 🤦‍♀️

Hero Brock has past sexual trauma with his “Ermada.”
(Ermadas are the female leading figures of Quasar. They all have male harems.) oh and he is around the heroine’s age in Quasar years.

Heroine is a 19 year old who is diagnosed with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. In exchange for a cure she gets a soulmate and a chance of a new life on a new planet.

They both are mature beyond their years from the shit they’ve been through in life. No bratty teenager tantrums.

Happy ending!

Would I re-read this book again on my free time? Even though this is my fav book of the serious, the answer is still no. 😔 the lacks that last big of magic for me.

BUT I do highly recommend to read this book at least once!

I thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi romance romp. I loved the hero and how sweet and caring he was with the heroine. His sexual dominance in bed was something both his heroine and I really enjoyed, too! The heroine of this novel was so accepting of the hero and his differences, and I loved the fact that she experienced not even a second of hesitation when it came to murdering the bad guys of this novel in cold blood! I always enjoy a romance novel heroine who does not hesitate to pull the trigger. The hero and heroine were shown to be well matched as a couple and their devotion to each other gave me all the warm fuzzies. One content warning is that the bad guys in this novel were an insectoid alien species who eats people. If people eating by evil villains is one of your hard limits, maybe give this novel a pass. This novel was a four star read for me except for one thing. The editing was very poorly done. There were so many typos and wrong word choices per page that there was a fair bit of mental translating I had to do. That was the only major drawback this novel had, though. A great Kindle Unlimited read, but something I would maybe not buy a keeper copy of until it is re-edited. An all around great sci-fi romance romp. I read this while I was sick, and it kept my morale up.

Brock was the first of the Mayten Family the oldest line and a secretive line to serve in the Space Fleet Program on Quasar. Brock is a medical doctor on the Discovery when a light appears he receives his mating marks along with some of the crew. Meanwhile Brittany is suffering from a irreversible genetic disease, limb-girdle muscular disorder, diagnosed when she was 12 yrs old. She's visited by Janette who tells her she's been chosen as a mate to a alien. If she chooses to mate, she will be cured or she can refuse and become incapacitated from the disease. She agrees and when she meets Brock there is a fiery attraction between them that explodes. When Brock joins a team to escort two ladies to find their mates on Quasar, they get capture by the Marel and taken on their ship. When Brock finds out what the Marel are doing to his people with the Quasar Council's help, he goes on a rampage. Can Brittany bring Brock back from his rage? I enjoyed reading this story about Brock and Brittany in this series. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.

Brock meets Brittany and their chemistry is electric!
by sewsummore

By not reading any of the previous books in the series I found myself totally lost at times not knowing their back ground when new characters appeared. It was obvious that they form an integral part in the continuing series so take my advice and read earlier books first. Though the storyline seemed disjointed at times there was plenty going on to get me excited about, the main character Brock is a member of an elite family, he was to be mated with the female of a second elite family but somewhere is the middle of the series another group called the Ashen step in and arrange human mates with Brock and many others of his race. This is the first book in the series that I have read and it left me wanting to read more in the series. I have only given four stars for this review because of my confusion with the characters. A list of who and what the main characters in the beginning of the book would have helped a lot.

This is one of my favorite books in the series so far. I really like Brock and Brittney's story. He is from the Mayten family which is one of the larger and more primitive lines. His mating needs are more aggressive and he becomes a berserker when his mating rage takes over. Thank goodness Brittney is given lots of knowledge about him on her trip to meet Brock because she understands his needs and abilities more than he does.

The story contains a new slant on the situation at home on Quasar and a mystery about males being sent off planet from an earlier book. It also sets up a lot of information for the next few books with 2 Earth females waiting to meet their mates on their planet and the role they will play on bringing out truths about the corruption in the ruling female council and family lines. I can hardly wait for those females to receive what they deserve.

I really like this series. I love that the women that are taken as Mates really have no future otherwise. Be it the verge of death or a debilitating disease. They do make a conscious choice to become a mate. So far, the Ashen have done pretty well on the pairings. We met Brock in Atticus' book, but I didn't get a real feel for him there. His family line is prone to rage attacks but he controls himself really well. Brittany's ease in dealing with Brock wasn't all just the mating bond. She learned quite a lot in her information download. I had to laugh, because she knew some things about his line that he wasn't familiar with. Another part I loved was when Brock's team was captured, he went crazy and Brittany was the only one that could bring him back from the Beast caused by his rage. Things are coming to a crucial point now with the Council. I can't wait for the next one. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Doctor Brock comes front and center...

Brock has been in quite a few of the previous stories, but here we get to understand the man with a love of languages and learning.

Britney's health had her thinking she was destined to be a burden on her mother until her dying day... then she received an offer that promised health, and a chance to be there for someone else.

I loved Britney's determination to bring the best of her past with her, even as she reinvented herself as a better person.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read stands alone, but definitely has more punch as part of the series. This story takes the overarching arc involving the Marel forward substantially, while continuing to open up questions about just how interested is the ruling council in the best interest of their citizens.

Oh, dear - now what do I do?

“Sex in the morning, evening sex, sex in the shower, and over the last couple days sex — usually — during lunch.”

Excerpt From: Pearl Tate. “Brock's Beloved.” Apple Books.

Actually, there is a bit more going on in this book. It's the tenth book in Pearl Tate's series, The quasar Lineage, and while it mostly works as a stand-alone, the sophisticated world-building and mystery/back-story is better captured by reading the series in order. The author so advises, and readers looking to maximize their enjoyment will take heed. I thought it so good that I've added it to my TBR pile. Meanwhile, if steamy sex with a mild D/s kink is your thing - see line one. ;-)

I like this series and now I have read few books from it. But for me the problem is that they are not standalone and to fully understand the whole dynamic of this world, you need to read whole series and this one is 10th in the row (for me that means: if you do not find ARCs, it is expensive).
Since I am huge fan of alien romance, let’s say that this world and is good one and I liked it. It is a bit different than usual set-up. This 10th book is also different form the rest of them, but again it was missing a bit of more background to fully understand why Brock & Brittney are a bit different from the rest.
I liked this world, so I will read next one, because I am intrigued enough to want to know what twill happen next.

I am loving this series. They are very well written and each one has a great storyline. I feel sorry for the men, how their women actually treat them. Though I love how their true mates end up being humans with genetic disorders. The males get true love and the women get to live life to the full.

Brock is different from the other males. He comes from a more primitive lineage and this causes him to go into a berserker rage when his mating rage comes about. Luckily Brittney knew what was going on and could help him.

In this book we also receive some more info about the mystery about the male Quasars and the crazy females. I can not wait for the next book, to find out more.

Mayten - The first half of the book explains the background of the two leading characters: Brittney and Brock. I admire the author’s commitment in creating awareness about different disabilities. Brittney was diagnosed in her teen years with a disability that will eventually render her muscles useless to her and leave her in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. Brock is part of a purebred lineage that is bigger and more aggressive than regular Quasar male. There is the usual steamy sex scenes in the first half too. The second half is where it got exciting. You’ll have to read it to find out what happens! [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]

What in the matchmaking heck is going on in this book? This book is steamy from the word go. These two can’t keep their hands off each other and it works out perfectly. Love the characters. Love how they develop each other and fulfill each other‘s needs. Also love how Brock is so possessive and wants to do what’s right. These two are just like wow! Couldn’t put the book down. Had to get my popcorn. Had to tell family that they are on their own until I have read the last word from this book. Absolutely an HEA. NO cliffhangers. Whew! If you only knew how juicy and steamy this book is. Join me in reading this series. I Loved it!

Pearl has never once disappointed me with her books.
And she didn't start now with Brock and Brittany's story.I think I might have enjoyed it a little more due to the specific characteristics of Brock's family line.Brittany shure enjoyed it.I could not get enough of the Quasar vessel Discovery and their journey to find mates and free themselves from abuse and oppression and consumption? I couldn't put my Kindle down and truly wish I didn't have to wait for the next book to come out. But I will. And I will giggle and do a happy dance just as I did with this book and every other book in this series.I would highly recommend.Happy reading!

The story was well written and the characters had great chemistry.I loved Brock and Brittney they were perfect for each other. There's drama, suspense, action, twists and turns, with a hot and steamy romance. There's also fated mates and mate marks. This was a little different for me. This was my first alien romance. I enjoyed the book as an overall read. A few things kinda confused me, but not enough to quit reading. Honestly, it could have just been my comprehension at the time. I will say, I was able to take my time with this book, it wasn't an I have to finish it now piece, but it was a definite come back and read more piece. Again, overall, I really enjoyed the story and the background story for some of the characters and the passion was a definite plus. I would be pleased to read other works by this author.

Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. I absolutely fell in love with both main characters Brock is from the Mayhem family line alien. Brittany has muscular dystrophy disease, she works even though it hurts was given an out, an out that mean she will live without pain and walk normal. So Brittany said yes to the offer so she is not a burden to her mum. When Brittany and Brock meet they talk in getting to know each other. Loved this series.

Brock's family history is explained

Brock and Brittney were introduced in the last book. We learn about what was happening when he visited his Ermada's house. We also learn about his family line, why he is larger than the other males and why his mating marks are darker and covers more skin.
This book contained way more sex scenes than any of the previous books. I love sex scenes in stories but it might have been a bit much in my opinion. I was kind of glad when we got to the point that Atticus's book left off. The Marel aliens and the Quasar council are the focus of the action part of this book.

When Brittany was given a chance to be healed if she left eath and everything she new to become the mate of an alien she took the deal.  When she and Brock met the attraction was explosive and they immediately connected.  And only she can sabe him when he needs it most.  This can be read as a stand-alone and ends in a HEA, it feels a bit like starting in the middle of a story.  Having never read this author before I would recommend reading the earlier books in this series.  I happily read this in exchange for an honest review.

Brittany is headed for a wheelchair. When given a chance to be healed she leaves earth and gets a mate of an alien so she took the deal. Brock and Brittany connect right away. Brock is from the Mayten Family line and he is bigger than he other brethren. Brock also finds that Brittany can calm him when he needs it. This is the 10th book of this series. Each book is different with the mating marks popping out when said warriors mates are near. Pearl Tate has become one of my favorite Sci-Fi authors. Brock's Beloved is a great addition to the series. This is Brock and Brittney story they are both enjoyable characters along with all of side characters that are well written. Their attraction was strong and their chemistry generated lots of sparks. The storyline was engaging and fun but offers a solid amount of drama and emotional turmoil as this couple relationship evolves into more than they ever imagined.

I love this series. Brock is a doctor on The Discovery. He comes from the Mayten Family line and he doesn't know much about the line other than he is bigger than others. Brock gets excited when mating marks appear on his body. Brittany has a genetic disease and is headed for a wheelchair. When given a chance to be healed she leaves earth and gets to be a mate of an alien so she took the deal. Brock and Brittany connect right away. The story was well written and the characters had great chemistry

Brock is a huge Mayten Alien who finds his mate Brittany who has a genetic disease that will see her is a wheel chair and eventually lose her life when her organs shut down, she is given a choice mate with Brock and be cured but leave earth and her mother behind, she doesnt hesitate feeling her mother will have a better life not having to look after her.
Brittany is educated on the Mayten line and probably knows more than Brock at this point so when danger comes and sees Brock fighting for his life Brittany must put that knowledge to use to help save Brock.

Another good book in a wonderful series...
The characters are likable and offer each other opportunities for happiness they never thought possible. Brittney gladly takes the offer by the Ashen to become Brock’s mate. They are perfect for each other. Brock discovers he truth behind the ambassadors the Quasar Council have been sending to the Marel.
