Freya

Maxim Ivankov is the devil incarnate.
With the fierce blood of Mongolian conquerors running through his veins he is pitiless.
From the time I was a child, I knew he was my enemy, and I have always hated him with a shocking intensity. Now my father wants me to marry him.
I cannot say no to my father. No one says no to him, not if they wish to live.
I may be his daughter, but his honor is more important than my life.
So I will marry that heartless brute.
Yes, he is beautiful, with piercing blue eyes and raven black hair, but I will not bend to him. I will not share his bed, and I will not bear him children.
Our marriage will be more barren than the wild landscapes his ancestors rode across when they came to conquer our lands.

Maxim

I have watched her from afar for many, many years. Those flame colored locks tumbling down her delicate shoulders, that creamy-white neck when it is stretched and exposed.
I have imagined how it will feel when she offers herself to me and I am inside her.
She despises me, but now she will bear my name and be mine.
I will make her call my name.
I will make her get on her pretty, little knees and beg me to take her.
I will be her last thought when she goes to sleep and the first when her eyes open.
I will fill her belly with my seed.

***4 STARS***

Freya has just been told by her high ranking Bratva father that she will wed Maxim, a son of a rival family. Freya hates Maxim because she blames him for her best friend’s death and she is determined that she will not wed him. Well, it’s not that simple in the mafia with arranged marriages but Freya goes to extremes to ensure her freedom. The book is basically the extremes she goes through.

First of all I loved the premise of the book. I absolutely loved Maxim. He was the sexy, cool, composed mafia boss that only talks when he has something significant to say. But Freya.....she got on my everlasting nerves. The hell and drama she caused and put Maxim through was just too much. I don’t see any man wanting her after her stupid antics. Even after learning the truth she is still acts like a you know what. That is why it was not a 5 star for me. It was also a slow burn which is not a favorite of mine.

But overall another solid read from Georgia Le Carre and I look forward to reading more of her backlog so stay tuned for more reviews!

This started so well. Two mafia dons planning a merging of families. By marrying off the eldest son Maxim. To the only daughter Freya.

Slight problem is Freya hates Maxim with a passion. She’s also madly in lust with him as well. So exciting times ahead?

Like I said this started really well but...

It went on and on for far far too long. She drove me crazy. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.
And he wasn’t much better.

It was one misunderstanding after another and another and another etc

I got to the point where I just didn’t care anymore. Which was a shame because it ended well and had more than one epilogue. Which is always a good thing. You can never have too many epilogues.

So it started well and ended well. My problem was all the endless to and fro in the middle.

What better way to unite two Russian mob families than by marriage, but if the heroine has her way, marriage is a no go for her!
I knocked off 1/2 star because of the heroine, Freya.Too much off a hard ass for me in her deep hatred for the hero,Maxim.Even when she found out the truth, she still detested him...but as the old adage goes...Hate is akin to love.
I liked the hero lots!what is it with these Russian Bratva romance hero's that makes them oh so sexy.

A very enjoyable and interesting mafia romance read.
Freya and Maxim had a fabulous chemistry regardless their fights and push and pull. It was predictable but very well written, suspenseful, steamy and slow burn.

I'm honestly not even going to rate this book because what did I just read?
I mean am I a joke to you?

The blurb was really catchy and I expected it to be good.
But there really was no chemistry between the MCs. The heroine hated the hero for no reason at all. I found the heroine really annoying and stupid to be honest. Maxim was still better but he acted reallyyyy stupid at times.
Honestly I'm proud of myself to not 'dnf' this book at 50%
I tried but I just couldn't😑

I tried, but Dnf!!! This was annoyingly awful. The H is a wuss, the h is irritating, family and friends are unbelievable as Russian mob or associate. There is nothing dark, suspenseful or mafiay about this other than what you are told. Pass.

What an incredible start of 2020. Georgia is my favorite author so I knew this will be an amazing story. And I was no wrong. With this ring is an addictive, captivating,slow-burn love story about Freya and Maxim. It’s not your typical arranged marriage story it’s so much more. Freya is an incredible heroine, strong, independent. The writing is amazing like always.epiloque is great too a few months later. Maxim is a great hero, possessive and caring for Freya but cold and distant for the underworld of the mafia.

“I know exactly what I’ve signed up for and I can’t wait to start my life with you, my darling heart.”

The book had me captivated from the very first page itself. The setting was perfectly crafted and the characters had good personalities. Freya was independent, feisty and strong but sometimes she was also dumb, stubborn and annoying but still I liked her. Maxim on the other hand was cold, brooding, aloof but when the love he had buried deep down in his heart for Freya was expressed in his pov, I liked him so much. It was honestly so good to get his pov because at times I just needed to understand what was going on in his mind. Overall, it was a delightful read with some good tropes and engaging writing.

This book had me hooked from the first page!! I loved loved it so much! The story was awesome, was written very well and very well paced.

It's a mob romance about two houses of Russian mafia one in Europe the other in US wanting to unify their families through marriage.

The hero and heroine's personalities and their chemistry was fire!

Maxim Ivanov is a perfect hero! Cruel in his underworld business, sophisticated in his multi billions bussines at day light, loyal to his family, ready to sacrifice himself for those he loves, handsome, hot, sexy and with a very magnetic personality. Blue eyes, dark hair, tall, muscular... I was completely smitten just like Freya 😍😀

Freya is a strong heroine. She is the only child of a Russian mobster, who controlled Russia and Europe. She was raised since she was a child to understand the risks of the world she was born too and defend herself. She has tried to escape that life for 5 years. The book starts with her beating the shit out of a client in a bar that harassed her. Red wild hair, green eyes, porcelain skin she's a beauty.

They hate each other, she hates him more. They share stories since they were kids. They will battle each other and their feelings until there will be no escape but accept them.
The story is action packed and with a thriller taste within the romance.

I highly recommend it!

Liked at first....

I really was into this story at first. It was exciting and kept me reading, but then I just got irritated, very irritated. I have never read an alpha male that was so wishy washy in my life! He almost seemed wimpy when he treated her so badly. So afraid of his feelings? Really he seemed so juvenile. Freya wasn’t much better. It was ok. Not thrilled.

2.5 stars, this didn’t really feel like mafia book to be honest. the premise of an arranged marriage between two old russian mafia families was really good but that plot was kind of just dropped after a while and it turned into freya being stubborn and refusing help. i didn’t feel the emotional connection between the characters even though the potential with their backstory was there.

A exciting mafia read. The storyline was intriguing, captivating and all round enjoyable. I loved the characters. Maxim and Freya were strong people, determined and very stubborn, neither wanting to give in. Maxim is a alpha mafia male, with a lot of responsibility and as tough as they come. Freya is determined and a straightforward woman, she knew exactly what she wanted and liked, and wasn’t afraid to show it. Until he came along and turned her world upside down. I loved her spark, her feistiness but also the way she eventually softened towards Maxim. However there were frustrating moments where I literally could have pulled my hair out and banged their heads together. But as they say good things happen to those who wait, and good things definitely happened. A great ending. I loved this story and the characters, and I am very excited to read Levan and Bianca’s story.
