This is the perfect read for our troubling times, Veronica Henry writes so beautifully and fluently, providing a wonderful background location in Everdene on the coast for us to immerse ourselves in the family dramas, the trials and tribulations, the challenges, and the love and friendships of Robyn Moss. I was unaware quite how anxious, tense and worried I was until I started reading this and felt myself relaxing and escaping into the perfectly pitched myriad of emotive storylines that revolve around 30 year old landscape gardener Robyn, the loved and adopted daughter of her parents, raised on the idyllic Hawksworthy Farm. Robyn has been in a long term relationship with her beloved Jake with whom she is in business, running The Moss Partnership, which after much hard won success, is a source of pride and accomplishment. Robyn is pregnant, Jake has proposed, and the wedding, reflecting Robyn's down to earth, casual and carefree nature, is to take place at Shedquarters, a beach hut owned by Rocky, Jake's father.

Robyn and Jake are finishing the work on their new home, The Linhay, which they hope to move in soon and completing their biggest contract to date, the Ibiza themed Mariscombe Hotel. Whilst everything appears perfect, Robyn feels blessed by life, and happy with the friends and family that are integral to her, she now has a desperate need to know more about her birth mother, Emily. Up until now she has been less than curious about Emily, even though on her 18th birthday she had been presented with a box from her, the contents of which Robyn has never been tempted to explore. Robyn now seeks more information about the circumstances of her birth and with the exception of her friend Gwen, tells no-one in her family, not even Jake, not wanting to hurt or worry anyone. In a narrative where Robyn's family and friends pull together to ensure Robyn and Jake have a wonderful wedding, we learn more about the various characters, including Emily and Jonathan, their backstories, the traumas and challenges, and their hopes and fears.

Henry is a excellent author when it comes to writing feel good contemporary fiction, if you have yet to encounter her books, this is a great example of the kind of novels she writes. I adored the characters, particularly the haunted and traumatised Emily and Robyn's friend, Gwen, who acquires a promising new neighbour in the bereaved Boyd. Gwen is Robyn's wedding planner, a project she undertakes with great enthusiasm, gusto, love and flair. This is a beautiful, emotionally engaging and lovely entertaining read, although the heartbreak portrayed had me in tears at times. If you are looking for a novel for our worrying times, I have no hesitation in recommending this as the perfect antidote. Many thanks to Orion for an ARC.

4-5 stars.

If you’re searching for a book for right now to escape into then look no further, as I happily immersed myself in this one for a few hours of reading for sheer pleasure. The location is Everdene in gorgeous Devon, the beach hut is the somewhat dilapidated ‘Shedquarters’ owned by Rocky Young who along with sons Jake and Ethan use it as their surfing base. Jake’s girlfriend Robyn is the adopted daughter of Sheila and Mick and she has a sister, Clover. Robyn decides to trace her birth mother Emily and ill say no more!!!

This is a well written, feel good, emotional story which leaves you a teary mess in places but smiling with joy at others. The story goes from the present day and back to Emily’s story from 1988 and this flows really well. It’s the characters that makes this book such a pleasure to read as they are all so likeable and clearly depicted so you can visualise them, and some are a visually colourful joy! It’s hard to select any for especial ’likeability’ but I think I’d like to channel my inner Gwen who is the most wonderful and true friend to Robyn and Emily for her resilience. There’s more to this than the usual contemporary fiction romance as it sheds particular light on family dynamics and issues such as adoption in Robyn’s case though her adoption is truly wonderful and divorce in the case of Rocky and his lovely boys. Emily’s story growing up is a tough one and you feel so much empathy for what she goes through. Clover and Robyn’s relationship is lovely too as is the mother/daughter dynamic between Sheila and Robyn and Sheila’s emotions are so easy to understand. The setting is wonderful, a sea side setting? Yes please. With the added bonus of a beach hut? Oh definitely sign me up!!

Overall, a well written, good quality emotional easy read, it’s entertaining and absolutely perfect for Covid avoidance or at any time you just want to feel good.

With thanks to NetGalley and Orion Books for the ARC

This was such a delightful story that I was bummed to see end, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these fabulous characters. Veronica Henry infuse so much emotion and charm into this engaging story. Robyn and Jake are having a baby. They are so excited and in love, but they know this will bring changes to their carefree lifestyle. Robyn was adopted by amazing parents, but now about to have a baby of her own she is contemplating reaching out to her birth mother. Jake has never believed in marriage especially because his parents marriage didn’t work out that well. But now that he is about to be a father and their dream home is almost complete, he begins to see that marrying Robyn might be the way to go. Jake and Robyn have such amazing family and friends Who are all determined to give this couple the wedding of their dreams. The lead up to the wedding is full of emotion, heart, hope, second chances, and new beginnings.

Loved this book! I loved these characters and I loved every single minute I spent with them. Robyn was such a phenomenal character who I would love to be friends with. Her relationship with Jake was so sweet, the love between them really poured from the pages. The backstory of her birth mother Emily was heartbreaking I really felt for the girl. All the secondary characters in this book were spectacular and I have to give a special shout out to Gwen and Clover who I particularly loved. A lovely beach read with a whole lot of heart!

This was another wonderful book from Veronica Henry. It was another one set in Devon in the Beach Hut series and I just loved it. From the first page to the last it carried me along and at the end I found myself tearing up as it was so lovely, but, not sad. I love Ms Henry’s books they are so easy to read and make you feel warm and comfortable inside.

This is one wedding you won’t want to miss.

A new book by Veronica Henry is always something to look forward to. Having loved so many of her books I couldn’t resist saying yes to reviewing A Wedding at the Beach Hut for the tour, and this was just the type of read I needed at the moment. Although this forms part of the Everdene Sands/Beach Hut series, it can easily be read as a standalone without any loss of enjoyment.

Robyn and Jake not only run a landscaping business together but are also planning their wedding. Neither want anything flashy or big so a casual, simple affair is planned with a celebration for a few family and friends at the ‘Shedquarters’, a beach hut owned by Jake’s father Rocky.

The book isn’t all about the wedding though. With huge changes about to be made to her life, Robyn has a big and very difficult decision to make and she doesn’t want to hurt anyone through her actions. One part of the story follows Robyn as she makes her decision and follows through.

One of the loveliest things about this book are the characters. Thirty years old, Robyn and Jake are both kind and genuine. Their love for each other has grown from working together and they are busy trying to make their business a success, as well as renovating the Linhay, an old farm shed, to be their home. Robyn’s parents Mick and Sheila are facing uncertain times as their beloved Hawksworthy Farm is eating the cash and Rocky, Jake’s dad, divorced and lonely now that his sons have left home, is deciding whether to dip a toe in the waters of online dating. His ex-wife Tina is having to face up to her own decisions.

Another character who forms a large part of the story is Emily. I was completely engrossed by her part in this and it made the book for me.

Veronica Henry certainly knows how to tug at the heartstrings – she excels at producing well developed and engaging characters, each with an interesting and sensitively written storyline with emotional depth and substance behind them. Love, the importance of family and the need to have a sense of belonging are some of the themes of the book.

I absolutely loved it and actually felt quite sad when it came to the end. And as for unofficial wedding planners – then Robyn’s fabulous friend Gwen with her homely harbourside flat full of collected artefacts must take some beating!

One thing you are always guaranteed with a novel by Veronica Henry, is that you are in for a good reading experience.

It’s hard to know exactly how much to say in my review as the book description doesn’t give to much away and I don’t want to reveal to much to spoil it for others.

The characters are as always what makes this authors books. They are likeable and within no time I was engrossed with their everyday lives. I really liked Robyn’s family with her outspoken sister Clover and her lovely parents Mick and Sheila.

Robyn’s choices have some major affects on the people she loves which made for some emotional reading. You could see things from all sides and I didn’t envy Robyn for being in the position she was at all.

A Wedding At The Beach Hut is a wonderful story about relationships, especially the bonds between parent and child. The idyllic location of Everdene Sands added to the gentle atmosphere and pacing of this lovely read. Highly recommended!

My thanks to Anne Cater for inviting me onto the blog tour and to Orion Publishing and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Well you can like a book and not like the characters but you can love a book when you love the characters too and this book definitely fell into that category. This is the third Veronica Henry book I've read and she has become a firm favourite of mine. Thanks Netgalley and publishers for letting me have the opportunity to review this book.

It was so good and sweeps you away to the world of Everdene, This book is about Robyn, a landscape gardener who finds out she is pregnant and when she and Jake plan to get married, she then wants to know about her adoption and find her birth mother. The book tells us about her life, her birth parents, her family and friends and takes you on a real emotional rollercoaster ride. It really comes to life the more you read. I cant remember a book that brought me to tears as much as this one did "through happy and sadness at times. It is the perfect book to take you away from reality.

This is the only title I have read from the series and this is the 4th book on the beach hut series, but you can read them in any order as I understand each book has completely different characters who just happen to live in the same town and own a beach hut there.

Thoroughly recommended - a fantastic read

I enjoyed this most of Veronica Henry's Beach Hut series. Another set in the seaside town of Everdene. It had a good, believable storyline, never soppy or too sentimental but just a little bit of feel good romance.

Having not read any of the other books in the Beach Hut series, I was worried I would be at a disadvantage, but I am happy to report that at no point did I feel like this when I was reading.
This book was the perfect sunny summer day read, following Robyn and Jake as they embark on their life together. When the book starts so happily, I did feel on edge for most of my reading wondering at what point the author was going to throw in something bad, am I just a cynic?
Despite this, I really enjoyed my first foray into life at the beach hut and I shall keep an eye out for others in the series. The characters were likeable and the family units and extended family were lovely to read about. Especially liked Gwen as a character - could we have a spin off?
This book touched on some deeper subjects of miscarriage and adoption so just be aware if you are sensitive to either, in my inexpert opinion, both were dealt with in a sensitive way, but were still heart wrenching nonetheless.
Thank you to the publisher for my gifted copy as part of the blog tour.

3.5🌟

This is a nice light read perfect for a summer's day. The location of this story and it's description, whisks you away and makes you believe you are on the beach with Robyn and Jake.

Robyn and Jake are a perfect match. They are both so laid back and easy to get on with. Reading about their relationship made me feel so happy and good about the world. This book follows the story of Robyn. She's in a perfect point in her life. She is about to get married, expecting a baby and building the house of her dreams. Life is good 😊

But, on her eighteenth birthday her mother gave her a box. A box that hasn't been opened until now. What secrets are within the box? Will what's inside turn Robyn's world upside down?

I enjoyed this story and how it developed. We get a narrative from the past that helps us unlock the mystery of the box. And, I enjoyed this as it gave us more of an understanding as to the reasons behind the decisions.

We also follow the stories of the secondary characters in this tale. And, I really enjoyed discovering new things and going on a journey with each one. Learning about the people in Robyn's life made her character more rounded and relatable.

A Wedding At the Beach Hut is a heartwarming tale of dealing with the past to make a brighter future.

Always a treat to return to Everdene and the beach huts, and this was no exception.

This is just an all around lovely and joyous book, sure to bring a smile to your face.

I loved Robyn and Jakes story, but even more so I loved Emily's story, I was hooked on finding out just what happened next to her, and love how it was all resolved.

There is such a great family feeling to this book, as many of the Jake and Robyn's family's make big decisions, or change directions in life, and they all seemed so supportive of each other.

It was a real pleasure to read this lovely book, written with Veronica Henry's normal warmth and skill.

Thank you to Orion and Netgalley for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut is Veronica Henry's twentieth novel, and I think I've read every single one of her books; she is a real favourite of mine.

For me, reading a Veronica Henry book is a way to escape the realities of the world around us, especially as we continue to live through this pandemic, with no real knowledge of how things will change for us when we finally get through. I spent a sunny weekend with this story, and it was the perfect reading experience.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut is the third of her books to be set amongst the colourful row of beach huts on the sands of the seaside town of Everdene. Whilst the setting is the same in each book, these are all standalone stories, so whilst I really would urge you to read them all, you don't have to read the other two first.

This is now my favourite of Veronica Henry's books! Her characters are wonderful, and even though lead character Robyn and her finance Jake are just thirty years old, they are not the often stereotypical young couple that you find in novels. Both Robyn and Jake are laid-back, yet hard-working, with ambitions and hopes for their future life together.

They've been together for a few years now, working together on their landscaping business and renovating an old barn that they bought from Robyn's parents. This will be their forever house, the place that they intend to bring up a family and grow old togehter.

They decide that it's time to get married. There's no bridezilla moments for Robyn, she just wants a small wedding, with only close friends and family, and ideally no frothy wedding dress, or any of the usual wedding hassles. They decide that they'll have their celebrations at Jake's family beach hut.

What could be simpler? A fuss-free wedding with no worries? However, everyone has a few skeletons in the cupboard and these two families are certainly no different. Despite, what looks on the outside, their perfections, both families have issues that need to be resolved before the big day.

Veronica Henry's greatest skill is in creating character and place. Her storylines are beautifully constructed too, but for me, it's the wonderful sense of place combined with such richly formed and interesting characters that really sells her novels to me.

There's a very special place in my heart for Gwen; a truly brilliant character who almost stole the show. She's far older than Robyn, but is probably her closest friend and greatest ally. She lives in a sea facing flat that is filled with beautiful knick knacks that tell the story of her colourful life. She embraces any issue, does her best to resolve the most difficult of issues, whilst wearing super stylish clothes and maintaining such a sense of fun and integrity. She really is the most perfect of characters.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut is not all fluff and cake by any means. This superb author touches on some delicate issues and does it with a deftness and empathy. The reader experiences the joys and the sorrows, is witness to the trepidation felt by the characters and sometimes the hurt that they feel too.

This is another heartwarming and charming read from this very talented author. My favourite of her books so far, and I've loved every single one of them.

Wedding at the Beach Hut, by Veronica Henry, is the culmination of the Beach Hut series, while also being easily read as a standalone. This story is an absolute gem. Veronica Henry is a gifted story-teller and her writing style is lyrical, moving and inspirational.

In this story we follow Robyn Moss, who has been with her boyfriend Jake for years. They are expecting a baby and decide that now is the time to tie the knot. She is a kind-hearted, humble, pragmatic girl who wants a simple wedding on the beach to the love of her life, surrounded by family. But first she feels compelled to find her birth mother and have some resolution, if possible, to that component of her life. We follow her search for her birth parents, as well as the ramifications with her adopted parents. We get to follow the wedding prep crafted by lovely friends and supportive family, along with glimpses of their personal stories, and her birth parents heart-wrenching backstories.

Wedding at the Beach Hut is impactful, charming, heartfelt and uplifting. Veronica Henry’s books are delightful, feel-good stories that will long stay with you and are definitely comfort reads for me.

I’ve had my eye on this book for a very long time, I mean who doesn’t love a Veronica Henry book! This one looked particularly enticing with it’s blue skies and colourful beach huts. It follows on with the Beach Hut series, but it can most definitely be read as a standalone novel. It takes us back to Everdene on the North Devon coast, and we meet Robyn and Jake who are planning their future. After finding out she is pregnant, they decide to get married and what better place to do it than the family’s beach hut! Things aren’t so smooth along the way though when Robyn decides she wants to find her birth mother, and decides to open a box which was left to her all those years ago.

This was a fabulous read and once I started it, I couldn’t put it down. It isn’t your typical romance chick-lit type book though, it’s a powerful story of love, loss and forgiveness told from different characters’ viewpoints. Firstly, we have Robyn’s story – lovely Robyn who decides that she wants to know her birth right, particularly now that she is pregnant. We also hear from her birth mother, Emily whose story travels between 30 years previously and present day. There are also lots of side storylines from other characters who we meet along the way – Robyn’s friend, Gwen, Jake’s dad Rocky and Robyn’s parents Mick and Sheila. Each of them had their own little piece of magic to add to the story and they were all absolutely delightful. There certainly isn’t one who you couldn’t connect with or like!

The story flows along at a good pace, switching between the different characters, captivating you in every turn of the page. The stories, particularly the circumstances of Robyn’s adoption, are quite sad at times, but are also sensitively written. I love how the author doesn’t sugar-coat anything and tells it to you, just how you would expect it to happen. My heart broke so many times whilst reading this book and yet still by the end it had managed to repair itself and was left with such a heart-warming feeling and a smile on my face! With a perfect backdrop of the Devon Atlantic coastline, this book captured my heart, imagination and spirit in every way possible! If you’re looking for that little bit of escapism, lose yourself in wonder of this author’s writing! Highly recommend!

When you can't get away then you need someone else to weave a tale where you are swept away somewhere and you can guarantee the right place with Veronica Henry.

This is the fourth book to be set in Everdene and to feature the bright and colourful beach huts on the shore as well as the bright and colourful characters.

In this book we meet Robyn, laid back and confident in her work as a landscape gardener along with her boyfriend Jake. Life is taking some unexpected turns for them, with Robyn who is now cultivating their own baby and with Jake proposing it seems that everything is happening quickly.

Along with Robyn and Jake we have their families and friends who form part of a close knit community and all gather at Rocky's beach hut every week to catch up.

Rocky is Jake's father and brought up Jake and his brother Ethan when their mother, TIna left. Everdene was not the place for he, but it is certainly the place for Rocky and he thinks that perhaps there should a place for a relationship now in his life.

Robyn's parents, Sheila and Mick are struggling to get by and with Robyn getting married and their younger daughter Clover soon to fly the nest it seems some changes are needed.

What makes this story something else and not your average women's fiction is the background of Robyn. Robyn is adopted and she has never let it affect her until the moment she finds she is getting married and going to be a mother. Something changes within her and she wants to learn the truth of her birth.

And so as the story goes back to Robyn's birth mother and we find out Robyn's roots. However going back can affect the present and Robyn does not want to hurt anyone so she keeps it a secret with some resulting in some heartbreaking consequences.

Everyone's lives are changing in Everdene and as they all get together for Robyn and Jakes simple wedding celebration at the Beach Hut, it is a chance to come together in love and laughter and friendship and know that they are about to move onto many more scary and exciting times together.

This book was so enthralling I devoured it, so captivated that it brought me to lovely happy tears. I could feel the sand beneath my toes, I wanted to sit outside the beach hut and look out to the water, to the waves coming and going and the sky changing with the weather. It would be the perfect place to read such a book as this!

This is such a feel good novel it leaves you with that warm hearted feeling long after you have finished reading it.

Robyn’s past is about to meet her future!

I just adored A Wedding at the Beach Hut. Veronica Henry has written the perfect escapist, emotional and ultimately uplifting story that took me away from the troubles of the world into another time and place where I could lose myself completely. Reading A Wedding at the Beach Hut was pure bliss.

There’s a wonderful plot here that sweeps along, drawing in the reader so that they feel they are catching up with old friends and making new ones that they won’t forget. Although I had confidence that there would be a positive ending to the story befitting the genre, I was thoroughly entertained in getting to that ending. It’s tricky to articulate but I felt an affinity with the narrative that made it very affecting and emotional. I confess I cried on more than one occasion.

Veronica Henry has such a deft touch in her descriptions that makes them visual and evocative. There’s a scenic quality that is quite spellbinding. I loved the natural tone of the direct speech because it made me feel as if I were listening in to, not reading about, the people in A Wedding at the Beach Hut, making me fall in love with them all. I thought the balance of genders and ages was just perfect. Although she’s a more subsidiary character, Gwen in particular appealed to me because she illustrates that independence doesn’t have to mean isolation. I ended the story wanting to know what happened to them all after I’d closed the book as they felt real and vivid and Veronica Henry made me care about every one.

There’s an elegant maturity to the themes in A Wedding at the Beach Hut that is so fabulous. I can’t outline them all as it would spoil the read, but making the most of life and the opportunities that are presented, love, identity, family and belonging are just a few of the threads that are presented so beautifully that I felt their resonance physically as well as intellectually. This is such warm, wonderful and emotional writing.

A Wedding at the Beach Hut is an absolutely lovey book because Veronica Henry has given her readers a flawless example of women’s fiction at its most enchanting. I absolutely adored it.

Oh what a book. Veronica Henry's series of beach hut reads are a sure fire winner for happy days and the simplicity of sea, salt and sand between your toes. Every time I read one of these books I want to live in Everdene and I want to own a beach hut. It is my dream plan!
For some, the characters will appear Insta perfect and the plots syrupy sweet but who can genuinely knock an offering that makes you feel the sunshine is trapped inside of you and making you positively glow?
This is pure escapism from the grey drudgery of real life where things don't always go according to plan. At Everdene you can find the solution along the shoreline, at the harbour in Tawcombe, in the Ship Aground public house or the Mariscombe Hotel. Just the names (and the beautiful book covers) are enough to seduce a lover of romance and happy endings inside the pages.
Robyn and Jake went into a landscaping business together and are now expecting a baby. They are converting a cattleshed on Robyn's parents' Hawksworthy Farm and decide on an unusual venue for their wedding.
But all is not that straightforward. Jake's Dad Rocky wants to dip his toe back in the dating game, the farm has huge debts for Mick and Sheila to worry about and Robyn has a box hidden in a drawer that she hasn't once opened in 12 years. What is inside and what will taking the lid off mean for these people bound by birth and love?
With Clover and Ethan, Gwen and Boyd, Tina and Marley, join these wonderful fictional people in their bid to resolve the past and stride confidently into the future.
Already looking forward to the next Beach Hut read. My only complaint? I read them too quickly!

Great to be back at the Beach. Really enjoyable read. Likeable characters and plenty of relevant subplots. The move between the past and the present is easy to follow and adds context to the story. Well written and the narrative just conjures up the beauty of the Devon coast. Highly recommended.

Another excellent Veronica Henry Book. A good plot, involving two different time periods. Loved all the characters and the location sounds gorgeous. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Was surprised to read one of the characters was born in Ronkswood Hospital, Worcester, not a city I've seen used in a book before and a place I know well.

Fancied a quick feel good read after a run of crime thrillers et al - and this delivered. Veronica Henry writes very smoothly and creates relatable characters and lovely, if a bit Instagram filtered!, settings. She also handled the main plot running through very sensitively. Perfect for a holiday/the beach
