In the sixth installment of the time-traveling chapter book series, the Hidden Scrolls take siblings Peter and Mary back to ancient Babylon, where Daniel is about to get thrown into the lions' den. The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls series follows siblings Peter and Mary and their dog, Hank, as they discover ancient scrolls that transport them back to key moments in biblical history. In their sixth adventure, the trio travels back in time to the bustling city of Babylon. When Peter and Mary meet Shadrach and Daniel, they learn that there are new laws that make it illegal to worship or pray to anyone but the king. As time to solve the scroll runs out, Peter and Mary face their biggest challenge yet--a sneaky high priest who wants to get them thrown into the lions' den with Daniel.

Mike Thomas grew up in Florida playing sports and riding his bike to the library and an arcade named the Cosmic Cowboy. He graduated from Liberty University, earning a bachelor's degree in Bible Studies. When his son Peter was nine years old, Mike went searching for books that would teach Peter about the Bible in a fun, imaginative way. Finding none, he decided to write his own series. Mike Thomas lives in Tennessee with his wife, Lori; two sons, Payton and Peter; and their dog, Hank.
3.5 stars. This is the story of Babylon and Daniel being thrown into the lion's den. I felt like the Daniel part was really suspenseful and fast moving, but we didn't meet Daniel until like 75% of the way through. The first part was really slow and didn't give enough background for my preference.
Another great read aloud with my 8 year old! I loved the weaving together of Shadrach and Daniel. And with the made-up character Hannah, it helped me imagine a bit what it would be like to be exiled in Babylon. My son is kind of tired of the repetition of Michael's 3 rules, but I know that that's for readers new to the series. We've got two more to go! I'm thankful for this series!
Love the biblical accuracy woven into a wonderful story that holds the attention of children. My son and I have so enjoyed reading this series aloud and I have recommended them to many friends! One of my favorites.
I loved this one a lot especially since we got to see Daniel and how Peter and Mary stood up against the High Priest of Babylon and his false god Marduk. I love that they didn't bow down and even learned to stop hiding and trust God. Of course Daniel is amazing so this was a solid five star read!!

Read this series to the girls when they were younger. Picked it up with my 7 year old son. A good mix between magic tree house and adventures in odyssey. He loved it!
Finished book number 6: The Lions roar. This book follows the story of Daniel as he and stands up to the priest in Babylon. Another excellent chapter in the secret of the hidden scrolls series.
