Y'all..... I don't even know what to think right now. One thing is certain: the rating is for how I liked the book and not the actual writing. Because as far as writing goes, Emma Cole does a thorough job. It just so happened the job done wasn't for me. It happens!
I've read so many dark romances and didn't think I had any triggers. Turns out, reading about someone literally having their arsehole smashed from being raped with a monster dildo, is way too much for me. The sex scenes are explicit and they're neither hot nor tasteful. What they are; dark, disturbing, gritty and non-con through and through. I do have to give the author bonus points for creativity though, she's thought up some truly creative and disturbing shit!
As for this being a reverse harem book, I'm not in agreement with that statement. This doesn't feel like a harem. The characters are abducted and thrown into daily rape. Sure they do have some moments where they get to hang - mostly because they've been abused so hard sexually that they need time to heal. But whatever, let's not get hung up on semantics!
I think I may have enjoyed this more if it wasn't because of Lark, the FMC. Her anger, hissy-fits and teenage tantrums all seemed misplaced. I mean; being abducted by people who use people for a sex ring, only to get mad they touch you without consent? Not at the fact they're forcing her ex and BFF to basically rape her, and prep her arsehole for anal play... nope, that's totally okay. As long as no one touches her without consent. Insert dramatic eye roll. So yes, to me Lark was just too much of a damn special snowflake and I didn't really care about her one bit. The guys however, loved each one of them and they'll be the reason I read the second book when it comes out.

A LOT of sex. Hot sex for sure, but the plot was pretty much nonexistent. My main problem lies with the characters and how they so easily went with the situation and adjusted to it. The heros were all just okay, but I think like, one, stood out to me. Heroine also cared way too much about her ex breaking up with her in a situation like this, so it got a bit annoying. Overall, just a decent book. Good for dark erotica, but no plot to it really.

I am speechless and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.
So I did like the set up! (Don't @ me). FMC and her best friend are abducted alongside her ex-boyfriend and his friend. All four end up getting sex slave training as a foursome as a part of some FBI sting.
It's messy, in terms of execution and action. Limbs, body parts, and fluids are just everywhere. I didn't even know who was doing what to who or to themselves most of the time lol.
But that's all there is. It's a couple hundred page orgy with a train ride thrown in. Nice for those looking for that, meh for those wanting some action with their action.

Well...if you are into porn then this is the book for you...with all the glorious details, only sex from start to finish...oh and in this story, there is an ex bf, a bff involved...so yeah...oh and maybe she will have something more romantically with the bff but well...the book ends and..guess what? She is prego and who knows who the father is , since she had sex with like 7 people in all the book and all of them with each others .. yayyyy harem. Now of course i don't care about the second book.

DNF 77%- It was ok.
The premise is interesting. Had a lot of promise.
There are some positives- the guy characters are appealing. I like Braeden and how much he cares for Lark. I like the rivalry between him and Rex. Emmett is interesting and I want to know more about him. I don’t mind the guy/guy scenes or the depravity of some of the actions they are forced to endure.
Less positives:
Lots of detailed scenes but I’m not into everything that’s been described. I found some of the descriptions confusing.
The relationship between the characters is a bit superficial so when one reveals something traumatic about his past - I don’t feel invested or particularly caring about it all.
I think a big part of it all is that I’m not crazy about Lark. She is supposed to be a strong personality who everyone loves but I don’t find her particularly appealing and the times she shows her strong side resulting in some violence against her capturers are the wrong times. In the middle of them trying to help her when she’s hurt, for example, because he didn’t ask to touch her first. And then when she gets her way and he/they explain there’s an actual line in there about how she wished he wouldn’t go into so much detail. 🙄 it’s annoying.
I also found the different points of view from the guys a bit superfluous. Doesn’t add much.
It’s getting to the point when there may be a plan in the works but suddenly I found I just didn’t care. Like, all of a sudden. I think that’s a sign I should abandon ship. Going on to another book I think. Some of it also has to do with a bunch of other books I want to read in my want to read list- has to be pretty compelling to keep me invested.

A dark RH filled with lots of sex. Some hot as hell and others shocked the hell out of me. Yes some parts might be a little hard to read (my jaw hit the floor on several occasions throughout this book) but i think in order to understand the characters you have to give them reason to do what they do. Lark (FMC) and her best friend Braeden get kidnapped as well as Emmett (her Ex-Boyfriend) and Rex his friend, both of whom are FBI agents. Forcing them into a world of underground sexual slavery and a place where trust is in short supply. So when they start their so-called training with Apollo, Marcus and their doctor Brent its the start of a game of survival. Although sex and control is at the forefront of this book at the heart i think it one of love, trust, friendship and loyalty. If you keep that in mind when you read this its a damn fine read

WOW! This is one erotic and intense story. Right from the start I was on the edge of my seat completely blown away at what was happening in this story. It is very fast paced and so very titillating. It is also depraved, dark and very twisted. There were times in the story where I was shocked to learned new things that the human body could do - and it left me squirming in my seat!! Lark is an amazing character will so much attitude and spunk. She is what keeps you loving and hating all of the characters. It's her personality and attitude that keep her sane right until the end. And what a freaking ending that was!

Deliciously Dark
I was totally consumed by Lark's world and her predicament. I raged for her, broke with her and survived alongside her. Emma Cole takes us on a journey through this sotry and despite the fact that this book is dark- and I don't mean she just has some rough smex dark. I mean properly dark and the trigger warnings are not to be ignored- it's so funny in places it had me laughing out loud. Her men are a wonderful mixture of completely caring and complete a-holes which makes for some very interesting and emotive moments. To be able to write this sort of material in a way that feels so realistic and still be able to make it humorous with such a difficult subject is a real talent and I will be eagerly awaiting the next!

Where’s the story?
Ok admittedly I didn’t finish so it is possible the last third might contain the actually story. The first two thirds is basically porn, like really bad porn. If you’re looking for just extreme porn then you’ll probably like this.
The story itself is weak. There’s four of them abducted - 1 girl, 3 guys. Abducted yet behave like they’re at a sex education school. The girl actually wants to giggle at one of the guys’ reaction being put through ‘training’! Seriously she’s finding it funny?! I really didn’t like her. She seemed more like a spoilt brat having a tantrum than a victim of any kind.
There’s no depth of emotion except casual annoyance. The whole thing reads like a manual describing in basic detail one sex act after another.

Dark, twisted, but so good!
When I read the warnings I just knew this was going to be a wild ride andI was not disappointed at all!
Starting the story with a breakup followed quickly by kidnapping just throws you in head first and I am here for it!
Lark is this strong snarky character who is not afraid to fight back. I loved the relationships between the characters and how they were ever changing. I loved that there was acknowledgement that what happens is traumatic and it isn't just a quick they get over it.
I don't want to say more cause I will for sure spoil things or my review won't be fit for posting 😜

I'm not okay
Dark is my thing, but some books do flirt with the line of too much for me to handle and I have to admit that Lark came pretty close. Fortunately it never crossed the line because the author really managed to balance out the dark, raw and gritty parts with the strength of the FMC, the care of the men she has with her and the end goal. There is still a positive note to this story and it certainly helps digesting the moments that are hard to stomach.
Don't get me wrong, this book is not for the faint of heart. It has many triggers and is twisted AF, so heed the warnings if you don't like the book theme. Since it's about s*x slavery, you can't expect rainbows and unicorns.
With that being said. This book had me all hot and bothered and slightly uncomfortable for feeling that way because of the situation the main characters are in. The characters were amazing. Lark the Fmc Is such a badass but a very annoying badass
The premise is very good, and I was a little intrigued.However, I've been reading a few sex trafficking storyline and this book has too much freedom, space, and options to backtalk, especially Lark She insists on making it hard for herself, by having so much attitude........Girl, follow the rules!!!!! Try your best so nobody can notice you.

The premise is very good, and I was a little intrigued.However, I've been reading a few sex trafficking storyline and this book has too much freedom, space, and options to backtalk, especially Lark She insists on making it hard for herself, by having so much attitude........Girl, follow the rules!!!!! Try your best so nobody can notice you.

WOW! What a unique and interesting story! From page one there was action and it did not stop for the whole book. Dark, not the darkest, but definitely dark because of the trope and subjects.
Lark is a young woman who finds herself in an unbelievable situation, as well as her best friend and her ex boyfriend and his friend. Together this group of captives finds themselves having to endure situations that are unfathomable.

Lark comes with trigger warnings and I proceeded without caution due to not really having any. However, I found this story was slow and struggled to keep reading it. Everything needed to set up the storyline happens in the beginning and then it’s basically sex training whilst in captivity. It became too much crazy sex and it overtook from the story. Then the last few chapters are full of action and we are left with a cliffhanger, so I need to dive in to part two of the duet for answers. Enter at your own risk, just let me say the sex is hardcore and not for the faint of heart.

I give the storyline in this book a 3/5 stars and will explain why. I give the spiciness in the book a 5/5 stars. Averaged together both scores and the total overall score is 4/5 stars.
Book is spicy and hot. The spicy scenes are chef’s kiss. The storyline is good but completely unrealistic in the operation going on as the plot. I realize many other people have loved the storyline. I don’t think they are wrong. For me a plot must have some sort of semblance of reality if the book is not paranormal or supernatural in any way. The freedoms and accommodations given to the characters in their situation is way too unrealistic to be believable. This is the only reason I give the book the score above. Otherwise it was well written.
I will be reading more books from this author.

I have absolutely no idea why this book was suggested to me. I have never made it a secret that I am not into multiple female activity. It just doesn't get my attention or as the case may be, it doesn't turn me on. I am more of the reverse harem as in multiple guys one girl. This book is above my comfort zone which is kind of funny because I don't really have one but this book kind of made me feel sick to my stomach. The idea of women fisting each other up the anus makes me sick. Actually any kind of fisting the anus makes me sick. That's a hard pass for me thank you. If that's what you're into then this book is for you. But it's not for me.

What did I just read? This was a non-stop read!!
The reason for my lower rating is, because the thought process of all of them was very skewed and very unbelievable. But the plot was good!
A lot of the scenarios were just not believable, but because it’s a story I could get with it.
Also, the AD made me very uncomfortable. If you know what I mean, I think there’s something going on with him in the next book because… he’s giving off certain vibes!
Also, we got here with a double whammy for a cliffhanger, and that was crazy and also still very unbelievable, especially the second cliffhanger!!

3.5⭐️’s but rounded down for the lack of substantial plot. It went from zero to warp speed in this plot and I don’t think there was time to get any proper character development in before the gigantic shit show.
It’s interesting. It’s sexy. But sadly is lacking.
I guess it’s one of those circumstances where there’s the fine line between TMI (too much information) and NEI (not enough information). I hope the next book irons out the details, but based on the panic attack worthy cliffhanger, I have my doubts.

Instantly hooked
This is dark. Definitely read your triggers if you need them. I struggled to put this down, it had me instantly hooked. Plenty of twists and turns with spice that had me questioning my own sanity. Definitely not one for the faint hearted but oh so recommended. I cannot wait to read the second.
