A New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, Penelope Sky is known for her dark romance that makes you fall for her characters….no matter how dark they seem. Her books are being translated into several languages around the world, and she’s sold more than a million books worldwide. She lives in a small town in California with her husband, where she spends most of her time writing on the back porch.
This “trilogy” should be finished. I have never persevered with such a drawn out storyline. It. Has. Not. Changed. Hero after villain, villain wins, hero counter attacks, villain overcomes him again! It is ridiculous. All that money and all those contacts?! We were told how powerful Hades is, how everything he wants he gets, how determined etc but we never see him overcome his adversary in three books. In this book he acts like a beta to Maddox. He doesn’t circle the wagons, strategise, understand his adversary - I love heroes and heroines who are smarter than this.
If I were in his situation I would have at least carried a gun everywhere I went. You started a war with someone who you know is ruthless and you are not suspicious of a “production issue”? No cameras that you can access remotely? It’s just so disappointing to have the author hamstring the hero like this. It’s as if Maddox is some sort of apparition. He knows everything about Hades, he knows how to hack into mobile phones to kidnap Sofia, he manages to not be found, he calls all the shots, he has loyal staff that would never betray him, he manages to convert all of Hades staff to double cross him. TOO MUCH. It became unbelievable and frankly overly frustrating. Isn’t the fact he has managed to kidnap Damien, Sofia and Hades enough? Now he gets to partner with Hades?
I just can’t get over how we are told the amount of resources he has, money, properties (hotel chain), contacts that are all criminals and yet he is unable to combat his adversary in any substantial way?
Then there’s the romance. Finally they both wake up to themselves and understand they love one another. They have their issues but ultimately we were finally in a good place. ALL HE HAD TO DO TO FINISH THIS TRILOGY WAS KILL MADDOX. But no, in a few pages the author writes herself another book. It would have been so easy to get a nice conclusion as Hades enters the warehouse. Goes on the attack and kills Maddox because his staff didn’t turn on him but gave him a heads up with Ash as backup. Game Over. Epilogue and lead into Damien’s book. But no that’s not what’s happened. Book four instead. Guess what? I’m not reading it!🙃
How school Hades went? Please tell me! Oh I forgot... he is a character 🤷🏻♀️ I’m talking seriously about his character, because he is a drug dealer and has a heart and behavior unbelievable. He is a dream, seriously! Just one thing I didn’t swallow... the beginning the first chapter... come on!

OH MY GOD I WANT TO SCREAM MYSELF HOARSE AFTER THIS!!!!
This has just become way, way, waaaaayyyy too drawn out for me. It’s not even that compelling of a plot line to begin with!
Sofia is the absolute worst! There is nothing redeemable about her character. Nothing at all. I see what she’s intended to be and it’s this strong, independent woman who stands by what she believes in no matter what, but good f*cking grief! She never gives an inch, even when she’s clearly in the wrong and being an idiot. Over the course of three books, I’ve spent hours reading until I’m filled with frustration and anger and unlimited tension because of this dumb woman. And the author throws in the whole issue of her being raped by Maddox over the course of a month, which is truly horrendous and not to be downplayed in any way, but Sofia makes it so hard. She really does. I just can’t bring myself to be sympathetic towards her. This is a major spoiler alert, but how can you say you love someone and then threaten to take yourself and your unborn son away from its father because he’s trapped in a lose-lose situation?! HOW CAN YOU MAKE THAT DECISION?!?!! If I were Hades (who I really like by the way aside from his beef with Damien) I would say, “Bye then, B*tch! Get gone!”
UUUUGGGHHH. And now I have to wait for the final book so I can officially put this headache behind me.
* Small Disclaimer: I have liked every single one of Penelope Sky’s series and trilogies except this one.

If you are wondering why I’m torturing myself with this series it’s because I have a problem. That problem is called curiosity. This is why I don’t like incomplete series. If this series was completed I would have read the first one and went directly to the last books last few chapters and I would have been done. But unfortunately that’s not the case here.
However what I did do her is open the book and directly went to the last chapter and was like OMG this bitch still is not in love with Hades (even though she says she fell in love with him SHE still wants to leave him) Like what the fuck. Talk about a drag. That guy has done so much for her and this is what the bitch says when he in a predicament
“I can’t stay here and live like that. I married you because you said you could protect me. Well, you obviously can’t, so I need to move on.” It hurt to say these things, but I had to do what I needed to do.”
AND LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING SHE IS PREGNANT. P R E G N A N T AND STILL DOING THIS CHARADE.
I honestly feel so bad for Hades. And myself. And now the last book will come god knows when. Sofia is never happy and will never be happy with anything. Yes okay she was kidnapped and raped by Maddox and now Hades is working with Maddox because apparently he doesn’t have any other option (I just read the last chapter okay?). But my point is through out the past Hades has been so good to her, committed and PATIENT with her. The least she could do was be patient with him. Not just fucking leave him. God! Why would you leave someone you “fall in love with”. And even though I did not read the previous chapters, I KNOW Hades would rather kill himself then work with Maddox. So yeah.
Side note: I hope Penelope is doing well, I read a post that due to personal reasons she will be delaying the release of her books. So hope everything is fine with her.
Oh my LORD, MY POOR FKN HADES and UGHHH BELOVED (finally) SOFIA.. WHY OH WHY!
Before I fall back into misery lemme just say this book had one of the absolute BEST scenes and moments that simply breathed life into me.. Oh you're not ready for them ASGDHSJSAKSKKDSK
ah, Sofia, my love.. THANK YOU PENELOPE SKY THANK YOU.
That being said, it did not come easy. This story.. This continuation had me crying fat, slow and sad tears.. You know the dramatic kind that just slide down over your nose and blur your vision because you're lying down in a dark, silent room and reading.. Yep, those.
I was also able to capture that moment..
My oh frigging my.. This isn't just a story, it's an insane RIDE.
Penelope has had me hooked since book one and it just keeps getting better and brutal-er and better..
And that brutal ending.. I am drained. I need some happiness for these two pronto.

Good story. Continued from book 1. Secondary character, Damien will have his book after next book.
Heroine is raped but no detail, though small hints through a nightmare and a heated conversation.
Hero is devoted to heroine. He does have offer from other woman but says no. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine but as stated before heroine is raped though no details. She was kept by an enemy for some time so it happened often.
Ended on cliffhanger.

I totally agree with Sophia, leaving Hades. WTF, was Hades thinking, not killing Maddox with the knife while he was beating him in the Meth Lab????!!!! Now they're going to be business partners, and Sophia is supposed to accept it? Hell to the NO!!!!!!!! I don't like this story anymore. Penelope, I think you dropped the ball on this one. Why do you keep letting Maddox make a fool of Hades, Sophia, and Damien, and always winning? When will this end? Why does Maddox, get to be on top all the time? Haven't Sophia and Maddox suffered enough? Maddox continues to humiliate them time and time again without any repercussion what so ever. Now Hades is officially his BITCH! It's up to Sophia to step up to the plate and take the bull by the horn and get the job done the right way by torturing and killing Maddox, her damn self. Right after she have her baby. It takes a woman to get the Damn job done right. Hades needs to forgive Damien. If not...Maddox continues to win. Hades needs to set a trap for Maddox inside the hotel and kill his ass. I'm not happy with the direction this story is going. KILL MADDOX ALREADY!!!😠😡😵😥
"Being in the bedroom with her all day would never suffocate me. But our distance did choke me."
Wow.
When everything was almost perfect, the unfortunate strikes again and it was worse than ever. Sofia and Hades fought against the demons together in this- until the end of the book where they had to let go. I’m highly impressed with how the author writes so well with emotions touching you every damn time. Every character that was related to the main characters was equally important and their relationship was beautiful.
I loved how Sofia seek'ed Hades even though she didn’t love him. It was so bewitching to read them.
I'm a bit peeved. Why oh why is this series dragging ??the villian in this story is coming across as unbeatable yet Hades is suppose to be a very powerful man . I just don't understand why the author is prolonging the end.
So the story is getting better and better with each book🥰. Like I’m so invested in Hades and Sofia relationship I don’t know who side I’m on at this point. But I will say this Hades can’t be mad at Sofia for wanting to protect herself. Granted, they both been through some traumatic experiences, but to be mad at your wife because she wants a since of security is just wild to me. #Butleronbooks
Why has it all of a sudden become so surface level. I am truly not liking it as much as Wife but I will still it out and at least finish Sofia, and Hades' story
Another fab 5 star Read... Oh my... Honestly can't love this series anymore... Dark mafia romance is the genre and again.. Completely new to me but adore Penelope's writing style.. Adore Hades and Sofia. Love number 3 just as much as number 1..dont want this series to end.. Read on kindle so quick/fast paced read 💕
The last book left on such a great cliffhanger that I couldn't wait to read this book. However...
SPOILERS: The time that Sophia was kidnapped was pretty much glazed over. You saw a clip of a day or two but that's it. She was taken for a month! Where was her inner dialogue? Hades was upset, but you didn't feel it. You didn't feel either one's pain. And when he sacrificed himself, that was the same thing. It was so bleh. Then when she finds out she was pregnant (early on mind you!) and she doesn't tell him until almost 70% in?!?! There was more turmoil in telling him that versus what she went through with being kidnapped. It was dumb and annoying. And the fact that neither one of them ever discussed the trauma was annoying and unrealistic. And the fact Hades can't forgive Damien is bull shit. If Sophia can, he can, especially if they're as close as Hades always claimed to be.
I was definitely let down with this book. I didn't bother pre-ordering the next book. I'll have to think about it. The storyline for the next book doesn't really interest me and if it's like this one, I'll be mad wasting more money.
I've enjoyed this series so far, but the antagonist was poorly developed. When Maddox kidnaps Sofia, there is so little depth in what she's feeling, maybe one or two chapters dedicated to this life altering experience that affects her and Hades relationship for the rest of the book. I wish there had been more context and character development.

Ok, so I have one big issue with this book/series. If he is so mighty and powerful, then why can’t he track one guy down? All roads lead to nowhere? It makes no sense to me. 70% of me wants to stop reading this altogether but I feel invested so I’m going to read this next book and see where that takes me.

I have to say that this story felt different than the first two books, not quite as dark and dirty as this author is known for writing. Hades and Sofia are working through their life events and relationship with each other and others around them. But we are left with needing the final book right away, something this author loves to do! Can't wait to see how this series ends.
““Maybe she didn’t understand how much I had suffered. Maybe she didn’t understand I’d cried myself to sleep every night she was gone. I was still haunted by what happened to her, and twenty years could pass and I’d feel the exact same way. Damien could have stolen from me, and I wouldn’t have cared. In this line of business, nothing could be personal. Everything was business.” .
