David Robert Green MBE (born 2 June 1953), better known as Dave 'Boy' Green, is a former British professional boxer who competed from 1974 to 1981. He is a former British and European light-welterweight champion, and a European welterweight champion.
He is the first British boxer to win the European light-welterweight title,[1] and twice challenged for the WBC welterweight title, first in 1977 against Carlos Palomino, and again in 1980 against Sugar Ray Leonard.
A very enjoyable read about a true champion in and out of the ring. The only issue is when reading on kindle there is a lot of typo errors. Great book about a great boxer who unfortunately shared his prime with boxers like Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Wilfredo Benitez, Carlos Palomino, Pipino Cuevas and Roberto Duran. Had he boxed in another weight division he probably would have been world champion.
Story is ok but reading book was hard work as the spelling and punctuation is awful. There are so many that you have to try to work out what the sentance is supposed to say and this takes away the enjoyment of the book.
Excellent biography of Dave 'Boy' Green. A real labour of love for the author. I have a hardback copy and found only one spelling mistake and an anomaly over the football team he supported, unlike the Kindle version which is purportedly full of mistakes, typos and bad grammar.
