A story of finding love in places you least expect it.

Micah Moore is young, handsome, and newly famous. Riding high from his recent success as the lead in a box office hit, the world is his oyster. To him every door is open, and there are no consequences he can’t charm his way out of.

But after a drunken car crash lands him in the hospital, Micah and his twin sister, Melanie, are sent to live with their aunt in Kimball Junction, Utah, for the ultimate attitude adjustment.

Micah is determined to hate everyone and everything in this tiny town, until he meets Navy Monroe, his talented, shy, and intelligent chemistry lab partner. But Navy doesn’t seem to care about his celebrity status, and something about her draws Micah in and has him falling fast for her.

Thrown together in a small town and unlikely circumstances, Micah breaks down Navy’s walls and finds someone more beautiful, honest and intriguing than any girl he’s ever met. With a budding film career on the line, is falling for Navy too risky, or will he chase the love story that could change his life forever?

For fans of clean and wholesome romance, à la Hallmark and Disney Channel Original Movies, Hemiola will remind you of the whirlwind of falling in love for the first time.

What Readers Are

“Hemiola is such a fun read! I couldn't put it down. This is one of the best YA novels I have ever read. The characters are so real that you get sucked into the story.” -Amazon Reviewer

“Within the very first chapter I was obsessed and emotionally connected with the characters. They are flawed and human and so very relatable, which is hard to do in YA romance novels (there is usually an element of cliché and fairytale-ness to them, but these characters are real and dynamic). I love that the story isn’t just about their romance, but their romance in the context of a pivotal time in their lives when they are going through phases and discoveries of passions and making major life decisions. It charmed me from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what else the author has in store!” -Amazon Reviewer

“I loved how complicated the characters were. It reminded me of my high school years and the ups and downs that always come along with growing up, especially since I'm a hopeless romantic!” - Amazon Reviewer

“If you are looking for a sweet story that makes you excited to turn every page, this is the book for you! Hemiola is such a fun read and a perfect reminder of how special your first love is.” - Amazon Reviewer

First before I share my thoughts let's stop and look at this cover. GORGEOUS 👏💛
Hemiola by Madison Bailey
We follow Micah and his a young teen who has made some poor decisions. He reminded me of Landon from the movie A Walk to Remember. We also follow Navy who is a girl who is focus on school & getting into collage.
This book reminded me of a Disney Channel movie. It was so sweet & wholesome!!  The relationship between the siblings on my goodness just the best! Love seeing family support.

✅YA romance
✅Great Sibling Relationship
✅Family Friendly

I will forever be an advocate for clean YA romance novels.

I loved the plot and the characters, and I loved seeing the main characters develop and grow over time.

What I appreciate most about this novel is that while it is YA and the main characters are in high school, it felt classy and mature. There were no immature antics or eye-rolling, overly dramatic moments. I also really appreciated that the parents weren’t villainized, which seems to be a regularly occurring trope in the YA genre.

3.5 A super cute, clean romance! I thought the characters were likeable but also flawed, which is how I like my characters. And the story hooked me and had me reading straight through. There were a few typos but otherwise it doesn't read like what I'm embarrassed to admit I thought a self-published book might be like. The author is a great writer and had several lines throughout that made me stop and reread them because I thought they were so pretty. While I liked Micah as the romantic interest what I really loved was Max as a brother! Every girl deserves a brother like Max 😭

I couldn’t put this book down it was such an intriguing love story and I absolutely loved it! I got chills multiple times through out the book. It was a clean romance which was so refreshing. The story wasn’t predictable which was nice. It was really nice to read a love story where you didn’t know exactly what would happen. The writing was SO good and I don’t say that lightly, her writing is smooth and this book is beautifully written! The characters are well thought out and had depth to their stories.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a cute, butterflies in your stomach love story!

SPOLIER BELOW! (My favorite parts of the book)

Micah: I loved how confident he was about Navy, he wasted no time in getting to know her. Heck he comes up with a nickname right when he meets her! “Navy blue” are you kidding me! I absolutely loved Micah’s character he was so determined and genuine. Talk about dreamy! His love for Navy was SO genuine & perfect! She played so hard to get and he was so persistent I love that!

Navy: Was so sassy and too the point when she would talk to Micah. She knew exactly what she wanted out of their friendship/relationship. I loved that she says “That’s not my name” every time he called her “Navy blue” I freaking loved that! Navy’s character was so bubbly and cute. The way Micah describes her is just beautiful!

I loved how she ended up at the school dance with Brock, but Micah came and asked if he could “steal a dance” like Go Micah! 👏

I like that their kiss didn’t happen right away, I liked how it was slow paced and realistic in the sense that he took his time to get to know her before kissing her.
If** he would’ve turned down the acting role in Paris, that would’ve been predictable. It made me sad that he left without getting to say good bye though! And It killed me that she didn’t answer his phone calls, NOT once to hear him out! Navy definitely wasn’t going to make it easy for him. I love that!

I’m glad she made sure Micah really wanted to be with her, even though the time apart was sad. It was SO sad when he said “I can’t wait to get out of here” to his mom on the phone broke my heart.

The fact that they were chem lab partners 👀

The end with the chemistry lab scene where he corners her and makes her listen to how much he loves her 👏 I got so many chills while reading it! Favorite scene by far! It was SO CUTE!

Seriously such a beautiful, inspiring, & classy love story!

I also love the siblings relationships. They had their moments but they were always so kind to each other. Max was exactly what a big brother should be!

And the fact that Melanie and Max were also dating was SO cute! That kiss when Max picks Melanie up when she comes back to Utah from Paris seriously, breath taking! I LOVE!

I read this book on a whim and I ended up really enjoying it. Hemiola is Madison Bailey’s debut novel. It was a cute and quick read, I was able to read it in a day. I genuinely enjoyed the characters and the story line.
Micah Moore suddenly finds himself suddenly famous after getting the lead role in a movie. He is riding on cloud nine, however a drunken mistake is all it takes for Micah’s world to change. He and his sister, Melanie are shipped off to live with their Aunt so that he can work on his behavior. He is determined to hate the town and the situation his father has put him in, but then he meets Navy Monroe and she changes everything. She sees him as a person and before he knows it he finds himself falling for her. But will their romance last or will it just be a short fling?
I have to admit, Micah was a handful. When you first meet him, he comes off as a little bit of a jerk but because you get to read from his perspective you kind of understand him. I grew to like him very quickly, he was down to earth in his own way. I felt for him as he struggled to make sense of the life he was living. He was suddenly thrust into the spotlight and that did a number on him. However, he was kind and observant. He was human and just a normal guy. I loved reading about him interacting with Navy, he was a different person when he was around her. She brought out the best side of him.
Navy was sweet and I liked her from the beginning. She was kind of timid, but I liked how she was really organized. I connected with her because I also like to have a plan. I thought she was really talented. Micah really helped pull her out of her shell, he encouraged to take a leap of faith. As she spent more time with Micah, she started to believe that she could try new things.
I enjoyed reading about Micah and Navy’s relationship. He helped her try new things and she kept him grounded, she didn’t let him get a big head. I also liked seeing Melanie and Max. The sibling relationships were sweet and reminded me of my own siblings, you don’t always get along but you will stand by them.
Navy and Micah had a lot to work through. He was an actor and she preferred to be on the sidelines. Although he helped her grow her confidence, she was still wary. I was so worried for them especially because I knew that Micah would have to leave eventually. It was a little rocky near the end, but they didn’t give up on each other.
I really enjoyed Hemiola and I am so excited for Unforgettable! I can’t wait to read Max and Melanie’s story. I would totally recommend Hemiola, it is a sweet and clean read. Hemiola was a great debut novel!

Within the very first chapter, I was obsessed and emotionally connected with the characters. They are flawed and human and so very relatable, which is hard to do in YA romance novels (there is usually an element of cliché and fairytale-ness to them, but these characters are real and dynamic). The chapters are written in alternating perspectives from the two lead characters which introduces an interesting dynamic that kept the storyline fast paced and deeply fascinating. It’s refreshing to read a romance novel from a male’s perspective, that isn’t sexually driven or as dense as often male characters are made out to be. Micah is complex and just as interesting to read as Navy! I love that the story isn’t just about their romance, but their romance in the context of a pivotal time in their lives when they are going through phases and discoveries of passions and making major life decisions. They were both passionate about different things and it became a story of how to make their passions align without giving up dreams and it was breathtaking to watch the process unfold and relate deeply on so many levels. I also love how big of a presence both of their families make, it’s an interesting part of romance that isn’t explored very often- but having families interact and provide input on one’s romantic life is critical and very relatable. I basically cannot say enough about how much I love every line of this book. It charmed me from start to finish and I cannot wait to see what else the author has in store!

Well my elementary School best friend wrote this book, so I was excited from the get-go. :)

Micah, a cool up-and-coming movie star gets in an alcohol-related car accident and gets sent by his father to Park City UT to change his ways. He meets a girl who treats him like a normal kid. Will they fall in love, or will his career take him other directions?

This book left me wanting more (and that's a good thing)! I loved the dynamic character, Micah and I loved how unpredictable the love story was. I definitely recommend this books to my students and anyone who likes cheesy YA Romance!

I throughly enjoyed reading this sweet clean love story. The characters, their flaws and insecurities were relatable and they were easy to root for! There were several, what I will refer to as butterfly moments where you go back and reread the previous paragraph or page to relive those tingles. I look forward to reading more from this new author!

This is such a sweet story! I don't read contemporary YA romance normally, but I'm glad I made an exception. Even if it's not my usual genre, I still loved the read. I can be a bit of a cynic about romance, yet I found myself rooting for the characters and smiling at their tender, blossoming relationship within a few chapters. This is a well-written, clean, wonderfully sweet book!

This novel is extremely sweet. I loved the relationships that developed, with main characters as well as side characters. Navy is a strong-willed girl, making it obvious she won’t fall at Micah’s feet just because he has fame. I love that despite what you think Micah would be like in a relationship, he knows a good thing when he sees one and doesn’t have a wandering eye for anyone else.

Such a cute story! Easy, afternoon romance read. I enjoyed the characters and their stories. It didn’t feel too cheesy or juvenile for being a teen romance, but also, who doesn’t love a little cheesy once in a while? 😜 would recommend!

This novel was so beautiful in its portrayal of a high school romance! Okay, I do have to admit that it was quite a lot more in depth & passionate than most high school love stories (in real life) end up being, but I loved every sentence of it. Madison has such a unique writing style that I thoroughly & fully enjoyed. The plot was exactly one of my favorite types, but oh-so different all at once. Though this is not a Christian romance book, it was very clean. For all my fellow “Hemiola” readers, can we all agree that Max is just the best & most idealistic brother ever?! Personally, I already have a wonderful brother, but Max takes fictional brothers & standards to a whole new level. I found yet another favorite novel. I can’t wait to read “Unforgettable” this November!!!
