The end to his story has already been written…

Brad Steel made a promise to his wife and children—to create a legacy born from his love for them and his desire to protect them from harm. It was a worthy ambition…

But along the way, something went terribly wrong.

Daphne Steel loves her husband beyond measure and will stand by him no matter what, even when it’s more than she can deal with. She escapes when she must, still always putting Brad and their children first.

Mysteries deepen, secrets are unveiled, and Brad vows to continue to protect his family at all costs. But is the price too high? The lies and misdeeds get easier and easier, until he descends to a place he swore he’d never go.

There’s no turning back, though, and his actions have consequences—for those he did everything to protect.

Beautifully written this book was enigmatic, steamy, heartbreaking, Helen really makes you feel what the characters are feeling, she transports you to them and makes you become them.

This series is definitely one of the best I’ve read, I can honestly say that what it made me feel is un describable, so many emotions all at once, it actually makes you think of the evils of the world but also of all the good, the love a family shares the power and strength that it gives you and the need to protect them from all that evil out there grows every day.

Brad and Daphne’s story was a powerful one for sure, their love for their children the way they protected them and protected themselves is beyond words and that ending, still has me in tears as I write this, can’t get the words out right but I hope it makes sense.

Thank you Helen for yet another wonderful story!

WOW. I absolutely adore this ending but not really to Brad and Daphne’s trilogy! Yes, trilogy, because that’s how these stories/journeys are written, in sets of three. I feel lucky that my journey into this family was here with Daphne and Brad and not with the children first. Although I love when authors write where it all began books, it drives me bananas when it’s after I’ve invested in a pile of stories about descendants lol I’m nowhere near finished with the previous trilogies so I probably shouldn’t say lucky because author’s with the talent that Helen has probably know better than me what’s lucky and what’s not LOL

This ride, Brad and Daphne, has been an epic captivating read. Every one of these books has had me glued to my kindle for hours on end. The layers to this storyline are so deep and twisted that I found myself just pausing at times thinking ”who even thinks up this stuff?” So much happens but yet time flew by while I was reading. This was an amazing saga that I look forward to continuing and catching up on! WELL DONE!

The Steel Brothers Saga is one of my all time top favorite series ever. I never want it to end!! I have been eagerly awaiting Descent, the final book of Brad and Daphne’s story. And it did not disappoint! Epic and mind blowing, it is exactly what you expect to get from Helen Hardt. She consistently delivers an amazing read, each and every time. It was brilliant, amazing and I absolutely loved it!

Edit July 22. So I accidentally reviewed Descent instead of Legacy. So this is technically my review for Legacy, although I'm sure my review for Descent will be just as glowing.

I freaking love this prequel trilogy! Bring on the next book!!! I swear, these books are like an addictive drug! I just closed this book but I already need MORE!!!

Just when you think you have everything figured out with the Steel family, Helen finds a way to slap you in the face with more bombshell information. The ending was heart wrenching and had me in tears. There were so many ups and downs, you really didn't know what to expect next.

Totally in tears....So much was uncovered and there were many times while reading this that I was down right angry and just couldn't believe how Daphne had served all that time. So many answers to go along with the twists and turns. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Bad Decisions, Good Intentions...

Mind Blowing best describes this last story of Brad and Daphne Steel. Brad Steel had hopes and dreams of having a family that he could love and protect. He had good intentions, but outside influences put a wrench in his well laid plans. Things went awry and his dreams got shattered. Brad said he would never be like his father, but consequences had Brad making decisions he never thought he would ever do. He loved his wife and Daphne adored him, he would do anything to preserve that.

Helen Hardt did a stunning job of answering all the questions and fitting all the puzzle pieces together. The Steel Brothers Saga is near and dear to my heart. I hope it never ends.

I need to start with a word of advice. Do not start Descent unless you are able to finish it that same day. The Steel Brothers saga has been building up to this point, what happened to Brad and Daphne. Their story is more than I ever expected. The ending (epilogue) will leave you in tears as your heart breaks for this tragic couple. I had no words after reading. This book will leave you with a book hangover. Helen did such an amazing job being in Daphne’s head, extremely well written. Brad is the perfect anti hero, I didn’t know if I wanted to love or hate him. Five stars will never be enough to rate Descent.

This ending broke me, reading about their story was so painful and heartbreaking that it hard to put it on to words.
There story started so bright in spite of all the pain and obstacles they had faced. So to read how everything that happened forward to them and their children was so incredibly hard. The ending twist I had figured out in the first book but now it was just confirm.
I am not sad that I decided to read this three books because I think I know now more about how action was justifiable in Brad’s head and I got to read about the incredible woman Daphne was.
Daphne and Brad love story wasn’t pretty on to read about but there love for each other was incredibly memorable.

Phenomenal!! I am a huge Steel Brothers Saga fan like so many others. These stories always keep you stuck to your seat and turning the pages!
Brad and Daphne's story is one I have wanted to know for a LONG time. Their love is indeed epic! The more you find out about their past and their beginning the more everything comes into focus.
In Descent you find out secrets you would have never guessed would be held. You get a clear picture of the path Brad was essentially forced down. Even though you want to scream at him to do the opposite thing he does more times than not, Brad is the Anti-hero we love and can see everything he did was for the love of his life.
Daphne's such an amazing character and you feel her struggles and her strength. You connect to her and are just cheering for her even though you know (if you have read the rest of the saga) what her fate is destined to be.
This is a hands down 5 star, I'd give it more if it was possible!
Helen gives us some amazing stories and this one is no different. Absolutely wonderful!

Oh my god!!!!!! Spoiler alerts ahead don’t read unless you’ve followed the books.

We all knew it was going to happen and helen hinted at certain things throughout Daphne's and brads story. I knew inside of me that Larry was behind daphnes attack. How had George allowed brad to become deeper in with the f.l.c I’ll never know. This was seriously epic. I finished it in a matter of hours and I still can’t believe that’s how it ended and what’s going to happen next I can’t wait. I hope Jonah can live all of this down for the families sake. I’m glad however brad gets his ending with daphne, he fought so hard to keep her safe but he knew they were destined to be together thru all the bad. Great job helen another amazing book

Freaking amazing!!!!!! Daddy Steel lived what seemed to be a double life filled with regret, a lot of regrets! As the story unfolds, it answers so many questions about how their kids were raised and also how much they were truly loved! I always wondered why he let Wendy lead him around by the nose...... what an evil woman. Daphne put up with so much all in the name of love. My heart broke for her. If you haven't read this series, please do before you pick this book up as it's not a stand alone. I love all of Helens books and this one knocked it out of the park! I can't wait for the next one :)

I can’t believe this story is complete. This is the end of Brad and Daphne’s story. It gives us the answers to all of the mysteries of the previous books in the Steel Family Saga. Helen Hardt wrapped it all up and I can honestly say that I have never had a series leave me so shocked, amazed, sad, happy, and angry all at once. I was left speechless when I read the last chapters of this book. I keep thinking that Helen Hardt’s last book can’t be topped but she did it again. There really is no end to her talent. Read this book. Read this series if you haven’t already. You will not be disappointed.

All the secrets revealed ... magnificent

Since I first began reading the STEEL BROTHERS SAGA I have become addicted to their story. From Craving to DESCENT Helen Hardt has kept me enraptured and captivated. DESCENT, the final piece of the puzzle in the Saga and Brad and Daphne's story, was memerising, I didn't want it to finish. It was a magnificent conclusion, Helen Hardt never once disappointed.

"The end to his story has already been written ... "

From the moment Bradford Steel met Daphne Wade all he ever wanted to do was protect and love her. In a round about way he did, however, he also destroyed the one thing he cherished the most ... his family. The love that Brad and Daphne shared was one that would only ever be found once in a lifetime. Yet, the secrets of her past and the secrets he continues to maintain and keep from her, affect the peace and happiness they both desire.

DESCENT details why Brad chose the path in life he took. Actually, it was not one he chose, but rather one he was forced into by the particular choices he made and by outside influences. Even though there were times when I became frustrated and angry with his actions, I could understand his reasons, it was obvious everything he did was because of his love for Daphne and his need to protect her. He became the man you wanted to love and hate at the same time ... he was the perfect anti-hero. Daphne received nothing but love from me. She was a strong woman, yet her mind couldn't maintain the strength she needed to cope with everything she had experienced. Her undying love for Brad and her children shines through in everything she does.

Helen Hardt has written a superb ending to this storyline. She answers all the questions that have arisen throughout the series, and has divulged some secrets and answers that hadn't arisen previously. She knew how to engage her readers through the emotions that are experienced while reading this conclusion.

I am sad to reach the final book in this storyline, however I am looking forward to the continuation of the Saga through the children of Jonah, Talon, Ryan and Marjorie in Awakening.

Descent is Book 15 in the Steel Brothers Saga and it has to be read in an order. You will not regret the time commitment to this phenomenal book series. It will keep you on edge and wanting more until you’ve learned all the secrets, intrigues, tribulations and history of the Steel family.
Descent takes us full circle and reveals the long held secrets of Brad Steel, his wife Daphne and all the decisions Brad had made in hopes to keep his family safe; only to find out that the evil, criminal forces were much stronger than his best intentions, and the indiscretions and connections he made as a very young adult would come out full force throughout his entire life and endanger the very people he holds dear the most.
I found Descent and the entire Steel Brothers saga absolutely riveting, they are some of the best romantic suspense novels I’ve ever read.

Beware-Tissues needed

This last book in Brad and Daphne's trilogy, was exceptionally written.

In this book, so much happened, that at one point, you didn't know what to expect, then information came to light, that blew that theory out of the water.

Bradford Steel- man of many lives, with many lives to protect, but failed to protect his love.
Daphne Wade Steel- the many lives, within one woman. Loved with her whole heart, the man of her dreams, and the children she birthed, even the one she didn't.

The Steel Brothers Saga, was the first series I read of Helen Hardt's. It will always be a love, I don't want to end.
But all good things always come to an end. Luckily, I'm happy to say, The Steel Brothers Saga will continue with, Awakened, book 16 in this phenomenal series...

I just turned the last page of Descent, and am already anticipating the next installment.

This is a five star book, (and entire series) but it deserves so many more.

Descent by Helen Hardt is book 15 in the Steel Brothers Saga. This continues the story of Brad Steel and Daphne Wade Steel. The first books where about their children but at book 13 'Fate' we started getting their full story that has lead to this last book for them. I do recommend read the book in order especially Brad and Daphne's story. Within these last few book we have put together the pieces that were giving through the series of Daphne and Brad's story. It has been an emotional read but Ms. Hardt is wonderful about writing the way that makes you feel the characters emotions. I am a big fan of her writing and would highly recommend it along with this series.

I have hated Brad and I have loved him. I have cried and laughed and become anxious reading this series. I fell in love with Daphne from the beginning. Questions have been answered and honestly I wasn’t expecting this epic greatness that only Helen Hardt can provide. If you haven’t read this series, you’re missing out but you need to start at the beginning. Brad and Daphne such a great story and I’m so glad it was told.
