I was born in Africa and left out in the sun too often.

After being persuaded that I wasn't going to be able to be a cowboy if I grew up, I got interested in philosophy and psychology. Tending bars proved to me they weren't as much fun as they sounded. While trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an electronic engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing.

When not writing, I fly a microlight aircraft, or get muddy on a mountain bike.

I love reading obviously. Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thrillers, History, Crime, Art, oh nearly everything.

There was very little sex no romance but lots and lots and don't forget lots of action that Amber never had time for herself let alone her house or relationships

There's a lot going on in this book I don't know how Amber ever breathes . Amber goes from one fight ,mission, investigation, and try to figure out her paranormal entities inside her to managing her house and kin . I personal don't like polyamory relationships but I understand where like vampires would need such relationships . I think Amber had too much on her plate while juggling two relationships. A lot of the words where too big for my little brain so I had to pretend I said the word right in my head I could never try to spell them out. There was too much going on for me I had to pause a lot and try to gather my intelligence to figure out who that person was and what was going on . I probably wouldn't read the rest of this series only because it was way to action packed . I couldn't imagine Amber having any time for life let alone doing what a women needs to do for personal hygiene even to wash her private parts.

A Fangtastic set of books

Vampire, werewolf and witch. I loved the tensions between the different factions in each group and that none of them trusted each other.
Great characters with realistic situations and lots of action and adventure.
I look forward to the next one 😀

Very good read

Mark is new to me, having been recommended by good friend Maria Barry. She was not wrong. I just bought the next installments in the saga!

Amber is cleverly badass

Amber has a great, devious, and somewhat mischievous mind. Great mix of crime noir, fantasy (werewolves, vampires witches), and military action. Great urban fantasy series.

Excellent development of characters. I love Amber, the female protagonist. I relate to her wanting to help everyone but feeling totally out of control and unable to fix her own issues. Extreme action, fun relationships.

WOW

This the first three books in this series. If you're interested in reading this series there are box set of three books and then there are a second half of this series in a second box set with the next three books in reading order.

Entertaining Military Fantasy

Thoroughly enjoyed this series.. I can't think of a single negative. Really well written, tons of military and paranormal action, great flow, and lots of hooks for future stories. I'll be grabbing the next box set asap!

It’s Different

First off, let me say this 1) a darn good story. At its base I think this was about a woman learning to accept who and what she is. I’m pretty unsympathetic about ‘vampire’ stories, but the plot line was good enough for me to finish the trilogy . The world building is excellent, and the treatment of their society shows much more depth than the usual 2-dimensional portrayal.
That said, I do think some warning about the sexual content would be in order. I say this because I feel a number of readers are going to be uncomfortable with the bisexual themes in the book. I agree, given the nature portrayed it was inevitable, but that doesn’t remove the issue. Using RomCon’s heat scale, this series is going to fall into the erotic scale.

Really good

Amber was in the Army when she was bitten then she joined the Police force then became a P I . She gets mixed up with Wolves and the Athernate wars over territory. She has no idea what she is.

Good read

All too often, the first book of a series draws you, but, the second or third book loses its way. This series is growing in a good direction. There are sex scenes that aren't written just for titillation. They aren't graphic enough to offend me, but, be aware there is a sex scene with two women. Otherwise, well written and intriguing in its new approach to the paranormal world.

This is an awesome series

Simply, amazingly, awesome. Action, emotion, a fast-paced plot. Real characters you come to live and deeply care about. I love this series and hope it continues for a long, long time. Very highly recommended.

A great new take on Were, Vampires and Witches

This is a very enjoyable series with a different take on the supernatural community. The main characters of Amber, Jen and Alex are good as are all the other characters. The reason I only gave it 4 stars was the endless descriptions of guns which really doesn’t interest me.

How many people can fit in one body?

Amber Farrell is a PI, a Private Investigator, in Denver. She’s also an ex- Special Forces operative, an ex-cop, a marshal arts expert, a paranormal, and fighting to NOT become a vampire. Then things get complicate. And the FBI gets involved. And werewolves. And Adepts. And a dashing business woman. And feuding factions of the Athanate. And a rogue serial killer.

Well written, imaginative, compelling paranormal storytelling. Real characters with heart and soul. Layers upon layers of secrets, action, Romance, violence and more. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Excellent series

I loved this high octane paranormal series! I’m on book 7 now and every story gets more complex, digs deeper into the characters, and weaves out the intricate plot lines, with unexpected twists and turns. Often as series progress, the plots get stale and repetitive, but this series keeps on surprising! Lots of violence, sexual situations, and swearing, so not for the faint of heart.

Awesome urban fantasy

I started reading this series 10 years ago, before I went back to reading my first love, science fiction. I decided to catch up with Amber and company but needed to refresh my memory. Luckily, I could throw money at the author by reading the boxsets in KU, since I own some of the books.

The worldbuilding is amazing, but the stories are dark with a sad body count and graphic violence. There is some humor and some sex. All three books are a definite thrill ride, filled with fascinating, likeable characters and interesting situations. I definitely recommend the Bite Back series to people who enjoy urban fantasy.

I really enjoyed this series...but I also loved Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton. This is a current day, set in (mostly) the US series that incorporates all of the paranormal types (Vampires, witches, were). Think paranormals + select military groups. The spice is somewhere between mild and medium green chili but the action is continuous. If you like Anita Blake but without so much girlie overthinking, you will love this series.

Better than I thought it would be.

Good character development. Just enough sex to keep things interesting. Well thought out plot lines. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of them.

This was an entertaining read so far. Although I can’t much relate to the character, I liked the world building and the plot to keep me going.
