My name is Amelia. That's not my real name, of course, the same as none of the characters presented in this book have their real names. I lost everything! It took me about.... 7 years to be able to admit it to myself. All these years, the most important was to keep the lie alive; under NO circumstance was I to reveal to myself the that, together with the financial collapse of 2008, out it went all our money. Gone! Locked away for decades, in the best case; or simply lost, in the worst. I said 'our money' (mine and my husband's), but I actually meant 'my' money. Because every important purchase ‘we' made, the BMW, the off plan apartment in Dubai, the pieces of land bought in Romania as 'safe, longer term investments’, they were all paid with my money! Back then, in 2007-2008, I was sitting on a nice little personal fortune of almost half a million... Now it's all gone!
