My firstborn was only three months old when I developed the story of The Maiden Ship. That was twenty-one years ago. The book didn’t get far back then because the demands of a new marriage, a new child, and so many other life callings forced me to set the story aside. It wasn’t until 2018 that I revisited The Maiden Ship. And that decision was brought on by several major life events: a mix of chronic health struggles, my firstborn leaving home for college (don’t let anyone ever tell you it’s easy when your children leave home—it is not), and a severely injured drawing arm. Art has always been my lifeline, and when my arm went, and that privilege was taken from me, a bout of depression inevitably followed. It was a tough season, and I was desperate for a creative outlet. I needed something to keep me sane amidst the chaos and pain.
So, I wrote.
Typing with my non-dominant hand took some getting used to. The process was arduous, and sometimes I used dictation when the pain was too severe. Yet, word by word, this book saved my life. This tale gave me a reason to wake up each day; it gave me a purpose. I am so thankful for this story.
I poured so much of my own personal life journey and lessons into this novel, and I'm hopeful that the premise and messages in this story will speak to the hearts of those who read it.
So, I wrote.

I admit that half of the reason why I bought this book is that I fell in love with the cover.
Dain has been living on a ship with his father since his mother died when he was 9 years old. For the last 8 years, he has been dreaming of freedom and a home with a family... Far away from the ship. Things don't go as planned when his father dies and Dain suddenly becomes the captain of The Maiden. He also finds himself involved in a magical intrigue and soon discovers that his father had a few secrets of his own.
I liked that the story followed a male character, it is a nice change of perspective since YA books often follow female main characters. Still, the characters were not very emotionally compelling, I would have liked for more complex things to happen maybe? It felt as if most of the book is basic dialogue, and the plot is not very complex and does not progress much in the 300 pages of the book. The writing is not bad, but near the end, it was mostly telling and little showing of what was happening and what the characters were feeling. For a debut novel, this is still very good, but we can see that it's the author's first published novel. While the ideas are good and there is a good foundation, there is still work to be done on the characters when it comes to depth and complexity.
The story is interesting and it is a quick read. It took me 6 days to finish this book because I didn't have the time to read much, not because it was boring. The magic system is interesting, and it is obvious that there are still a lot of mysteries to be resolved in the next book. I am intrigued to see how everything will unfold in the next book because the ending leaves us with two plotlines that will most probably be developed in the next book, but at the same time, the characters and the plot in The Maiden Ship didn't really pull me in, so I am not that curious or in a hurry to see what happens next... I might read the next book, but I honestly don't know when.
All in all, The Maiden Ship is still a good book, and I am glad I read it. I would recommend it if you are looking for an easy read with a mild (and a little bit cheesy near the end) romance, an easy pace, and a dash of sea adventure and magic. Be aware though that this is a smooth-sailing story despite the magic and secrets... The stakes never get very high, and overall, it all felt a little too easy, making it harder to really get into the story because any problem was quickly and often easily resolved.

I think the best summation of this book is simply, "absolutely enjoyable." There's nothing more satisfying then a rich mix of action, humor, mystery, brilliant characters and heart-warming moments.
The Maiden Ship had all this and more. Ryckman has created a completely unique world with a past, present and future rife with secrets, lost knowledge, dark villains and hearty heroes (can I get more of Mo, please?).
While The Maiden Ship itself is a complete story, I feel like our toes have barely gotten wet, and there is so much more I want to see expanded on and resolved.
And a few weddings sound in order (probably just because I want to see Toff forced back into fancy clothes again).

The Maiden Ship is an absolutely beautiful book, inside and out. I’m kind of cursing myself for taking so long for picking this up, but I’m very glad I did. Micheline is a wonderful person, a talented artist and now I know she’s also an incredible writer! Her prose was wonderful, her descriptions flawless and her characters were impossible not to love.
Reading this book made me very emotional and nostalgic of a story my sister and I were writing a few years ago. We finished it, and then we decided to change some things, but we didn’t get to go back to it yet. It’s there, though, and it will happen, because the characters are very dear to our hearts. The Maiden Ship reminded me of that story, because they’re both set at sea. For this reason, it felt like going home—a beautiful home, filled with characters that I fell in love with.
Dain is an amazing main character. His cinnamon roll nature should not fool you. This young man’s wit is as sharp as a blade, and though he’s sweet and often awkward (especially around girls), you can count on him to find a solution to any problem. It was hard not to love him. But a good lead needs to count on the strength of the supporting characters, and the cast of The Maiden Ship lived up to the task. I especially loved Sable, whose no-nonsense attitude and kind heart were a perfect match to Dain. The scene between the two made me smile, laugh and my heart skip several beats. The ship is strong. Mo and Toff were also amazing characters, especially Toff. For an old man, he holds many surprises.
So, yes, I loved this book, and I highly encourage everyone to read it, especially if you love character-driven stories and adventurous reads. I cannot wait for the second book because the ending has me begging for more!

If you love magic, mystery, and adventure with a pinch of romance, then you will love The Maiden Ship!
The pacing was perfect, the world building was great, and the characters were very lovable.
I really loved Dain and Sable but I think Mo is my favorite character. He was like a big wise teddy bear!
This was a great and enjoyable read! I can't wait to read where the story goes next in the next book!

There were some interesting aspects to this world and these characters, but at least 50% of this novel was blunt exposition, and because of that I just couldn't get into it.

I am enchanted by The Maiden Ship. There is simply no other way to put it. Having gotten to know the author through social media, and knowing the history behind each word on these pages made the reading experience all the more lovely, and I could see pieces of Micheline’s soul in every sentence.
The author is an artist, and that translated beautifully into her prose. The Maiden Ship reminded me of a storybook from a fairytale, where every sentence is filled with imagery and every word brings you deeper and deeper into the story, until you’re lost to it heart and soul. It was a delicate storytelling, with no great amount of action sequences and a slower narrative, which accompanied the reader through the magical events of the novel like a friend.
The Maiden Ships’s greatest strength were its characters. Dain was a wonderful protagonist, mature for his seventeen years and yet with the sensitivity and inexperience that often characterizes that age. It was so easy to warm up to him because of how relatable he was throughout the entire book. Dain wears his emotions on his sleeve. His doubts, his insecurities, his emotions made him feel incredibly real. I wanted to hug him whenever the world hurt him, I wanted to laugh with him and share in his joys when he was happy. I felt like a proud auntie as he grew more confident in his role and his journey. Dain is the kind of character who is at once righteous and flawed, who makes mistakes and lives up to them. I just love him, okay? I think you can tell!
Like every great character-driven book, Dain could count on the support of an incredible cast of secondary characters. It goes without question that I loved Sable. Her liveliness and spunky sass were a perfect counter to Dain’s personality and I couldn’t help myself from shipping them like a crazy fangirl! But I also appreciated Mo and Toff and Casper and Lydia and Ileana…gosh I loved all the characters in this book!
I was a huge fan of the representation of women in this novel in general. Women don’t always have to wield weapons to be badass. Our inner strength is the most powerful weapon of all. Be it through Ileana’s regal grace, Sable’s steely resolve or Lydia’s motherly protectiveness, we are a force to be reckoned with! But when in doubt, frying pans are excellent weapons. You’ll get it once you read the book.
So in case you couldn’t tell so far, I absolutely adored this book. I cannot wait to learn more about this world (which I am sure holds many surprises for us in the next installment!) and to be reunited with these wonderful characters.

so pleasantly surprised with how quickly I became invested in the plot and how much I love the characters. Toff and Mo are so great! And of course Dain and Sable are fantastic. I cannot wait to have more of Ileana and how her story connects into everything.
AND THAT EPILOGUE. I am glad I waited to read this until closer to the release of The Lion of the Sea - I need to know more!!!

This is a fascinating fantasy world with some interesting characters and an intriguing magic system.
I did find this a bit slow, and didn't find the characters very emotionally compelling for about half of the book. There's a lot of backstory (granted, pretty cool backstory) and worldbuilding and setup and very little action. But I hear the next one has more action, and I'm hoping that with the backstory and world setup mostly done, the next book(s) will be more engaging for me. There's definitely a lot of promise here, and it's clear Ryckman put a lot of thought, effort, and heart into building this world and crafting these characters. I'm looking forward to reading The Lion of the Sea.
I didn't connect the greatest with the writing style, and sometimes found the phrasing and some of the stylistic choices kind of distracting. But this is mostly a personal taste thing, and overall, it was minor things, and nothing that I think will detract from most people's enjoyment.
If I have one true complaint, it's that despite the fact Ryckman clearly did research on sailing ships from the amount of jargon and that the ship's parts are (I believe) all correctly named...sailors didn't relieve themselves on the poop deck. An error which came up a few times. It would bother me less if there had been a mention of the figurehead looking so beautiful and realistic the men didn't want to relieve themselves near her, or some reason why the crew apparently relieves themselves on the exact opposite part of the ship that was historically used for that purpose. The researcher in me is mildly disappointed.

Allow me to just start this review by saying PLEASE GO READ THIS BOOK as soon as you're in the mood for an adventurous and suspenseful YA nautical fantasy tale. It is SO DAMN GOOD, Y'ALL!!
Okay so the first thing that struck me about this book was how much I loved the women hiding aboard ships trope! The realization that Ileana was the wooden maiden of the ship--SO incredible, and immediately made me think--dang, this book is really about to set itself apart from any other YA fantasy! I'm an enormous fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise and Sable's dressing as a cabin boy to board the Maiden was reminiscent of Elizabeth Swan doing the same, which just connected my heart to this story and its characters that much stronger!
It's been a HOT minute since I've read a book with a teen male point-of-view, and I was a bit hesitant at first but almost immediately I began to adore everything about Dain! I loved to watch his awkward 17-year-old self develop into the strong Captain he is by the end of this novel. His banter with Sable was so on point, I love these two SO freaking much and I'm so ready for more! Sable herself is a wonderfully badass and clever leading lady, and the only thing I wish was that there were chapters from more than just Dain's perspective, because I'd love to get inside her head. What was most apparent though was how beautifully developed all of the side characters are. I really feel like I got to know Morgan Crouse, Toff, etc. extremely well, making me feel like I was part of the crew!
Apart from characters, I really enjoyed the plotline structure of the narrative as well. It was interesting to learn about the magical secrets slowly over the course of the book alongside Dain and Sable, so that it was never just a total info-dump. The world-building is rich and lush and I am SO pumped to learn more about all Rykman has crafted, especially the Wildflower!

I really enjoyed this fantasy tale. It has whimsy, mystery, romance, and so much more. For a first book in a series it definitely kept me intrigued and interested in where this story goes next.
These characters were all amazing and so well thought out. I felt that by the end I had a good grasp of everyone and love them all. I liked the unique personalities and quirks that each one came with. One of my favorites was definitely Dain, the main POV. He was adorable, yet strong and had to go through some growing pains that really added to his arc. I think the next book will only add to his demeanor as he truly steps into the Captain position.
I’m also entirely obsessed with Mo. And Toff. And Sable. And Lydia. And Tars. And Casper. And Ileana. SEE. I JUST CAN’T CHOOSE. But really, Ileana’s background and story line have me totally enthralled. I love that her story is truly just beginning and that with the the help of The Maiden Ship, I’ll hopefully get to see a happily ever after.
The romance between Dain and Sable was sweet. I looooved the banter between them and how Dain blushed a thousand times over every time he saw Sable. They radiated passion and a true connection. They better be endgame because I am here for it.
There’s a great world set-up that combines memories of the past with the present to leave an unknown future that I NEED answers for. I felt the premise was unique and I looooove books that involve the sea. I find it only enhances everything as the ship travels from one location to the next. The expansion of this world and its politics and magic system (through the series) are only going to make it even better.

I really enjoyed this fantasy tale. It has whimsy, mystery, romance, and so much more. For a first book in a series it definitely kept me intrigued and interested in where this story goes next.
These characters were all amazing and so well thought out. I felt that by the end I had a good grasp of everyone and love them all. I liked the unique personalities and quirks that each one came with. One of my favorites was definitely Dain, the main POV. He was adorable, yet strong and had to go through some growing pains that really added to his arc. I think the next book will only add to his demeanor as he truly steps into the Captain position.
I’m also entirely obsessed with Mo. And Toff. And Sable. And Lydia. And Tars. And Casper. And Ileana. SEE. I JUST CAN’T CHOOSE. But really, Ileana’s background and story line have me totally enthralled. I love that her story is truly just beginning and that with the the help of The Maiden Ship, I’ll hopefully get to see a happily ever after.
The romance between Dain and Sable was sweet. I looooved the banter between them and how Dain blushed a thousand times over every time he saw Sable. They radiated passion and a true connection. They better be endgame because I am here for it.
There’s a great world set-up that combines memories of the past with the present to leave an unknown future that I NEED answers for. I felt the premise was unique and I looooove books that involve the sea. I find it only enhances everything as the ship travels from one location to the next. The expansion of this world and its politics and magic system (through the series) are only going to make it even better.

I was so excited to read this debut novel and I have to say I enjoyed every minute of it and it was a great debut!
We follow Dain Alloway aboard his father's merchant vessel, The Maiden. Dain has always wanted to escape his life at sea and has a plan intact to do just that when one night something magical happens that just might derail those plans and change Dain's perspective of the world he lives in forever....
High sea adventure, magic, self discovery, heartwarming friendships and romance are all within these pages.
I think the pacing of the novel is done very well and I think that people who normally find books dragging their feet to be tedious will love that this book doesn't fall prey to that. The pace is brisk in a way that feels completely natural and keeps our tale moving forward.
The Characters ( both main and side) are all so lovely and maintain their distinct personalities, which If you know me you know this is a major thing I want in a book. Dain goes through great character growth and I can see from start to finish how he matures. Though I enjoy them all my favorites have to be Old Toff and Sable!
I laughed, I cried, I felt real emotions while reading and I think that is one of the marks for making a great book. The Maiden Ship receives 5 Stars from me & I recommend it!

I have to admit I loved this and I’m glad that I don’t have to wait long for the next book. Dain is extremely innocent but proves to be , smart, strong and completely capable in dangerous situations. He’s had to grow up fast at only 17 years old. Every character minus the baddies are such lovable characters. Especially Mo who’s fiercely protective of Dain. Sable is awesome. I love her whole personality. There isn’t anything to not like about Sable. The end was a shocker and I’m so excited to get on with Elden and the Princess’s story! 5 stars from me!

I haven’t read many books set primarily on the sea, but even if I had I think this one would definitely rate among the top! It had the perfect blend of magic, mystery, high stakes adventure, romance, and characters who are all so different yet vibrant and real and you can’t help but love each and every one of them in some way.
Dain is a flawed young man with the heart of a lion and I greatly enjoyed seeing everything through his eyes and watching him grow from boy to man through this whole adventure he never asked for but rose to the challenge to help and overcome many wrongs to the best of his ability. Sable is a spitfire but not without compassion and flaws of her own that intwine with Dain’s perfectly. Of the other side characters Mo was my favorite though each and every one of them have very strong personalities and I was never confused as to who was who at any given time.
The plot is a basic fantasy adventure but I never found it boring even during the slower discovering information stages and the action scenes had me holding my breath and flipping the pages to make sure everyone would be all right in the end. I did guess one plot twist at the end but it didn’t hamper my enjoyment of the book or that particular plot point as now I’m curious as to how Dain is going to handle it going forward.
I did read a review that said the characters incorrectly used the poop deck to relieve themselves, but as I know nothing about ships I can’t comment on this beyond mentioning it as a possible mistake. Also when Dain first meets Sable and she, er, throws her covering off at him leaving her naked and, um, well, that was an…interesting choice and also highly embarrassing (at least for poor Dain and me). At least nothing was described and it’s over pretty quick, though Sable does have a nonchalant attitude towards potentially walking in on Dain being naked a couple times which I thought was a little odd for a girl to not mind (because I totally would!), but it does fit her character so at least it makes sense in that regard.
A fun high seas adventure with a cast of characters I can’t wait to get to know better. This is a wonderful debut and I’m very much looking forward to the next book!

So this was a book I neither loved nor hated. It was a good middle. Better than some other books I've given 3 stars to, thus, 3.5 rounded up.
Dain's mother passed away when he was 9 and his father then decided to sail from port to port. Dain hates being confined on the ship, hates fish, he wants freedom and a home with a family.
When he's finally old enough to leave the ship his father stops him. That very night his father is murdered. Now Captain, Dain isn't leaving the ship anytime soon. A mysterious lady visits him telling him her story and Dain unravels the secrets his father was keeping.
This entire story was interesting. The whole idea, the magic system, all of it. It was easy to see that there is still a lot to unfold. There were a few different plot paths in this book and I'm sure the future books will address them. I'm still on the fence on if I'll continue the series or not. The world and characters didn't quite pull me in enough. But we will see when the second book gets announced.
But all in all, The Maiden Ship is a book I would be confident recommending for an easy read with a mild romance.

This was delightful.
If you don't already know, I am a massive fan of nautical fantasy, adding a little magic, mystery, wooden princess, flushed out characters and found family? Nothing could go wrong with that.
I also loved the representation of women in this, you don't have to be always badass and cutthroat to get respect and love.
The romance bit was also really cute.
This also reminded me a lot of a book I read last year and loved called 'Fable' by Adrienne Young.
"My mother died long ago. The only family I have now are people you see here behind me, and those who are waiting back on The Maiden."

Wow! That is the first word that comes to mind after finishing this book. I will admit going into it I didn't know much about the story but I was hooked from the very beginning. The characters were extremely likable (Mo being my favorite) and the pacing was perfect. The way the story flowed made me not want to put it down! Its a beautiful story about magic and finding ones true place in life. I absolutely loved it. I can not wait to see how Dain's story will continue.

Holy moly mackerel that ending!! I became suspicious and then my suspicion was confirmed. What a delicious twist! I need the sequel like... now. This was SO good!!! This story was so captivating and I NEED more.
What a truly remarkable tale this debut novel tells. I could have easily read it in one day if pesky adulting hadn't gotten in the way. The story flowed effortlessly and I was instantly captivated by Dain and his story. I seriously love *almost* every character. (She knows who she is and what she did... maybe I'll love her in the sequel).
Dain, Sable, Mo, Toff, Casper, Lydia, Ileana,.. even brooding Tars. I love them all! The story makes you love them all but if that isn't enough, the author is a very accomplished artist and has painted gorgeous images of each character.
I seriously may just shrivel up and die waiting for the sequel. I am SO excited for it!

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book, and I really enjoyed it! This novel has a nice brisk pace that keeps you interested and reading, but still gives you time to absorb everything going on. The plot was also very well thought out, and I loved the dynamics of the crew aboard The Maiden.
This was a debut novel, and although it’s well done, there are still parts where you can tell it’s the author’s first novel. I noticed that was particularly evident in the dialogue at some parts, and then just some of the ways the characters reacted felt a bit mechanical. Of course, writing improves with time and practice, and it was honestly super impressive for a debut novel to be this well done!
Overall, I really liked this book and am excited for the second one to come out! I can’t wait to continue Dain’s story :) I would definitely recommend The Maiden Ship!

I loved Dain, he reminded me a bit of Lord John Grey from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. From the beginning I was hooked, I just would have liked more time seeing the character's growth, seeing them evolve, and having more intimate moments with the various members of the crew. Morgan Crouse was a gem and had the best lines ever. It didn't quite feel like the story's arc was complete enough, it ended a bit too quickly and not at a point where it felt like there was a strong enough conclusion. I do think Ryckman has a natural aptitude for writing and cannot wait to see her develop and fine-tune her craft as an author as she writes even more.

I loved the pacing of this novel. It wasn't too fast or too slow, it was just right and always held your interest. It was the perfect blend of action, humour, cuteness, and adventure. It fits its genre well, easily enjoyed by teens through to adults. I loved the world building, it was vivid and engaging. I honestly couldn't put the book down. I can't wait for the sequel, and this one isn't even released until February 7th 2020!!

I enjoyed this book! It was a little slow for me at first, but once the story picked up it was so interesting and unique. I didn't expect door there to be magic, but was pleasantly surprised when it showed up and I can't wait to learn more about how the magic works and to see the characters grow and learn to use it. I really enjoyed Dain and Sable and the rest of the crew and the family they built. I can't wait until the second book comes out!

2023: Reread to prep for the next two! This is such a fun and magical read. I can't wait to read the next!

In questa recensione vi parlo di “The Maiden Ship” di Micheline Ryckman, libro d’esordio di una disegnatrice che adoro e che potete trovare su Instagram come @whimsicalillustration.
The Maiden è una nave protagonista di molte storie e superstizioni, c’è chi dice addirittura che sia posseduta da un fantasma.
Dain, però, non può farsi influenzare da queste dicerie perché The Maiden sarà la sua casa d’ora in avanti.
Sono passati nove anni da quando il piccolo Dain ha messo piede sulla nave e il suo sogno più grande è tornare a terra e crearsi una famiglia. Ma il padre, come sempre, glielo impedisce, costringendolo a rimanere sulla nave mentre lui e parte della ciurma scende a terra a fare rifornimento.
Proprio quello notte succede una cosa inimmaginabile: la polena prende vita e la Principessa Perduta compare davanti agli occhi di Dain.
Ileana è la protagonista di un’antica storia, la principessa perduta di un regno lontano ed è stata maledetta da un uomo crudele, lo stesso uomo che ha preso possesso del suo regno e che ha risucchiato tutta la magia dal mondo.

C’è una certa timidezza nella narrazione e velocità nel portare avanti il racconto, ma non per questo la storia ne risente.
La trama è davvero interessante, ricca di elementi che colgono l’attenzione del lettore, studiata perfettamente, infatti i colpi di scena sono piazzati nei momenti più adatti. Soprattutto l’ultimo: incredibile e perfetto!
La magia è la principale protagonista, una magia antica che è stata rubata e viene monopolizzata da un uomo crudele che resta per tutto il libro una sorta di mito, reso reale solamente dagli stalkers, esseri inumani che cacciano gli adepti (le persone con dei poteri).
La parte fantastica è stata curata sin nei minimi particolari, ogni scoperta è necessaria alla storia e aggiunge un altro pezzo al puzzle che l’autrice sta componendo.
I personaggi sono tutti amabili e interessanti, da Dain a Sable, al resto della ciurma.
Dain è il protagonista, lo vediamo accettare gravose responsabilità, magiche e non, è coraggioso e intraprendente, e molto impacciato con Sable.
Sable è una ragazza che ha sofferto molto e che ha vissuto un periodo molto difficile prima di approdare sulla Maiden, ma nonostante questo è forte e vivace, gentile e perspicace.
Per quanto riguarda le descrizioni, si sente che la scrittrice è una disegnatrice, utilizza tanto i colori e le scene sono presentate nei minimi dettagli.
“The Maiden Ship” è stata una lettura veloce e interessante, la storia è originale e sono davvero curiosa di leggere come continua.

Per quanto riguarda le descrizioni, si sente che la scrittrice è una disegnatrice, utilizza tanto i colori e le scene sono presentate nei minimi dettagli.
“The Maiden Ship” è stata una lettura veloce e interessante, la storia è originale e sono davvero curiosa di leggere come continua.

What’s better than reading an author’s debut novel? Nothing. Absolutely nothing!
I loved The Maiden Ship. It was such a refreshing fantasy read that is different than what is currently out there. It’s the story of Dain, a sailor who soon finds out that magic and family are very different than what he currently believes. The pace of story is perfect, nothing is drawn out and overdone while the world building is amazing! I’d love to know more about the realm of The Four Kingdoms that Ryckman has created. I need a history lesson!
My favorite thing about this book is the cast of side characters. They are more than just filler and they all add their own piece to the story. Can I get more Casper please?! *swoon*
The reason I gave this 4 and not 5 stars was just based on the writing. It was a little under developed but for a debut novel it was expected. Growth comes from experience right? I’m hoping that the author does continue to write and gives us the continuation of Dain’s story. Lord knows she can’t leave a cliff hanger like that at the end!!
If you love magic, sailors on the high sea, friendships and fantasy worlds....The Maiden Ship is for you! It’s a great story and you won’t regret reading it!

THIS BOOK WAS SO HARD TO START
I don’t like books with prologue because I know I won’t like them. And I did think I will not like this book. To be honest, I’m more confused when anything else. I thought this book was a standalone but apparently, it’s not since a lot of things have yet to be resolved.
Its my first "pirates" book and I understand why i don’t read them often, they’re just too hard to read. The way of talking is just weird for me since English is not my first language.
Nonetheless, I have to say that I did enjoy this but not as enough as I thought I would. But I did like Dain and Mo, they are my favorites for sure!!!

It's nice to read a classic fantasy story sometimes - it's got the magic, the villains and the world-building that makes a good fantasy story. I love the huge cast of characters (all of which are totally loveable, especially since the author has amazing art of them on her instagram) and the ship setting. The plot is simple but exciting and well-paced, the cover art is gorgeous and Dain is such a sweet and nuanced protagonist. I cannot wait to get more :)
