Oh brother ...

This reads like it written for young adults by a young adult, except it has some brutal murder scenes. I’ll just say up front I stopped at 30%, although I did read the epilogue. I can suspend reality for a good story, but the premise here is just too ridiculous. And the dialogue was like nails down a chalk board. At one point, they are trying to get to know each other to pull off this ruse, so Allison, after arguing a point with Lev says that she “just likes to debate, that’s why I want to be a lawyer.” Lev tells her (and this completely serious), “that’s why I became a vodka manufacturer, because I love to drink.”

That same morning, he makes her go running with him. She happens to be wearing men’s pajama pants, which is what she wore to the club the night before! While wearing these pants at the club she’s attacked in an alley that smells like “pi$$” (Lev’s words). So now she’s wearing clothes that she wore to a bar, rolled around in the alley in, and then took a jog in (until she decides to remove the pants during the run - because they kept falling off of her - and continue in her t-shirt and underwear), oh and it’s raining - and Lev talks about how he catches the scent of jasmine when she sits on the couch beside him after the run. I’m thinking he has no idea what Jasmine smells like, because she’s got to smell like trash at this point. I read a little more after this but it got no better.

If this weren’t a free read for me I would have gotten my money back. As it is, it cost me a couple of hours of my hard-earned leisure time. I cant recommend anyone else spend there time this way.

Actually, first half of the story is very good. The characters are well established, plot is promising. However, I can not find a word to describe the last 1/3 of the story. It is like a different sub story. There is not any reality about the Bratva and Bratva boss, about pregnancy, about the other stuff.. I feel like I am watching a cartoon with a lot of absurdity. I am sorry that I wasted my time and brain functions while reading this story..

As with a lot of my books, Unprotected with the Mob Boss started with a question: “What is justice?” Lev and Allison come from complete opposite ends of the spectrum on that issue. Lev might say that might makes right; that it’s a vicious world, and the only fairness to be found is that which you can enforce yourself. Allison is the other side of the coin. She believes in equality before the law, she fights for it, she embodies it.

But her rules don’t work in Lev’s reality. He distorts things, breaks things, forces her to live in the shadowy gray area between right and wrong. Learning how to cope in Lev’s underworld rocks Allison to her core. But, as I got deeper and deeper into their story, I found myself admiring Allison’s tenacity. She doesn’t give up on the essence of who she is as a person - an advocate for justice - even as she is rammed over the head again and again with the harsh truth that the methods we use to build a better world are not always the ones we pictured ourselves wielding.

As you read their love story, I encourage you to ask yourself the same questions that Allison is wrestling with: What is fair? What is right? And how do we get from wherever we are, to a world where things that are fair and right get the protection they deserve?

Enjoy!

I think this was my first SA by Fox and I really enjoyed it. The FMC was a solid character and not the usual (from her other stories) where they are dirt poor and at a disadvantage in every aspect of the relationship. I enjoyed the inner turmoil the characters each had in their own ways regarding their relationship as well. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

『⚖️ 1.5 stars 👰』

Sorry but even in Mafia Books there must be logic.

Why didn’t I like this book? It wasn’t the story per se because the premise was actually quite interesting but the execution left much to be desired. The ones responsible were the characters.

𝓐𝓵𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓸𝓷 is one of the most infuriating ‘heroines’ I have ever found, we don’t have to wait long to see her stupidity. Since the beginning she keeps repeating her immature behavior, first following the guy who just was declared innocent in the case she was part of—she wants to be a lawyer and her police chief father got her a place in the prosecution team—to a club, then going after him to the alleyway—where she almost gets raped—and last but not least, after using her pepper spray ending up killing the guy. It’s just her luck the guy was allergic. If you ask me, it was kind of ridiculous the way all this happened. Oh and don’t forget she was caught red-handed by Lev.

𝓛𝓮𝓿 starts like the most terrible and crude guy but the next day he’s worried about the wellbeing of the heroine who just happened to blackmail yesterday. Let me roll my eyes.

My problem was that they didn’t stick to their characters at least in the beginning, I got whiplash with how fast their personalities changed.

And let’s not talk about how Allison can be all indignant one moment being blackmailed by Lev and the next she’s all hot for him.

I really need to keep up with other authors! Thank goodness I was looking for something to read and stumbled onto Nicole's newest one in her Mob Boss series. Although these books are all standalones, I have been looking forward to another one of her books.

Lev and Allison are a dream couple. As anyone can imagine, this is a mob story, so things do not go as planned, and some twists and turns will keep you on your toes. But isn't that why we read these types of books?

Glad I didn’t read any reviews before starting this book. Bad reviews can really turn you off of a good book, and I’m glad I got to enjoy this one organically.

I think I liked this book because Allison is in law and wants to become a DA, while Lev is the mob boss. Ah yes, my favorite things. I’ve been getting into law recently and I think that some of the scenes in this book really got me to think about law as a career. How do you reconcile with the fact that you may have to work on a case and the clearly “guilty” guy is vindicated by the jury? The legal system isn’t perfect, despite the concepts of jury of your peers and such, but I can imagine being rather disillusioned with justice and the law seeing something like that happen. Now with Lev, I love how consistent he was throughout the novel. The descriptions of his memories of his parents in very specific recollections humanized him for me, which is something I often think authors of mafia books exclude to elevate the elusivity of a mafia hero. I loved Lev’s trait of telling the truth to Allie, “i wouldn’t lie, I just wouldn’t say anything” (not a direct quote) which just softens me out for some reason! The dynamic between Allie and her family are interesting, and I think those scenes were well done, really expressing that mental turmoil and trauma from her experiences.

There are some things to be critiqued however. I was anticipating the story to go in a very different direction, and with the world building, I definitely felt like the book had substance to do so. The author ended up writing the book to revolve around a central conflict between Marco in the Italian mob with Lev in the Bratva. The typical expected ending conflict was with Marco. But from the world building, I would have liked to see more of Allie’s conflict with the DA internship/her career, and a developed family conflict between her father’s career and her relationship with Lev. It felt like they were mid fight and with her not trusting him when suddenly something happens to Lev, she gets kidnapped, he saves her, now all this previously emphasized conflict just dissolves. There was just so much more to develop, especially with side characters Ilia and Sophie that was just neglected, which I would perhaps have liked to see this as a longer book, or even series?

But overall, great plot, great *ahem* scenes, great characters, great ending. This was a very comfortable read for me, albeit frustrating at the beginning. However, I enjoyed it thoroughly and I only wish there was more to read!

You know, I can totally see why Lev fell in love with Ally. She’s a great female character, and other authors should take note of her when they want a strong, likeable female lead. She’s tough. I totally agree with Lev on that one. She has a passion and a goal. She can take care of herself; she proved that at the start. And she accepts Lev’s help. She knows when she’s beaten. A wise person once said, “If you can’t admit your defeats, you can’t claim all your victories.” She also knows when it’s time to fight. She’s a rational person! She also doesn’t cower. She fights and takes what she wants. Lev tells her he’s letting her go? Haha, nope! You thought she was actually going to leave? She knows it’s wrong, but she can’t leave him. She follows whatever she wants to do. She’s direct most of the time, which is incredibly refreshing. When Lev and she did the thing—man I said, “FUCKIN’ SLAY, QUEEN.” Take what you want. And I liked that she stuck with her morals... mostly. Except that one exception: Lev. But that’s the thing I believe in most. What is love if there’s no loyalty? And Ally being with Lev even though her morals are solid is the greatest sign of loyalty. Kinda reminds me of Lisbon and The Professor in Money Heist.

Lev, on the other hand, while I love him—I didn’t see why Ally did. He’s cold and uncaring, but that’s what it takes to be a mafia boss. But I do see him stray from his usual behaviour for Ally... and I vibe with that. While I don’t see anything glaringly unique about his character, that doesn’t stop me from loving him—just like Ally. Maybe he’s just that great of a character that you can’t straight up tell why you love him... you just do. And you accept it. Can’t help who you love.

I’ll go as far to say this deserves 5 stars. Except a couple things stop me. Hear me out.

4.5 Ally-is-a-queen stars.

OK this book was a good read as far as the rest this one is good ....Lev is the leader of the Alekseiev Bratva in New York. Lev learned not to trust a woman at an early age (explained later in the book). Lev also owns Mariya’s Revenge that produces flavored vodka. He gets a call to meet up with the head of the Colosimo mafia. Duilio and his consigliere are in the office at Mariya’s Revenge. The Colosimo’s are trying to setup Lev. Things go wrong the leader and his right hand man are killed creating a problem with the Italian mafia for Lev ...
Then we have Allison ... Ally who is going to school to be an attorney she has been working with the DA on a drunk driving case where the man did a hit an run killing the young girl.
Allison was in a drunk driving accident years ago where her friend was killed, so she wants to see this man get punished. The man on trial is found not guilty, Allison is furious.
Allison’s dad is the Chief of Police, her roommate Julia is the EMT who saved her from the accident she was in years ago. Julia, wants Ally to go to a club because the guy she is interested in is the bartender. Ally finally agrees to go,but she finds out they are going to the Black Glacier, the bar that Jeffrey drinks at. Allison sees Jeffrey in the bar and she watches him closely, she wants to prevent him from driving drunk again and possibly killing someone else so as the night wears on Jeffrey goes out
the back door Ally follows him, Jeffrey recognizes Allison from the courtroom and he grabs her.Ally has pepper spray in her purse and she sprays Jeffrey in the face. Jeffrey has an allergic reaction and thru out jefferies reaction Ally panics and before she realizes things he is dead..
Lev was called to the Black Glacier, where he is informed the Chief of Police’s daughter was there.
Lev saw what happened with Jeffrey and he decided he could blackmail Allison into marrying him so her dad would be less likely to arrest him. When Lev tells Allison that the death of Jeffrey could ruin her dad she agreed to marry him.
But during this entire time this author makes her seem like a dimwitted college student who does not know her own mind and is constantly having flashbacks ... Lev finally lets her go and then all hell kinda breaks loose but at least there is action and some sexual scenes so if anything this book was the best read so far...in my opinion .. now on to book 6 ... yay me ... :)

Unbelievable more like it.

When I read the synopsis for the book, I thought I was going to basically read a romance book. Not a fantasy book on when I grow up I'm going to be.......the author has undergraduate school and law school mixed up.
Ally is a junior in college. Two years left as an undergrad. After that, you’ll be a law student. .-----basically -she is 5 years before she becomes an attorney IF she passes her law exam. At this point in her life she is only a high school graduate.

The author either makes her in law school or quit having her quote items from her 'law books'. She is NOT in law school.

" I also don't have money to buy a dress ......“But I’ve only shopped at, you know, cheap places. Department stores. If I’m your date, I’d assume I need something more elegant. I don’t know where to buy those things.” After I read this statement I seriously thought about walking away from this book. " I could pay you back by doing housekeeping or something like that.”............
Are we suppose to believe this nonsense? Seriously? Her father isn't a beat cop. He is the Chief of Police in a NYC. 'Daddy' makes over $300,000 a year.

Smart move on Lev's . “I want you to be the one to prosecute me,” he says, his voice hoarse. “I’ll tell the police that I’ll only confess if that’s the case. " That means he won't go to court in over 5 years....remember She is a junior in college and has NOT even gone to law school.

Okay. I have trashed this book. It could have been a good book If the author had Ally as a woman ( not a young girl) who just obtained her law degree. But she is a junior in college. Even if she passes it will be years before she is an attorney. It is so fake. I am not going to even talk about the birth control.

The positive. The character Lev was awesome. The author made him into a bad a$*. The author can write. Good grammatical editing. Content editing and research not so much.

“How you think two people in love would act.” “Well,” she muses. “The man would cradle her face, tell her that she was the most amazing woman he ever met, and carry her to the car when she’s too drunk to walk. He also wouldn’t blackmail her or try to seduce her in the middle of a gala.” “I’m not that kind of man and you’re not that kind of drunk,” I say.

‘Then how do you think two people in love would act?” she asks. I move closer to her ear again, my cheek brushing against hers. “They’d be fucking constantly.”

Nicole Fox has written another PHENOMENAL and ADDICTIVE mafia read! Unprotected by the Mob Boss is the story of Lev, the head of the Alekseiv Bratva and Mariya’s Revenge which produces vodka, and Allison, the police chief’s daughter and law student. The plot starts with Allison and the DA losing the drunk driving case in which she was assisting. This upset her as Allison had experienced a drunk driver killing her best friend. When she her roommate asks her to go to the bar she knew Jeffery, the acquitted drunk driver, frequented, she immediately agreed so she could watch out in the event he was going to drive drunk. When Jeffrey leaves the bar, Allison follows him out. Jeffrey recognizes Allison and begins to assault her. Allison responds by pepper spraying him in the face which causes a severe allergic reaction and Jeffrey’s death. In the meantime, Lev, who owns the bar, sees what occurs and decides to blackmail Allison into marrying him since he had killed two members of another mafia family. He believes her father, the police chief, will not arrest him for the murders since he can reveal Allison’s involvement in Jeffery’s death.
This book delivers drama, suspense, violence, unexpected twists and turns, an incredible story, and lots of steamy chemistry. This book deserves more than five stars. I strongly recommend it!

Fantastic

I've got to say that I thought Owned By The Mob Boss was the best book out of the others, but had i read this one first i would not have been able to make that claim. A few authors I've read get too wrapped up in the sexual content, letting that take up around 85% of the book and the story line isn't well thought out and rather weak to go with it. But it's not something Nicole does!! The story line is 94% and strong as well as captivating and the sex is what's left. It's the one thing that makes her Bratva inspired stories stand apart from all those other Bratva books!! It's well thought out and written intelligently, keeping you turning page after metaphorical page, right until the very end!! I just wish that, rather than doing the "free extended epilogues" were on the end of the actual novels and not set aside making us click the link, click the next link, to then click to open your email, to yet again click another link, to click for the novel, to then click the next link, before finally clicking to get the book and then three more clicks, one asking where to download, to click as to which device you want to read it from, finally...once you've decided which device...to do the click to open the book!!! It's annoying, just add those pages to the end of the book!! But other than that, I'd definitely recommend this book!!!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

Allison thinks that this is a fair world, that justice exists. I'm here to show her there is no such thing as innocence. In my world, it's might makes right. Kill or by killed. And I've caused my fair shard of bloodshed. But when I discover her with an innocent man's blood on her hands, we both know that there's only one way out of this mess. On her knees before me. So I give her an offer she can not refuse. Become my wife. Carry my baby. Or prepare to suffer the consequences.

This is such a great book. So great in fact that I devoured it. To say that Lev and Allison are polar opposites is a understatement. Lev is the head of the Alekseiev Bratva and Allison is the daughter of the Chief of Police. Allison has made a terrible mistake and Lev of course would be the one to discover this and use it to his advantage. He offers her a way out. He basically blackmails her into marrying him and carrying his baby. And that's all your getting out of me about the plot. You are going to love with book if you love dark mafia romances. It is a must read filled with secrets and deception, steamy moments and events that will have you on the edge of your seat. Don't miss this one.

An enthralling mafia romance that captures the reader’s attention & keeps it until the last page is turned. It has a well-paced plot filled with unexpected occurrences. The well-developed, strong-willed characters have complex personalities & displayed determination combined with some deviousness to get their goals, while another character continues to struggles to survive the dangerous world she has been thrust into.
There is: a young woman (Allison) & daughter of a police chief make a terrible mistake & is discovered by a domineering bratva mafia boss (Lev Alekseiev) who promptly blackmails her into a marriage with him, mafia/bratva, law enforcement, family issues, mafia rivalry, twists & turns, intrigue, ultimatums, blackmail, threats, verbal conflict, defiance, secrets, mystery, danger, enemies, conflict, death, murder, violence, insults, misunderstandings, deceit, betrayal, devious plans, manipulations, confrontations, discovery, explosions, injuries, abduction, decisions, physical conflict, unexpected surprises, declarations, happiness, love, contentment, steamy scenes, & a wonderful happy ending. I enjoyed reading this mafia romance & would recommend it.

“WOW” was this book action packed not to mention brutal, dark and erotic, the storyline is complex but compelling, if your looking for a sweet romance this is not the one!! Nicole has this knack of drawing you in with her explicit descriptive accounts of violence that you can actually visualise and be part of that scene being described. Allison( Ally) police chief’s daughter had ambitions of becoming a DA when she accidentally gets herself involved in a crime that lands her in the hands of Lev Alekseisv leader of the New York mafia Bratva, who was looking for just the right situation to blackmail Ally with a proposition that would not only benefit him but also ensure the police chief( Ally’s father) would be less likely to arrest him. What Lev didn’t expect was the revenge attack from the Colosimo mafia after he had killed there leaders. Not only is Levs life in danger but also Ally’s, will love conquer all?? And who if anyone will survive?? I can’t recommend this book highly highly enough be warned it will cause great anxiety and tension but it’s well worth it. I was given this as an ARC by the author in exchange for a honest voluntary review which I was happy to leave.

When you hear the saying "opposites attract" I think that Allison, who happens to be the daughter of the Chief of Police and Lev, the head of the Alekseiev Bratva might just be listed as an example of that saying. Allison wants to be a District Attorney so she can bring justice to those who are victims of crimes. Lev happens to be one of the people who is responsible for making victims of crime. When he witnesses Allison kill a man who attacked her he sees an opportunity to blackmail her into marrying her and thus making sure he has a "get our of jail free card" by becoming the son-in-law of the Chief of Police. In the end, Lev turns out to be a bad boy that no matter how upstanding Allison was before the killing, she finds him impossible to resist. For Lev, Allison becomes a distraction he never thought he would want. This is a well-written story with great character development, action, suspense and romance that I know you will enjoy.

I was given an ARC in exchange for and honest and totally voluntary review.

This is a story about Lev, the leader of the Bratva in New York City and Allison, the police chiefs daughter. Ally commits a crime, and he catches her right in the act! He decides to blackmail her with video evidence, and she actually agrees to marry him.
This drory includes conflict with Bratva vs Italian Mafia which was a good story line. It would have been nice to have a bit further back story with Levs conflict with his father, as it was a strong point in the plot, but I guess it was playing second fiddle to the romance which I really enjoyed. Although she's pressured in to the arrangement, she is really attracted t o Lev, and it's reciprocated, despite him not wanting to get emotionally involved. The way it all plays out was very interesting and the conflict with her parents was interesting to see play out too.
I really enjoyed the questions it makes you ask yourself... What would you do to protect the ones you love? How far does your morality go when you are faced with those hard decisions?

Insanely Intense & Steamy

Holy hell!! Talk about an intense violent ride!! Lev is the head of the Bratva and Ally is a simple law student who’s trying to set up her future...little does she ever expect to cross paths with the likes of Lev and never guessed how he’d blackmail her into marrying him; well that seems legit since her father is the police chief!! Though it started out as mere blackmail the chemistry and connection between Lev and Ally is combustible and literally burns down the house!!
I loved this book and was so wrapped up in their story that I read the whole book in one sitting!! There was violence and death but also the promise of a future that Ally craved for and wouldn’t settle for anything less! It’s so gratifying when a mob boss succumbs to the wiles of an innocent woman but also when the innocent woman craves for dominance!! Hot...Sexy... and so Intense!!!

Black mail turned lovers

I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Allison had her future planed out for her she was going to go to law school and become a da but that change when she went into a bar and saw the person that had made her up set she confronted him to have him turn on her as she is fighting for her life she ends up in hot water and then that's where lev steps in to take care of her problem only to have it held above her head as leverage because she is the police Chiefs daughter. Lve saw Allison and thought her dad sent her to spy on him at his club only to find out she was there for something different and then as soon as he saw what she did he took the opportunity to get Leverage over her to have him mary him to keep her dad away from him what he didn't expect was to fall in love with her he thought it would just be to keep her father to not look in to him being the leader of the Bratva

I liked how both Lev and Ally changed after they met. It was a gradual change. Natural. I liked to see how they fell in love. How they healed each other. How Lev turned into a protective, possessive, even sort of jealous man towards Ally. And how she learned to love even the worst parts of him, eventually. They were ready to sacrifice themselves to save the other.
When we first meet Lev in the beginning, he's cold, ruthless, heartless, a beast. The ice gradually melts though, and there's a passionate, caring, protective man underneath. All for Ally.
Ally is very passionate, but she's like... guarded. She doesn't let many people into her heart, except for her parents and her friend/roommate. She doesn't really have a life outside of her studies and career. She doesn't have fun. After meeting Lev, though, she starts living. And even feeling happy. Lev and Ally were good for each other. Sure, a really unconditional and weird couple. But they work well together.

Another great read within this series of books.
Allison and Lev are opposite sides of the law.Lev being the boss of the Bratva and Allison is a student of Law and whose Dad is the Chief of Police.
But Lev hides his status within the Bratva and disguises it by being the owner of night clubs and producing a well known Vodka brand. But he needs the Law on his side and what better way to do that than to Marry the daughter of the chief of Police.
So he gets leverage on Allison that would destroy her and her fathers career,so she has no option but to agree to marry him.
I was enthralled by this story and actually read this when I was sick so it got me through being sick and helped me forget how awful I felt.I was whisked away into Ally and Lev's rollercoaster of a romance and I really enjoyed it.
Fantastic read.

Great story, fast paced and kept my interest throughout.

This one is definitely my favourite of this series so far. From the first book in this series, to this one you can really see the author's growth.

This is a story about Lev, the leader of the Bratva in New York City and Allison, the police chiefs daughter. When Ally commits a crime, Lev catches her red handed and blackmail her in to agreeing to marry him to cover it up.
This is a great Mafia story and includes conflict with the Italian Mafia too which added great depth to the story. The progression of their relationship partnered with the question of morality and the law, it made for a very compelling story. Highly recommend, I will definitely be following the rest of this series and the authors further work.

Amazingly written

Wow Unprotected with the Mob boss was exciting and intense. I barely put it down. Lev and Allison story had me captivated from the get go. They both lived two different lives and though Lev lived in a world of violence; everything he did after meeting Ally was to protect her. Allison was strong and was not easily manipulated by other people’s option. The characters were will developed and the storyline was honestly one of the best I’ve read in awhile. The sex scenes were not overly intense but was super hot and not in the most traditional places which made up for the lack of foreplay. Nicole Fox did an amazing job with the book.

This FMC… bravo. Just bravo. She was a fighter to begin with. Now she too fell victim to the issue in this series and she went to a club but didn’t make it home without issues. The MMC caught her “killing” a man and used this as leverage for himself. Put all that aside though because they end up falling for each other and truly fight for their relationship. I mean the FMC did everything she could to get the villain to keep away from the MMC because she saw the rough shape the MMC was in and got the attention put onto herself. She thankfully was found not long after and both FMC and MMC managed to make it out of everything alive. It was a close call!!!

Lev and Allison's love story

Lev Alekseiev is a successful businessman, owning a top club and a premium vodka distributor. He is also head of the Bratva in NYC.
Allison Harrington is a senior in college, ready to continue in law school. Her goal is to be a district attorney. She is also the police chief's daughter.
They meet in an alley behind his club when she accidentally kills a guy with mace, after he attacked her. Lev blackmails her into dating/marrying him.
The story is very thrilling and entertaining. She is a bit self righteous but eventually tones down.
I recommend this book.

Nice story.

Lev is a very good character. He is a strong Bratva boss, but has issues with his past. Ally irks me at times. She acts more like a teenager and acts too impulsively for someone who wants to be a DA. I like the steamy scenes and the action. One other thing I did not like was how Ally and her family were considered living in working class money. Her father is chief of police in New York City. His salary would be good. Ally also would have had good social connections.

Pleasantly surprised.

I read a review for this book that said goo much in this book happened too fast and it made me unsure about reading it but I decided to give it a chance any way and I'm glad I did. Even though yes technically the events in this book happen withing a two week span they way its written makes it seem longer and didnt feel rushed to me. The only part that was annoying at times was how black and white Allison's moral standards seemed to be, but all in all I enjoyed this book.

So darn yummy and intense. A wild wicked ride of twists and turns that held me captive and loving every thrilling word as the excitement exploded from the pages and sent a blast of emotions straight to my senses keeping me glued to my kindle eating up every word. A fierce thrilling read that sure did pack one heck of an exciting punch that I would not think twice about recommending. It's so irresistible just get it and enjoy.
