Mimi Lee is in over her head. There's her new Los Angeles pet grooming shop to run, her matchmaking mother to thwart, her talking cat Marshmallow to tend to—oh, and the murder of a local breeder to solve...now if only Mimi hadn't landed herself on top of the suspect list.
Mimi Lee hoped to give Los Angeles animal lovers something to talk about with her pet grooming shop, Hollywoof. She never imagined that the first cat she said hello to would talk back or be quite so, well, catty—especially about those disastrous dates Mimi's mother keeps setting up.
When Marshmallow exposes local breeder Russ Nolan for mistreating Chihuahuas, Mimi steals some of her cat's attitude to tell Russ off. The next day the police show up at Hollywoof. Russ has been found dead, and Mimi's shouting match with him has secured her top billing as the main suspect.
Hoping to clear her name and save the pups Russ left behind, Mimi enlists help from her dreamy lawyer neighbor Josh. But even with Josh on board, it'll take Mimi and Marshmallow a lot of sleuthing and more than a little sass to get back to the pet-grooming life—and off the murder scene.

I used to be an avid reader of cozy mysteries, and I'm not sure why I fell off track with them. As I continue to age, I've found myself developing that need again to balance out the dark, heavy, and unsettling reads with books that are light, upbeat, and a little humorous. Cozy mysteries are perfect for this, because they typically envelope all the things I love about romantic comedies while inserting a good old fashioned murder or crime that needs solving. Mimi Lee checked so many of my boxes, and I'm truly grateful to have picked it up.
As the first in a new series, we spend a great deal of time getting to know Mimi, her new business, and her family/friends. What made this stand out from other cozies I've read was the own voices inclusion of Asian American culture, since the main character's mother is a Malaysian immigrant. As someone who has traveled to Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan, I was eager to learn a few new things from the author, as well as enjoy the reiteration of the aspects I've experienced from traveling abroad myself. Mimi is the daughter of an interracial couple (her mother is Asian American and her father is caucasian), and we get a taste of the blending of these two individuals and how it produced the family dynamics they practice today.
Part of the reason that I couldn't give this the full 4 stars I had anticipated was due to the fact that the romance was quite juvenile, partially due to Mimi's character seeming more like a teenager than a 25 year old woman. The instalove romance between her and Josh, her lawyer neighbor, just didn't leave me fulfilled, perhaps because there is little to no conflict inserted in the plot between them. I am, however, very excited to see where the author takes the couple in the next book, now that Josh isn't having to represent her professionally.
Cozy mysteries can be tough on the mystery portion, as it all depends on the author and how much they want the crime at the forefront of the book. Thankfully Chow did a wonderful job at making the murder mystery at hand engaging, and dare I say enjoyable, to read through. She puts a new spin on the detective duo, as this mystery is solved by a 20-something woman and her newly adopted rescue cat, Marshmallow. Did I mention he can "talk" to her? Honestly, Marshmallow stole the show, and I instantly fell in love with his dry humor and witty banter. If you're looking for a light mystery with a hint of romance and comedy, consider putting Mimi Lee Gets a Clue on your March TBR!

Cozy and cute. This was a quick fun cozy mystery with some sass and charm. Mimi it’s 25 living in LA and has just opened her own business, a dog grooming business - Hollywoof. The day her business opens she acquires a cat named Marshmallow who has a special ability... he can talk. She also has two clients with Chihuahuas who have similar ailments. When she finds out these Chihuahuas came from the same breeder she decides to confront the breeder. And then guess what? The breeder ends up dead and Mimi is suspect number one. This is the first book in this new series so we also are introduced to Mimi‘s friends and family. And we meet along with Mimi her love interest Josh.
This was fun but not purrrrfect (like what I did there?). I’m still conflicted when it comes to Marshmellow The talking cat. I really liked his personality, but I just couldn’t get over the fact he was a cat, it might take some time. Also in all honesty I prefer my cozy mysteries in small towns, this book took place in LA. There were also a lot of LA stereotypes going on, and I think because that is where I’m from I’m a little more aware. Mimi was great and I think her character will become more and more likable as the series progresses. The mystery was well developed and fun to puzzle out. This was a liked it, didn’t love it, might or might not read the next book in the series kind of book.

*** Big thank you to Berkley for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
Mimi Lee has just opened up a animal grooming place called Hollywoof. It's been slow going when a couple of customers come in and she notices that their dogs both have the same problem. Come to find out those dogs come from the same breeder, so she sets out one day to investigate. Mimi has an unfortunate encounter with the breeder and the next day he's found dead. The detective is out to prove Mimi did it and Mimi has no choice but to prove that she didn't. She starts investigating on her own with her new partner, Marshmallow. Marshmallow just happens to be her new cat, who has an unusual ability......he can communicate with Mimi. This was a fun cozy mystery and I loved Marshmallow. I will definitely read the next Sassy Cat Mystery.

Things I will suspend my disbelief for: Talking cats.
Things I will not suspend my disbelief for: A new small business owner who decides to drop everything to do police work (making her even more of a suspect) when she's suddenly the prime suspect (for no good reason) in a murder. Bad business sense, bad police work, and limited understanding of dogs and dog rescue by the author just made this painful to read.
This is supposed to be a silly mystery with a cute heroine and her talking cat, and it WAS that.
MIMI LEE GETS A CLUE is a delightful book. Full of humor, memorable characters, and lovable animals, this fast-paced story kept me entertained from beginning to end. Add in a mystery that keeps you wondering, and Chow's new series becomes the perfect pick for cozy fans.
Disclosure: I received a free, uncorrected proof of this book.
As my neighbor was known to say, never in all my born days! I was reading this book at the bakery and laughing so hard, the random guy at the next table asked me, if I was ok!
Mimi is a refreshing new sleuth. She's petite, cute, charming, fun, spunky, lovable and determined to discover the identity of a killer. And then there's Marshmallow! I love the cat's name! Marshmallow is a big puff, of apparently, overweight fur. Marshmallow has plenty of catattitude! That cat can communicate with Mimi! I laughed a LOT as I read this mystery. It's a good cozy and so much fun. I love Mimi's family. What a hoot! They are supportive, frequently enjoy a family night together and who doesn't love a group hug??? Her mother is a piece of work! She's a matchmaker and hilarious! I've read stories where the matchmaker is annoying, really an antagonist, however, Mimi's mom is great fun. I couldn't wait to see who the next victim ah, er, date would be. And! of course we have the good looking neighbor, Josh! He's a lawyer. They had a chance meeting, which was funny I might add, but, that was soon corrected and they move on. I really enjoyed reading this fun mystery and plan to read these mysteries in the future. I didn't solve this one.
This is a paws-itively wonderful book. Marshmellow, the cat who speaks to Mimi; adorable Chihuhuas and a murder mystery. This delightful book has it all.
This was such a fun cozy mystery! It reminded me of the Cat Who series thanks to the purr-sonality of Marshmallow the cat, who totally stole the show. With great humor, a unique cast of characters, and a cool setting of LA, I can't wait to read the next book!
A cute, cozy mystery that is light on the mystery and heavy on the fun and puns! I love the premise for this book, and Mimi Lee is a fun character. I totally fell in love with Marshmallow—who doesn’t kind of love knowing the deep thoughts of their pet??
You know you are in a cozy mystery when you begin a book and the setting is a cute business owned by the lead character with a punny-name—in this case, an LA pet grooming business named Hollywoof! Mim’s sister (who I loved—Mimi’s family were all great characters!) drops off a cat for Mimi, though she considers herself more of a dog person. Marshmallow isn’t just any cat though, he is an excellent communicator. This was such a fun part of the book!
The mystery itself wasn’t really forefront, since we spent quite a bit of time learning about Mimi, her family, the dates her mother sets her up on, and of course a love interest she happens to meet in her building’s laundry room. Mimi’s mother is a delight—such a fantastic character and really added great moments to the story.
When a string of injured chihuahua’s keep showing up at the groomer, Mimi suspects something is going on. All of the dogs came from the same breeder. But after she goes to confront him, the police show up. The breeder has been murdered and Mimi is a prime suspect! Luckily for Mimi, the hottie that lives in her building happens to be a lawyer and she enlists his help, while also getting to know him on a personal level.
This book is lighthearted and fun, definitely on the light side for cozy mysteries and one that is just a great escape the heaviness of life read! I loved learning more about Mimi and her family. Mimi is Malaysian-American which was something a bit different for the genre. I loved the diversity and seeing more about how her family’s culture blended together.
A fun refreshing voice in the genre, that readers will love! I would have liked a bit more emphasis on the mystery, but that is a personal preference. I loved that the abuse in dog breeding was a topic. This is something that I think has gotten more national attention in recent years, and felt timely and relevant. It is a critical issue and one that can go unnoticed for a long time.
A fun and fresh mystery that will certainly help you escape life into sunny California for a day!
Thank you to Berkley Publishing for my copy. Opinions are my own.

So much fun:) Marshmallow was a hoot, can I have visiting time with him? I'll be a good cat 🐈 sister:) wish the pet-owner telepathy was real, be awesome to communicate with my furfamily like that l.. especially when I'm working when we miss each other.
I just wish some of the cozy mysteries didn't include romance. Nothing against it but sometimes the plot gets pushed aside (luckily not the case here.. beginning of the romance was rushed but I ended up liking Josh's character more than I thought... he still could have been fleshed out more).
Grabbed this on a whim from Overdrive app:) definitely want to continue with the series.
DNF. I love cats, so I thought I might like a mystery about a talking cat, but...not so much. The whole talking cat thing didn't really work for me and the writing never drew me in.
I'm a sucker for two things: a good cozy mystery and cats. Jennifer Chow gives me both with Mimi Lee Gets a Clue. As a cat lover, I've often imagined what my cat's meows and judgy looks mean. Thanks to Mimi, I don't have to wonder because I'd imagine my cat is just as sassy and surly as Marshmallow.
Using Marshmallow to help her get information is genius and using him to communicate with other pets, especially dogs, was particularly amusing.
I loved Chow jumping in and giving Mimi a romantic partner early on so she and readers had time to focus on the mystery and not spend too much time wondering will he or won't he.
Chow has set this up to be a promising series and I'm looking forward to reading more about Mimi and Marshmallow's adventures.

Review:
As an avid pet lover, Mimi Lee Gets a Clue should make me happy. With a young pet groomer, a “talking” cat, and a murder mystery about a breeder, all should be good, right? Unfortunately, it is lacking in depth and entertainment value.
Mimi does a good deed saving a wealthy woman’s beloved dog at the beach. This leads to the appreciative owner investing in Mimi’s pet grooming business. But, just as the grand opening commences, Mimi can’t help but notice several of her new clients’ puppies don’t seem quite right. Finding that they all came from the same breeder, Mimi tries to file a complaint, bringing her to top of the police’s suspect list when said breeder is murdered. Mimi goes about trying to clear her name and help the puppies.
Being the first book in the Sassy Cat series, I expected to spend a lot of time learning about Mimi and her world, but the characters are pretty one dimensional. Mimi’s heart is in the right place, but she’s juvenile and not particularly likable, and I am not sure she knows how to do her job well. Simply brushing a dog or trimming another dog’s nails does not make her a professional groomer. She comes across as a young teen instead of a business woman in her mid-twenties. This is especially true with her romantic feelings and dealings with her neighbor Josh. And, Josh is not much better. Does he not notice that Mimi loiters, waiting for him to come home or open his apartment door? There is no angst or getting to know each other phase; they just instantly become a couple. What? I do not know if Mimi’s mother is supposed to provide comic relief or what, but I find her overbearing and unfunny. The pet owners are shallow, and everyone is rather forgettable. Marshmallow the cat and the puppies are the redeeming characters within the books pages.
My biggest problem with the story is that the murder victim is an irresponsible dog breeder. He did not deserve to die for his actions, but his breeding practices are disgraceful and make me angry. The puppy owners irritate me, too. They seem to have more money than sense and do not make their dogs’ welfare a priority. That said, the mystery itself is fair. There are a small number of suspects and not that many clues to work through. The killer’s identity did not come as a surprise nor was the big climactic moment exciting or worth the wait.
To my disappointment, Mimi Lee Gets a Clue was not the right fit for me, but other readers of pet cozies might feel differently.

Easily 5 stars, if I could rate it more I would. Marshmallow is one of the best characters I’ve ever read and the fact he’s a talking cat made this book even the better!
I think I read this in half a day. I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t care what I needed to do, read the book was all I could think about.
I loved that this took place in LA cause I’ve been there so I could picture the setting while reading it. I’m eagerly awaiting book two!
I had a feeling Mimi Lee Gets a Clue would lift my spirits in the middle of this troubling and uncertain time, and I was right. A light mystery involving an oversize talking cat named Marshmallow, a hilarious mother trying to set up her "aging" twenty-five-year-old daughter on dates, a dog-grooming business called Hollywoof, and the heroine herself, the quiet but unexpectedly fierce Mimi Lee - what's not to like? This novel is a perfect escape. The fact that it's set in Southern California adds to its sunniness.
Mimi Lee has just opened Hollywoof and her first two Chihuahua customers, both obtained from the same breeder, strike her as too quiet and suspiciously lame. As a guardian of all things dog, Mimi tracks down the breeder and reports him to the police. When he turns up dead the next morning, the police come searching for Mimi, convinced that she's the prime suspect in the murder. . . and we're off the races. Thoroughly enjoyable!
This was a light, sweet book to read. I love cozy mysteries and love to read them, especially after reading a gripping, heart pounding thriller. The star of this new series is Marshmallow the cat. I think we have all wondered exactly what our pets are thinking or saying and in this book, Marshmallow's owner, Mimi Lee, gets that chance. I have to say that Mimi's mother grated on my nerves...she was overly pushy. The "love story" with Mimi Lee's neighbor adds to the action of the book. If I am honest, this book didn't have the substance that most cozies do. It was, however, a good book and I would recommend it.
This book was....well, I finished it... I was excited to read it,.It seemed promising. Sadly, it was extremely poorly written, more plot holes and random jumps than I could count, and a the adjective selections were those that my 5th grade self would have used when writing.
I really wanted to like this but Mimi came off as much younger than she should have been. And the mother was too overbearing. None of the characters were particularly likable.
Los Angeles has a new place to take your pets for grooming. Hollywoof is operated by Mimi Lee and she just hopes she gets enough customers to keep her business afloat.
The first day her sister drops by with a surprise, a fluffy white Persian cat with big blue eyes. Mimi does prefer dogs but she can’t say no. The cat is soon named Marshmallow, a name he clearly doesn’t like and let’s er know in a surprising way.
Mimi is single but her mother has a plan for that. Mimi plays along for the most part because she has other concerns. Several customers are bringing in Chihuahuas from various services and she notices they all have health issues. When she learns that all came from the same local breeder she decides to investigate. She gets into a war of words with the man, witnessed by one of his neighbors. Mimi then reports the breeder to the proper authorities for violations. When a Police Detective Brown shows up a Hollywoof he is not there to talk about the mistreatment of animals. He is there to question her about the breeder’s murder. What!
In efforts to clear her name, Mimi starts rubbing elbows with her client’s well-to-do owners and she hires a lawyer, Josh, an easy on the eyes neighbor, she met while doing laundry. Marshmallow also becomes a key member of the investigation team.
______
I love Marshmallow! Haven’t you always wanted to know what your pet is thinking? The author created this fun character and explains how he learned everything he knows. So lighthearted and funny.
We get to know Mimi Lee pretty well in this first book of the series. She is petite, smart, mid-twenties, but you can tell she has led a bit of a sheltered life due to her upbringing. Her mother is Asian American and her father is caucasian. He’s pretty laid back. She is all in both her daughter’s business or forces one daughter, Mimi, the eldest to interfere in the younger sister’s business. Sometimes this goes unbelievably too far. Mimi has opened a new business without much of a plan and is running it with a seat of the pant’s attitude. Thankfully, she grows over the course of this book and so does her business. Her mother’s efforts to find Mimi find a man are pretty comical though. The family dynamics are interesting.
I really enjoyed this fresh take for an amateur sleuth team, not your typical Sherlock and Watson. The mystery was very well done and exceeded my expectations for the first book in a series. The actual detective on the case seemed to be glued to his initial thought even when Mimi tried to give me details she had uncovered. Breeders like the one in this story are a hot topic these days and Ms. Chow gives it a fantastic fictional spin. She plots a twisted up mystery to find who killed the awful man responsible for the poor puppies. Mimi got her clue well before I did. I was very entertained following along with her to clear her name and get justice for the lovable pooches and find them fur-ever homes.
Mimi Lee Gets A Clue gives readers an intriguing mystery with plenty of suspects and twists. I am curious to see how all the characters develop more. Mimi is more Nancy Drew than Jessica Fletcher, meaning she doesn’t have the sage experience needed the help solve complex mysteries, but her youth brings a real freshness to the cozy mystery genre. The rest of the characters need to be more fleshed out to support her and get readers engaged and invested in their lives. For me, Sassy Cat Marshmallow stole the show!
Welcome to Tea Time Tuesday, my Fellow Book Dragons! This evening’s Gem is very beautiful. It is an opaque white jade cat, beautifully carved with bright, aquamarine eyes. Hold it in your claws and you can almost feel it purring it. This cat is no ordinary cat. This cat brings wisdom, luck and a bit of romance. This cat’s name is Marshmallow and this Gem is called “Mimi Lee Gets a Clue” by Gem Maker Jennifer J. Chow.
I loved this book. It is perfect for Tea Time. Chow has created a lovely character and her world to entertain and yet allows One to relax while solving a mystery, eating delightful food and drinking tea and falling for a romantic, fallible young man. This is the perfect evening read when conditions are right for staying inside.
Her heroine, Mimi Lee, runs a pet grooming shop named Hollywoof and on her opening day, her little sister brings her a beautiful stray from a rescue. He is pure white with ocean eyes. He is extremely talented. He can talk, at least he can talk to Mimi and he is a bit on the Sherlock Holmes side, which is wonderful because Mimi is about to be up to her blow dryer in a murder investigation.
Chow uses her side characters craftily. There is Mimi’s Malaysian Mother, who speaks British Colonial English and Malaysian. This gets Mimi in trouble more often than not. Mimi’s family is a great support to her, especially her baby sister, Alice, a school teacher. Chow knows how to draw her readers in with charm, humor and warmth. Her story line builds quickly though. This is not a slow read.
If you are looking for a pick me up, pick this up! You will be very happy with yourself for doing so! Until tomorrow, I remain, your humble Book Dragon,
Drakon T. Longwitten
I received this book as a Goodreads Giveaway. Thanks to #BerkleyPrimeCrime and #berkleypress. My opinions are my own.
Jennifer Chow is a new to me author but she’s quickly moved to the top of my favorite author list. I have to admit I was drawn to MIMI LEE GETS A CLUE because I had a fluffy white Persian named Marshmallow although I called him Mel. And while he didn’t speak quite the way Marshmallow does, he, like most cats, communicated his wants and needs quite clearly.
Chow treats her readers to a well told mystery along with some cultural education and a dose of laughs. Mimi is a great character. She’s smart, compassionate and finds ways to balance her family with her business and friends. And given her mother, who is a character in and of herself, that balance is essential. I loved her mom! Unlike other stories where the mother trying to matchmaker her daughter get annoying, Mimi’s mom is a hoot! I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
We are treated to a solid array of suspects and I have to admit that each one in turn sure seemed like the one who done it.
Chow also takes readers into the world of puppy mills and corrupt breeders and balances those horrors with how a good breeder cares for their pets. I hurt for the sick and injured puppies in the story – SPOILER SPACE – They all turn out just fine with happy homes.
Once I started reading Mimi Lee Gets a Clue I couldn’t put it down. It’s a read with something for animal lovers and cozy mystery fans everywhere.
This is the first book in A Sassy Cat mystery by Jennifer J. Chow
This was a stunner of a new series by Chow. Since I am allergic to animals, reading about them is probably one of the few ways I can indulge my secret love of God's furry creatures.
I really enjoyed the gimmick of this book and thought it was done very well. Mimi Lee can hear her cat Marshmallow through a sort of psychic connection. He became like her sidekick through all the danger and mayhem.
This book centered around animals since Mimi had a dog grooming business called Hollywoof. Her lap Marshmallow uncovered a doggie den of abused animals and before she could report him completely to the authorities, the man ends up dead. And somehow Mimi Lee ends up as suspect number one.
The author very easily introduced us to a whole slew of new characters and it all felt so natural. Usually when you try to cram so many people into a book it can feel awkward and strange. None of that here. I particularly liked the addition of newbie lawyer, Josh and Detective Brown. There are hints of a bit of a crush happening for Detective Brown where Mimi is concerned. I think in the next book Mimi may find herself with more than one suitor.
Such a fun cozy romp! Totally kept me engaged all the way through. I can't wait for the next book in the series to come out. Really loving all these new to me authors bringing us such awesome new series!
If you love a good cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. You won't be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I want to thank NetGalley, the author and the publisher for allowing me to read this title.
I haven't read a cozy mystery since...high school? It's been a while, and it was never a main genre of mine, but I could not resist the cute cover or the heavy cat-ness. This is very cute!
So I really love the setup for this series. The heroine, Mimi Lee, is a pet groomer who just opened up a store called Hollywoof. Though she prefers dogs, her sister finds a cat in need of a home and gives the big fluffy white cat to Mimi, who adopts him and names him Marshmallow. Turns out Marshmallow can talk to her and her alone, because he can only speak with his owner. He is sassy, as the series name indicates, and easily my favorite character. The mystery, too, focuses on a terrible dog groomer. There are so many animals, and I love it.
On the other hand, the plot of this was rather weak. I just could not handle the way Mimi would constantly leave her struggling store in the middle of the day to go investigate or talk to a friend. Similarly, I don't believe that Josh would be able to help her as much as he did; they talk about his busy schedule, but he's generally pretty available. Aside from that, Mimi's investigating was ... not well thought out, though potentially that adds charm?
The romance had a lot of potential, but for me it almost felt like a middle grade romance. They become a couple having talked a couple of times and without having kissed. I think they kissed once in the whole book! Even though they live in the same apartment complex and have easy access. All relationships are different, but there's nothing said about this at all, so it just felt weird and made the book feel a bit juvenile.
I had fun reading this for sure, but I don't think I'll be back for book two, as I wanted a bit more romance from this than the author clearly did (which is fine! but means I'm not the right reader). I'd recommend to animal-loving cozy mystery fans who like clean reads.
3.5 stars. This was a good read but nothing special. I liked Mimi, I liked Marshmellow, the mystery was okay. Mimi has just opened a pet grooming business that’s not going so well, somehow she got mixed up with a dog breeder who is then murdered and she becomes the main suspect. Mimi is in over her head in terms of investigating the murder in an effort to clear her name. Her neighbor and eventual love interest, Josh, tries to help her along the way, but he is also navigating the legal channels of his law firm and being a new lawyer.
There’s a lot of stereotyping in the book, you know. Hollywood 🫤🫤, the characters are pretty one dimensional with not a lot of growth throughout, which was a shame. Mimi comes across as less mature and not much of a business woman☹️☹️ a bit of a stalker; and don’t get me started on Mimi’s mom 👀🙄🙄 who is just plain overbearing.
The concept of the book was good, but just not executed well. I’m willing to see if book 2 is better. 3.2-3.4 stars.
I liked Marshmallow. I thought her mom setting her up randomly was funny. I didn’t hate this - but, I HATED the “romance” and it ruined the entire book for me. I would only buy this romance if the main character was in middle school.
Josh is a cute lawyer she meets in the laundry room of their apartments. Her mom calls and in a move that can only be described as lunacy, she decides to answer the call on speaker phone so he knows it’s her mom and not a man. Which is a problem that could have solved by saying, “hi mom” when she answered the phone. Embarrassing situation ensues, he runs off. Drops his business card.
Which she then proceeds to use to stalk him at his place of work when the police tell her she’s a suspect for murder. She repeatedly asks him to work for her for free. He says no and tells her to leave. She then doesn’t take no for an answer and sits outside his apartment for an hour to ask him again repeatedly if he’ll help. He finally agrees (despite not being in criminal law). She then thinks, omg. Does this mean he likes me because he’s willing to help me for free?! Honestly between that and the talking cat I think this woman needs major help.
Their only date is pretending to be a couple to “investigate” an apartment. Some how, they end up dating. (I don’t know. I was confused too. And I read the book.) She invites him to her family game night. He says he’ll try. He texts her and says she can’t go. She is not happy. So the next morning she waits outside his apartment. He tells her he has an impromptu performance review because he is in trouble at work (because of her!!) and had to sneak to text her. She thinks what bad timing and is like you should have called to tell me! She’s selfish and doesn’t care at all that she’s causing him trouble. She’s also super smug about how great their “relationship” is. Honestly, I wanted him to be the murderer because otherwise it wouldn’t make sense for him to put up with her unless he was planning on framing her.
The police investigation was idiotic. Her investigation was too much running around and just talking to people. There was a whole side plot with her teacher sister that also made no sense.
I really liked Marshmallow. But I’m not sure even he could save the book.
