If you’re weary of merely acting like a Christian, get ready to start living like one—by abiding at the feet of Christ.
Jesus invites each of us into a new and better way of life, but His way turns human logic on its head. When you abide in Him, sorrow turns to joy, brokenness leads to vitality, and suffering brings glory.
Nate Sweeney, Directional Leader of Catalyst Church in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Founder and Directional Leader of The Abiding Network, is passionate about seeing people come to Christ and live in relationship with Him. In this substantive ten-day devotional, Nate will encourage you to draw closer to Jesus and center your life more fully on Him as you learn about and reflect on the biblical Beatitudes from His powerful Sermon on the Mount.
Abiding Daily serves as both an introduction and a companion to Nate’s book Abiding at the Feet of A Study on the Beatitudes. Both this devotional and the in-depth study provide biblically grounded guidance in finding the direction you need to walk in true discipleship.
If you are ready to trade in the exhausting pursuit of an easy life for the soul rest Jesus offers, Abiding Daily will help you discover and experience the power that launched the gospel—the power of abiding in Christ.
This devotional was absolutely inspiring! I learned so much just from this 10 day devotional about the Beautitudes (sp?). I would recommend this book and it would make a great sermon/lesson in churches
During my journey to be a good Christian woman, one of the first things I discovered is that I am blessed by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, regardless of my situation. I made this discovery as I read the Beatitudes He listed during His Sermon on the Mount:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
In reading the above, the dichotomy in each of the eight verses of the Beatitudes becomes quite evident, where the first half of each verse inspires us, and the second half confronts our faith. We need to keep in mind that whenever we desire the Lord to transform ourselves so we can be more like Jesus, we also need to keep in mind that we need His grace to accomplish these teachings of Jesus, which will occur according to His time His way.
This devotional endeavor by author Nate Sweeney is intended to give readers a starting point for them to discover the path they need to follow to become a disciple of the Lord. The author desires his readers to become more than they are now and become all they can be in their relationship with themselves and the Lord.
As a result of this book's contents and where it intends to take its readers, I have given Mr. Sweeney 5 STARS for his endeavor here.
I don’t know what to think of this book. Initially, I am unable to find any errors outside of the “Day one“ devotion. The errors I found were not doctrinal. In purely explanatory terms, Sweeney has done a good job. However, I am unfamiliar with Sweeney himself and his theology, and am unwilling to give my full approval to so brief a book without knowing more.
This book is very insightful and brought understanding to The Beatitudes and brought conviction. It usually takes me a while to sink into a book and complete it. I found it to be well written to the point that I kept coming back. I highly recommend this book.
Wonderful devotional series. Sweeney looks much deeper than the standard look at the Beatitudes, confronting the reader with the ways that he/she might just skim the surface of these words of Jesus.
