When Chance's first love commits suicide, it completely turns her world upside down. Not sure of how to move on with her life, Chance falls deep into depression. Refusing to let her fall, her family surrounds her with the unconditional love and support she desperately needs. Yet it's not enough, and Chance continues on a fast and steady downward path.Suddenly Chance crosses paths with the infamous Tristin “Hunt” Devoe, and from there, things only get worse. Tristin is abusive and controlling. He isolates Chance from everything she knows, forcing her to depend on him solely. Afraid, battered, and lost, Chance desperately searches for a way out. When the opportunity presents itself, Chance runs and never looks back. Blindly, Chance tries to piece her life back together. Yet she is haunted by everything Tristin put her through. Chance feels broken, scared, and hopeless.Raziel White then enters the picture, and Chance truly believes that he is a gift from God, yet the hold Tristin has on her holds her back. Chance feels that she is what people consider damaged goods, and she will ever be good enough for him. Raziel puts his all into trying to convince Chance that she is beautiful and deserves another shot at happiness, but will Chance step out on faith and take one last shot at love or will she leave it?
This book was ok. Actually chance got on my nerves. I understand everything about domestic violence. I've been through it. After a certain point of reading it became too much do the her issues. They just dragged on and on. I started to get bored.
I felt the pain of this story deep down in my soul. I know how it feels to love someone that deep and feel so alone. But, I relied on my faith and family to pull me through.
I'm sorry Chance got caught with Hunt, but I didn't understand why she let him abuse, bring other women in and accepted it. She gave up on life, literally after Jeff left.
Sad thing is, she had someone come into her life and love her unconditionally, but yet she let Hunt win.
This was a hard story to read because of the subject matter but the writer handles it with such class. Chance was a character that you wanted to cheer for and you wanted her to win but, Chance never gave herself a chance to get on the road to recovery. I think that the people around should.of.perhaps encouraged her to enter into a more intensive therapy. I loved how a good spirit of a man like Raziel gave her glimpse of what real love could look like. This was a good story on a subject that sadly ends up happening due to this situation.
I was hoping Chance and Raziel got together and they will be good but she could never get over Jeff it hurts when your first love dies mines was murdered and even though I love my boyfriend I still think about him always great read
The story was well written. I would definitely recommend. It was like watching a movie. shed a few tears it just show real life out comes and sometimes no matter how good situations turn around if you don't fight those demons they will win.
Omg this story was so good and emotional I felt everything she was going it had me on a up and down roller coaster I really wished for a better ending but it definitely held some truth to it
