It’s been months since the zombie outbreak took over America, and Alex Duncan is slipping.

She’s the leader her father always prepared her to become, but now life is about more than survival… she’s the only one who can lead her family into a new future, and the pressure is on to make a new beginning.

Alex is barely keeping her head above water when she’s taken by a local gang. The worst of society has come together to create a horrifying place of carnage during the apocalypse, and Alex has been dragged right in the middle of it.

The Duncan family must unite to save Alex. They won’t stop until Alex is rescued… or until all of them are dead.
Afterward, the Duncan family will never be the same.

As a child, Courtney always had aspirations of being a writer. She participated in journalism in school. At home, she wrote short stories, poetry and filled diary pages. Somewhere along the line becoming an adult took priority over her writing and she went to work in business operations.

Now as a mother to three beautiful children, she tells them all the time to follow their dreams, be whatever they want. Those lessons reminded her how much she loved writing. She finally opened the door to making writing a real priority in her life.

Living outside of Portland, Oregon she loves the green and beauty Oregon offers. When she’s not matching wits with her children, her crazy Siberian Husky or her bi-polar cats, she enjoys binge reading, hikes and touring wineries. Courtney and her husband, the love of her life, enjoy traveling the world whenever they can get a free moment. And cruises….she loves cruising. She’s especially fond of life, laughter and sarcasm – and she’s excited to share all of that and more with her readers!

This book took it further than the previous ones had, more emotional, more dark and gritty as Alex found herself kidnapped by a drug trafficker, she fought tooth and nail for her life making me sit on the edge of my seat throughout, because if anything happened to her I don't think the others could carry on without her.

But one of their own within the pack of blood and non blood family wasn’t so lucky, he didn’t survive his time under the commanders encampment, it was gut wrenching to read, because he was so much a part of the Duncan’s crew. He’d finally found his place within the Duncan family for it only to be taken away from him by a callous act.

Now the Duncan’s have had to leave their safe haven of the compound, the whole group on the run, children and adults.

I'm really enjoying this series, getting a feel for the Duncan siblings, their unconventional upbringings, the bond they shared, each bringing a unique skill set in this changed world they're thrust into.

This book had me mad, in tears, shocked and gave me a laugh or 2. With Marcus dead Callahan is gonna have one hell of a fight on his hands. Alex should have taken the killing shot when she had the chance. They aren't gonna get as easy a shot as they had.

Candace and Easts father is heading their way and I hope he believes the truth over the lies Callahan has told his soldiers who have been blindly following his lead.

I can't wait till the next book when the Duncan Clan hopefully Kills that bastard.

Alex is seriously my favourite character in the Sundown series. She's so badass!!

And my goodness, Courtney Konstantin... why are you playing with my emotions like this? Poor Henry and Billie losing their favourite. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

I need the next book ASAP!

I loved every book in the series but this one.
It was such a disappointment for me. It was a dumb stray off the original storyline and not what a truly trained Alex character would do in my mind, and the pimpy war lord was ridiculous. The character was one dimensional. "The Suit" as arch villian is also starting to become one dimensional. There would be no doubt pimpy war lords but the amount of times the name was written was just about every other sentence...it was monotonous.
I hope she refocuses the story.

Oh man, oh man, this book gets you right in the feels.

Alex is feeling the pressure of being the leader and honestly I can't blame her.
She has a lot of people counting on her to make the right choices and Max sure does not make it easy on her.

So when she needs this supply run and everything that happens in with it well some might says she should have just stayed at the compound but I think if she did she might have went a little nutty. lol.
I mean will she still go a little nutty after all this anyways.

I can't even predict what is to come in the next book all I know is this book jam packed with action. And I gotta say a lot of karma. (hehe) I don't feel bad about that one little bit.

Again the narration was great on to the next!

Leaving Montana...

I really feel connected to these characters. Alex, Max & Rafe, three siblings who have each other's back. And all of their friends they have welcomed in their compound. A place built by their father who also taught them how to
survive.
They have survived .
Alex & Marcus go on a scavenging hunt. Alex gets taken by some very bad people. Marcus survives & realizes he must make it home to be able to rescue Alex. The excitement begins.
This author has written a worthy continuation of her series. I can't wait to find out their next adventure. Which means someone will be traveling again & someone will be missing!
Thanks Courtney for a fun read...😁

Alex is a boss !

This ended so sadly but was so great at the same time. It left off either as this could be the last if needed but I'm hoping and thinking we are going to get more. This is a series that when a new book comes out I would have to start all over from number 1 before reading.
I originally thought maybe Max was the strongest but after this book I have to switch again to Alex.
My greatest opinion for any book I truly love is " they were not long enough!" I don't say this to criticize. I say this because I loved them all so much I just keep wanting to read more.
Another great book in the series I will be happy to suggest for the zompocolyps lovers

The ups and downs! Like yeah survival and zombies they have that under control by now but then bam other humans doing shady stuff. You get to see Alex finally dealing with the emotions that have been put off for so long but then she’s taken and she’s back into survival mode.
I do feel like this story has been told before, the strong woman being taken and some man trying to break her but she’s a fighter, but it’s definitely different and didn’t feel like I was reading the same story but zombie version. Also very different from the first three books and still just as much of a must read.

Another great novel

Wow, just wow! I had given up on ever knowing how the Duncan's survival progressed. Please to know that most are still alive and fighting. And Storm the wonder dog is still there, just a hint from a big fan, more about Storm please!

Now I am hooked again on this post apocalyptic world, I hope that the next installment will not be so far in the future. Highly recommend this series for anyone who likes action and thrilling plots.

Not as good as previous books

I have to say I’m not a fan of this book. felt this book was not only very dark but also had holes you could drive a truck through. I lost all respect for Alex in the chase for Marcus and question her ability to lead. Not a fan of the others world stuff’ either. I think the author under uses griff to being his military training is not being used at all which is frustrating.

Can’t wait for the next in the series

I really liked these three books, I liked that the leader is a strong female and love how the group looks out for each other and extends their family ties. I have recommended this series to several friends and family. Looking forward to the next in the series to see where the Duncan family ends up and overcomes all the obstacles in their path,

Great story

Not just about surviving the zombies, but exposing the truth makes for a good story. The characters are good and their resiliency and pepper background remove the negative connotation associated with being prepared. Alex is my favorite, I really didn't like the start of this book but the author kept it realistic, always going to be unlawful opportunists. I am ready for the next book to see if MAJ Callahan and the Suit are still around.

Can't put down

I'm really loving this series. It's suspenseful and keeps me wanting more. The one thing I don't understand is the lack of acknowledgement of the romance that's happening. As a woman author, how are you ignoring the actual depth of human connection and love? I care much less about whether it's a bowie or machete or tactical tomahawk than about how those first kisses happened. I'll keep reading. I'm all in. But hard-core badasses enjoy passion.

I like the way this series is written. There are three siblings of a prepper. The first three books tell the story from the perspective of each sibling, and books 4-6 continue that. The plot is thickening. This isn't a series read. It's a little fun and was available on Kindle Unlimited. Sometimes, having a complete series at your fingertips so you don't have to think about what to read next is luxurious. Onto book 5...

I love finding stories by an author I really enjoy and this series is no exception however I just want to binge every book so I know what’s happening next! My problem is as I’ve read this book it’s only just been released.

Review

I really have enjoyed reading this series. The storyline is very exciting and the way the characters have come together is amazing. I still hope that Smith, not Simon, thank you auto correct, needs a second chance and will become a part of the team. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Fourth book in this series and the ideas and characters are still fresh and interesting. Although hear pulling in the past, this story but tears to my eyes. At the end it is about family, can’t wait for the next book.

I enjoyed this instalment of the series, and I have to say I still feel like Alex is probably my favourite of the Duncans.

I absolutely cannot stand Max, and this book just confirmed that further.

Captivating

Once again, I find myself struggling with putting the book down before I can finish. Each page drew me deeper into the story, and I hating having to put the book away to go back to work. On to the next book in the series

“You’re always so sure everything will be ok.”
“I have to be sure. Because I have you four kids. I will never believe that there’s not a way to survive so you all have a life to live.”

I am unwell.

On to book 5…😭🫡

Another great adventure.

Plenty of action and heartbreak in this book. I love that no matter how hard it gets or what comes at them this family stays together, they haven't yet given up on humanity even being faced with terrors of the walking dead and the still living.

3.5 stars rounded up.

The story was really good and there was A LOT of action. The biggest issue I had with this book was the title “Noble Lord”. It was so cringey. Every time I heard that name I cringed.

I am just loving this series. In this book, not only is the group dealing with zombies, but now we have more human villains. There were definitely moments when my heart was beating fast with adrenaline.
