Mackenzie Coven rule number one. Do not lose your cat.
Lexie, aka Alexandra Elizabeth Mackenzie, the incoming High Chair of the American Continent and all Circumferential Domains Pertaining to the Mackenzie Coven (she really needs to come up with an acronym) has been asked to step up to the plate and attend a prestigious feline extravaganza at Chelsea Manor. The task is simple enough. Represent the coven, get herself and Luna, the cat which has as yet to decide if she’ll stay with her or not, there in one piece meaning… no more crash-landing or leaving bits and pieces of Luna behind. Two out of three isn’t bad. Lexie figures the rest will be simple enough until she realizes she’s crash-landed in a room with a dead man in it - a man who’d had a fascination for stuffed cats.
There are only a handful of guests attending this exclusive feline soiree and they all have their eyes on Luna, but one of them also has blood on their hands.
If they killed once, they’ll kill again.
Clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.
Great loved book 1 and 2 reading these are amazing. I can see myself in the same problems. They are a wonderful way to escape and have fun without leaving home.
Oh now I'm hooked! Having just read the second of the delightful stories of the Mackenzie Clan, I confess to being enchanted by the story line and can only recommend this as a great read. Humorous, exciting and captivating! Lexi's solo "test" is entirely successful and seems to culminate in a bonding between her and Luna. And welcome to Mom as well - there must be more Mackenzie's around and I look forward to meeting them all. Once again a great read and well worth the enjoyable time spent reading it.
I like this series. In this, the second book, Lexie and Luna go on a trip together. Luna (the cat) is deciding if she wants to be a companion to Lexie. The two of them attend an exclusive feline weekend which leads to lots of witchy adventures. The action in this book moves better than in the first one and the mystery is not easily guessed. The humour is funnier although still a bit more of the snarky kind, but I enjoy sarcasm. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
This is a fun series so far! Gonna get the next book immediately so that I can see what happens next. Funny situations and great characters kept me entertained to the end. Well done!
Lexi gets a black cat even though she is a dog person. She isn't crazy about her Orange gabby Luna. The feeling is mutual, it's been a couple of weeks and the trial whether Luna chooses to stay with Lexi isn't by well. They have a important cat conference to go to for Luna. Where Lexi is perplexed over the people interested in Luna. When they drop in by the wrong room by mistake and find a dead body things go sideways. Especially when Lexi breaks the first rule DON'T LOSE YOUR CAT!!! Will the two bond or will Lexi trade Luna for a Corgi?
This one grabs you from the first page, a reluctant rookie witch and her even more reluctant cat familiar plunge headlong into murder mystery and mayhem. Great characters intriguing storylines and a hunky guardian all add up to a brilliant fun read, Baz
Great read. It kept you guessing and wondering who it was. I couldn’t put it down finished it one day. If you like books about witches and suspense you will love this book.
The Mackenzie witches have one rule...never lose your cat. That should not be too difficult, unless you are an untried High Chair and have not quite got the knack of your magic yet!!!
My second or third time reading this series and I still love it. The characters are so well written and the story flows. I also love how there is an additional storyline that links all of the books together whilst the murder gets solved within each book.
Lexie is trying to come to an understanding with her cat, Luna. The cat chose her, but doesn't appear to be too happy about it. Lexie is practicing her "landings" - when she "travels" magically, she always seems to land in a closet, whether at the destination or in her own apartment. Then her cousins appear and inform Lexie that she must represent the coven at Lord Bradbury's annual feline soiree, since they are too busy to go. When Lexie starts to pack for her trip to Chelsea Manor, her mother appears and packs for her - all nice clothes instead of her usual jeans and t-shirts. Lexie eventually manages the trip, complete with suitcase and cat, but of course lands in a closet - in the bedroom of a dead man. She manages to convince the butler that she got lost, but nobody seems to concerned that the man, Lord Bradbury's brother, is dead. Lexie and Luna meet all the other attendees and their cats, including Jack, who is obviously an old boyfriend of Luna's. Everyone seems to know Luna and to have an excessive interest in her. The police detective investigating the murder turns out to be helpful and he and Lexie finally solve the case. Entertaining continuation of the series.
Alexandra Elisabeth Mackenzie is on the case again. This time an invitation for her new familiar Luna. Things seem like they are going according to the invitation, until extra special attention is being paid to Luna. This training process seems to be testing Lexie's patience when she learns that her new familiar, a cat named Luna; gets the choice in picking if she will stay or she will go. Cut off from her cousins abroad Catherine and Mirabelle, Lexie is forced to take some pointers in fashion from her Mother Morg.
And Morg is not making things fine and dandy when she enlists (spells) Lexie's Guardian Johnathan to ," lend a hand!" It seems that they are both stuck in uncomfortable predicaments on this case and have to learn to overcome their new norms.
Being a Mackenzie Witch is not easy and Lexie is learning on the fly. Speaking of fly, can she believe her eyes or is her mind playing tricks on her. This very sassy and privledged feline is not about to get the best of Lexie and it seems that they may be a perfect match. Let's see who will make the rules and who will yield when this invite becomes a life and death situation.
Lexie is working on her position as Incoming High Chair of the American Continent and all Circumferential Domains Pertaining to the Mackenzie Coven when a new wrinkle appears in the cat shaped form of Luna. Lexie, being a dog person, isn't that enamored with the prospect of being on a trial period for Luna to decide whether she wants to stay or not but it appears Mackenzie witches must have a cat familiar.
To make matters more difficult the pair have been invited to join a rather exclusive gathering for the crème de la crème of the cat world at Lord Bradbury's home. As Lexie feels things can't get any worse she overshoots their arrival landing in a closet and stumbling into a dead body. Introductions to the O'Rourke detective Dante provides some help but where are Mira and Cat when she needs them? And with Morg, her mother, compelling Jonathan to become the perfect housemaid Lexie's pretty much alone.
Can Lexie bond with Luna in time to save her from being catnapped and stuffed or will she be caught napping herself?
Lol Witch Indeed is the second book in the series and picks up where Witch Inheritance left off. Lexie has a new companion as you would expect, a cat named Luna. Reading the shenanigans that these two encounter and the extent of their back-and-forth spirited rivalry will make you laugh out loud and have a smile on your face the entire time. Lexie is slowly discovering what it means to be a witch and learning new parts of it. She still hasn’t embraced it fully, but that doesn’t stop her from diving in head first. I enjoyed the addition of Luna and seeing how she added to the plot. It was nice to get a glimpse of Morg (Lexie’s mom) and I have a feeling there is a lot of history there that will come in future books. This story had humor, Witchery, and some mystery. I like the concept of the books, but am hoping that the mystery aspect gets a little bigger role. I feel like each story is missing that suspense/cozy mystery hook I was expecting. Overall, it’s a great series so far that I plan to continue to read.
Lexie, fresh off her success at House St. James is sent on another assignment. This one should be easy as her goal is to impress her new cat by taking her to a ground society event. Luna is a special cat. All witches should have a cat familiar and Lexie is tasked with not losing hers. Even though technically, she is on probation. When they arrive at the mansion, the stumble upon a murdered man. Now they will need to help Dante, another guardian, to help solve the murder before someone tries to steal Luna out from under Lexie. Will Lexie manage to get home safely and as the proud new companion to Luna or will she lose the cat she didn't want in the first place?
This one was better and not as repetitive feeling as the last book. Luna was a cute addition to Lexie's family. We also get to meet her mom, Morgana.
Lexie, aka Alexandra Elizabeth Mackenzie, the incoming High Chair of the American Continent and all Circumferential Domains Pertaining to the Mackenzie Coven.
Can't that be shortened?
Lexie along with her cat, who is her temporary familiar (until Luna decides if she'll stay or not) goes to what is basically an over the top cat show.
With Lexi still learning to travel, she winds up in yet another (Wrong) closet, and emerges to find a dead man on the bed.
It appears that Luna is something of a celebrity among the cat people, and while they're trying to find the murderer, Lexi has her hands full with someone trying to take Luna for themselves.
Yes, this novel has a murder, but it's about CATS. Witches have cats. I know women who talk to their cats.
In WITCH INDEED, Lexie, a witch in training, has a cat named Luna that talks back and is this mystery's star. But, lucky for her, the man who died wanted to stuff her, and the murderer almost captured her.
Losing your cat is a no, no. The second time Lexie losses Luna the world comes to an end.
I am just kidding. But the cat convention does with an unexpected ending.
This is the second book I have read in this series and I enjoyed it more than the first, although both were fun reads. Poor Lexie, as a witch, she has problems and now the Coven board of compliance has told her she better get her stuff together or else. Stepping into trouble, Lexie is lucky to have her trusty cat Luna by her side. Although there is a lot going on in the story, readers will be able to follow along and enjoy the read.
After a bit of a rocky start in the first book, this series hits its stride with Witch Indeed. It's fun, it's fresh, and it's a nice clean read too. I particularly enjoyed the interactions between the feisty heroine and the cat, Luna - animal characters always enhance light fiction provided they're done well, and this on is done very well, with all the snark that makes her really believable as a cat. Looking forward to more in this series.
I would make a lousy witch and an even worse, head of witches, so I can see Lexie's reaction to some of the strangeness the Lexie character had to put up with. "Revenge is a dish best served cold" would be my motto if they had thrown me in the deep end, like Lexie. I really like the characters, even if it is difficult to keep up with the action. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out who killed the brother of the house for the cat get together. I do recommend this book.
Sonias' story line if always pretty good, and this was no exception. She includes some unexpected twists, just to keep you interested. Alex McKenzie is coming up in the witch world, whether she really wants to or not. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
This one has a lot of humor, a bumbling, newby witch, a very reluctant, feline familiar "companion", a reluctant " guardian", and no sex. To be honest, she's bumbling because her family refuses to instruct or help her, and they give very cryptic answers to her questions, then send her into situations that end up being murder investigations. Recommend.
I'm enjoying reading this series. I feel warm and cozy when I find new series. I love meeting the new cast and growing with them as the stories unfold. I started with the Trixie Belden books 50 years ago. These books keep the action moving and makes a cold, grey day one of my favorite indulgences.
Lexie Mackenzie meets her familiar, Luna, and takes her to a cat festival. Of course, there is a murder, with lots of suspects. And a bounty on Luna's head!
We also meet Lexie's mom, Morgana, Lexie's guardian Jonathan, and many other cats.
Cute. Lexi is a reluctant witch in training. She discovers that she enjoys some parts, such as staying in luxurious places an wearing designer clothing. But, there is always a mystery to solve and some degree of personal risk.
A witch in training, her cat companion, looking for a killer. Also someone wants her cat. What could possibly go wrong? Who is lying and why? Cat people, what would you do for your cat?
Cats n witches aren't always in tune withdrawn other!
A nifty story about a new to witch life girl and the cat who is supposed to be her partner. Getting these two to work as a team gives the reader laughter and worry.
Interesting series of a new witch coming into her powers and being matched with her cat companion. She also has a guardian who turns out to be the boss she worked for at the local bar. So far she has had 2 amazing adventures and I look forward to seeing what happens next.
