From the funniest voice in young fiction today, the latest in this charming series of rhyming tales for ages 5+ Ava and her invisible cat perform at the circus!
‘In a change to our scheduled programme tonight, I proudly present, for your joy and delight . . .' (in the glare of the bulbs, Ava tipped her tall hat) ‘AMAZING AVA! AAAAAAND . . . HER INVISIBLE CAT!’
Ava and Squishy are going to see the circus, but when one of the acts doesn't turn up they must perform in his place!
Another joyful, hilarious, instant classic of a tale for five year olds and upwards, stunningly illustrated by Ella Okstad.
Pip was born in Cheltenham, UK, where she spent her childhood gobbling up books and dreaming about being an author herself. At the age of 19, she began a career in journalism, writing and editing for local and national newspapers and magazines. After the births of her daughters, Pip began writing for parenting magazines and websites. In 2012, she won the inaugural Greenhouse Funny Prize, with a series of stories about Squishy McFluff: The Invisible Cat, who Pip had based on her elder daughter's 'real' imaginary kitten. The first book in the series was published by Faber Children's in 2014. Pip's first picture book, Daddy's Sandwich, was published by Faber Children's in May 2015 and was shortlisted in the Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards Picture Book category in the same year. Pip continues to write the Squishy McFluff series, and a raft of new titles are planned in the coming three years, including three further picture books, and a new young reader series. We have all the books in the Squishy Mcfluff series and this one did not disappoint. Ava and her invisible cat are off to the circus and rather than causing too much mischief (as they do in other stories), they accidentally become the stars of the show. Fun rhyming text and lovely illustrations in reds, oranges and yellows. Highly recommend.
This is my first Squishy McFluff book and it was pretty darn cute! A trip to the circus and a missing performer! Of course we know who will stand in. A brilliant rhyming structure and gorgeous illustrations! This will be great in KS1!
