Aubrey Cumming and her Mackintosh are planning their wedding in Scotland. Into the mix comes a new ghost story, an international conspiracy, and the personal tragedy of bridesmaid Kate Bianchi. When the groom disappears without a trace, Kate must rise above her own heartache to solve the mystery and amend a centuries old injustice.
This, the 2nd book in the Highland Spirits series, is about Kate. As a cop, her career is on the rise until her husband died in an accident sending her into a tailspin. Encouraged to take a break from her work, she travels to Scotland to spend time with her friend Aubrey and to mourn. Soon she is pulled into a police investigation that is linked to the one she was pursuing at home. However, this time the investigation includes ghostly encounters and a 2nd chance at love . This is a delightful series and one that you want to read in order. Although the author does a good job of bringing elements from the first book into the second to help it stand alone, I think you'll find the series more enjoyable by stating at the beginning.
I love a good romance and this one did not disappoint!
Faced with a mysterious new drug that is taking over the world, Kate visits her friend in Scotland and finds herself face to face with a bagpipe playing ghost, a group of gossipy Owls and a hot young detective who hates her. This book includes enough snarky humor to keep you smiling and mysterious twists and turns to keep you wondering!
The second book in M MacKinnon’s Highland Spirits series is a must read. Can’t wait for book three to come out next year!
A thoroughly delightful read full of mystery, suspense, romance, comic relief, and heartwarming friendship, and set in the mystic beauty of the Scottish highlands. I had a marvelous time reading this, and can't wait for the next book.
Another enjoyable entry in the Highland Spirits series. Well-written with charming characterizations and a thrilling mystery, I thoroughly enjoyed this entry in the series.
