Lady Griffith's Second Chance

Rate this book
Regan isn’t looking for a husband. She has her children to raise, an estate to manage, and the role of perpetually grieving widow to uphold. So when she stumbles into Thomas Cranmer, a man so young he is better suited for her own daughter than herself, she is shocked by the immediate spark of desire that ignites between them.

Thomas is indeed young, handsome, and not at all the sort of gentleman who should be catching her attention. But the lure of an affair with him is too tempting to ignore, even as rumors swirl about what sort of man he really is.

It’s not until Regan finds her heart is in danger that she wonders if there can be life beyond grief, and if someone can have a second chance at love…

This was absolutely everything I've been wanting in a romance. Thanks for a story with a main character over 40! I feel as if that's rare, especially in romance. As always, eager to read more.

Reading Lady Griffith‘s Second Chance is like reading a steamy Austen novel with an older lady protagonist who is not only a mother, but also a very capable woman.

The prose is gorgeous; the characters rich and interesting; the sexy times are indeed sexy.

In short, this book is a delight.

If you enjoy reading well written and seductive romance set in the Regency era, I strongly recommend you pick this one up

This book was a nice surprise! The characters were described magnificently and a reader could induce why they were acting the ways they did. Very intriguing and fresh story line that made me believe that the age difference is not an issue. I am so happy to find a new author who has written many books worth to read.

So that was lovely and I accidentally in one sitting. Great seeing a middle-aged woman, pardon my language, but being so thirsty. It was all lovely, sweet, and quite steamy.

Widowed with three children, not much of a preface for a romance. Especially when the oldest girl is in the marriage market. That makes you practically a antique! So when a dashing young gentleman suddenly shows interest in you, you become to say the least confused.
Rebuffing his attentions, she is convinced it’s all her imagination. She takes her daughter to a house party for a month and lo and behold, the gentleman is there.
Let the games begin as not just one but three gentleman being to show interest in her or her husband’s wealth? Dangerous waters for someone who married young and never played the games of the ton.

Emotional ride

With Lady Griffith’s Second Chance, Quenby pulls at the heartstrings. A young widow with children, a younger man with secrets, and an older man with secrets of his own provide a touch of suspense mixed with romance. Will Regan cling to her memories of a dead man and hide behind her children? Will she follow her heart or her head and what adventures will she experience along the way? I strongly recommend you read this book to find out. I hope there is another one in this series on its way.

This was enjoyable. I didn't love how much of the action in the middle of the book was largely in Regan's thoughts without any access to Thomas's thoughts except what he told her. I prefer romances where you get inside both character's heads so you get the mutual pining. I also found the sex scenes rather lacking in foreplay lol.

But it was an enjoyable read, and I liked both Regan and Thomas. I loved having an older heroine, I always love younger man tropes, and I liked the bits of the relationship between Regan and her grown daughter. Not something you see in many romances.

A lovely romantic story

Great characters and storyline. If only the author had not made one small mistake, it would have been perfect. The heroine's late husband, Sir Edward Griffith, was referred to by other characters several times as Sir Griffith, which is incorrect - he would have been spoken about as Sir Edward. I'm also not sure that turtles lived in the wild in Regency England, but I could be wrong...

An interesting read. The heroine is older and settled in her widowhood. The hero some 14 years her junior and a second son, so not very wealthy.

The passionate scenes were well written and we follow Regan's thoughts. (I'm not that keen on Regan as a name but I suppose if shakespeare liked it I could live with it.)

Lady Griffith's is a delightful romance. The chemistry on these pages is delicious, the writing is beautiful, the characters are fun. I love the flipped dynamic of a widowed woman and a younger man, it plays so beautifully in this book! Definitely worth a read.

It is hard to believe that the same person wrote Miss Percy’s Pocket Guide and this book. I keep reading hoping that the charm of the other book would show up, but it didn’t. The characters and the book are devoid of humor. Such a disappointing and boring book. I can’t understand all the glowing reviews.
