Rixon Raiders #3

The Harder You Fall

Rate this book
Cocky football players, school rivalry, and the girls who get in their way... the Raiders are back for one final play!

Mya Hernandez has scars.

The kind that run deep and leave marks.
Rixon is only supposed to be a temporary place to hide, but it's quickly becoming something more.
She's almost certain it has nothing to do with the blond-haired, blue-eyed football player who makes her laugh. Who makes her believe in fairy tales again.
Even if she knows her life is destined to be nothing more than a tragedy.

Asher Bennet has secrets.

Not the scandalous kind, but the ones that fester, slowly eating away at your soul.
On the face of it, he's Mr Popular, always down for a party and causing a little mayhem.
But on the inside, he just wants someone to see him. Really see him. Too bad the one girl who sees past his facade has already friend-zoned him.
It's probably for the best though.

She's different.
A fighter.
She's everything he wants but can never have.

Until Mya's past and Asher's present collide in ways neither of them saw coming.

And suddenly the thing you need most is the very thing you’re supposed to hate.

guys... no joke, but this was cute as hell and Asher can, like, get it??

i KNEW from book 1 that Asher Bennet (H) will be my favorite hero in this series and this book did not disappoint because it made me love Asher 1000 x ∞ more than ever.

i wasn't sure if i was gonna like Mya (h) for Asher because i barely knew her from book 2 and i was lowkey still shipping Fee and Asher because Asher treated her way better than Jase ever did but they're my ultimate otp here.

the first 2 books are good but it was your typical new adult high school book with likeable characters, but this was next level. even the writing was next level!

what i liked:
Jase & Felicity.
i don't know why, but i love them here more than in their own book. they were just so supportive and loyal as friends and they were so mature and the guardian angels (or devils let's be real) to Asher and Mya. Jase was so protective to Mya and ughhh my heart !!! and not gonna lie, Fee was a better friend to Mya than to Hailee.
friendship group.
i love any book/series with great group of friends because that dynamic is just *chef's kiss*. they were all supportive and protective and there some funny moments especially that TRUTH OR DARE scene where Jase was drunk and kissed Asher.
*drumroll*... ASHER MOTHER-EFFING BENNET.
this dude is THE boyfriend material ladies and gentlemen! he is the main reason for my rating because he basically stole my heart with every swoony shit he said. i just wish a non-fictional man would say the things he said but nahhh. everytime i read his chapters and inner monologue i just

he was also so in love with Mya from the beginning that he was the one doing all the chasing, pulling, and convincing. like can we just appreciate this pls? i love a good chase from the H.

my girl Mya.
first of all, i will appreciate every heroine who are a women of color because that's kinda rare in my opinion. and second, i just really love her. she was so mature and i love how she didn't forgive and give in so easily because she has self-respect and she knows her worth. ugh. gotta love heroines like her.
GROVELLING.
guys !!! i was so satisfied with the grovelling here because, again, Mya didn't forgive right away and the way Asher fought for her made my entire year.

what i disliked:
Asher's dad.
i really don't like how his arc ended. i'm glad he changed but he was cold and apparently abusive to his wife and yeah... i just wanted to see a bad ending for this asshole but that happened so i kinda understand.
Kelly Ginley and the small town Rixon.
most of them are racist. enough said.
Hailee.
who is this girl again? ok, im kidding, but honestly, she was barely in this. and when i say barely, i mean almost non-existent.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

i really am gonna miss all the characters (especially my bb Asher) because i grew to love them even tho i was frustrated with most of them in the first 2 books *cough* Jason *cough* .

anyways, i hope there's more books about these dorks !!

Ever since I first discovered L.A. Cotton and her awesome work, I have been a huge fan. I am still trying to catch up with all the books she has written and I am not quite there yet. I have already finished the "Wicked Bay" series though, which has become a favorite of mine, same as this great series "Rixon Raiders"... I mean YA/NA with cocky football players count me in!

This is the third book in the series and I don't advise reading it as a stand-alone. These books are about three best friends and they play a huge part in each other's lives and each other's books. The storyline continues and so it is best to start with book 1, The Trouble With You, Cam and Hailee's story.

Those of you who have already read the previous book, need no introduction when it comes to Mya and Asher. The two out of their group of friends who are still single... We all knew they wouldn't stay that way long, the sexual tension between them was pretty palpable. We also know that they are dealing with some inner demons and in this book we find out exactly what those demons are.

secrets gif - Google Zoeken

Mya is kind of the odd fish out at Rixon High, being pretty much the only colored girl there. People are so narrow-minded and High School kids can be the worst!! Mya has never had it easy, which is how she developed her tough skin and snarky attitude. Sticks and stones and all that shit. Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. Especially when people start questioning her relationship with Asher... the king of the school, deeming her not worthy.

Asher has his own demons to struggle with and he doesn't intend on sharing them with anyone...well anyone but Mya that is. He feels he can tell her everything. But how will they be able to be together, when almost everyone wants to see them apart... Especially Mya's past and Asher's future...

tear us apart gif - Google Zoeken

I was really enjoying this one, and even though parts did piss me off a bit, I was still pretty relaxed and mellow... Until this book changed its tune that is and I was on the edge of my seat...chewing my nails of. I did not see any of it coming.

Now I am gonna be honest and say there were some parts that were resolved a bit too easily, which is why I am not going for the full 5 stars. I am not gonna go into it though, because that would be a major spoiler. That said, I did really enjoy reading this one and even though Mya did annoy me at times, Asher really blew me away!! So 4,5 stars it is.

I highly recommend this series!!

***4 "Fight for me!!!" stars***

"One day, Mya Hernandez would be mine.
She just didn’t know it yet."

To be totally honest with you, i was expecting more of Asher!!!
I was waiting his turn like a hawk, cause i loved his carefree character so much!!!
But of course, he had his own issues to face and Mya was a lovely addition to the mix...
I just didn't like how needy Asher was through out the half part of the book, but then... Bang!!! I loved how the things end up, even though it wasn't a good turn of events!!! But the anticipation exited me very much!!!

"I promise I won't fall in love with you, if that's what you're worried about... I know we're heading in different directions. I know this is only temporary, but you make all the shit fade to the background."

Well, Asher Bennet was more than you could see... He wasn't just the peacemaker, the funny guy, the hot guy...
Unfortunately, behind closed door, Asher was baring his own cross... A burden that he was sharing with noone...
He just have to make the best of this last year... The last year that he could control his own life... The last year with his best friends... Those friends that now, they were having both girlfriends!!!
And Asher wanted a girl for himself too!!!

"Mya Hernandez was a fighter... But it wasn't her strength that intrigued me. It was her scars. The ones she thought she kept hidden."

Mya Hernandez was a new addition on school and this group of friends...
Felicity had taken her under her wings and she was close to the girls....
Mya was carrying her own burden... She had escaped her previous life and she was trying to make a new life away from her home and friends... She was heartbroken and she belong to 4% of Rixon...
She was a Latina girl from the wrong side of tracks and that was bothering her in a way...
And then, Asher Bennett came like a breath of life in her life... A blond, white, all-American boy and everything turned upside down...

"My heart had been shattered once.
I wasn't sure it would survive another heartbreak."

Well, even their differences, i loved Mya and Asher together very much...
Yep, both of them, had their plates full of shitty things, but they were balm for each other's soul...
And let the people judge!!!
Unfortunately, they had many obstacles to overcome, but their love was the most powerful weapon. Or not???

"Love wasn’t always enough to save somebody. Two people could love one another with everything that they were and it might still not be enough to make their relationship work."

"There were obstacles but nothing worth having came easy.
I was prepared to fight for her.
But I couldn't be the only one willing to go all in."

Well, i loved Asher from the first moment, but it was bothering me the fact that he seemed to me a little desperate to find a girl... It was like he was pressuring himself to do so and i didn't like it! And then, he set his eyes upon Mya and he seemedd and sounded soooo needy... I wanted him not so soft in a way...
But literally, i loved his grand gesture in the end... *Sigh*
Mya from the other hand it was a tough girl, but she had so many hang-ups!!!
She was letting people treat her badly, cause she was prejudiced of herself...
And i think that she wasn't fighting for Asher, as much as Asher was fighting for her...

"The way I feel about you scare me."
"How do you feel about me?"
"Like I could lose myself."

"Meet me at the place where young men who think they have it all figured out become Gods and Kings.
Because this King is ready to claim his Queen."

I highly recommend the whole series...
I enjoyed every single one of them very much and in a way, i will miss these guys... and their girls!!!!

Once a Rixon Raider always a Rixon Raider.
I can’t believe this is the final book in this amazing series.
LA cotton gave us a thoughtful and emotional story with Mya and Ashers story.

Mya is a transfer to Rixon from a rough city and school. She is one of the few minorities at school and doesn’t feel like she belongs. She is hiding secrets and hurt however she is strong minded and becomes friends with Flick, and Hailee.
“Mya Hernandez was a fighter. Not scared to wade into a fight to protect those she cared about. But it wasn’t her strength that intrigued me. It was her scars. The ones she thought she kept hidden.”

Because of those girlfriends she catches the eye of their boyfriends teammate and best friend Asher. Asher is the friendly joker, life of the party with the perfect family. Or so he wants everyone to think.
“I grinned because making light of things was my default setting.”

Asher and Myas slow burn is perfect. Starting as friends and building into much more. They share their secrets, fears, hopes and dreams.
Mya is trying to escape her past while Asher needs to escape his family secrets.

A heartbreaking event occurs that truly tests their relationship
Do they fight for each other or give up?
“I’m tired of fighting. For once I want someone to fight for me. To choose me. But until then, I’m okay with fighting for myself, for going after what I want.”

I loved everything about this story.
The angst, sadness, struggles, first love, finding oneself, friendships.
Cameron, Hailee, Flick and Jason were true to their characters throughout this and I loved their friendship and banter with Mya and Asher.
And wow- those last chapters!! I was an emotional mess.

Amazing series, fantastic writing, and another reason why LA Cotton will always be one click author for me.

I am sad it is the final book but I am so thankful for LA cotton giving me the opportunity to Beta read this series.
My heart is property of the Rixon Raiders.

I am floored with The Harder You Fall. Ash and Mya are the best couple in this series. Their story is starting with Mya pushing Asher away. Asher is a very determine hero.
Their story is not easy one. There are a lot of up and down. Miss Cotton again nailed it.

The drama with Asher's family is well written. It is not too dramatic nor under dramatic. Again Miss Colton nailed it.
What an enjoyable read.

I beyond words loved The Harder You Fall! Asher is my favorite, and I just knew his story would put my heart through the ringer. I loved the whole Rixon Raiders series, but this one is by far the best. L.A. Cotton delivered a perfectly amazing, heartachingly, beautiful story that had me captivated from beginning to end.

Asher Bennett is a Rixon Raider and son of one of the wealthiest families in town. He is a jokester and always the life of the party. On the outside looking in, it seems as if he has the picture perfect life, but that couldn't be further from the truth. He is very good at keeping his secrets hidden behind a façade. And Maya Hernandez? She is a strong and brave heroine with quite the troubled past. In order to escape her ex and the gang life, she heads to Rixon for a fresh new start. There she moves in with her aunt and quickly makes a group of new friends.

Asher doesn't exactly hide his feelings for Maya, but she is insistent that they can only be friends. She wants to trust him with her heart, but her last relationship hurt her, and she doesn't want to go there again. But over time, Asher is able to wear her down and the friendship turns into so much more. But their relationship isn't without its bumps and bruises. Being a Latina in a town lacking diversity and plenty of racism, doesn't make it easy for them. There is always a watchful eye quick to judge their relationship. And when her past comes knocking, then the chaos quickly ensues.

The conflict, drama and angst kept me furiously flipping the pages. I devoured each and every word as quickly but as slowly as I could, never wanting it to end. The Harder You Fall was an epic conclusion to this phenomenal series. I'm sad to see these characters go, but I'm happy to have met them and lived in their world for a while. If you do nothing else, please give this series a go. Read it and witness the magic that L.A. Cotton never fails to deliver. Five stars and more for Asher, Maya and the Rixon Raiders!

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description
Nessuno riesce a vedere davvero chi è Asher.

„If you were mine, I’d chase you to the ends of the Earth before I ever gave you up.”

Can the heart be empty and full at the same time? Because that's how I feel right now... I feel completely empty because I can't believe that this is the last book in the series. But on the other hand I’m full of emotions, because LA Cotton finished it with a bang! The Harder You Fall gave me all the feels. Asher and Mya's story is extremely touching, angsty and poignant. And while I loved every single book in the Rixon Raiders series, this one is my favorite. I feel the connection with both Asher and Mya on the deeper level. I could feel their struggles, their fears and hopes. They stole my heart from the very first page and I was deeply immersed in their story.

I was in love with Asher right from the first book in the series. He was always a people person, a fun, laid-back guy and a great friend. But his own story has shown that it all is just an armor he put on so as not to burden others with his problems. Learning about his struggles cut me deep and his vulnerable side made me love him even more. However, despite the lack of influence on some aspects of his own life, Asher knows what he wants. And if he can, he'll do anything to get it.

Mya is my favorite type of heroine. Strong, brave, feisty and confident. Even though she often has doubts, this girl knows her value and doesn't let anybody to push her around. She knew when to leave the toxic and dangerous environment before it destroyed her.

Their history is a fight with the past and the present, an attempt to find a happy ending against all odds. They share an indesribable chemistry that doesn't let them stay away from each other even though the whole world is against them. Watching it all played out was an amazing experience and Mya and Asher deserve a standing ovation for being so real.

Lianne Cotton has an amazing gift when it comes to creating stories about young people. Her stories are authentic and in its own way charming in its rawness. This author is also able to perfectly convey emotions, because you can feel every described situation on your own skin. I really hope that she’ll write something more in the Rixon Raiders series, maybe a novella or spin-off, because I can’t say goodbye to this world yet. I’m addicted to these football players and their other halves. And The Harder You Fall got me hooked even more. Must read!

Siete ancora i miei migliori amici. I miei fratelli.

“Asher had taught me that what people saw didn’t define us. It was what was on the inside that counted. And our souls were the same.”

I knew Asher was going to blow my mind. I waited for this moment since the first book.

He is the joker , the easy going guy, always with a smile on his face .

But like everyone, he’s also wearing a mask, hiding his real feelings.

On the outside he seems to have the perfect life but on the inside secrets are slowly eating him alive.

Then something changed, Mya happened . She was different than any girl he had ever seen.

She also was a broken soul on the inside, and broken souls recognize each other .

The bond between Asher and Mya was something else. They just made sense together.

“If you were mine, I’d chase you to the ends of the Earth before I ever gave you up”

I loved how Mya stood up against immature people who looked her different only because her skin was of a different color. She was a force of nature, strong , impenetrable .

But there’s always an exception , and Asher with is cuteness and just his way of being himself got to her heart.

Their journey wasn’t easy , it was filled with obstacles , but once they realized they were end game nothing could stop them.

“Our past and present had collided in a way neither of us saw coming, but the future? The future was ours.”

The chemistry and the passion between them was off the charts , I was on a constant rollercoaster of emotions and I loved every second of it.

I gave it 5 stars

I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!

FIVE ASH STARS for Mya and Ash 💖💖💖!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I can't believe that this was the last book from this series 😭😭😭!!!

It's always hard to say goodbye to series when you become so close with characters and they became part of you 💔.

I was waiting so long for Ash's story and now when I've read it I can only say it was worth waiting.

"The Harder You Fall" is a sports romance book with friends to lovers trope which will melt your heart and make you laugh a lot.

If you're looking for a sports romance book with friends to lovers trope, you should read this book next!!!

Highly recommended!!!

I’ve loved this series so hard.

Asher is the fun loving party guy who seems to have it all, but looks can be deceiving. His dad controls their family. His word is final.

When Asher falls for Mya he doesn’t know what the consequences will be. For better or worse, the hard you fall is a rocky ride. It tackles some deep issues and the party boy act is about to blow up.

This was really good. I liked both the romance and the supporting story. Asher is an easy guy to love.

Mya is from a poor background and to escape her troubles she moves in with her auntie. She’s done with boys but Asher isn’t just any boy.

Can love conquer all?

Just as good as the other 2 books. 5 out of 5. Audiobook win.

5/5 Rixen Raider Stars 🌟

b17aece1

If you've read the Rixon Riaders series you already know that Asher holds a special place in Raider fans hearts and to say I was anticipating his story is an understatement. I already knew he was going to be my favourite and you guys Lianne did not disappoint.

I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND of Mya and Ashers story. This book brought all the angst, feels and raw emotions we are used to in this series and it was perfect. Mya was such a beautiful, strong, independent and fierce character who did not allow the way people treated her or viewed her to to dull her shine, and boy did she shine. I loved her so much and there were times my heart truly broke for her. Asher was struggling with inner demons of wanting to be his own person, enjoy his last year of high school and be free before being pushed into life path he didn't necessary want

This story made me laugh, cry, smile, cry some more but ultimately left my heart feeling so warm and full. Im going to miss the raiders so much and I already know ill be rereading this series for the rest of my life

… her touch was like kryptonite. Hitting me right where it hurts most – my heart.

I really don’t know what happened here. I was so excited for this book, because I love each of those Rixon Raiders. But somehow this book left me with mixed emotions. It was like a hot and cold shower.
One time I had hearts in my eyes and only some time later I felt nothing at all. I have no idea how to makes sense of it.

No matter what, with her writing skills and her talent to breath life into her characters, Lianne Cotton managed to draw me into the world of the Raiders so easily.

This didn’t feel like going slow. It felt like falling recklessly and hopelessly into each other, giving no thought to how hard we might crash.

The thing with Mya and Asher is, I expected more. I expected to see more of Asher.
Sometimes I felt him, but didn’t really see him. And Sometimes I really saw him (but that were only quick glimpse of the top of the iceberg) but I didn’t feel him.
Maybe it was because through the whole book I felt something was missing. Some backstory I couldn’t quite grab.

IMO it didn’t quite help that we were thrown right into the story from the beginning. There was no easing in or some background story (some sort of prologue). Seeing that this book can be read as a standalone in a series, and expecting that readers might pick this one before the others, I would have been confused lots of times if I haven’t had read the two books before.

And I had similar problems with Mya. I would have loved to get a deeper insight of her life before Rixon. What really did happen to her and how did it change her? How did she slowly open up to the girls and finding her way into this tight knitted group?
Where was all the fun banter, the flirting, the getting to know each other before Mya and Asher decided to go for it?

Our past and present had collided in a way neither of us saw coming, but the future? The future was ours.

I know it’s hard to read (and believe me, it’s also hard to write) but The Harder You Fall is for me the weakest book in this series. I’m brutally honest here.
I had a great time reading it, no matter what because I love Rixon and their Raiders. And I love the girls with all my heart.
But this book, the story of Asher and Mya held so much potential, which in my eyes, only reached half of it.

Asher had taught me that what people saw didn’t define us. It was what was on the inside that counted. And our souls were the same.

The Harder You Fall is a lovely conclusion to the Rixon Raider series, that closes it with a big bang.

One day, Mya Hernandez would be mine. She just didn’t know it yet.

The Rixon Raiders series has been one of my all time favourites by LA Cotton and I’m so sad that it’s over.

”You are so fucking beautiful it hurts.”

Harder you Fall is Asher and Mya’s story. From the very first book in this series I knew that Asher would be my favourite. I love the cocky playboys that use humour to hide their insecurities and that was Ash all over. He stole my heart!

Mya Hernandez was a fighter.

Mya was complicated. She has a bad past, and she had moved to Rixon for a better life. But what happens when your past and present collide and you have Rixon Raiders in the middle? You have a shit show my friends. An epic one at that! The conflict, the drama and the angst in this book kept me flipping pages and reading every single word LA Cotton would give me until the very end. I want to live in this world, I want a Raider of my own and I want to be friends with the heroines.

Love wasn’t always enough to save somebody. Two people could love one another with everything that they were and it might still not be enough to make their relationship work.

The Rixon Raiders stole my heart, I want the ability to read them again for the first time and witness the magic that LA Cotton makes us experience.

If you haven’t picked up this series, then do it. Let it consume you, steal your heart and heal your soul.

I wouldn't call this a friends-to-lovers romance, but damn, it was good!
the friendship between Felicity and Mya was so cute!
i know this book isn't about Felicity and Jason, but they were so cute in this book.

OMG these kids totally deliver, well Ms. Cotton does but you know what I mean. These high school, football fanatics and the girls they set their sights on...so addicting. I may or may not have messaged the author to please please let me in on the release blitz, tour and review of this one, because I am an inpatient girl like that. I am SO glad I did. Asher and Mya were incredible. The real-ness that Mya brings to the white town of Rixon and the heart that Asher tries to hide with jokes and wit sucked me in and held me tight. Cam, Jase, Ash and the crew made me fall head over heels with all of them. Angst, feels, heart and smiles for miles. I really enjoyed watching Mya and Asher figure it all out and see what it could all mean for them. Is this really it? I think we need more...start the chant and wave with me now...okay GO!

The final book of The Rixon Raiders series was great and the perfect ending for fan favorite Asher and the whole crew.

I enjoyed this book very much even though I didn‘t like the female main character as much as the other two.

The story between those characters was really good and I loved how it portrayed so many current events. Mya had a good backstory but I sometimes found her a little annoying but it didn‘t hurt the reading enjoyment that much.

I also really loved how we got to see alot from the other characters again and how the dynamics between all the characters where and how close each and everyone is. The three guys are more brothers than friends in my opinion and even with their differences they all are there for eachother nonetheless.

I really would‘ve liked to know more that happened after the twist with some of the characters involved but I guess it wouldn‘t have mattered much.

A great ending for our Rixon Raiders.

Now as this the last book to this amazing series doll it was the perfect send off. I absolutely love these boys asher is so sweet and caring. Complet opposite to his best friend Jase. I also loved Mya she's what I expected for sure. My sad to this awesome series come to an end. But absolutely loved it.

Having fallen in love with Asher over the course of the previous two books, I knew that his story would have the power to absolutely wreck me, but I just wasn’t prepared for how heartbroken I would feel. Maya and Asher were so perfect for each other and I loved the evolution of their relationship, from friends to becoming each other’s everything. I am so sad that this was the last book in the series but I can’t wait to see what’s to come next from LA Cotton
