But when my heat hits out of the blue, I ask him to help me through it.
One night. No strings attached.
It’s not supposed to result in a positive pregnancy test…
When he finds out, will he want me after all?
Barrett
When I met him, he was just a kid.
Lost and abandoned, mad at the world.
Over the years, he’s gotten stronger.
Just like my feelings for him.
I’d never stand in the way of his dreams.
I’m ready for a family. His career is just taking off.
He’s the only omega I want.
Resisting him once was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
Doing it again is out of the question.
When he goes into heat, I’m there.
The casual FWB situation we drift into after is dangerous.
I want more.
I want him to be mine.
Fighting Chance is book 2 set in the Misty City omegaverse, where gruff alphas meet feisty omegas, and mend their broken hearts. Sweet, super-steamy, with no cliffhanger endings. Each book can be read as a standalone. 47k words.
This story follows Barrett, Nathan's twin brother and Xander, an Omega, who was kicked out of his family and onto the streets. It was a cute read as they realized they loved one another. There was a bit of miscommunication - or rather things unsaid that led to misunderstandings. However, it ended with a lovely HEA. Now onto Jason and Milo's story.
This is the second book in this series, and we get to see Barrett and Xander figure out their complicated relationship. They have been friends for years but both have hide love for each other. And finally after Barrett’s absence for a few months things go from complicated to so much more. Both men have excuses in their heads that they shouldn’t be together but once those don’t seem so relevant their friendship turns into so much more. But the past never stays in the past and it comes back to ruin everything. I fell in love with these two men and their happily ever after.

If possible, I enjoyed this book even more than the first in the series.Barrett and Xander are friends that have been dancing around their attraction for years. Xander’s resisted his attraction because he is determined to be as great a fighter as his older brother despite being Omega and Barrett has held back because Xander was so young when they met and he didn’t want to take advantage of the Omega or keep him from his dream. Great plot pacing with just the right amount of angst that leads to a very satisfying ending. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Family isn't only the people with whom you share blood! You live your life trying to prove you are good enough. Who you trying to convince? Xander, at 17 was dealt the most crushing blow ever dealt by his dad and his brothers. He managed to survive. His experience made him strong and independent in character. He met Barrett at the gym and was impressed by courtesy and respect shown. They unknowingly went through a courtship dance while getting to know each other. They developed a mutual respect and a close friendship. Xander gets his shot a headlining a fight! Can he win? What does his family think? What happens when Barrett and Xander cross that line? Do they talk? We hear from Nathan and Elias and Milo. The stories are standalones, but you get more delight reading them in order. Great series follow-on. Excellent characters. The family is supportive and loving. A delight to read. What happens when Xander's family show up? I received and ARC from Booksprout for a review
Xander meets Barrett at the Omega shelter he goes to after being thrown out of home. At seventeen Xander presents as an omega and is thrown out of his home. After time on the streets he finds himself at an Omega shelter where he meets Alpha gym owner Barrett who is giving self defense lessons to the Omegas in residence. Xander gets him to train him at the gym and years later he is making his mark as a fighter. Then after his most recent fight he goes into heat but unlike his first heat shortly after meeting Barrett this time neither Barrett or Xander can keep their hands off one another.

This is dramatic, entertaining and romantic. After been betrayed by his family, Xander doesn't trust alpha's at all, so when he ask Barrett to train him as a boxer, he makes sure that Barrett stays in the friend zone. Then Barrett takes off for two months, trying to get over his feelings for Xander and move on. But that doesn't happen, instead they get closer. Until Xander's past comes back to make trouble. Secrets are revealed, deals are made and and family bonds. It's a great story. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

I didn't like this one as much as I did the first one. I felt like too much of the tension between Xander and Barrett was a lack of communication. I could understand why they had avoided getting together sooner, but then once they did get together they avoided talking about it so much that it just caused one misunderstanding after another. There were definitely some good moments between them, but I think those moments got overshadowed by the drama.
This new author certainly has a way of creating interesting and dynamic characters!! I adore every MC character in this world. My issue is that think the plot and development could use a good bit of work. Friends to lovers is one of my absolute favorite tropes but I didn’t get that big pay off I wanted with this one. The steam ranged from super hot to just kind of meh but I’ll definitely continue on reading because I need milo to get his HEA!
This was an amazing read. I loved the storyline; it was so interesting and well written. The characters were well developed with intriguing personalities and interactions that kept me engrossed in the book. I loved Xander; he went through alot and survived. Barrett was just wonderful. I loved the chemistry between them. This was a great read for me.

Xander is an omega who crawled up from the gutter where he had been kicked. He trains under Barrett to fight in order to prove that he is worthy. He wins his first major fight, then goes into heat. Then the story takes off. The story was sweet but it relies too much on the trope of truths that need to be spoken, but are not, and misunderstandings.

Xander's father kick him out when he was fifteen. He ended up in a homeless shelter where he met Barrett. Barrett trains Xander in boxing. They both end up caring for each other but afraid to show it. They're both afraid they'll be rejected by the other. I really enjoyed this book.
I really like the characters in this book and I enjoy the authors writing style quite a bit. The plot was kind of all over the place in this one, but the romance pulled you into the story. Great to see that Milo and a Jason are next.
I’ve already read books one and three and loved them but this is my favorite! I loved that Zander and Barrett were best friends first. They have such good back and forth. Can’t wait to read more River Ryan!
The twists in this story just adds spice and frustration to the story. I just wish that they learned to communicate. I highly recommend this tale and eagerly await the next book in this series.
