A thoughtfully written and thought-provoking book. Karen Casey offers lots of good suggestions on how to add peace and purpose to life after retirement. I know I’ll be going back to the book to reread some of the essays whenever I need a little guidance and direction. Highly recommended!
For those facing aging and the prospect of a constricted life, this book turns that prospect around completely. These honest, inspiring, and engaging essays explore: · the importance of contribution, kindness, and connection with loving detachment; · how the challenges of our own pasts and futures have been perfectly ordered to teach us to express only love; · that the changes we make in our lives affect a huge number of our fellows on earth; and · that the rest of one’s life is an opportunity to achieve dreams and live from one’s most sacred truths. · How consciously striving to connect with others through kind thoughts, words, and actions keeps our hearts open to God’s love and guidance. Most of all, it’s a song of courage and grit and love. Life’s not over, so don’t wuss out now!

I'm not nearing retirement. I mean, I'm 22. I just started working. I move way too quickly for retirement, even way too quickly for some of my coworkers, who have slowed down after 4 or more years with the company. I felt like this book went too slowly for my world.
But I liked the inspirations for journaling. And I think this is going to be a good book to return to when I am ready to slow down and enjoy life more than I enjoy work.
This book definitely strikes me as a great gift. And while it's not a book for me right now, it promises to be useful to me in the future.
While reading this book, I thought about journaling to really think through these concepts. This would be a wonderful group study as you could share your thoughts with friends. Absolutely recommending to all of my college students...it's something about knowing where you stand that will move you where you want to go.
