Thomas Moore is a small boy, a werewolf, and the sole survivor of his murdered family. He’s alone. Alone, learning how to be both human and beast. Alone, dealing with his guilt, remorse, and fear. Alone, with Him as his only and constant companion.
Great writer, but I’m afraid the story wasn’t for me.
I would like to start with the positives. Sean Mooney is a great writer, both technically and imaginatively. At no point did I feel like I was reading an indie author’s book. It was wonderfully edited, and to be honest, when I read books like this, I wonder why on earth authors like this can’t find a publisher because the quality is definitely there!!
However, story-wise. It just wasn’t there for me. Don’t get me wrong, it was imaginative and intriguing, but personally, I struggled with the book. I really did not like the main character, Thomas. I felt like I was Lestat in Interview with the Vampire ‘Whine, whine, whine! Always whining, Louis!’ I understand what the author was doing, but because of the book’s slow pace and constant complaining and self-pity, I just found myself losing interest.
I would say, if you like slow-paced thrillers with a supernatural spin, then definitely give this a go.
