Christine Carter may run on caffeine, chaos, and cuss words, but she wants nothing more than to become a well-rounded parent, wife, and professional. Like most young moms, she aspires to live a stress-free life. But when her world becomes unbalanced, and a separation thwarts her, Carter must look inside herself, realize shawty, you AIN’T the sh*t, and address several issues- from the idea of traditional marriage to perfectionism to self-doubt. MOM AF follows Carter’s journey to owning her sh*t (the good and the bad) and redefining what truly makes her one sane, strong, and sexy mother.
This novel is essential because in each chapter the reader will see their lives and nod in agreement, curse in anger, or even chuckle out loud, thinking “I get you and you get me.” It offers a literary kinship between Carter and the reader; this book will provide many young women comfort, empathy, and hope.

I haven’t hollered aloud while laughing at an author in a LONG time. This book is honest, hilarious and makes life plain. I deeply related to Christine as a mother, professional and partner. Most of all, I related to her relationship with other women in her life and the role they played in her constructing her self(s). What a journey to be on with this woman. Thank you for sharing in candor your trials and celebrations.
I should admit up front that I am not a mother by choice, but in this book I recognized the struggles of too many friends and family. Women who are trying to nurture their children, grow their careers or SAH, sustain marriages built on (or lacking in) partnership, handle all of the appointments, meetings, and social commitments, and get or stay fit and healthy. The mother load is REAL, and while Carter approaches it with humor and candor, I don't know how y'all moms do it. You should read this - I know, you barely have time to read this review - but thanks to the engaging writing style, the book is a quick read.

Technically, I finished this book in a day and broke it up in a few days during Christmas. This book had me laughing out loud but has me ponder a lot about relationships and self awareness. I love the transparency. It was also really delightful to see how things can peacefully resolve ourself whether the outcome is good or not. There were some really good quotes in the book about the ins and outs marriage and comparing your life to others only to find it’s not necessary. Thank you for sharing your story Christine. I got more friends to tell about this book. Your narration style is fucking hilarious too! No filter at all and I love it!
I needed this book right now, I connected with this on so many levels. Alright so I'm like polar opposite of this author, but there was so many common threads, I just feel this. It is like a sneaky self help book tossing out morsels along the way and by the end of the reader is like dang I got this handful of life and I'm ready. It was a good read, fast moving and real. I one hundred percent am going to recommend this to moms out there. Thank you.
I really enjoyed Mom AF, especially as a fellow working millennial mom. The pressure we face as career women, mothers and wives (let alone individuals) is so often overwhelming and simply to hear the story of someone else going through the same things gives peace of mind that we can do this! Also the reminder we can’t be 100% of everything to everyone all of the time is so needed. Sometimes, most of the time, something’s got to give.
This book was so amazing I read it all in one night. Even though I've been a single divorced mom for several years, Christine's writing took me back. I remembered the emotions and internal conflict I dealt with through my early marriage. She is honest and speaks from the experiences that many Black and Brown women face. Amazing read!
Such a refreshing spin on the impossible work life balance. I laughed many times at the real life situations and words written on the pages. Very relatable.
This book was captivating from start to finish. I laughed, cried and empathized with her experiences. Sometimes felt like my story was being told. So very relatable, from the story line to the laid back, unapologetically real writing style. Christine, you have a new fan!
