Some of today’s best-selling Christian Authors weave five all-new, unique, interconnected stories where a record-breaking blizzard warms cold hearts and lives change forever.
Blizzard in the Bluegrass by Hallee Bridgeman A once in a century winter storm hits Charula, Kentucky taking the small town completely by surprise. Gloria has just started to make room in her life for Doctor Jeff, but feels very protective of her eight year old autistic son, Noah. When the blizzard shuts everything down, they cannot imagine how events will unfold will change their lives forever.
Buried Secrets by Alana Terry Cosette travels to a remote Alaskan wilderness to finally meet the love of her life, only to discover the man she fell in love with may be a murderer. Is she his next target?
Wrong About Mr. Wright by Chautona Havig Ronni is convinced that her early retirement plan just got buried under the snowdrifts of Juniper Springs. Stranded, she teams up with local resident, Hank, and helps “make Christmas” for the rest of her fellow passengers. Now, if he’d just stop messing with her idea of the perfect man.
More Than Enough by Jaycee Weaver For single mom Ada, there's never time, money, patience, joy. She's not enough, though compassionate Kent disagrees. When a freak snowstorm traps the couple and her three kids in a theater on Christmas, she'll either discover her worth in Christ or crumble under the pressure.
When Snowflakes Never Cease by Amanda Tru When her young patient needs the best care to save her life, Dr. Geneva Hutchins turns to top cancer specialist and the man who broke her heart, Dr. Carter Solomon. Together, they embark on a journey to save Allie and grant her wish to see her daddy by Christmas.
Please The Crossroads Collections are sets of stories that are interconnected in some way, but the collections are independent, complete, and can be read in any order.
Blizzard in the Bluegrass by Hallee Bridgeman: This was a beautiful story about Gloria, a mom with an autistic son. This story made me laugh, cry, hold my breath and in the end absolutely loved the story. Buried Secrets by Alana Terry: All I can say is "Wow!" This was a hard book to read and my mind kept changing over and over about 'who did it'? Excellent story...heart wrenching for sure...but loved the story. Wrong About Mr. Wright by Chautona Havig: At first I didn't like where this story was going but as it progressed, I loved how Ronni changed and how she and Hank made an otherwise awful Christmas for many end up being just wonderful. Excellent story. More Than Enough by Jaycee Weaver: In this story, Ada, a single mom never thinks she is good enough or doing enough and keeps herself stressed out. Then she meets Kent who helps her to see that she is enough. Another really good story with a good ending. When Snowflakes Never Cease by Amanda Tru: This was the hardest book in this collection for me to read. It's a very heart warming story, with many lessons that are learned by many different people. I must say I knew what was coming in the end but it still broke my heart and I cried like a baby. The wonderful thing about all of these books in this collection is the life changing episodes that occurred by allowing God into lives and realizing that He has a plan for all of us and He does answer prayers...just not always the way we want Him to.
All six of the books in this collection featured big snowstorms at Christmas Time.
"Blizzard In The Bluegrass" by Hallee Bridgeman - Jeff, a doctor and Gloria, a verterinarian. Jeff had to overcome losing his wife and daughter in a terrible car accident. Gloria had to overcome her husband leaving because he could not deal with an autistic child.
"Buried Secrets" by Alana Terry Cosette met Josh on the internet. She decides to leave Los Angeles and fly to Alaska to meet Josh in person. This was so scary to me. I don't want to give the plot away, but you will be shocked to read what happens in this story.
"Wrong About Mr. Wright" by Chautona Havig A plane full of passengers have to spend days in an airport because of getting stranded by a blizzard. Hand Wright meets Ronni Carlisle - Ronni is a new Christian and Hank needs to show her how to be a great Christian. I loved what Ronni decided to do for Christmas. She was learning to have a servant heart for others.
"More Than Enough" by Jaycee Weaver Ada is a librarian and Kent is the school counselor. Ada and Kent and Ada's children get stranded in an unusual place for Christmas.
"When Snowflakes Never Cease" by Amanda Tru This final story wrapped up all 6 novellas. I thought this was a wonderful way to end this series. Geneva and Carter were doctors - they needed to help Allie because Allie has cancer.
I rated and reviewed each book in this collection separately. (And the only reason it says I've read this collection 3 times is because I'm putting the dates for each story I read so they each count for my reading challenge.)
Blizzard in the Bluegrass 2.5 stars There are things I liked and didn’t like about this story. While I liked Gloria and how she was parenting her autistic son, Noah, I didn’t like that she was a divorced woman. No, it wasn’t her choice, but it doesn’t change the facts. We’ve gotten so used to divorce and remarriage that we seem to have forgotten what the Bible says about it. Jeff was a very likable guy, though I did get tired of the mentions of how handsome and gorgeous he was. His interactions with Noah were great, and, except for the kissing, I liked his relationship with Gloria. Add some adorably sweet dogs and I had to smile several times. While this story ends at Christmas time, most of it seems to take place before then so it didn’t feel like a true Christmas story to me. (I’m picky about my Christmas stories.)
There were some fairly detailed kisses even before any engagement. And Gloria is divorced.
Buried Secrets 1 star I started this book, skimmed parts, and realized very quickly that I didn’t want to read about a sick killer. Besides the fact that I knew who it was pretty quickly, just from skimming and skipping, I could tell there was too much evil for me to enjoy this story at all. I can’t recommend this story and won’t be reading it. It’s a phycological thriller not a Christmas story!
Wrong about Mr. Wright 2 stars I was hoping for a good Christmas story, but it turned out to me more of a romance then a Christmas story. Yes, there were decorations, and cookie making, wrapping presents, and surprises, but that all seemed to be the side thing with the focus on Ronnie’s “list for Mr. Right” and if those things are what the Bible says she should be looking for. Don’t get me wrong, there was a lot of good thoughts and such in the story, but I wasn’t wanting to read all about two people deciding within a matter of hours, or a day even, that they were falling for the other person. I also didn’t care for the talk about kissing that makes your toes curl. It just wasn’t what I was wanting. There were also a few times that the actions felt really vague and made me confused about what was going on. And some kissing though it wasn’t very detailed.
More than Enough 1 star I didn’t finish this story. After finding out that not just one main character, but both were divorced, I skimmed the rest of the story and wasn’t interested in reading it. They talk about how divorce is wrong and the Bible says that you shouldn’t divorce except for adultery, but they never mention the part in the Bible that says that those who marry someone who is divorced commit adultery too. I don’t enjoy stories where divorce is treated as excusable and remarriage afterwards okay. This story also talks about the need to forgive yourself which is not biblical.
When Snowflakes Never Cease 2.5 stars This story was sad, sweet, hard, and touching. Both main characters were doctors which was fun, but they didn’t get along at all! I liked the characters for the most part but I got really tired of Geneva’s attitude toward Carter. I really wanted to step in and tell her a few things. Allie was so sweet, and her goodbye had me blinking back tears though I rarely cry over a book. One side guy is divorced (What is with all the divorce!) and mentions having a new girlfriend.
There is one time when Geneva and Carter have to share a hotel room because of a blizzard and no other rooms are available. They are not married, but one sleeps on the couch and the other in the bed. Some long kisses take place. Some talk about a guy without a shirt on. I probably won't read any of the stories in this collection again.
I really enjoyed most of these. I will admit that Alana Terri’s novella wasn’t my favorite. It is simply a genre thing. Suspense just isn’t my favorite! It was still well written and enjoyable, but not my cup of tea. Otherwise I loved them all. I think Amanda Tru’s or Jaycee Weaver’s was my favorite. Overall, a great collection, and I can’t wait for more from these authors!
When Snowflakes Never Cease (Crossroads Collection Book 6) by Amanda Tru and others Was able to read Hallee Bridgeman's story and loved it. .. Blizzard in the Bluegrass by Hallee Bridgeman This story starts out with the local vet and she's raising and autistic son but she knows what to do when it gets too noisy for him at the mall. They are able to spend a lot of time helping others with their animals. She is able to meet the new owner of the farm where she's tending to the newborn puppies. SO much is going right for all of them, even Noah til one night... The blizzard came upon them fast and Gloria stays calm and directs Jeff and her dad what to do on their end...so tragic... Jeff is also found in his kitchen after tending to Noah and he's sitting on the floor with his head in his hands-because we've learned of the devastation he went through with his losses. Love the part God plays in this whole story, love Vikings also, what a connection and Noah speaks to Jeff who only knows what he knows about... Love hearing of the encouragement and progress with Noah. Love the epilogue, learning more about autism, Vikings, canning and their careers. Personal note from the author is included. Excerpt from the next in the series: The Seven Year Glitch is also included. Discussion questions are included at the end. Recipes are include, about the author, Contact the author online links, Other works by the author are highlighted at the end, some are summarized. Newsletter sign up also. Can't wait to read more from this author. Fun, interesting, very informative, pulls at your heart strings and brings God into the story. I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
This was a wonderful collection of stories to read this week because it was a week we were going to get snow. I truly enjoyed reading all these stories. Each one had a powerful message. I really loved how they all connected. It brought to mind how there are times in our own lives that we may not know how events will have a ripple effect. Each one of these authors are ones I enjoy reading so that was an added blessing.
This book was a little out of my normal genre as I normally fantasy or suspense with Romance. However I was interesting the "Crossroads" feature, where all the stories tie in together somehow in the last book. I really enjoyed these stories and never had to push my way to finish. The last chapter of the last story really had me crying (in a good way) and I never do that with books, but it was a powerful and realistic story that got me in the heart !! Blizzard in Bluegrass and When Snowflakes Never Cease are favorites of the book, however I really did enjoy all of them completely. A couple were a little slow for me to get into and connect with the main characters, but once I did, it was really good.
I highly encourage people to read this book, all the stories all the way through to get the full impact. Even if you are like me and normally not a straight romance genre reader. Oh, and be prepared to cry on the last chapter in the last story, it was amazing.
Memories have a way of making the commonplace exquisite. This reader has read all the Crossroad Collections, each with a unique binding thread. As a holiday collection - Amanda Tru's story was heartbreaking. As a retired teacher and Oma to two granddaughters, I could not finish reading Buried Secret by Alana Terry. Suspense is not my genre and the story did not seem to fit in with the rest of the stories, even though it made reference to a previous Crossroads collection (Betwixt Two Hearts) and the on-line dating site. As a German, whose mother collected Hummel figurines, I enjoyed Wrong about Mr. Wright by Chautona Havig. I enjoyed how Ronni mellowed and tried to make Christmas for the stranded passengers. Living in snowy Midwest, I understand how people can be stranded in airports and theaters. A delightful wintery mix of characters, settings, and plots.
As I said to my husband today while trying to describe how much I enjoyed this book that I finished last night, these Crossroads Collections feed something in me that my soul just longs for. The way such seemingly unrelated stories end up being interconnected and part of beautiful plans that God is orchestrating for the good of so many of His people encourages my heart and inspires me to greater trust and fuller peace in the midst of circumstances that seem mundane and even trying in my own life. It is hard for me to even put into words the blessing that these books have been in my life. I know they have been used by God to grow my faith and given me new eyes to look for what God might be doing around me. I highly recommend this book and all of these collections, and I can't wait for the next one!
My favorite book in this collection was Wrong About Mr. Wright. This story also involves being stranded in an airport during a blizzard. Ronni was on her way to make a deal that would make it possible to retire early—and couldn't get there. Instead, she was stuck in Hank's house. There was no way that Hank fit her list of requirements for a man to be in a relationship with—yet he made her question that list. I lost sleep over Buried Secrets—don't read it at bedtime! This book was very hard to put down. I liked the ending. I also really liked the final book, which wraps up the whole collection and brings everything together. It's fun to see how five different authors can take an idea and do completely different things with it, and then see how the stories can all be interconnected.
I'm so thankful for the talented 4 authors that wrote such beautiful stories that lived on in integral ways in the final story by the 5th author to When Snowflakes Never Cease. Each story was a range of emotions with circumstances like actual lives and flavored with faith and God's love. This collection was a great jump start to my December Christmas reading. I enjoyed the writings of a couple of my favorite Christian authors and now some new to me Christian authors! Wonderful collaboration ladies!
Well Amanda Tru’s story comes last and is fresh on my mind. And wow was it excellent but so hard to read. Not only did I identify with a lot of Geneva’s struggles but I have a personal connection to the biggest plot driving factor (trying not to give away any spoilers with my description here!). It was emotional and left me feeling a little raw but a little healed. The other books were excellent, as usual. The newcomer did not disappoint. I think each Crossroads Collection gets better and better and ties together better and better each time.
My initial intention was to rate and review each of these stand-alone stories separately. By the time I finished reading the final book in the collection I was glad I hadn't started down that path. I feel like I can only look at this collection, now, as a singular big picture of great spiritual significance for me personally. This collection touched me deeply; each of the stand-alone books resonating in unique ways to different personal faith journeys and life experiences that have either been my own or that of someone close to me. These books are heartwarming and inspiring.
I typically enjoy a collection of stories from different authors. It’s such an easy way to try out new authors. One of my favorite authors remains Hallee Bridgeman. I’ve read everything she’s written and find that her books are worth owning, not just borrowing. This collection is terrific. ALL of the stories are good and I will be reading the collection again. Give it a try.
After finishing this book collection (for the second time around), I headed out to run errands, I was still so caught up in the book I was shocked to realize there was no snow in sight.
Be prepared to be emotionally challenged with this one. It's not just a light read that takes you out of everyday life, it grips you, makes you think, might even make you cry. Well worth the time invested to read it.
Blizzard in the Bluegrass - Hallee Bridgeman I have been at a bit of a loss of what to read, so I went to my list of favorite authors, which Bridgeman is one, and grabbed one from that stack. I really enjoyed this single mom romance and how it just moved through life. The autism spectrum child was an enjoyable part, and I really appreciated the parenting. There are parenting aspects that I am going to apply to my own children.
Readers will find that this is hard to put down once started! From one end of the country to the other end, you will see lives changed, miracles happen, love following. It truly shows how God works through Romans 8:28-- ALL things work to the good to those who are called according to His purpose!!
Favorite authors old and a new one or too. Each story well crafted, with unique character you’ll come to love and not want to say good bye to, filled with depth and eternal truths yet better as a whole, an interwoven collection. Laugh, smile, groan, cry, grin and grow along with these characters and their stories.
The Crossroads Collections are some of my favorite books that I immediately purchase via preorder. This collection may be my favorite one to date. All of the stories are fun and heart-warming to read, and the last story (which ties them all togather) is particularly exceptional.
I really enjoyed these stories very much. They truly touched my heart and gave me perspective. The last booked meshed so well with all of them. It was a pleasant and surprising experience. I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to reading the other Crossroads books.
What a collection - mystery, suspense, romance, tragedy, and miracles. The stories can be read independently but all together they have a completely different impact. Read it - you'll enjoy it!!
In each of the stories in this collection, we see God's hand at work. Each of these authors worked to bring us a delightful, thought-provoking story. The surprise is to see how all of the stories tied into each other with two themes.
I believe I've read all but one of the Collection. Loved each but When Snowflakes Never Cease takes first place. Absolutely awesome! Stories are seamlessly interwoven with a climatic ending that will deeply touch your heart.
Clean romances with subtle links to each other as characters cross each other’s paths. I enjoy the variety of unique stories and the way each author brought faith and trust in God into their work.
The action , adventure, love and faith, these authors keep things interesting. I haven’t gotten nearly enough sleep since I started this series. Thank for taking me into the lives of these characters.
I really enjoyed this collection of stories from such talented authors. So much excitement, surprise, joy, and yes even tears. Amanda Tru did an amazing job tying these stories together. She made it feel so real. Absolutely an amazing collection.
This was a great book. Struggling to let God be in. Control really came thru the story . Many years were shed at the end of the story. God does work many things out for us
Thank you for these five wonderful inspiring stories. Each one tells its own unique story. They show how God guides them through their difficulties and always has a better plan for them. I enjoyed each story whether through laugher or tears.
Wow! This was an amazing book! It is my favorite one yet out of all the series! I always love how Amanda ties all the stories together. But mire than that, she writes stories that stir you to make a difference. This one is no exception.
These stories all connect with the very last one! Each have people coming to realize with God, change is possible. Not all of them end happily, but all will make you realize the Lord works in each life! Good read!
