In search of life's meaning, Cherry leaves her high-powered sales job to spend three months working on an organic farm. The owner, Margo, is intensely confident and terrifyingly beautiful - and has little patience for city girls who don't know what they're doing.
Desperate to gain Margo's respect, Cherry does her best to adjust to farm life. Although she's never been interested in women, she's intrigued when she learns Margo has particular tastes. Suddenly Cherry wants to please her boss in a whole different way.
As Cherry is swept into a world of exquisite delights, her feelings for the captivating older woman grow. Will she belong to her domme for a moment in time? Or will Margo keep her - forever?
Kim Hartfield is a queer woman who's been writing since she could pick up a pen. Her novels are sweet and steamy, and while they may tackle serious issues, they always end with a happily-ever-after. She lives in a beachside city with her partner and their dogs, Chelsea and Rodent.
3.5⭐️ – This is the second book I listen to in a relatively short period that begins with a city girl needing a change in life, applying to work on a farm and unexpectedly finding love. The first one was Must Love Chickens by Jea Hawkins. That’s where the similarities stop though. Mine feels like Must Love Chickens for adults (with a goat instead of chickens).
After something she’s not ready to talk about happened to her, Cherry left her city, her boyfriend, her family, everything really, to volunteer for three months on a small isolated farm in Idaho. The first few days are harder than she imagined, especially since the farmer, Margo, seems terse and unfriendly. Still, Cherry soon realises that she craves Margo’s approval. Margo’s attitude quickly softens and when she learns her temporary boss is a lesbian and into BDSM, a whole new world of possibilities opens up to Cherry, who until now thought she was straight and into vanilla sex and suddenly finds herself desperate to submit to a woman.
This book is very sexy long before there’s any sex happening. Cherry’s journey, her impatience, the anticipation, the precautions Margo takes with her before anything happens, to make sure she knows what she’s signing up for and that she really wants it… Every step is sexier than the previous one.
The story is (mainly) told in first person from Cherry’s point of view, so we experience the way she changes from within, how she goes from oblivious city girl with a secret to this curious and open young woman. We also see Margo through her eyes, get to understand her through Cherry’s thoughts.
Audiobook lovers often say that a good narration can make an okay book better and that bad narration can ruin a fantastic book. It’s not that Violet Woods’ narration of Mine is bad exactly but there’s an undeniable pace issue and the oddest pauses, as well as repeated sentences. Which is a real shame because Violet Woods’ voices are good and it wouldn’t take much for the narration itself to be. I really liked the story and got invested in the characters from the start so decided not to allow these flaws to bother me too much. I’ll be honest, if the audiobook had been longer, I probably wouldn’t have made the effort, but I figured that I could deal with the glitches for six hours or so. I adjusted the speed a little – which I never do – and after a while, got so lost in the two women’s relationship that I didn’t care as much. I got jarred out of the story a few times by repeated sentences or long blanks but by then I was hooked.
I hate to write this but this story deserved better. I think this is Ms Woods’ first audiobook so I hope in future narrations she finds a way to fix what mostly amounts to technical problems.

Sweet Cherry and Mistress Margo Cherry is looking for something to give her life meaning so she decides to volunteer on a farm for three months. Since she wants to get away from her family she chooses a place more than a thousand miles away from her home. Margo owns the farm. She is intense, strong, confident and oh so beautiful. It doesn’t take long at all before Cherry wants to prove to Margo that she can learn and is capable of the work. And maybe a bit more than a little attracted to the woman, especially after finding out about her preferences…
This is a sweet, lovely and wonderful tale. Margo and Cherry both have their own insecurities but they are able to overcome them, mostly because of the other. The setting was wonderful and the story, heartwarming and special. I loved the love and self realizations they have. Cherry is so charming and she gets her way so much but shes not a brat about it, it just fits. Margo spoils her and that’s ok too, its all a part of who she is… They are both adorable and so loveable I just want to squeeze them like Mr Whipple squeezed the Charmin!!! I digress, this is a wonderful book and so worth the read!!
I enjoyed the story and liked the characters. Cherry is looking for a change and is keeping a secret. Margo gives in to her attraction and starts a relationship with Cherry. Their type of situation needs complete trust and honesty. Margo is a loving domme and her only rule is to be open and honest. Can she forgive Cherry for breaking that vow?
I didn’t know whether to cringe or laugh at the opening of the book. The blurb is interesting but the book didn’t hold up. My least favorite Hartfield book
I was super excited to read a book happening in a farm and this one did not disappoint. I liked it a lot, even though the beginning had me twisting my nose, but also laughing at the absurdity of what Cherry was thinking lmfao but it was super funny. I’ll never forget Harmony, the goat XD Anyways, the whole farm thing and how things work there is something that fascinates and interests me, and I loved Cherry and Margo’s story. How their relationship came to be and how it developed while they worked on the farm. It was a steamy romance with light bdsm that I didn’t know I needed. I really enjoyed it.
I tread carefully with BDSM books because they tend to be (let's be real) uniquely not-good. Both in a general way, and in specific ways that squick me out personally (but might be okay to others). Fairly recently, I was whining about the fact that I never seem to read any f/f D/s novels that are actually good, rather than just meh or okay. And I'm pretty sure this is the closest to perfect it's ever gotten.
But lol like that's something to keep in mind in and of itself. Was this book actually good, or have I just read so many bad ones that it seems good in comparison? Who knows lol. But I had a fun time with this. It didn't hit any of my no-nos; no issues with consent, a good amount of negotiation, no over the top possessiveness, no lifestyle kink (not really). And it was super sexy. I appreciated all the detail that went into building the setting; the farm, the type of agriculture Margo does, the little subplot with Harmony which was actually pretty touching. The novel even touches on veganism and anti-capitalism and environmental issues. Not in any profound way, don't expect anything deep but... IDK it was a nice surprise!
I do feel like it was just shy of being... preachy, when it came to ~eating healthy~ and the whole shebang. The conflict was also just. SO predictable, and so avoidable, I was pretty annoyed when it happened. Also it got a little corny and cliched, and the details I appreciated in the writing sort of fizzled out near the end, where the story became more cookie-cutter than ever.
Still, I'm counting this as a win. 3.5 stars. Will def. try this author again.
Well I've read four of Kim's books and this one is very different not your usual story, there's still the wonderful romance element but the older of the two mc's Margo is a BDSM which peeks Cherry the younger girls interest. The BDSM/love scenes are wonderfully written and not in the tiniest bit salacious, I loved it well worth 5*
This story was so hot. The relationship between Margo and Cherry was written well. The story flow was easy and exciting. I love Kim Hartfields writing and this was another good one!
Solid 4-star book. Good representation of BDSM lifestyle. Although it's not overly kinky, and the kink that is there, is mild enough to where it doesn't way down the rest of the actual story.
I was truly surprised by how much I enjoyed this read. After suffering a serious injury, Cherry is sick of the rut she is in with her life. So she volunteers for a position working on a remote farm far way from home, leaving behind her boyfriend, job and family. Margo, the owner of the farm, is a tough nut to crack in the beginning. I don’t think she liked cherry much because she is a “city girl”. But the more time they spend together the more Cherry learns about Margo. Not only is she a lesbian but she is also a Domme. Cherry begins to feel a strong attraction to her. I felt bad for her boyfriend. I thought he deserved better. Poor thing. I was glad she broke up with him so he could move on and find someone more suited for him. Cherry and Margo submit to a torrid affair, a domme/sub relationship. There were some erotic scenes with candid detail. The only negative thing I can point out is that I wish it had shown Cherry and Margo consummate their relationship fully. Margo needed to be able to trust Cherry wholly before she shed her clothes. When they became a true, committed couple it didn’t show that. I thought it would be important to the story because it would have proven that Margo trusted Cherry completely now. But despite it was a great read!
The more I read of Kim Hartfield, the more I like her work,,,,,,
This was an awesome read, for me at least ,,,,, I really enjoy well written lesbian stories ,,,, it seems there is this major flooding of M/M stories out there everyday, and while there really is nothing wrong with that, I would like to see more real Lesbian stories out there ,,,,,, this is why I following great lesbian work like this amazing author I'm reviewing and the few others out there, like Annie Amos,,,,,, if you haven't read a good lesbian story, maybe you should try this one,,,,,,, give it a shot, whatcha got to lose ??? A few hours reading another genre could be fun,,,,,, !!! I would so totally recommend this book to anyone ,,,,,, !!!

Cherry was a 22 year old young woman whose desire to do something meaningful led her to volunteer on a farm.
The house was an earthship- all upcycled materials. Margo built the whole thing with her own hands. Farm volunteers were free labor to help Margo with planting and harvesting her crops.
Cherry develops a particular fondness for the little milk goat, though she seems a bit challenged by the milking.
Margo and Cherry come from two very different worlds, but a love for the land, and for each other could change both their worlds if they can learn to let it happen.
Intense f/f romance with bdsm overtones.

Our heroine is a city girl looking for a change of pace. Picking an organic farm as her starting point may have been a stretch, but then our other heroine might just make it all worthwhile.
This is a FF romance with an older/younger element to it as well. The story is very well written and easy to read, making the time go by very quickly. The characters are also wonderful, with depth of personality that brings the scenes to life. Add to that a bit of steam and a nice HEA and you have the makings of a nice read.
Highly recommended.

I fell in love with this unlikely romance. I wish I was brave like Cherry to just go away and have an experience like this it would be so amazing. Just get away from city life for awhile and enjoy the country life while actually learning a life skill. Margo is an incredible farmer and loving Domme who teaches and brings out the best in Cherry. This wonderful story made me laugh, frustrated, almost cry...all while opening my eyes to the loving part of BDSM. Thank you Kim Heartfield for this beautiful story of older/younger happiness and love
Very good book. Showed how farming can be done successfully without the need for big gas guzzling tractors and large acreage. The love story had me guessing how it would turn out. Resolution or rejection. I loved the character development of both Margo and Cherry. Having had a concussion, I could sympathize with Cherry’s struggle to make the world make sense again. It took me 8 months to have some reclamation of my previous abilities but am still struggling some 16 years latter.
She wants something more so she leaves her job and goes to work on an organic farm where she meets her. It seems she cannot do right so she tries even harder. They may find a connection. Will they? See how they get on

A definite yes! I became so involved with the characters that at one point I almost dropped my kindle as I said “Oh my god! No!” Though I want more of Cherry and Margo, Ms. Hartfield gives a complete and satisfying story. *kindle unlimited reader
A city girl tries to make a farmer out of herself!
It was supposed to be three months of learning how to live off the land. But a moment of not being truthful of a past accident almost sends her home. It is determination that she manages to stay. Enjoy!
This is the kind of sapphic love 💘story I like to spend my time reading ! Filled with warmth ; and compassion , plenty intimacy and most of all a Happy Ending !
I really enjoyed this book! This my 3rd time reading this. I really loved the age gap romance. I myself fell in love someone 17 yes older than me!!! Keep it up. I look forward to reading more or her work
Except for chapter 14 which felt clunky and almost made me quit reading - the book was fantastic. I loved Margo way more than Cherry but that could be due to her young childish ways. Will definitely pick up another Kim Hartfield in the future.
Wanted to give this a 3 star rating, but bumped up to 4 star for being a non-problematic book with mild bdsm themes. After reading some flat out horrifying books, it was so refreshing to see all the talk of negotiation, consent, and communication.
I absolutely loved this read. I found myself getting lost in the characters and desperate for them to be more intimate. I love the story and the dynamics. Fab book.
The distance to the farm with no neighbors close to interact with put me off into thinking of a "Stockholm syndrome" type attachment to Margo from Cherry.
