100 Science-Based Questions To Happiness: 100 Science-Based Questions That Help You Discover Your Way To More Happiness

Rate this book
We only have one life, so it makes sense to make it a happy life. There’s a lot of advice out there on how to be happier but most of it isn’t backed by any evidence and research. The science of positive psychology already has the answers as to how to lead a happier life. However, according to Martin Seligman, an American psychologist and the leader in the field of positive psychology, the findings carry bad news as well as good news. The bad news is that about 50% of our happiness level is hereditary which means we only have limited control over its level. If your parents were happy, you will be happy as well. If not, then you’re already starting with a disadvantage. The good news is that you can increase your happiness by changing the way you think about your life and by doing exercises. Martin Seligman provides a relatively simple model called PERMA for building and maintaining a happy life. PERMA is an acronym that stands for Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Accomplishments. This book is designed to guide you through each of the components of the PERMA model and discover the areas in your life that need some work in order for you to become happier. This book will help you develop better relationships, experience more joy and fun in your daily life, as well as find a deeper meaning of life and long-term fulfillment.

Alex Noble (Introduction + 6 title chapters) Nov. 5, 2019

This very quick read is an introduction to the PERMA model for happiness in life. The recommended way of reading this book is to pick a question every night and write about it thoughtfully in the morning. Short of that, pick a question and write it as you have time. I skipped all of that and read it straight through. However, I do plan to come back and follow through as suggested. I write 500 words (or try to) every morning, so this would be a good way to get my mind thinking. Also: for the questions, I get the impression that the reader can pick. No need to go from top to bottom in row. There are 99 questions in this book and nothing else (besides the intro.) The links in the intro are a good example of how you can take these questions and use them to the best.

Three stars.

Yep, 100 Questions

Certainly thought provoking and nicely arranged, but not exactly new.
I would recommend it for anyone willing to do the work of asking one's own self these questions.
