Alice and Yukko are separated for the first half of the book. Alice, a Georgian who speaks Russian, tries to get by on her own in Japan when she has no clothes and only knows a few words of the language. There's a silly and forced moment when the story shoehorns her back into an Alice in Wonderland costume, but her adventure is interesting. Meanwhile, Yukko gets pulled into a world of conspiracies, cover-ups, and paranoia as she falls under the thumb of the government.

Rather than run with these two stories for a while, it feels like the creator was forced to start falling into the typical story developments that manga editors seem to favor. Before too long we have a big battle scene that introduces more powered characters and starts to explode what was a gory and claustrophobic little horror story into a battle epic. To tie into the Alice in Wonderland theme, the new guys are based on Tweedledee and Tweedledum. I expect we'll be getting the whole Wonderland cast before too long. (But I'm hoping to be proved wrong.)

And of course we have to have some up-skirt shots, 'cuz fan service.

I keep going back and forth on this series, but the final pages make me happy I still have one more volume on hand.

Alice and Yukko manage to reunite, but are immediately forced to flee from the SDF. Simultaneously, more people with mysterious powers similar to those of Alice and Iosef enter the stage ...

description

I have to agree with some of the other reviewers here and say that this plot, though it has interesting elements to it, simply doesn't feel very original. I think this would have worked better had the focus stayed more on discovering a new and fantastical world, much like Alice has to in the original classic, than on running away from and fighting the military.

I don't mind the addition of more superpowered people - hopefully, this might take the story in a more exciting direction.

Through the rabbit hole

You know what? After reading this volume I realized that after being discovered by the SDF in the tub Alice's escape by shrinking and escaping in the draining tub is obviously a reference to Alice being washed into Wonderland after trying to figure out the shrinking and growing so she could get through the door. Why just now you may ask? I understand the series is called Wonderland but I thought that was just because one of the main characters could shrink and enlarge herself and others (not to mention her love for Alice outfits.) Now we see a pair of portly boys with new powers causing havoc that might be representative of Tweedledee and Tweedledum and it made me wonder what other references Yugo Ishikawa is trying too cram in here? There are definitely some beheadings and both Alice and Iosef have cat like eyes (but neither has shown any inclination to be able to make parts of their bodies appear and vanish at will.) Maybe I would notice more if I glanced through the volumes again but for now the chase is on and not everyone can be trusted. After all down here we are all mad.

Seperated from Yukko, Alice is discovered by a young girl thinking she is a doll after she is lost and naked after escaping her pursuers. With a little help the two girls meet once more (as explained in the description of the book) just to discover not only is Alice's power about shrinking but like Ant-man she can get Goliath as well. Will the girls be able to keep running and what is going to happen to Alice after experiencing her new larger than life power? Guess you'll have to read to find out. :)

It was better than the last one... Alice plays doll again and gets me hungry for some curry too! And we get a massive confrontation in a city center with Alice, Iosif, the SDF, and some new super powered children. Can Alice shrink her way out of this situation? And, will Yukko be able to help her after Alice’s role in her parents’ death? This volume seemed to have more forward movement propelling it. The art is much the same. Action sequences are rather staid and still. I’m in for one more volume due in March, but it will likely be my last.

Just sent this one off to print two weeks ago! Things continue to get really crazy here in the Wonderland-verse... And just when you thought it couldn't get weirder, it will. Hope you enjoy this volume, guys!

I just wish the plotline was stronger. I feel as though I don't really know what's happening or WHY any of it is happening. This series had such potential.

This series continues to get more interesting with every volume. It's starting to remind me of ES, one of my favorite manga about psychics. The way this story is unfolding is so exciting.

Un tome 4 moins passionnant qui a perdu mon intérêt pour l'histoire. Pas de lecture des tomes 5 et 6 malheureusement.

The beginning of this was so cute with Alice and the little girl. I’m glad Alice and Yukko found each other. But where did the twin boys come from and is Iosif supposed to be like the Mad Hatter?
