“I’m the most powerful witch of my generation. I’ll die before I let these bullies have their way.”
Most people in Woodlock’s Home for Magical Delinquents swear they don’t belong here - well, I do. If someone asked me if I was a good witch or a bad witch, I’d tell them that I'm the worst witch they could ever imagine. My parents are wanted fugitives, and now I’ve been abandoned in the magical world’s equivalent of juvenile hall.
At Woodlock’s, we’re supposed to be rehabilitated into model magical citizens, but the teachers are weak and the bullies run the show. Three dangerously hot sorcerers - Blake, Knox, and Zane - have me in their sights, but I’ll show them that this bad witch doesn’t kneel to anyone - especially the Sons of Hell.

Wayward Witch is a stand-alone reverse harem bullies-to-lovers romance. A full length supernatural college academy romance. Contains profanity, violence, and situations that may be triggering for some readers.
SAMANTHA BELL is a writer, student, and self-diagnosed book hoarder. She has been living in her imagination as long as she can remember. She tweets sporadically with the handle @SamanthaWrites0 but Facebook is her main haunt.
In Wayward Witch, blue-haired Evie arrives at a reform school for magical people. Evie is a witch and witches need either a wand or an athame to cast hexes. The magical world also has shapeshifters and mages. Mages seem to be top of the food chain and also powered by the elements. They blast things and do subtle manipulation things but my take on mage magic is that it's thug magic and possibly men do it and women only sometimes and not very well. The world building is fairly basic.
Evie starts out wandless, is briefly rewanded and then wandless again for most of the book. She says she's super powerful as a witch, so ok, but I also think she made a poor strategic move in choosing a stick as her loci, because they are breakable. I mean sure, there's the Potterness of using a wand, but she could have had a knife. A nice little knife with multiple concealment options, and good and pointy if you want to poke someone a bit, or make yourself a cheese sandwich. Can't make a cheese sandwich with a wand! And even, probably, you can't use a wand to toast marshmallows. Evie made a poor choice and I don't respect her as a heroine.
The school is 'run' by three bully boy mages. Their dads are important criminal boss mages, so the bully boys get their own self-contained apartment within the school. Evie immediately puts herself on their shit list by not being properly quivering in response to their status. Oh, and she has no time for their sex innuendo, and since their sex innuendo is 'hey let's all root you, mages are polyamorous' I support her lack of interest. I wish she'd remained disinterested: these boys have zero smoulder. One is enraged all the time. One is wishy washy. One is something else, I guess. I think he's equal mean with the cranky one, but not as cranky. And until the secondary plot kicks in, the bully boys are being all toxic and oppressive in response to the tiniest challenge to their fragile teenage egos and its tiresome. Again, these people in a reverse harem plot are moving towards a solution that's all wrong for them. They don't need group sex, they don't need group anything. Before they can serve in a community they need to develop a mature and complex internal framework that's resilient, but instead they'll only ever be 'good' within whatever parameters the heroine defines. And we all know she's no good at anything, given she chose a stick.
The secondary plot is that Evie unwittingly knows the location of her parents, who are on the run from both justice and the retribution of the criminal mage bosses. This very thin plot is set to stretch across at least one, possibly more books, and good luck with that.
But the main reason I'm not even mildly interested in going any further with this series is the plunging. I'm pretty tolerant of boring pretty boys gnashing it over a mediocre heroine, but if there's one thing I cannot stand it's plunging. What's going on here, she's not a blocked toilet. All the sex is touch-touch-plunge, except for the every hole a goal moment, when a single thrust is introduced. That hole isn't single thrust ready.
Oh, and the heroine is also subjected to an unsexy public beating from a male adult in a position of power. Gross.
This book has some issues on verbal abuse and the bad girl loving it. So if you are not able handle bullying please don';t pick this book up. We have Evie who has always been on the run with her parents. One day the MCS comes and her parents get away, but she is sent to the Academy for delinquents. Where she meets the boys from Sons of Hell, Blake, Knox and Zane. They all want her, but refuse to given in. They torment her and she try's to give it right back. Will they ever get along? Why does she have feeling for them when they are so mean? Why does everyone keep asking about her parents? Will they break her? Will she ever get away from this place? Can the guys ever give into their feelings or are they just that mean?

This was a great book, a lot of things reminded me of my own youth. The bullying was sometimes hard to read, it hurts. I was bullied myself a lot in highschool, so sometimes I needed a time-out. There was a part, I think it was on page 114 that I cried, it was very emotional. And there was no cliffhanger, that's so good.
I read the sample first and the first 3 chapters were great! Which is why I brought the book. I’ve finished the book a couple days before I wrote this review because I wanted to make sure I could construe my feelings on this book properly. Almost everything about this book has potential, and that’s the confusing part because I just don’t understand how it went so wrong. 1) I think the author and anyone who is comfortable with the main characters relationship should know that sexual assault is a bad thing. 2) the main girl is as weak as they come, I mean she has the resistance of a 4 year old with a 20 piece McNuggets in front of them. Every time one or all the boys came around she would always say”I’m done with them” then right after the period of that sentence, she’s in one of their arms about to bust a nut just from a touch. I mean could she not make it to the end of the paragraph at least?!? 3) the plot, most of the characters, almost everything would make a great story. The actual dialogue inner and outer really made this book fall short.
On a serious note, while there’s no actual rape scene, if you have triggers that are close to that I would not recommend reading this book. I don’t really recommend it to begin with, but if your mental and emotional health would be compromised, don’t do it. It’s not worth it.
This is a good book to read. I love to read bullies to lovers and this is perfect. I loved how the characters progressed throughout the book. So on this journey we meet Evelyn Knight. She seems to have had a rough go at growing up. With that being said she ends up at Woodlocks Home for Magical Delinquents. Here she meets the Sons of Hell, Blake, Knox and Zane. Even though they are hot as sin, I grew to like them. Don't think that Evie does not have a mean streak either. She is tough and I loved that about her. So why does Evie end up at this place? What is the connection with the mean hot guys? I really liked the storyline and the mystery of it all. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
This book was absolutely AMAZING!!! Evie is a bada** heroine. She’s tough, smart, and strong. Then there’s Blake, Knox, and Zane. Oh. My. God. If only they existed in real life! There are so many twists and turns that you don’t know what to believe or who to trust. A wonderful and scary world full of mages, witches and warlocks, as well as shifters of all kinds. As well as secret societies up to no good with hidden counterparts everywhere. Honestly such an amazing book. I can’t wait for book 2. I definitely recommend this book.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. This book is a must read!!
I love Evie, seriously she is one of my favorite characters of all times. She's a bad*** who is not afraid to stick up for herself, even when she has three broody af male bullying her, who just happen to be the sons of Hell. I love the worlds Samantha Bell creates for its readers, and I can't wait to dive in into her next book.
Evie is brought to Woodlock’s Home, a reform school for underage magic users, when she is caught by the Magical Control Squad. She’s been on the run with her parents since she was born and now at 18 she stayed behind to give them a chance to escape. At the Academy it doesn’t take long for Evie to run afoul of the three strongest and nastiest mages there, the Sons of Hell. They are rich, handsome, powerful and unquestionably in charge. Despite instant dislike, Evie is drawn to the three best friends and they to her. Evie’s parents are wanted by some very powerful people and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. Blake, Knox and Zane get drawn in through their families and must choose which direction to take. I liked the strength of Evie’s character and her relationship with Knox was sweet. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.
Now I don’t mind a bit of physical roughhousing in books, it happens in the least offensive books, but physical abuse is not my jam - especially when it comes in the form of someone who is in a position of authority and power over another. So if the 3 jerkwads behaviour (verbal abuse with nonconsensual physical contact) didn’t sour me on the story - and honestly, it did - then this would have been the clincher.
An interesting premise that in execution just wasn’t for me. If you are triggered by characters getting beaten (caned in this instance) then this is your heads up.
So this book was interesting and kind of confusing. The story line was great it just kinda felt like instead of rolling down a hill to get to the plot you jumped off a cliff if that makes sense. The boys went from rawr mean to lovey almost too fast she is a bit too ditzy honestly I think if the author drew out the book a bit more it would have been an amazing book. I really do like the story line though but it was lacking for me. Also they seem to go from normal talk to snoody talk and back again a lot.
I absolutely enjoyed getting to know Evie. Shes strong and independent, though life has made her that way without a choice. Honestly my favorite quality about her though is her ability to see her own faults and forgive. The 3 boys rubbed me the wrong way most of the book, but that's what a bully to lovers romance is supposed to be like. The story didnt feel rushed in any way, except maybe with the "romance" towards the end. I thought the flow was smooth and the backstory was developed enough to hook the reader, with promises for more depth in future books.
I’m so glad I took the opportunity to read this book. I really like Evie she’s one strong chick especially with three mega a-holes ,that think they’re better then everyone else. I’m so glad that they’re trying to prove themselves but it still doesn’t excuse what they did. I want to know where here parents are and who’s all sucked in this SOH mob . Oh and I hope the temp headmaster dies a slow painful death 💀. I can’t wait for the next book.
First let me state that I received an Advance Reader Copy, (ARC), but this in no way influences my review. I always leave an honest review. Also this author is new to me, but I hope not for long.
Holy shiznet!!! This story is gr8. Evie is sent to a magical reform school for using her magic illegally. There are 3 bullie; Blake, Knox, & Zane, that bully her. But they're also attracted to her. I truly enjoyed this story. I recommend this read. 5 Thumbs up.
The storyline was good. The characters were interesting and so were their stories. However, their chemistry was off. They were too hot and cold and the minute they were somewhat nice she completely gave in. Knox and Blake were eventually tolerable. I never could like Zane and his "complement" afterwards and her "don't look it's embarrassing" had me rolling my eyes, thinking really?!? The story as a whole had potential but it just felt rushed.
Wayward witch had all the qualities that you'd want in a RH paranormal bully romance. I really enjoyed the setting in this book and the characters were engaging and interesting. From the first chapter you are thrown into the story and were on edge wanting to find out more. This is my first book from this author and definitely won't be my last. Reform school never looked so good!
I am super thrilled with how awesome this story was! The characters are so much fun and they really brought the story to life! The storyline and plot was absolutely amazing and totally worth the loss of sleep! Magical, drool worthy characters and exciting! I can't wait for the next book!
When I read the blurb on this book it drew me in right away. Evie is an interesting character and the place she's sent to has some strange ways of dealing with kids. The more the story went on the more I wanted to know who her parents are, what they did, why they are running, and how powerful is Evie Evie really?
Evie is an underage witch who’s parents are on the run she is caught and taken to a reform school called Woodlocks where she meets the sons of hell Blake, Knox and Zane who run the school they of course are the bullies who Evie is drawn to as they are to her. Great characters and storyline and I recommend this book.
Wow, I usually don’t read bully romances that often but this was fantastic. Our main character definitely fought back and that was gold. This is definitely not your typical bully romance. The characters fight hard and dirty. The lines definitely blur. This is a perfect beginning. Samantha Bell you rock! Definitely need to check out more of her books.
This was fantastic. I loved this story. Evie is a sassy kickass character, with attitude to spare. The guys are interesting. Love the interactions between the guys, and Evie and the guys. Eagerly waiting for the next book.
This story has potential but it really needs a good edit. The flow was stilted and there were lots of spelling and grammar issues. I wasn't able to read more than half and I won't be continuing the series. But that's my opinion. Read it and form your own. xx
This was a great book. I loved the story line and characters. Both are well written and developed. The story draws you in from the start and keeps you until the end. I recommend reading.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a new author for me and I enjoyed the start of this series. Good plot and fantastic characters. The back and forth was a headache though and I was so frustrated that I almost dnf. I'm glad I did though.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book 😁 the only downside I would say is that this book maybe needed another edit because some of the errors broke me out of this interesting and beautiful story.
Interesting and mainly enjoyable, although the blatant sexual assault was insane upsetting, especially as the perpetrator was Blake and the victim/survivor was Evie.
Nope. I do not like body betrayal - like she is being severely bullied and abused by an absolute dick, who then sticks his hand up her skirt and she is wet. She was deathly afraid and begging for her life - just no. This gave me the icks. DNF
This story was short and sweet. Magical schools, reverse harem, mystery and self discovery all tied together. I definitely am looking forward to book two to see where the story takes these four!
Ok ok ok! I love this book! Well written characters! Has drama suspense and great chemistry between characters! I need to know what happens next I need the next book now!😍😮🧐😍😮🧐
Wow another great book from Samantha Bell. I really could not put this book down, Evie is an amazing main character with her blue hair and snarky attitude I fell in love with her immediately. And as for the Sons of Hell holy hot although I really wanted to kick Blake in the butt for being such a jerk at the beginning but Knox and Zane were hot and sweet. I can't wait for the next book to see if they find Evie's parents first before the law or even worse the Sons of Hell do.
