About the author

The short:

I'm a life-long reader, fantasy addict, cupcake hoarder and mom, which somehow hasn't ameliorated any of the previously mentioned questionable habits.

The long:

I started writing dark paranormal romance after getting addicted to a couple bully romances in a row and realizing I'd been in love with the trope since I met good old Logan Echolls (I'm a devout marshmallow as well). It took me a while to find the right recipe to explore all of my bad habits in one twisty plot, but I dedicated my waist line (please see above, re: cupcakes) and my extremely limited down time (please see above, re: mom) to it, and have created the Legends of the Ashwood Institute series. It has everything I love: hotness, sweetness, ANGST, a good bully, a bad girl (or twelve), witches, mysteries, small town drama, MAGIC, secret societies, loads of smexyness of the darkest kind and that hurt/comfort dynamic that makes me waaay too invested in fictional characters.

So here we are. Please enjoy my decadent hobby with me.

This is book four in the Legends of Ashwood Institute series. We continue with Jake and Raven's story, this is not a standalone but I promise it is well worth your while to start at book one. Jake and Raven continue the up and down pattern in their relationship that is sure to drive you crazy and leave you turning the pages.of this book to see what happens next. As much as I could not wait to get to the end.......it broke my heart to read the last page and know I was back to waiting for the next book. I cannot wait to read more of this series. If you are looking for an exciting series, has a dark and twisty side with some very in depth characters, this could be for you. Enjoy!

Hold on to your seat you are in for quite a ride! This is not a stand-alone, you must read from the beginning of the series in order for everything to make sense. The plot thickens in this book where we are back to Raven and Jakes POV. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but not long into the book I was wanting to shout at it - ‘how could you!!!’ However the roller coaster ride went up again, more background is uncovered and what a finisher - totally intrigued, can’t wait to hear what happens in the next book. This is an awesome series, I highly recommend it!

I want more!! This is intense and wild and wonderfully woven together. I hope at the end of the series she makes this in box set so you can read it all at once and not lose the intensity and complexity of the story.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Jayla Kane; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

This was an intense paranormal love story about second chances, and missed opportunities.
This was a great heart pounding read. The story was very well written with great characters. The story drew me in and I had it finished in one sitting. I would highly recommend this read.

I normally hate duets, trilogies, or cliff-hanger type books but I felt invested in the outcome from the very first page of book 1.
It was like these were real people and this situation could be real.

Great character development, steamy sex scenes and twists and turns to be able to sink into the book.

This paranormal book 4 of the Legends of the Ashwood Institute Series is a well-developed story with well-crafted characters that have great chemistry. This is my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I will be buying the first 3 books to catch up on the series. A must read
