Mythical creatures are real, and the world is just finding out.
Badass, snarky heroine. The sexiest demigods this side of Valhalla... You'll find all of this and more in the complete Mortality Bound boxed set.
Over 1500+ pages of magic and mayhem, action and humor to keep you up waaay past your bedtime!
Stop me if you’ve heard this one: Cupid, Hercules and a shapeshifter walk into a bar…
Isabella is a 500-year-old teenage shapeshifter on the run with her boyfriend. She’s being hunted by the world’s elite who will stop at nothing to rip out the knowledge she holds in her head.
And to think, a week ago her biggest problem was finding the number to Dominos.
Our girl did steal the secret DNA map of mythical creatures. Wonder what she’ll do with that?
The combination of what she knows and what she stole might be the key to save her kind from total extinction.
Isabella has a choice to make: run in the hopes of finding a peaceful life for her and her love ... or stop and fight for the once-immortal mythical creatures who now roam our world.
If you like the Dresden Files, Mercy Thompson series or Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you’ll be helplessly addicted to the Mortality Bites series.
*** NOTE: The demigods are definitely sexy (and so are the humans), but this isn’t a reverse harem. This is sassy, fast-paced, action-filled urban fantasy with a hard-fantasy twist.
Strap yourself in, because this fast-paced series promises one heck of a thrill ride. Start reading today!
This box set contains all five Mortality Bound novels:
1. Fatebound 2. Oathbound 3. Bloodbound 4. Mortality Bound 5. Soulbound PLUS a never seen before novel: The Arc...
The Mortality Bound Series takes place in the GoneGod World... an inspiring and unique setting of myths, magic and mischief. But what is the GoneGod World?
Four years ago, the gods left. All of them. Their last message to humanity was "Thank you for believing in us, but it is not enough. We're leaving. Good luck."
At first no one took them seriously. Until, that is, all the denizens of all the heavens and hells started showing up on people's doorsteps.
I enjoyed the story line but felt there was a lot of repetitiveness throughout individual books as well the series as a whole. I almost gave up reading because of the phase "GoneGod" it was hard for my brain to comprehend and it is used a lot. It threw off the reading flow so much I had to work at skipping over it which also slowed down the reading for but not as much.
A wonderfully believable and immersive world. Excellent, deep characters and character development. Lots of action, well described.
So why the dropped star? As a cellular biologist, the science made me want to hit something. I was willing to roll with the triple helix DNA - magic, amirite? - even though it would absolutely not work at the molecular level - something like plastids would have worked much better and given a lot more interesting options drama wise. Similarly if you have smartphones then you should have nanopore readers, which would make one person/a few million basepairs/5 months a workable problem. Again, though, moving at the speed of plot, I could roll with it. What pissed me off the most, though, was the propagation of the myth of bleach pregnancy testing - that made my teeth clench, since it’s pretty irresponsible.
Lots of other little things, too, that niggled and messed with my mental timeline (e.g. leaded gas has has not been sold in Canada since 1990, which does not pair well with any other timeline clues in this series.). I guess my beef is this: if you’re going for the POV of a Canadian biologist, it might be a good idea to have a Canadian biologist as a beta reader, or even as an initial consultant. There are a large number of us, even if you filter for urban fantasy enthusiasts.
I read the series as individual books so this is my review of the bonus short story/novella called the Arc included in the box set. Generally, the World Army is seen as the bad guys in these stories. But this time, the main character is a soldier in the World Army. He is working as a special agent to recover the contents of the Museum of the Gods. He is working with Lillith and a female orc.
This is obviously intended to be the starting point for another storyline. It should be interesting to see the viewpoint of someone who is usually seen as part of the bad guys as lead. As the saying goes, no one sees themselves as the villain in their own story. But it will be interesting to see how his view of himself and Others potentially change as the stories progress.
Very well thought out world of humans and others. In a world where the Gods have left " the building" There is of course conflict between humans and others, so although there is a fair bit of violence it is tempered with humour and even love.
For sheer entertainment this box set of books is very hard to beat. Very hard to put down. Quite large amounts of magic in a world suddenly populated with creatures and figures from myth.
This particular series started a bit boring for me so it took a bit longer to read them my norm. But, I faithfully trudged on. Holy Hades am I so glad I did. Absolutely couldn't put it down at some points. Gripping story. Although some graphical mishaps it was very enjoyable read. Thank you so much for a HarAss series. I cried at points and belly laughed at others. Sit down with a cup of coffee, tea or cocoa and enjoy the ride.
Pretty good. Great twists and ideas in the fantasy world. However, like the never ending world of politics, I could have done WITHOUT the nod to the political beliefs of the writer. Kind of typical - but mostly people who read fantasy aren’t in it to be reminded whose side of the political picnic party you eat at. Meh. That “sandwich” of political belief left a bad taste in our mouth at the reading club. I wouldn’t seek the author out again.
The story, characters, subplots and locations are just fantastic! The GoneGods World is one great new world to explore, and it will leave you breathless. I just really beg for a much better editor/checker because the numbs of misspellings and other grammatical mistakes draws away from an e,Clement read.
Some of this is so childish I nearly put it down, storyline has been great but the forced humour was to overwhelming.Sometimes you don’t have to please everyone.Could have done with some explaining about what had happened beforehand as we sort of felt it was in the future, but none of it was just decided to put godgone phrase in intermediate passages
The characters were really good but to me the story seemed to drag along. The storyline could have been a little more exciting or racy. The fights were well done, I could actually visualize them.
The series has an excellent blend of mythological characters brought into a modern world. The portrayal of Hercules was a great spin off of a mythical legend and having a Cupid sidekick leant it a great dynamic
This is another series of books in the Gone Gods World only written by a different author than Vance. I definitely noted a difference in the writing style from Vance. I enjoyed the story but I think I prefer Vance.
Interesting storyline and characters. However, the stories were slow. Relationships were underdeveloped and could have been so much more. The books were just ok.
Really enjoyed this series. The modern take on the mythological figures. storyline of romance, love and friendship, plus the chaarter development all add up to an interesting and enjoyable series.
I enjoyed this set, it is different than most books I've read.I thought it was a complete series, but I think I might be wrong. Looking for more from this author
Wasn’t sure at first whether I was going to like this Series.. as I don’t know if I missed a prequel =( . But I persevered and was truly happy to. So many Twists to the stories and new beings introduced to me as well as some Original Gods and Heroes. Looking forward to the next one =)
