But nothing’s sweeter than the taste of a submissive woman--one who wants revenge.
She’s smart, brazen, fearless when she ought not to be.

But the creatures who killed her sister want to take her from me.
I won't allow it.

Only by me.
Forever.

Merris and Aleron's story was a nice one and it's connected to the previous books of the Bad Boy Alphas series. Both Lucious and Garrett make an appearance! My only complain is that due to the fact that this book is written by a different author, there are some minor details that have been changed. In this book, vampires have a reflection, in the previous book "Alpha Blood" , Selene wasn't able to apply her lipstick because she wasn't able to see her reflection in the mirror. This is something that bugged me while reading the book because everything happens in the same universe, thus the ⭐⭐⭐⭐. Also, there was no explanation or anything related to the visions Merris had, another drawback...

P.S. The book doesn't have a HEA, it's more a HFN ending...

I’m so disappointed in this one, especially since the setup sounded promising. Merris’s twin sister gets murdered, and she’s psychic, so she ends up seeing flashes of the man involved, which leads her straight to a shady underground club. He’s mysterious, broody, obviously dangerous.

But the execution? Way too much rambling from him about his tragic past, and none of it actually made me care. I didn’t feel anything for either of them, and the connection between them just never landed for me. It’s hard to enjoy anything when the characters feel flat, especially in a story that’s supposed to hinge on this deep, emotional (and physical) bond.

The pacing was all over the place too. It takes forever to unravel the mystery around her sister’s death, and by the time anything really happens, the story just... ends. Abruptly. Like someone just stopped mid-scene and forgot to write the rest. I actually checked if this was part one of a duet because it didn’t feel finished, but nope, that’s it.

Also… the setting’s a BDSM club, but the spice was super underwhelming. The scenes felt more like placeholders than anything that actually added to the story or showed real chemistry. If you’re gonna use that backdrop, give it some weight or at least make it interesting.

This could’ve been intriguing, but it ended up feeling both emotionally flat and frustratingly empty. Would’ve been fine if I had connected to the characters even a little, but sadly, I didn’t.

*New to me author

I freaking loved this story! I have never read Maren Smith before, but I will be correcting that real soon. Her Vampire Master is a spin-off to Renee Rose and Lee Savino's Bad Boy Alpha series (which you don't have to read, but I highly recommend you just because it is terrific!).

Merris is on the hunt for her twin sister's murder, and she knows just who it is, Aleron. Merris is bound to find out why he would kill her sweet but adventurous sister. When Merris shows up at Club Toxic- Lucius’ club, some weird things are going on which she is willing to overlook if she can get the truth out of him.

Aleron has been alive for nine hundred years and has given up being in love; he knows that he will forever be alone. But when he meets Merris, he knows something is different. But will he lose her just when he has found her?

This book is a beautiful start to the beginning of a new series Midnight Doms.

After Crimson Debt being a good read that was completely let down (read: destroyed) by one character I wanted to try some other vampire steamy romances because realistically it is a genre that appeals to me - and like I am loving shifter steamy romances so why not vampires.

So I thought I would try Her Vampire Master because when it comes to steamy reads I do have to admit to a preference for spanking /BDSM/DD-LG formats so I thought this might hit the right notes for me.

But alas it wasn't to be. It was an ok read but not one that made me want to read more in this genre and not a story that I would go back to again or continue with this series.

3 stars and a mildly disappointed Lo. Third times the charm right!

From Club Toxic that we read about in the Bad Boy Alphas Merris goes looking for the person that murdered her twin sister. Aleron is who she sees in her visions of the night of her sister's murder so she starts her search with him. Aleron is a vampire as Merris will soon find out. Although Aleron says he never plays with a woman twice, he is drawn to Merris and an attempt on her life means he must now protect her until they can discover the real killer as they avoid being killed themselves. There is a lot of adventure and hot, kinky sex as they try to unravel the mystery and danger around Merris's sister's murder. We do get to see other people from the Bad Boy Alphas series and we get a HEA after all the drama, thank goodness. I enjoyed this story from Maren Smith, it's a bit different than I am used to from her, but good none the less. Looking forward to more of the Midnight Doms Series.

Was really indecisive about either giving it a 2 or 3 stars.
Unfortunately in the end I decided to give it 2 stars.
Despite the rough start, where we had to read about the h having flashbacks of the H fondling her sister(there was also ow from the sisters pov and her own pov but i found those didn’t really annoy me since the H is 900 years old and hadn’t met her yet), I just found the whole sister thing a bit yucky, not to mention the part where the H is giving her a play by play of everything they did (bc our h wanted answers)
After the book started getting better and more interesting, I started enjoying it a lot more and forgetting about dnfing however I found the whole resolution for the sister murder to be kind off underwhelming.
Lastly this may be more of a personal preference but whenever I’m reading a romance where one half is immortal and the other isn’t, I like it to be resolved in either the immortal one gives up the immortality and they grow old together or the preferable option (IMO) they both get immortal.
In this one however we have the H alluding to them leaving the state and staying with the h until she grows old and eventually dies to then watching the sun rise on her grave.
I understand where the H was coming from since so many of the vampires ended up hating their sires and killing them and he didn’t want to watch their love turn into something nasty but regardless I still didn’t like and it was what eventually made me not turn into a 3 stars.

Meh

Or sure I liked it or not. There seemed like there were way too many unanswered questions. It was left all up in the air and ended very abruptly.

Her VM with spoilers to justify

Gonna be honest, this book it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t good, it was just meh. I gave it such a low score because there were several things introduced into this book that were never explained and it irritated the hell out of me so much so I am actually borderline considering leaving a one star. Actually. I’m doing it. This is a one star book. Female lead runs off to a vampire club to find out what happened to her sister that was murdered that she got visions of. First of all, the author doesn’t throughly delve into her visions or even discuss her visions between the female lead and male lead. He had a moment where he thought she was psychic or whatever but it’s just hard to believe they’d never have a full on conversation about it. That was annoying. So female lead runs into the male lead, who she thought killed her sister and in order to get answers him and her play a game. Of course the game is sexual in nature and she looses. So let’s talk about that... she’s so hard up wanting answers that she willfully engages in BDSM-like play with her sister’s possible killer? How does that make any freaking sense. Female lead literally is a dumb ass. So they find out the vampire that killed her sis is gunning for the major position the vampire king is in charge of. Vampire king finds out. Then, because his mate is a wolf shifter vampire (I guess that can be a thing🤷‍♀️🧐🙄??) shifters are involved because the bad guy killed one of the shifters grandmothers, and they end up hunting the bad guy. Which happens so freaking quickly in the last few pages of the book that nothing is detailed it’s literally less than a paragraph of info. The king, his mate, the male and female lead wake up from their rest and the heads of the vampires are on the gate spokes as a warning.... then the male and female lead decide to go on the run and it ends there. I repeat: It. Ends. There. There is no detailing or anything just an exchange of I love yous and him telling the king he’s going to keep her human. Then he tells her he’ll take her anywhere and she can work on her art... this book is all over the place with so many ideas brought up with no reason or follow through. Absolutely hate this. There was so much potential and it just took a complete dump. How was this so highly rated???

Her Vampire Master is the first book in the Vampire Doms series, a spin off of the Bad Boy Alpha Series. Merris is on the hunt to find her sister’s murderer, and she is lead into the dark and tempting arms of Aleron. Aleron is captivated by the puzzle of Merris, but when answers are found and the night is over, will they go their separate ways?

Oh. My. Goodness! This book was so fabulous and such an amazing start to this multi-author spin off! Merris and Aleron completely captivated me, stole my attention, and I did not want to stop reading this book! Merris was the perfect combination between innocent and determined, vulnerable and a fierce protector, with a passion she never realized before. Plus I loved some of her abilities and how they played into the storyline! Aleron was cool and detached at times, but I loved his slow slide into feeling more and finding that love he would do anything for. I loved their connection and passion and I really enjoyed their physical journey as much as their journey to find answers. I loved seeing some familiar faces from previous books, but this still stands well on its own. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this series and this author!

Aleron and Merris

I enjoyed reading this book. It’s a fast paced storyline with interesting characters. The main female character is looking for some clues regarding a death. This main male character is a handsome hundred of years vampire.
This is an action packed story filled with some love scenes and of course romance. The ending surprised me. I still recommend this book for lovers of vampire stories.

Loved it

I loved this book although I was a little annoyed by the ending I felt it was more of a HFN instead of HEA I won't mind another book or a short story about this couple but beside that I adored the hero and heroine and can't wait for the second book

I'm really enjoying this series. Each book is written by a different author. I have read other books by Maren Smith which I enjoyed and this one is no exception. I loved it!

Merris is looking into her sister's death. She has been having dreams about the man that she thinks killed her. She goes to the club where Aleron is to try and find out more about him and if he did, in fact, kill her sister. She and Aleron (after she figures out it wasn't him) work together to try and find out what happened to her sister.

This book has everything...romance, mystery and suspense. I'm definitely going to read the next one in this series.

Starting off the year with a bang.
And other than scenes of mindless banging, this book doesn't have much to offer.
I thought the plot (hehe what plot) was a bit all over the place, and it was cheesy and dramatic in the worst ways.
It had so many different things thrown in and not enough pages to actually pay attention to the repercussions. There wasn't really any development between the characters relationship, it was very instalove (more like instalust). So we are supposed to forget her dead sister, the grief, the memory loss, the whole over the top villains who just happen to kill everyone because why not? Oh and guess what, spoiler alert, the wolves clean up the vampire mess.
For such a short book, why try so hard? It's OK to have a book without some big grand dramatic plot. It's OK to have a book based on relationship development instead of circumstantial tension leading to impulsive sex. I don't understand why the author tried so hard. She clearly knows how to write BDSM, but that was overshadowed by all the other nonsense thrown in.
So was this book a total mess? Yes.
Was I still into the steamy scenes? Yes.
Will I read more of this series? No.
For a paranormal romance, I had to suspend my disbelief a lot, and I'm not talking about vampires or shifters here.

A delightful story of an infectious attraction between a vampire Dom and his feisty human female sub. Aleron is over 100 years old and has lived through many moments in time. He has learned not to get attached because at the end you always stand on your own and being attached can be a weakness. Merris is a determined feisty young woman who is out to solve the mystery behind her sister's murder. She has insight as to who and what was happening to her twin sister the night of her death and all her visions lead to Club Toxi and Aleron. Convinced that he is guilty or at the very least involved in her sister's death, Merris enters an unknown world where she can lose herself to desire. Aleron sees Merris as a puzzle to solve and is intrigued by her. He never plays with the same person twice, but it seems his rules are about to be broken. When Merris and her prying gets her into hot waters, Aleron finds himself throwing all care to wind and exposing himself and his newfound weakness to those who might pose great danger. This was a fun story that slowly builds to a fantastic crescendo. It was great to see a few key characters from the first book mentioned in this book. I cant wait to read the next one!

Merris is searching for Aleron, who she believes is her twin sisters killer when she stumbles into a world of paranormal existence she never knew existed.
Aleron, a 900 year old vampire is instantly intrigued by this innocent woman. To convince her he’s innocent of her sisters murder he introduces her into the belly of Club Toxic a BDSM club where vampires feed on unsuspecting humans.
When their worlds collide and the true killer starts to hunt Merris, Aleron is determined to keep her safe and alive.
Her Vampires Master is the first Maren Smith book I’ve read and I was impressed with her writing style and the general storyline.
If I had to critique this book for anything it was the anti-climatic way the killer was stopped. Throughout 92% of the book we’d had the build up and anarchy of an elusive killer who will stop at nothing to reach Merris and kill her with no motive (other than she looks like her sister). Then at 94% it was all over, and the book wrapped up. It felt like Smith reached her word count and just had to finish the book. Up until then I really enjoyed it.

Absolutely LOVED this vampire romance!

Couldn't put this book down, read it in one setting. Aleron is everything a dark, brooding, sexy vampire should be. A dom who moves from one woman to the next, nothing more than simple meals. When he meets his Merris, he's completely floored by his attraction, desires, and fierce protectiveness. She stirs something in him long forgotten.

Merris is trying to find the vampire who killed her sister. She can't stop the visions of a dark and sexy vampire who plays at seduction and lives his life without a moral compass. When danger strikes and she's almost killed, Aleron comes to her rescue and it isn't long before she realizes he's nothing like she originally thought.

Explosive passion, lies, dangerous foes, and an uncertain future thrust the two together. Their chemistry is real and a real treat in the genre. Writing is the highest quality. An outstanding 5 stars!!!

A amazing book about Aleron who is a vampire and who has not fallen in love before.
He meets Merris who is a human and believes he killed her sister.
They are instantly attracted to each other but Merris tries to keep it to herself.
This story has vampires and shape shifters, if you love these, then you will love this book.
Aleron falls in love with Merris and will do all he can to keep her save in a supernatural world.

I love how Merris is so fearless and wants to find out what happens to her sister. She even takes on a vampire.
I loved this book and hope you do too :)

Merris calls Alleron her master and craves his touch so much and he gives her such pleasure.

This is a great story. I couldn’t put it down. I loved every minute of it. The interactions between characters were great.

Merris believes she knows who kill her twin sister. She goes to confront him but things don’t go as plan. She was separated from her sister when their parents died but she had a connection with her to know how she was doing. She meets Aleron not realizing that there is more to him than meets the eye. There is a connection between them that they decide to explore. Will they discover something about themselves?

Merris is hunting for her twin sister's killer. She believes it to be a man named Aleron and shows up at Club Toxic to get answers. Aleron is a nine hundred year old vampire and has accepted that he will have a life alone with no mate. Merris changes all of that as she is different from the moment Aleron meets her. The problem is will the creatures that murdered Merris sister get to her before Aleron can save her? A good start to the series.

Soulmates

Merris is on a mission to find answers and justice for her loss. Her quest will bring her into a world of BDSM, vampires, shifters, drugs and murder.
Merris the hunter becomes the hunted, for pleasure, blood, revenge and to silence her.
Aleron was her target, but he becomes, seducer, protector, lover and loved.
Action, heat, chemistry, humor, mystery, murder, mayhem, revenge and "undying" love makes this a must read addition/offshoot to the Alpha world series.

Vampire romance has always intrigued me but it has to be written just right. Maren Smith has done that and more. The first book in a spin off of Lee Savino and Renee Rose's Alpha series is wonderful. I just couldn't put the book down and literally read it in one afternoon. The world building is.......well, out of this world. You can feel the emotions of the characters and connect with them. All I can say is that I'm ready for the next book in this series!!!!

A vampire romance with a dark side. Merris wants one thing and that is to find the man who killed her twin sister. This will lead her to a whole new world where a vampire will be the one to master her. But the danger will only escalate as the mystery of her sister’s death isn’t an easy one to solve. Things do heat up but Merris wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, I liked this story and I liked the characters. I was happy with Merris's personality and how she was not a party girl looking for a good time. She was quite the introvert, but was willing to step out of her comfort zone to find answers to her sister's murder. I loved how she had a sense of humor and was quite demur. Aleron was a fun character as well. He's very typical of what you would expect from a hundreds year old vampire, but he had a fun side to him as well. Really, these two did work for me. But my problem lies with just how fast they fall in love with each other. It couldn't have been more than only a couple of days and already they're professing it. I was also surprised with how fast and easily Merris gives herself over to Aleron. Especially considering she wholehearted believes he killed her sister. I get that she was curious about things, but that seemed a bit of a stretch.

Like I said, the story itself was really good. Merris's sister was murdered and she keeps having the same dream of that night over and over from her sister's prospective. And in that dream she always sees the same guy, Aleron. So she's convinced he's the killer. Going to the last place she knew her sister was with him, Merris finds herself in way over her head when she not only finds Aleron but even confronts him. Well, sort of anyway. These two make a deal, both have a little fun, and Aleron sends her on her way after wiping her memory of him. But things are about to get way more complicated.

Aleron finds himself becoming Merris's protector when she finds herself the target of some unknown assailant as well as now the main suspect in a mass murder these same guys committed. From there the story progresses well with these two trying to figure out what's going on and how to keep Merris free and safe. It all ends up with these two making their way to that area's vampire king's place. And that's where the story sort of peters out. First of all, what happens to them there is remarkably unbelievable all things considered. But then after information is shared, things are over just as abruptly as they began and these two didn't even have anything to do with it. The very ending itself was pretty meh, with it not seeming like a very good conclusion to me either. But still. All in all, I did enjoy this.

A Tribute to Renee Rose and Lee Savino

I am always a bit wary of reading books by different authors but set in the same world. You never know what you will get - some are a tribute to the original author’s books and others manage to ruin the world. This book definitely falls into the first category. Maren Smith has taken the Bad Boy Alpha series set in Tucson and added a story that fits seamlessly into this world. You do not have to read that series to enjoy this book, but the experience will be enhanced (the books by Lee Savino and Renee Rose are great!) and you will recognize familiar characters.
The verbal foreplay between the main characters is so hot that it is surprising that the sex and BDSM aspects are limited in the story (although the scenes are very sexy!).
The mystery, danger and romance of the story made this book very entertaining and hard to put down until the end.

I received a free copy of this book for my honest opinion. I depend on reviews just like you and I will never exaggerate my opinion about any book - good or bad.

Girls YouTube Channel – Stacked with Reviews (not this book though!)

I was wandering around looking for smut... with vamps... and I found this. I didn't realise it was #2 in the series, but that didn't really matter to be honest, it stood alone. I persevered with it even though it was a bit slow and a bit jumbled, but I really got quite attached to the pair - the ending was rushed, the 'solution' a bit gung ho but it filled a gap. It did lead me to Maren Smith's other books and I have gone down The Castle series rabbit hole.

Good writer, few issues here and there but not typo related, it was solidly edited, but the story wavered here and there and was rushed, apart from that, filled a gap.

I would have scored this a four, but for several reasons I had to dock it down one.
First, the book was great. It flowed wonderfully.
But, a few things bothered me. This book was over the course of like maybe 3-4 days. I think if they would have spent more time together falling in love would have been more realistic. Second, I feel like the whole book was about finding out what happened to her sister. We found the killer, but I feel like it wasn’t “closed”. So was it just because her sister was on drugs and at the wrong place at the wrong time? Also, I know that this is a series and also can be read as a stand-alone, but I felt like again with the previous book - wham bam thank you ma’am- it’s over. Ok so what happened after the shower scene?!? And - how was she psychic? What becomes of it?!

I kind of found it short.. I mean how the explanation of what happened to Jez was kind of "read between the lines" yet no idea of what really happened , and how come she didn't dream of it while happening?, how the enemy was eliminated (by someone else whom if you didn't read the original series you would have no clue of what is happening here - which I have to say Garrett was more alpha is this one then in his own book or series in that matter, and Lucien was set aside !? ) , and last but not least.. how they left ? why every book in this series sound open-ended by them leaving !!
I understand that it is a spin off and that each book is written by someone different but it was like we are only getting the old crew involved to show them (yet i definitely enjoyed seeing them) , on top we are under a word count so we will cut it short for the main story ?
