This book is absolutely incredible! I LOVE how this book opens the eyes of understanding for all walks of life. There are stories, scientific facts, understanding for the counselor and the logical mind alike. Every personality will benefit from learning how to stop the madness of complaining by seeing the value in how. I enjoy the fact that the authors seem to help you stay and "soak" in the learning lessons and compel you to really wait on God to get to the deep matters. I believe the Wahls' are "soul fitness trainers". This book will be read over and over in my home and needs to be turned into a small group study.
Wow! This book is overflowing with insight and truth on where complaining/criticism come from, why we complain/criticize, the effects of complaining/criticism and how to overcome it. There is absolutely no way you can remain the same once Holy Spirit gives you revelation and you start to apply the practical steps the challenge uncovers. With new awareness and tools to live this out, you are set up to succeed!
I received an advance reader copy of this book. I am under no obligation to review the book. All opinions are my own.
In our culture today, it is so very easy to be unhappy. There is so much negativity and plenty to complain about that it has become almost a natural unplanned response. But is that really what God has for you? Is that really what God wants to hear is grumbling all day long? Bill and Kim Wahl challenge you to live the next 7 days without complaining, grumbling, and criticizing. And, in doing so, you will find joy and peace that will change your perspective and move you closer to God. This is a great tool and a much-needed book for today's times. Thank you Bill and Kim for this wonderful book!
This book will change the way you think and the way you act. The amount of “ah-hah” moments is uncountable! My lifestyle and outlook on life has been changed from the insight in this book. This book would be wonderful for any individual to go through! I believe it would thrive so well in a group book club setting or bible study setting. I’d recommend pastoral staffs to go through it together and implement it into your culture! It’s absolutely life changing and I can’t recommend it enough.
This book was an unexpected treasure. After only reading a few chapters, I became more aware of how criticism, complaining, and negativity can creep into my daily life. I started noticing bad habits and patterns of behavior. Each chapter delivered great insight and practical suggestions and yet left me wanting to read further and learn more. I highly recommend it.
Do you complain? When you read that did you think “Not me. I don’t complain”? Do you criticize? Argue? Are you opinionated? Yeah, me neither...or so I thought...until I read The Complaining Cure. Bill and Kim Wahl nailed it in their new book, The Complaining Cure. Although the title only mentions complaining, this book deals with criticizing, arguing and opinions. All lethal to relationships which in turn hinders our relationship with God. Don’t get discouraged or bogged down with all that because there is hope for you and for me! I have completed the Complaining Challenge and the changes I see already are so encouraging. I’m on my way to abundant joy! Let me share some of the golden nuggets I found in the book. Only some though, you should read it for yourself to find them all. “Words have an impact that reverberates within the soul.” Most of us have heard the scripture regarding the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21), Bill and Kim explain, using examples and scripture, how our words have a creative force behind them. Chapter two blew my mind. I found it very educational and interesting. They use important words like neurons and neuroplasticity to show the imprint words have on us physically. Another section I found interesting and useful was about strongholds. I guess I have never gave much thought about them, but with what they shared I had an aha moment. While reading the book I was excited for the finale, The Complaining Challenge, but before I got there, chapter seven sealed the deal! Chapter seven is titled Finding Abundant Joy. Who isn’t looking for abundant joy? It brought me hope and if I hadn’t already decided that this book was just what I needed, this chapter did it for me. To me it said help is on the way and the final outcome will be amazing! “Joy is sharing an attitude that celebrates God’s character.” So when you finish reading The Complaining Cure, the Complaining Challenge begins. This is where we live what we read. They prepare you for the challenge, tell you what tools you will need and encourage you on the journey. The daily study is phenomenal! I have been convicted, wept and repented. The scriptures Holy Spirit gave Bill and Kim wore me out. I've read most of them before, but at this time and with the challenge and study work, it's been an eye opener and heart piercing. It’s been well worth it all. I may not be there yet, but I am on my way and you can be too. Don’t just take my word for it. Read The Complaining Cure and find out for yourself. I read an advanced copy of this book.
I had the privilege of reading this book just in time for Thanksgiving! When complaining and grumbling is replaced with praise and gratitude for all God IS doing (even in the midst of tragedy) the results are pure joy. Bill and Kim Wahl do such an excellent job using Biblical examples of how to cure our complaining tendencies. The steps are clear throughout the book on how we can take these negative thoughts and criticisms and turn them into something that will glorify God. There will be times that hardships come, and the book is clear on how to even handle those. I walk away ready to put these things into practice just in time for Thanksgiving. We live in such a grumbling culture and it infiltrates even our family gatherings. But this year, I pray that ends in my home. And with the wisdom expressed throughout this book, I feel I'm equipped with what I need to succeed. The Complaining Cure is Biblical. It's practical. It's been tested by the authors themselves, and from what I'm seeing in my own life, it's working. It takes discipline and a commitment to bringing God glory, but it's definitely a doable task that will lead to a better lifestyle. The study at the end of the book is life-changing. Such a great step by step process that will take you through a week (or more if you need to slow it down a bit... or redo it like I did!) of indepth study, reflection, and application. We all know complaining and playing the grumbling critic isn't the best way. But the way the book explains the science and history behind it, it's brought to light in a new way... a way that makes us want to change. Great book, and worth the effort to put into practice. I received an advanced copy of this book (and read it twice!)
The Complaining Cure was the perfect read to meditate upon throughout the year 2020. Bill & Kim both give biblical and practical tools to change your complaints and grumbles into thanksgiving. The Complaining Cure helps you, "Do everything without grumbling and arguing, so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world". (Philippians 2:14-15 CSB) This is a book you can read over and over and get something new each time you read it. If you are feeling the weight of life, The Complaining Cure is an impactful book to help shift your perspective from your circumstances to the unchanging faithfulness & relentless love of God.
