This is an interesting story with very good characters. I would have liked more backstory as to why Odelia was trained to fight.
I also saw quite a few issues and errors in the first few chapters, as well as in the rest of the book.

One that many men pined for. Should be 'one that for many men had pined'

"...when they were allowed to."
"It was plain and very different from the usual style of ruffles and ribbons that she had once been accustomed to." Sentences should not end in the preposition 'to'. Not only is is incorrect to end sentences with prepositions, the 'to' is completely unnecessary.

Nothing that had borne fruits. should be 'fruit', singular. Not plural

When she had finally come to after denial had passed and acceptance had dawned, she had finally inquired and her maid had told her her Aunt was responsible for them. She would hold her dear to her heart- always.

'Finally' is redundant

It had been two months since a messenger rode into Emmelstone Manor like a storm was on his tail. His urgency had worried everyone, but the moment Odelia had laid her eyes upon his face, fear had ceased her heart.
She had known instantly. How she had, remained a mystery to date. Yet, she had felt it in her heart, and she had known why a chill had befallen her all day.
Leah was quick to drape her cloak around her. Odelia welcomed the warmth it brought and, with her fingers, gathered the thick velvet closer around her. Yet, the chill remained in her bones, and something nagged at her heart.
Was it a bad omen? A sign of something terrible to come? What more could happen? She had already lost the people dearest to her heart. Too much unnecessary repetition. These bits need to be reworked.
She was no naivete. What does this sentence even mean?

And at such a time like this when she was not done mourning her dead? 'Done' should be finished or through. She is not a roast or a meat loaf.
“Ahh… Alas, I was not, and wishful thinking never did any man any good. ‘Tis only to put a damper on his mood.
Sentence needs to end with quotation marks.

"noble thing to do" is repeated excessively, throughout the book. Too repetitious.

The word "great" is not correctly used in most of the book. It is used as American slang. I think I only saw two places where it could be considered to have been used properly, as in above the normal or average. It is used MUCH too often.
"Her head, it ached. It ached so bad..." "Bad" should be "badly". Adverbs are important.

This is not a bad story. The characters are well drawn, the mystery plausible, the flow good and the ending nicely written.
HOWEVER, there are errors and redundancy all through the novel. I have pages and pages of notes and corrections. I think this book needs to go through a major edit before it is released and you are asking people to spend their money on it.

One chapter into this story I love Lady Odelia, and only have compassion for her. Her parents, Duke and Duchess of Ambersham have perished.
Odelia is all alone now, overwhelmed by her grief. Awakened in the night she is chased from her home, and forced to plunge off a cliff to escape from her captors.
Captain Arnold Reynes has a past that haunts him. Owns a ship named, The Sea Rose. Captain Arnold and Odelia meet in an unusual way.
Odelia is found washed a shore, with no memory where abouts unknown.
Spending time in close quarters on his ship,Captain Arnold and Odelia have become accustomed to each others company.
She is grateful for all his help. Odelia convinces Captain Arnold to return to his family to resolve their differences,
but Odelia still has no recollection of her own.
A well written delightful romantic story, with twists of suspense, deceit and forgiveness.
Fanny Finch writes from her heart with this storys heroine.

I found it difficult to put this book down. The Action began right at the beginning of the story and did not end. Scene after scene kept me glued to each page as it described what people were saying, what they were doing, how they were dressed, what the surroundings looked like, even the sight and smell could be imagined. The author did an incredible job with imagery. I felt I was right there with the characters whether by land or by sea. The characters were excellent. Their personalities shined throughout the telling of the story. The secondary characters were just as impressive. The villain was depicted as a mad man walking about as a gentleman. I especially enjoyed the extended epilogue. It added a nice clean finishing touch to the story. A must read. You will not be bored or disappointed. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Story!! Lady Odelia lost her parents. Then she was kidnapped. She manages to escape but ends up in the sea and washes up on a beach. Captain Arnold and his crew find her. She has lost her memory. Who is she? Where does she live? Is she married? Does she have a family? What has happened to her? This story has everything you could possibly ask for. Danger, evil, turmoil, drama, romance, battles, mystery, intrigue, distress, suspense, adventure, trust, love and forgiveness. Twists that will keep you reading right to the end. Characters are strong and fleshed out. Plot is well thought out and story is well written. I recommend it.

She has lost everything but found love…

Lady Odelia has lost everything she holds dear; her family, her home, and her memories. She would have lost her life if not for the timely intervention of Arnold Reynes, captain of the Sea Rose. Now, with the help of Arnold and his crew, she will either overcome treachery and regain a place in her old life or build a new one.

This story has romance, battles, danger, and mystery; everything I love in a historical romance. Fanny Finch always delivers. I especially liked the extended epilogue offered at the end of the book, which gives readers a glimpse into the future of the character’s lives.

ONE EXPLOSIVE TREAT!!!
Intensely captivating! Fanny hits the motherload with this mesmerizing, engaging, heart pounding, pulse racing, page flipping dynamo. A tightly spinning vortex of vexing circumstances and a bevy of unanticipated events launch this baby into a tailspin with surprising impacts. The drama, uncertainty, intrigue, danger and suspense keep you riveted on a razors edge. Toss in turmoil and distress and you have one explosive adventure. Pushing through the trials and tribulations keeping pace with a slew of twists and turns along with bumps and bruises fuse this baby together sleek, shiny and tight. The realism and authenticity of the characters as their on point personalities blend and flow along with the graphically detailed scenes thrust this baby to a whole new level. Remarkable job Fanny, thanks for sharing this baby with us.

story of Odelia is wonderfully written. I had to stay up all night to finish once I started reading. i felt for when fighting through the loss of her parents. Then her kidnapping and all the adversity she had to go through.

Then comes Arnold to save her from death. With her no memory of who she was and how he helped her and watching how they were falling in love.

What is to happen when she remembers who she is and is she spoken for? Can their newfound love make it through? Can she help Arnold to forgive himself for his past and reunite supine his family? You will have to read to find out.

I really like this author and can’t wait to read more from her.

Awesome read.

Captain Arnold was looking through his spyglass when he spied a woman that looked dead in the Spanish shores.

Duchess Odelia lost her parents a year ago, while visiting their graveyard she was kidnapped and taken on a boat to be delivered to a “master”.

She was trying to escape when she nearly got drown and washed ashore to be rescued by Arnold only for her to end up with her memory loss.

Fanny weaves an intricate storyline with strong characters. She never disappoints.

But is she single, married, engaged? She can't recall! When they return to England and begin the search for her loved ones, danger again surfaces for Odelia...

Strong characters. The story was very emotional for me(with tears), although the story is off such a nature that one cannot put the book down because off the suspense to know that there must be a happy ending. Worth reading if one does not mind the occasional sadness.

What goes around comes around

This is a great change of pace for lovers of Regency Romances. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Odelia was mourning the death of her parents. Having no siblings, she was now alone to fight off the advances of a very determined Duke. He had gambled away his father's fortune and had been disinherited so he was intent on marrying her to grab her dowry.

Odelia was found unconscious having washed up on a Spanish shore. She finally awoke on a ship with no memory of how she got to Spain or even what her name was. The Captain of the ship, Arnold who was a Duke himself, did his best to assure her of her safety and would see her back to England to her family. They were asea for quite some time because he had been enroute to Italy escorting another ship, before going back to England.

During several weeks sailing they became friends and fell in love each not telling the other their hearts desire. Will Odelia recover her memories? Will she be tricked into thinking she's already married? Will Captain Arnold be able to rescue her yet again? Many twists to the story.

There is an extended epilogue that takes place 20 years later which was perfect.

Lady Ophelia is devastated at the loss of her loving parents! While visiting their graves she is kidnapped and drugged! When she finally escapes she falls off a cliff in Spain and is thought to be dead!
Captain Arnold Reyes is sailing with his crew around the coast of Spain when he something shiny catches his ey along the show below some steep cliffs. Him and his men row out to see what it is when they discover it’s an unconscious woman. They take her back to their ship! When she finally regains consciousness they discover she has lost her memory. This is when the story truly begins! She slowly starts to remember she was kidnapped. She is truly a gift to Arnold and he soon falls in love with her.
This book had plenty of drama, mystery and action. I loved the characters and the way everything was described in such detail that you could picture yourself being right there. There was non stop roller coaster of emotions! This book was better than I could hope. I highly recommend this book!

A sweet, sappy, clean love story with a slow burn romance and slow moving plot. The premise of the story was very interesting but it kinda took awhile to get to the good parts then it moved almost too quickly and then slowed down again. The twists were almost too predictable and contrived. I enjoyed some of the characters but wanted to get to know them better. For instance the doctor was just mentioned as a good doctor but not much else except his name. I would like to have known a little more of his personality, background and experiences. I wanted to really like this story but it kinda fell short of the five star rating. I would give it a three and a half stars but rounded it up to four because of the romance between the H and h.

4.5 stars! There is nothing I love more than a romance that is set on the high seas. This book was so good. I loved the main character even though she lost her memory (on the back cover) she was still strong and wasn’t afraid to figure out why she lost it in the first place. The captain of the ship was so nice and a true gentleman and although I like my pirate/ ship captains to be brudish it was refreshing to read one who was a gentleman! I loved this book! Highly recommend if you like romance, books set on the high seas ,family and books that have the main characters who rediscover who they are.

Lost at Sea

A young woman was found washed on a beach. It was obvious that she was of the upper class because of the way she carried herself and her gentle manner with others.

Captain Arnold Reynes had much experience as Captain of a ship, but finding a beautiful young woman was a real surprise. Odelia seemed to be close to her name so that is what they began to call her. She was unsure where she had come from, but her speech sounded like that of an Englishwoman, so when the ship docked England some time later, the captain began his search for the family of Odelia.

Read this book so you can learn her real story.

The writing was excellent and definitely kept your attention. You kept waiting for more. The author uses a nice smooth style and her characters are heartwarming and so lifelike. I highly recommend this novel that can be read by all.
