This book for the ages, as powerful as Dale Carnegie’s iconic How to Win Friends & Influence People , is a modern self-help guide that will be hard to put down. Cody Lowry will encourage you to think positively, try harder, have fun, and “schmooze” your way to a better life.
Schmoozing is a Yiddish term that refers to the act of chatting, socializing, or building relationships with others, often in a professional or business setting. Schmoozing is a social skill that helps in opening doors that would have been closed. For some of us, the art of schmoozing does not come easily. Cody Lowry, an expert in the art of schmoozing, uses his book, Schmooze: What They Should Teach at Harvard Business School, to teach readers how to be great in schmoozing.
According to Cody Lowry, schmoozing is a way of life. It is about thinking outside the box, having fun, developing a sense of humor, and using that humor to enrich the lives of others. As an expert in schmoozing, he uses his experiences to explain the concept of schmoozing. He shares the importance of a smile, chutzpah, thinking big, the advantages of schmoozing, and lots more.
This is an informative book. Every chapter contains rich lessons. It is packed with tips and insights to aid in the understanding of schmoozing. Lowry ensures that readers absorb the vast information it contains and also find it applicable to their own lives. I love that Lowry uses personal examples. He shares stories from his own life, illustrating that schmoozing is both advantageous and informative. This also fosters a connection between the author and the reader. It makes the book more relatable.
From the title of the book, you would think that this book would be serious and perhaps boring, but as I began to read, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Lowry's writing style is anything but dull. He turned the book into a fun and exciting guide. With his humor, he makes the art of schmoozing feel enjoyable and understandable. I love how Lowry is able to balance humor and insight. The writing is engaging and also entertaining. His voice is also warm, friendly, and encouraging. It feels like we are having a conversation with a friend or mentor.
I love the inclusion of quotes at the beginning of each chapter. They introduce the topic in that section and set the tone for the reader's journey. These quotes also inspire a deeper reflection. I also love the illustration; they add an element of fun. The illustrations are clever and humorous, and they help to break the ice. I love how the illustrations reflect the theme and content of each chapter. They also add visual interest and appeal.
This is an insightful book with a great deal of tips and advice. There was nothing to dislike. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I found just one error. This book is a must-read for anyone looking to improve their schmoozing skills.
