I gave up. Couple chapters in and I really really wanted it to be good but it reads like something I would have written as a teenager. "I want my life to be EPIC", er...okay. I found the author to be superficial, and maybe that's just the writing style, but she's just not someone I can relate to. And as a sort of side note, please, please don't follow this woman's financial advice. She doesn't talk about finances a lot (in the first few chapters) but every so often she'll throw in a sentence about cashing in 401ks, or not worrying about where the money will come from and I cringe.
“You’ve waited your whole life to be a star. Permission granted.”
What I enjoyed:
I really enjoyed the authors encouragement that you can have “both.” You could be a mom and still have your dream career. You can get your education and start a business. You can work and travel. I thought the overall attitude was great. There are a lot of limiting beliefs imposed upon women from a young age and this book makes you look right at them.
“You have a stunning, inspiring, and meaningful role to play on this planet and in this lifetime. ”
The author outlines archetypes which describe how your limiting beliefs show up in life and then at the end of the chapter gives you step by step actions. She also provides examples of her own and other people’s success stories.
“Perhaps you never knew that as a Queen, your calendar could sparkle with pleasurable projects and appointments with delightful people. ”
I thought the book was a very quick and easy read. Topics of discussion revolve around money, leadership, business, growth, love, community, friendship and femininity. It’s about committing to your vision and not letting the shadows or negative archetypes (or princess behavior) rule you.
What I did not like:
”Looking for unconditional love, true security, complete peace, boss-lady confidence, deep belonging, total support clear guidance, and healing powers? God’s your guy. “
1: I want to be as gentle as I can saying this, but I’m not sure if there is any way to, so here we go. I found it ironic that the author wrote a book for Queens then made a statement like this. The Christian perspective turned me off unfortunately. If it works for you then fantastic, I would definitely recommend this book for you! Now, to be completely fair the author said “god” can be used interchangeably. However, just because the author says that, doesn’t mean its how it reads. By assigning god a gender and essentially saying we can get all of the above by looking to HIM defeats the purpose of the authors message. For me, I wish the author would have just stuck with “the universe.” Again, throughout the book the author did say “spirit” or “universe” so don’t let this completely repel you.
2: There were some judgemental statements disguised as inspiration for growth in this book, particularly around the authors hometown and the people there. For the most part, it was all very inspirational. But I didn’t like those type of statements, because everyone is on their own journey and it’s important to be respectful of that. I will say towards the end of the book she did redeem herself by acknowledging her dating musicians was a reflection of her desire to be on stage.
3. Sentences like this: “Price tags are nearly more scandalizing than leaked nudes.” Somebody breaking your trust, or hacking into your computer or phone and exposing you to hurt and/or manipulate you is absolutely not the same or “nearly more” than buying yourself Chanel. Judgement of spending money exists to be sure, but again a breach of trust or absolute attack by exposing someone is not the same. I think some sentences were off-color humor, others a genuine thought. Either way, there were a few sentences like this that I found in poor taste.
Overall I really liked the book and found it very inspirational.
Please note all opinions are my own. I unfortunately find on self-help book reviews if I leave ANY criticism someone inevitably leaves an angry comment. All negative comments will be immediately deleted and not responded to. Thank you!
I LOVE this book. From personal development lessons, funny personal stories, seriously quoteable/tweetable snippets, easy to use prayers, aspirational lifestyle elements, business/leadership/communication tips, relationship tips and boundary settings....the list goes on! I truly felt like this book encompasses it ALL.
This is a must read for all women. Everywhere. In all fields.
This was a fun book to read. I liked its optimistic tone, helpful insights for overcoming mental blocks and the handy list of adversarial archetypes.
That said, a few remarks: 1. In my daughter's words: "If Douglas Adams was writing The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy now, the second ship would've been packed with consultants". 2. Reading that a naturopath was expected to help a patient with Parkinson's disease sent shivers down my spine. Though should not use snake oil for actual maladies. 3. I did some upselling myself when I was a freelance software developer connected to a team. So I could easily see what the author has been doing throughout this narrative :D
Nevertheless, most of the anecdotes from the book were rather entertaining, and could definitely help someone to feel better.
This was a beautiful book. While it uses scripture to support it and not everyone is Christian it was still a good read. I woukd have liked ot if there were quotes from religious texts of many different religions but that is just me. Overall it was a good read.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.
Amazing!!! The Spirit talks and this was the final lesson U needed to reclaiming my authentic healing journey as a Queen and entrepreneur!!! I knew I was a boss but man, this book helps you remember who you are and how to move forward!! It talks and overlaps about Spirit and inner drive and how to be a confrontation queen! It gives legit advice on how to communicate like a graceful forceful Queen. Let yourself shine and read this! Women need other women to help fix their crowns without telling them it was crooked in the first place!
Anecdótico, cargado de juicios personales con una alta carga religiosa y patriarcal sobre lo femenino. Algunos de los tips son interesantes pero es un libro un poco aburrido.
There are lots of exercises to work on yourself. If you want to start journaling this is a great book but she gives you journaling topics for most chapters.
Practical book on changing beliefs and taking action. It's helped me to see all the archetypes that I was allowing myself to be that was not the right energy (Queen) for me. I couldn't really relate to some of the experiences shared, but I could feel the author's enthusiasm and authenticity in her words.
When I'm feeling lost, I always feel like I need to take practical actions to find my way. This book did that for me. I believe it has guided me to find my path once again and I'm grateful for it.
Recommend to those who want to find their power (again) and allow themselves to undo all the past beliefs that have been hammered within since we were young.
I have done a couple online motivational, goal-orientated courses but I struggle to put into practise all that I'm taught. I definitely don't buy self help books and the ones I have borrowed, I've only read a couple chapters! Often I feel that they are too preachy or it doesn't resonate with me. However, there was something different about this book. A friend recommended the audiobook to me and I think that was the best choice ever. There is so much in this book that I feels pertains to me especially in my new capacity as a small business owner. I've even implemented some of the lessons that Gina talks about in this book. After listening to her narrating this book, I want to go and buy a hardcopy so that I can go back to many of the chapters and read them again.
This book is surprisingly captivating despite being a lot of evidence from her own life and no new groundbreaking concepts. I loved the tone and the prayers she had laid out. Her essence comes through the pages.
When I first discovered this book, I truthfully wasn't looking for it. I was browsing the shelves of Barnes & Noble when I found it, and being the only copy there it would have been very easy to miss. But I am so grateful that I decided to take it home with me that day, and I truly recommend to anyone that it is certainly worth the read.
One of my favorite things in the book is the Author's reference to "religion", many other books focus solely on God and Christianity which turns me away because it makes it harder for me to relate. But her interchangeable use of "...God, Spirit, Universe, Source, Infinite Intelligence, and Divine Guidance" made it so much more relatable for someone as myself who typically always says the Universe, or the Divine.
A second favorite, is all the exercises through-out the book. They allow for you to really sit down with yourself and think about what it is you truly want. What is blocking you from getting this? How can you improve or change those things so you can reach your purpose? Because of them I re-read the book and jotted down anything that called out to me to help me work on myself and embrace my inner Queen.
There was so much information, and wonderful things I've learned while reading this and don't doubt that I'll be picking it up to read for a third time. It was so empowering and absolutely one of my favorite!
I grabbed this book at the library because the cover attracted me. It looked like it would be a stupid fru-fru book for lame women who light candles and hate men. (Sorry -- that was my impression.)
It took a little while to get into the meat of the book...and then it took off. I saw most of the women who I know in this book, as Gina DeVee sliced and diced women's self-sabotaging personality traits and tried to encourage the reader to recognize and cast aside the thinking and behavior patterns that are holding them back. She did a good job. I apologize that I thought the book would be lame.
The story about her client who has a basement waterproofing business blew my mind. I implemented Gina's suggestions following that story, and the results were immediate.
The odds are fairly good that you will recognize something about yourself in this book. I hope you are brave enough to address a change, so that you can enjoy the improvement in your life.
👑 Simply L O V E D this book 👑 I have to say that @ginadevee did an amazing job on articulating what it means to be QUEEN!!!- - This book helped me in areas that I wasn’t even aware I needed help with. Hand by hand with her expertise as a psychologist and life coach and with Spirit’s guidance, Gina will take you to reach your “ epic life”. - This book might not be as great for other people as it was for me, but in my experience, I enjoyed this reading very much. I’ve learned how to live as a QUEEN and not just as a simple princess. - - In a world that feels like being “feminine” is weak, you will actually learn that this is precisely what makes you strong!!! - So once again, I’ll recommend this book to you if you dare to go to the next level and challenge yourself to live your epic life!!! 👑 5⭐️/5
Every word of this book resonated deeply with me. In all the archetypes, spiritual vision and practice of life, the examples are simple but no less powerful.
I started this book three times and now that I have finally finished it I see that it has been accompanying me more than in a personal process of self-discovery in the accommodation of learnings and questioning of belief systems that find in the archetype of the queen a real, profound and practical possibility. This book stays deep in my heart.
If you have been discovering the feminine and masculine inner energy, your feminine energy inheritance, becoming aware that you do not know how to activate your creative power and that sometimes you want to control rather than trust your life, I recommend this book for the global, practical and complete vision of how to reconnect and activate your feminine energy, balance it with your masculine energy and get out of all the princess, lack, diminishment and doubt archetypes that we have learned through years of social, cultural, family and other programming.
A lot of the other low raters were put off by the spirituality. For me I was put off by the superficiality of the spirituality, there's a lot more to getting to a place of abundant friendship, love and wealth than Gina Deveee states. I prefer books that go into spirituality in more depth. The path of the spiritual initiate isn't smooth sailing. However, isn't that the trick of the modern lifestyle coach - to make it look easy? To make it look like you can do it with their formula if only you give them twenty thousand dollars? You just need to manifest (aka strive) for it?
I am very sceptical of life and success coaches in general, and felt like this was more than a little bit of a sales pitch. But there were some parts of the book I enjoyed.
I really enjoyed this book! It focuses on the story of Esther and the power she had as queen. We have to learn to use our Queen identity and not listen to all of the less powerful identities that often try to speak into our lives such as the saboteur, the princess, little miss perfect, etc. This book has some good exercises to help you root out the underlying core beliefs that are holding you back and helps you bring awareness to pinpointing the things that are keeping you from reaching your goals and desires. I feel like I will be coming back to this book often as a reminder to put on my Queen!
I want to give it one star only but I put one star only when I want to put 0 So one star just because it's a self development book that made me remember that I need to reconnect with god and the universe so I feel better, nothing else!!! I thought it would be the perfect book from the cover but nooo, it's too long for nothing, the exercises are so useless, there's a lot of repitation and she talks about herself a lot. I mean excuse me I bought "the audacity to be queen" not how YOU became one plus adding 2 phrases of "u can do it" or "ur epic life starts now" okay tell me how??? , it was a Big waste of papers and of course my time .
A true road map to fulfilling our glorious potential and a wonderful reminder that there is a higher power that we all have access to… we just need to ask, listen and then act. A beautiful blend of feminine wisdom, story-telling and actionable takeaways.
I especially loved the exercises at the end of the chapters which help you apply the concepts Gina DeVee shares so that you can reclaim the life you were destined to live.
Definitely a book I will pass along to my daughter and girlfriends.
This is a MUST read for EVERY woman!!!! This book will be your second Bible. It challenged me, chastised me, empowered me and unlifted me every page. Gina gives it to you straight with a toolbox in hand. This is a book you will return to many times for the lessons and words of wisdom apply no matter where you are in your sacred journey. I'm keeping this for my daughter...it will be mandatory reading once she hits high school. Thank you Gina; you have truly made a difference for me.
I loved the real-life stories that made it super relatable. Be careful, once you read this you realize how you've allowed yourself to be treated and you want to change that. That's great, be prepared to get some resistance from those who aren't ready for your change....and POWER THRU! THIS BOOK CHANGED MY WHOLE PERSPECTIVE ON K OWING YOUR DIVINE WORTH.
I enjoyed this book, in fact I’ll probably read it twice to really integrate what I read. It’s nothing majorly new if you have read enough self development books, & if you have already studied a lot. But sometimes a great book, that’s an easy read, that you can easily understand ones along and every female should read it - as the purpose it was written for! Read it without judgement!
Empowering women worldwide to master their feminine and step into their Queenhood. What’s not to love?!
This book is brilliant and masterfully written in a way that is down-to-earth, relatable, and incredibly actionable. Gina DeVee has exceeded all expectation and in turn will be changing lives around the globe.
I will be gifting copies to every women I know, and you definitely should too!
Wow! What a great book. I loved the calls to action and thoughtful prayers and meditation. It is liberating hearing a Queen talk about HUGE money, business, sisterhood, spirituality, material things, love, and light all in the same paragraph. FINALLY thanks!!
This is the best non-fiction book I’ve read all year! It was an engaging read, but also packed with thought provoking insights, impactful stories, and implementable tactics. I can already see the impact it’s making in my life.
This is a must read for any woman wanting to connect with their inner queen!
