Melt #9

Rate this book
MELT goes worldwide as Phase II of the MELT series continues in early 2020.

A new, intensely thrilling series, MELT has received unanimous praise from beta readers and early reviewers alike. Written by JJ Pike and Mike Kraus, MELT examines a part of our world that we often take for granted. Add in a dash of real science and a glimpse of what the future might hold in store and you're presented with the recipe for MELT: a frighteningly real post-apocalyptic thriller.

Phase II of MELT will continue to be extra-long novels, approximately 4-6 books in length.

I've been struggling with this series for a while. The initial concept was very interesting-surely someday someone will try to find a solution for our huge amount of plastic waste. What can go wrong, right? This interesting premise has consistently been submerged beneath the stories of the erratic characters, some of whom are very difficult to like. This book continues the annoying habit of each and every character having an internal dialogue and agonizing over their life choices. It goes on and on. And on. In this book, we have Alice's diary which is very haphazardly done and very, very tedious and hard to follow. The mighty Wolfjaw bunker has a coup...from the kids. Huh. The capture and treatment of Jo, Alice, Michael and Christine is murky but a little more interesting though I am still scratching my head over the outcome. This is #9 of 10 so I may as well finish the series but am honestly not too enthused.

Another fantastic book by two superb writers. What will happen, will things work out. I was so immersed in the book, I didn’t even realize when I came to the end. Something for everyone.

JJ Pike and Mike Kraus' MELT series segues seamlessly into Book 9, CHARGE, to continue the struggle for survival of the characters. We learn of the all-too-believable ecological disaster, triggered by MELT, now a deadly pathogen, that was released deliberately, by Eloise 'Fran' Farmanday, wanted by the FBI until her death.
An underground 'city,' Wolfjaw Ridge, is run by Alistair, where uninfected civilians can take refuge from MELT and a nuclear fallout. He allows General Hoyt and his men to enter, though any infected by the virus are executed. Keeping order, managing to get enough food for all and the impending mega-hurricane all add to the sense of impending doom in this vignette of a 'what if...?' near-future world.
A wide variety of disparate characters, with believable personalities, benefits the storyline by 'keeping it real', right to the very end of CHARGE, by L.T Vargus and Tim McBain.
A thought-provoking chronicle, that hopefully never comes to pass in reality...get your copy today!

This review is for the series books 1 thru 9

Mike Kraus and J J Pike are my favorite work together writing team. The story line for this series is great. It is a page turner, with twists and turns everywhere. It will rock the world of EOTWAWKI readers, and preppers. How to come up with this storyline in the 1st place is very imagagentive. But to carry it through and hold everything in line is extraordinary. I give them a 9 and 7/8 star rating. CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 10!

because I had to wait so long for book 9 and a year for book 10? What the author can’t type that fast? Oh and be the way, who the heck is Jan van Karpel? Was he the idiot head honcho for P & E? Would be nice if the author had refreshed our memory.

Other than that, not a bad story.

Intriguing Adventure

The world is devastated and only a few people have a chance to stop the horrible substance that caused it to happen. There are actually several stories going on, intertwined, but each fascinating. Recommend you start with first book, you will not be disappointed.

Great apocalyptic thriller!

Charge, book 9 of the series, is an edge-of-your seat, white knuckle surprise! All of it, and the characters are well written and realistic. The storyline is very interesting and entertaining. I highly recommend the entire series.

Melting

Melt has become a major problem. The survivors are not getting enough support to get them through. Melt is now in Europe and then where? Waiting on book 10 to see what happens.

Great read

These two authors work magic as they weave and continue the story line.
If you have not read the first eight books please go back and do so.

Tired

Not great. Struggled to get through this book. Pages of nothingness. The story line feels tired and has run its course.

Exhilarating

9 books in and it keeps developing characters, adding twists and turns, and providing a hard-to- put-down read. Fun stuff.

I enjoyed this book in the series but it felt like some people were left out or not mentioned enough.
