After he was left for dead in a wildfire, Ian can’t help his monstrous appearance. No one could love him with his beastly features, not even his own family. Add in the fact that he’s an omega raising a daughter on his own and he’s destined to remain single for good. But when Steve looks at him, there’s a different kind of heat in his eyes, one Ian wants to reach for, if he can guarantee he won’t get burned again.
He’s not strong enough for a mate of his own ...
Detective Steve Daniels may be an alpha, but he’s not nearly as strong as the other members of his pack. He’ll never be alpha enough to claim a mate of his own. But Ian’s scent drives him crazy, and spending time holed up with the man and his daughter makes Steve wonder if he might be just the mate Ian needs to heal and grow.
The wolves can’t make it work as long as Ian stubbornly refuses to perceive his own worth. Steve sees the man, not the scars, and he’ll do anything to prove that his mate is worthy of love. He’ll have to find inner strength of his own to claim his omega and protect their growing family, and this time Steve will be worthy enough to love everything he holds dear.
Protective Daddy is the seventh book in the Timberwood Cove series by Liam Kingsley. This book is about detective Steve Daniels an alpha in the wolves pack and omega Ian who got attacked by dragons, one of them the other father of his 2 year old daughter. I really love this serie so far and this book wasn't an exception.
3.5 Stars I like the series as a whole. It's entertaining. I love Skylar in this book and the tidbit at the end. I look forward to getting to know more couples and revisit the old ones in the next few books.
Liam Kingsley has once again brought another epic adventure with the Timberwood Cove Wolves, get comfortable with a nice drink and be prepared to be entertained.
Detective Steve Daniels is a wolf shifter and he is investigating the attack of dragon shifters on a human male that Nash pulled from a dragon fire in the mountain. When Steve arrives at the hospital, Nash tells Steve that he didn’t tell him anything in regards to the fire and his accident, but he kept saying Skylar. Because the victim was unconscious, they had to find out who he was, His name was Ian Talley. Ian has a two year old daughter who was with a babysitter, Steve realises that if the dragons tried to kill him, then his daughter was at fish as well, so he took Skylar into protective custody.
It takes two months of being in a medically induced coma for Ian’s burns to not be as painful during his treatment. Ian is now awake and Steve needs to talk with him. As he is walking towards his hospital room, he smells a smell he never thought he would smell, the smell of his fated mate. That is Ian. He recognises him when he walks into Ian’s room.
Steve takes Ian home with him and settles him in his home and there he stays. There is lots of drama with the rogue dragons and the need to stay hidden from them. Ian’s life is in danger and so is Skylar. The pack come to support them and keep them safe until the rogue dragons finally come to get Ian and Skylar. There is a battle which the alpha of the Spitfire Clan Marco comes to their aide to take down the three dragons who attack Steve while he is carrying Skylar.
Marco also helps Steve I the claiming ceremony with the claiming of Skylar and turning her into a wolf. But is she a full wolf? We can only find out by reading the next book when it comes out.

While investigating the case of a dragon-fire victim, detective and alpha wolf shifter Steve makes another astonishing discovery - his fated mate. Human omega Ian has lasting scars - inside and out - after nearly dying and is resigned to living only for his young dragon shifter daughter Skylar.
As one might expect, there's some angst in this hurt/comfort love story and it comes from all sides - the lingering threat of Skylar's bio alpha father, Steve ensuring Ian and Skylar's safety, an unplanned pregnancy, and Ian coming to terms with his injuries and opening his heart to his fated mate.
With Ian, Skylar and Steve on protective lockdown at the pack compound, there's an effective and steady build-up of tension and suspense leading up to a dragon/wolf showdown. Tensions also explode between Ian and Steve, where nasty, hurtful things are said, and I didn't like how much of that was glossed over later with Steve chalking it up to having kept his inner wolf caged too long, and Ian's PTSD being mentioned but left unaddressed.
Overall, this story was engaging, and had some heartwarming moments and - mostly for Ian - some very frustrating, hurtful and disappointing ones. In the end, I couldn't help but feel Ian deserved to be treated so much better, fated mates or not. Also disappointing is that the cover, which is clearly supposed to be Steve, does not reflect his being described as a POC.
This is my first time hearing narrator Jack Bellows, and I enjoyed his performance and smooth delivery. It may be worth noting, too, that the "Daddy" in the title refers to being a parent rather than Daddy kink. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.
Look up to the Sky How can you protect your child when you can't protect yourself? Why is he raising her alone when he knows who the child's father is and where he is? This is a story about a single Human father badly burned necessitating someone else take care of his daughter. How is he going to regain custody of her when he's finally well enough to leave the hospital? How is he going to pay his hospital bill? How can he get a job if his burns are not only debilitating, but make him look like a monster?
He's so afraid of his daughter's reaction, first she hasn't seen him in months and second half of his face is horribly scarred from the burning he suffered. He's terrified - he knows who beat him up and who set him on fire. How is he going to protect his daughter? A cop - someone whose motto is to protect & serve - has taken on the responsibility of this almost "orphaned" little girl - he finds himself irrevocably drawn to her and doesn't realize why until he officially meets her hurting father who turns out to be his fated mate.
It's so hard for Humans to accept a shifter and the concept of fated mates, but some are aware of shifters in the form of arrogant, abusive, dominant Alphas. So when the Omega meets a good shifter Alpha he is very suspicious. He has a great number of trust issues based on his terrible experiences causing him not to think straight.
This book was full of action and danger. Protecting loved ones could be putting them in danger. Helping to nurse someone back to health and reuniting a father & daughter. Cabin fever leads to negative consequences. A happily ever after comes after a struggle.
This was an excellent book! Contained wolf & dragon shifters - my favorites. Emotionally, this one really tugged at the heartstrings all the way through: laughter, tears, fear, anger, love, heartbreak - the whole gammit. Steve & Ian made such a complimentary couple, really played to eachother's strengths/weaknesses. There were a couple times I wanted to smack Steve (still do), but his alpha sorta stepped up for me on one of them. Eventually you are given a good background explaining both Steve and Ian's personality quirks, though spread put throughout the book for Steve.
Steve is a wolf shifter cop detective who is protecting his mate, Ian, after he was burned from Ian's baby-daddy, Mike, a dragon shifter. Ian, a human, is terribly disfigured, and emotionally traumatized both from the relationship and the attach. Steve does not see himself as a strong alpha because of events in his past, and has an intense issue with dragons.
As they co-exist, Steve works to help Ian overcome his low view of himself. Steve sees his beauty, but can he? Will Steve step-up to be the kind of alpha Ian needs? Can they become the happy family they are meant to be with Mike still free and Ian at risk (Skylar too)? There are so many emotional twists throughout this book; enthrolling and gripping read! I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest, unbias review.
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the seventh book in the Timberwood Cove series. In this book. Steve is the cop who has been investigating the fires that are suspected to have been set by a group of rogue dragons. During the latest fire, Nash saved a man from the fire and when Steve saw the man, he knew he was his fated mate, but he knew nothing about him. Ian was human and he was the single father of a 2 year old daughter Skylar. Skylar's father is a dragon and the leader of the rogue group. When Steve learned about Skylar, he knew he had to protect her, so he arranged for her to be in the care of the pack until Ian was able to return from the hospital. Ian was burned badly, but Steve didn't care, he wanted to be with him anyway, but Ian felt no one could love him because of his scars. ian went to stay with Steve and Skylar until the dragons were caught and they grew closer. Steve was determined to protect them and keep his family safe. I really loved this book, It was an emotional read at times. My heart broke for Steve at times and for Ian at others. I loved how Steve was with Skylar and how he loved her like his own. They had a lot to deal with as a new couple and they had to learn how to communicate their feelings. Steve also had issues from his past he needed to talk about. I think this was the best one of this series. Well done.
If you have read the other books in this series by Liam, you will know all about the Dragons and their Chaos they have been causing in the community. And i have to say , i was so excited to read this, because it finally come to the conclusion of those pesky things causing so much ruin In the last book Ian got saved from burning alive, and now here is his HEA, and a really lovely one this is as well.
Ian has a beautiful daughter but things are hard so he asks his ex for money just to help out, but that turned out to be a big mistake as his ex was a Alpha Rogue Dragon and it ended up with him been in hospital with major burns. Steve, a detective, goes to see Ian at the hospital, and finds out he has a daughter, so he takes her in his care and the care of his Clan, but on going back to see Ian, he discovers that he is his fated mate. He takes Ian home as he is in Protective Custody, but despite them both been attracted to each other Ian thinks that he is ugly, heck even his daughter when she first saw him called him a monster! Can Ian get over how he looks, after all Steve had said that he sees his beauty from the eyes and inside him, not the outside... can this possibly be true, he hasnt even said he loves him?
An enjoyable, heartwarming Mpreg shifter romance that is the 7th book in the series “Timberwood Cove” & it can be read as a standalone but it is quite heartbreaking to read at times. The plot is extremely well-written & flows smoothly throughout the story-line, there is good scene descriptions & world building. The well-developed characters are quite unique & develop good chemistry as they go through a lot of trials & tribulations on their emotional journey of discovery. There is good support from the secondary characters. There is: an human male omega (Ian) with physical scars & a daughter (Skylar) is under the impression that he will be forever alone but a alpha wolf shifter (Detective Steve Daniels) sees the man & not the scars, Ian’s despicable ex (Mike Styles), various kinds of shifter, rogues, humans, law enforcement, twists & turns, drama, intrigue, danger, threats, conflict, violence, vengeful feelings, confrontations, injuries, protective custody, heartache, fated mates, attractions, insecurities, fantasies, warnings, advice, surprises, disagreements, remorse, manipulations, apologies, love, happiness, some steam, contentment & a wonderful conclusion. There is a interesting ending that could be paving the way for the next book in this series.
Steve knew as soon as he scented the victim of the dragon attack that he was his mate. Wolf shifter and police detective Steve Daniels headed to the hospital where the burnt victim of the dragon attack and the witness to the attack had been taken. The witness a wolf shifter states that there were four dragons setting the trees alight and heard a human crying out in pain and could smell him burning a smell that brought back memories of his time in the military and found the human male with most of his clothes burnt away in and out of consciousness asking for someone called Skylar. Steve then heads to see the victim his partner tells him that they have got a name and an address from items in the victim's wallet but as they are not allowed in they have to look through a monitor Steve can see the victim had also been beaten. As the victim was going to be kept unconscious for sometime to manage the pain Steve heads for the address given. The door is opened by a young woman who is babysitting a two year old called Shylar. Knowing the child needs protection he arranges for the babysitter to work for him and takes her to the gated community which is the home of the wolf pack.

Certain threads that have been woven through previous books in this series now start to weave themselves into answers. Who are the rogue dragons and what do they want? Who was the burn victim Nash rescued in the previous book? Will detective Daniels find his fated mate? Where is the line between protective alpha and controlling abuser? This is a story of pain and overcoming scars both physical and mental. Ian's rebuilding of his life, especially his relationship with his yound daughter makes this the most genuinely painful book in this series. The rest have seemed to have a gentle, warm blanket wrapped around them even when characters were struggling. That comfort is ripped away in the early parts of this story. The ending more than makes up for the pain and the author's take on the hurt/comfort trope is very well done. There is an action packed battle to save Ian and Skylar, there are evil characters whose comeuppance we cheer and a wonderful happy every after for Ian and Steve. Questions about Skylar's nature and exactly what powers she will have are raised here to be answered in future books so there is not a complete wrap up. As always, reading the previous volumes in the series is helpful, but not at all necessary to one's enjoyment of this book.
I love Ian and Steve's story. They fought for their happily ever after. This is an intense book that had me on the edge of my seat. It had me engage from beginning to end. You may need tissues for some happy tears. *Spoilers*
With Ian fighting for his life in the hospital, Detective Steve took Ian's daughter, Skylar, into protective custody living with him. After Ian was well enough to leave the hospital he went to live with Steve and his pack, and was reunited with his daughter. It turns out Ian and Steve are fated mates. Their lives get stressed as Ian becomes pregnant, his ex is still on the loose for trying to kill him and he and Skylar are confident to the house for their protection. I love how Steve naturally took to Skylar and treated her as his own even before she was. I just love Marco too. He became a true friend to the pack. I loved how Ian's scent changed once he was claimed. And I hope Ian finally got to run with the pack after their new baby was born. This is a wonderful addition to the series and I highly recommend it.

This is a great continuation of the Timberwood Cove series. For the best enjoyment, read the other 6 books in order. I am rereading this series. It's that good. Old friends welcomed me back. An old enemy reared his ugly head. And two stubborn men get HEA. Burned by his ex in an attack that left him for dead, Ian is scarred in more than one way. He has to reconnect with his 2 year old daughter, Skylar, and come to grips with the overly protective alpha detective who says he's his fated mate. Steve doesn't see Ian's scars. He just sees his fated mate. He already loves Skylar as his own. Now he has to make Ian see that he wants him as a permanent part of his life. Hiding from Ian's vengeful ex will test their relationship. But with the help of the Pack, and a dragon clan leader, things will be made right. You will love this book. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
If you've been reading the Timberwood Cove series, you know that the dangerous dragon shifters have been causing trouble. In Protective Daddy, we get an extra treat as a wolf shifter falls in love with a human who happens to have a dragon shifter as a daughter. Yes, you read that right. And it's just as much fun as you'd think.
Steve's a cop who finds his fated mate in Ian, a human. Ian's ex is a dragon shifter who tried to kill him, scarring his face. I adore that Steve makes Ian feel safe and protected for the first time ever. It's perfectly developed.
Poor Ian is so broken, scarred from the burns his ex gave him and full of self-esteem issues. Their story is full of romantic fated mates feels along with danger and some action.
The young dragon shifter Skyler is absolutely adorable and loveable. I love every scene he's in.
This Timberwood Cove series is a great shifter series. Each book introduces a new couple, yet there's an ongoing story throughout. I am so glad to have discovered them.
Wow I absolutely loved this story and Liam Kingsley has hit another story right out of the ball park again, keep the good work up Liam your an amazing m/m author who writes amazing stories and I thank you for another gem of a story it’s so emotional I bawled my eyes out like a baby. I loved Ian’s and Steve’s story, Ian was dry badly burnt when he was left for dead in a wildfire he believes that he is a monster and that he doesn’t deserve love. Ian is an omega he’s a single dad with a daughter and when he asks his ex for help Ian ends up in the hospital. Detective Steve goes to the hospital to see Ian and finds out that Ian has a daughter so Steve takes her into his care and when Steve see’s Ian he knows that he is his mate but can Steve get through to Ian and prove that he isn’t a monster because of his scars but will Ian listen?. Loved this story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
Trust your gut and fight like heck for those you love! Ian, human asked his baby daddy, Mike Styles, dragon for child support. Mike had his boys beat Ian, then Mike burnt him with dragonfire. This is the man, Nash saved. While invstigating, Steve realized Ian was his mate. He also found, Skylar, Ian's dragon daughter. He took Sky to the compound to be watched out by the 'village'. Ian was in the hospital 2 months, then he went to the compound. It was nice getting to know Ian and Steve. There was not as much about Steve, but he still comes off as a good guy! The mating courtship is complicated by Ian's insecurities over his burns, Mike's insanity, the bad dragons' agenda toward the wolves and Ian and the trials. I want to hear about all the members of the community. The storytelling is easy, exciting, intriguing and the mystery is riveting. Excellent series! For those who are familiar with the TIMBERWOOD COVE series, you know about the rogue dragons and the trouble they are causing. Steve, police detective and member of the Timberwood wolf shifter clan, is fighting them for a while, when he is called to a case of a human attacked by the dragons and severely burnt after he was beaten. Looking for relatives he finds 2-year-old Skylar and all his protective instincts roar to live. Finally allowed to see her father 2 months later, he realises that Ian is his fated mate. But Ian had long been abused, not only physically, but mentally and believes that he is not worth to be Steve's mate. A lovely story, with funny intervals, when Skylar winds the men around her little finger. Well-written, entertaining and maybe a closure on the rogue dragon side story? *I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one elses*
My heart ached for Ian; his attack left him with severe emotional and physical scars. My eyes welled up at his daughter’s reaction to seeing him the first time after the attack. His heart shattered into a billion pieces and his pain bleed through the pages. I just wanted to hug and comfort him.
Steve was an ideal mate until he turned into someone I didn’t like. The way he spoke to Ian was cruel and hurtful. I don’t think he did enough to redeem himself.
Another great additional to the series. This book was very emotional and the author explored Ian’s struggles emotionally and physically really well.
Steve is an Alpha, Wolf shifter and also a detective in the Timberwood Cove police force. When he is called to investigate the near fatal attack, he is overwhelmed by the need to protect the victim. His fated mate. Ian is human and almost died from the beating and burns inflicted by his ex mate. But Ian is determined to get out of the hospital and be reunited with his daughter, Skylar, who is also the daughter of the rogue dragon shifter, who tried to kill him. After a few months Ian is allowed home but Steve insists on Ian and Skylar staying with him where he can protect them. As the men grow closer, the threat of another attack on Ian turns into a reality.

Who is Steve? Who and what are the Spitfire clan? Their name makes sense. That's for sure. Who isRick Patton? What do he and Steve do for a living? What are Rick and Steve working on? Who are Ian and Skylar? Why is Steve in contact with CPS? Where is Ian? This book was fascinating to read! The Alpha/Omega side fo it, the mundane work vs. being at the shifter compound. Humans and shifters, wolves and dragons, can they all live together in harmony? Read and see!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
I just loved this alpha/omega story. Ian scarred by his past dragon lover and father to his child found love with this amazing alpha wolf. It was great that Steve told Ian right off the bat that he was his fated mate and worked on building the trust and love with Ian. Steve bonded with Ian's little girl which was amazing and loved Ian regardless of how he looks. Ian had his insecurities but was able to overcome which was an incredible feat considering what all he been through. This romance was wonderful and I can't wait to read more of Liam Kingsley's alpha/omega books.

Nash saves him but he is badly injured. When Steve goes to interview him as part of his job, he knows instantly that Ian is his mate - but can he convince Ian of this? At least he can look after him - and Skylah - while he heals. When Mike comes looking for hem again, will they finally succeed in ridding Timbertop of the worst of the rogue dragons? I love this series!

4.5 stars. Ian picked a nasty guy to shack-up with but I admired his strength to leave for his baby. His scars have him doubting his worth. He may not think much of himself but he's willing to defend his baby girl against anyone. Steve is a protector at heart. His lack of self-confidence causes problems along with the neglect of his wolf. He made me want to smack him at times. I liked that Ian, the stronger of the two, was the first to apologize. He didn't hold back or point fingers, he just acknowledged his mistakes. The ending was beautiful. I loved the bonus chapter and getting to see their beautiful family a few years in the future.
A lovely sweet coming together after a horrific tried & tested havoc of near death of Human Omega Ism whose ex an Alpha Dragon Shifter Mike tried to kill him after asking for a bit of child maintenence. But its whilst Detective Steve Daniels whose in charge of the situation & decide to be involved in the foster care of Ian's 2 yr old daughter Skylar. And its during this time whilst Ian's in a coma & he's getting closer to Skylar that when Steve sents Ian that he is, his Lifemate. Things start off fairly swiftly & @ ease to begin with, though there is some saddening moments, where I did shed some tears, but I get told I'm a bit too soppy 😢😍💞
I received this free audio book from Freeaudiobooks.com. I don't have to write a review for the books I receive from there but I enjoyed the story and so I decided to write a quick review.
I hadn't read anything by this author before and I was pleasantly surprised. I do like shifter stories and this one was actually quite good. It is book seven in the Timberwood Cove series and although I started with book 7 I didn't feel lost at all. In fact I am now very eager to read the other stories in this series. It is a simple story with well developed characters which I enjoyed. I will definitely be reading other books by this author.
This is the seventh book in this series Timberwood Cove series. They can be read as a standalone but to get a better understanding of the background story and the of the characters you can read them all. The story was well written, flows well, the characters have amazing chemistry. Will Steve be able to claim his mate? Will Ian finally allow himself to fall in love and become the family that he wants? The story will keep you interested in to see what happens.
