When the FBI comes snooping around, asking questions about the butchered traffickers at the orphanage and warehouse...Clint and Cochise's freedom is threatened. Their families are suddenly staring down a frightening future without the two men they love the most as they struggle to cope with this new and painful reality.

Born and raised in scenic Coos County, Oregon, CJ enjoys the small town atmosphere and down-to-earth country folk who populate the area. She is a single mother and lives with her 18-year-old daughter, 1 horse, 4 dogs and 6 cats deep in the country woodlands which gives her plenty of time to write.
She is a Christian and a strong supporter of the LGBT community and favors gay erotic romance when it comes to writing. She hopes that her stories of love and acceptance will help further compassion and understanding for LGBT people who she feels is greatly misunderstood and persecuted - in a large party by the Christian community.
Most of all, she is hopeful that her stories will bring comfort to those who have been told that God hates them because they are different. It is her strong belief that God loves everyone and His love covers all.
First, let me say that I am a huge fan of C J Bishop and the Cowboy Gangster/Phoenix Club novels. HOWEVER, so much of THIS novella just didn't make sense to me. "FBI" agents show up to your home and demand that you come with them. NO ONE thinks to verify their authenticity or their orders? These men (Clint, the Egyptian, Wil) all know the law backwards and forwards. These are NOT innocent men, never having dealt with government agencies before. They should have demanded verification of orders, an arrest warrant, or a phone confirmation before leaving with the "agents". Also, why was Wil taken and beaten when the "agents" already had video confirmation of Clint and the Egyptian at the junkyard? Finally, why was this book released with its' wide-open ending? No resolution. This book was a tease and should have been part of a complete novel. As it is, it reads more like an excerpt from a larger story. I was disappointed to reach the end and realize that there is no conclusion.
It's good to get a new type of life situation for Cowboy/Cochise and Axel/Kane that seems to be leading away from total immersion in all the child rape story lines from the past few books. That said, I'm disappointed that the plot to start it off was so weirdly unbelievable and so far OOC for both Cowboy and Cochise that I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to really get into this. I don't care how "domesticated" Cowboy and Cochise are, you won't convince me that they would have waited for the FBI to roll up and then just rolled over when they knew it was all fishy. I also skimmed a bit of this because the repetitive meltdown of Axel was boring and overdone.
I am also not happy that this is very much a cliffhanger. I wish I had known that before I started it.
And who the hell is Luciana? Is that a character from the past books I should remember?
I’m not wholly convinced that CJ Bishop hasn’t gone completely off the rails with this one. Clint and Cochise have always had a way to sense that things aren’t right. It’s not like them to have fallen into such a trap. I also find it odd that no one contacted Cruz or Anthony about what was going on. I’m hoping that changes in the next installment of this story. Also, they need to work with Wil to see what he went through.
This is definitely not a stand-alone – more like a teaser for an actual book. It seems to be the popular thing for authors to do these days. They put out shorter and shorter books with partial stories so they can charge people more. Kind of a crappy thing to do to your fans if you ask me. But, at least these are on KU so I don’t have to spend money on each “book”.
Unbelievable. Left me with my mouth open. What are you doing CJ Bishop? You can't take our guys away from us. I always need tissues when I read one of her books. This one was no different. Actually I needed more of them. This book rips your heart out. Turns you inside out and leaves you wanting more. I can't believe what is happening with our guys. You want to cry and scream at the same time. I can't wait for the next one. I'm on pins and needles with want. This is a must read. If you follow the cowboy, you HAVE to read this. If you don't, you better get started. This was amazing, amazingly sad.
I just devour any book that CJ Bishop writes. And this one was no different. Pain, anguish and disbelief was the theme of this one. I hate where this is going but our guys will get there HEA.
Well, she has done it again. I have no clue where this series is headed next. How are my boys getting out of this? I cried nearly all the way through this book. Every scenario my brain tries to conjure a way out for them leads straight to a dead end. I just hope this isn't the actual end of the trail for my favorite cowboy and Egyptian. Not when they finally committed to true love and family. The next title is not very encouraging. I wait on pins and needles for the next release in 2020. This is a must read for any fans of The Cowboy and Cochise, but I wouldn't blame you for at least waiting for book 2 before starting. This one is short and leaves you hanging with an ache in your gut. There are very few authors who can invest me so deeply in their characters. CJ Bishop is one of my top 2. Still an auto-one-click-buy. Even if you are not an LGBTQ fan, all of the series in this universe are all still worth reading.
This book is a solid 4.5 stars for me. In all honesty, I dropped half a star because I still wish she had a better editor. An occasional spelling typo is easy to overlook and forgive, but things like tagging a quote as Axel instead of Angel mid-conversation are just plain annoying and inexcusable for a decent editor to miss. This has happened in multiple books now. Sometimes multiple times in one book. If I did not get so sucked into the stories, I'd probably have given up on the author by now. Just one more testament to how good her books are!
CJ Bishop doesn't disappoint in New story of our favorite cowboy Clint and his partner in crime the Egyptian Conchise. If you haven't read this entire series this far, STOP and race to read from the beginning. Clint and Axel's love story is the ultimate love story of all time. Sorry I don't give anything away as far as plot. But I do share my love and enjoyment of these characters. Let's just say this does and in a cliffhanger and boy oh boy do I want the next book in the list series. Just love me some Clint!
Omfg my heart is breaking for my guys!!!! CJ BISHOP has written a heartbreaking book . I never spoil a book for those who have yet read it. All I can say have box of tissues and be prepared to yell and scream no no no. What the hell is happening and who is that ****** doing this. This is a 5 star book from beginning to the end. I am so looking forward to reading the next book January is not coming fast enough cause this cliff hanger a killer...Thank you so m uh for writing an amazingly heartbreaking book😈
Don't miss this novella about the Cowboy and Cochise!! As always, Cj captures your attention and sucks you right into the story. Without giving anything away, let me just say SHOCKING!! All the emotions you expect from Cj when she is writing about the Gangsters and their loves. Take an hour and a half for yourself and enjoy this short.
The only bad part of this book is i have to wait till january 2020 for the next part. The story line is great as usual. Has me guessing what the results will be. Bring in characters from other books which i enjoy. Always holds my attention i cant put the book down only took me a night to read now chomping at the bit for more.
C. J. Bishop has done it again. She written and added another great book to her Cowboy Gangster series. From the very first chapter you are drawn in to see what going happen to your beloved characters of the series. If you are a fan of the series this is a must read!!!! My only issue is I have to wait for part two to be release.
What the he'll happened to the Cowboy and Cochise?! Did they lose their ability to speak and the good sense God gave them?! Why couldn't they are that the situation they"we in is all a drip and the FUN are fake? I"m speechless. I hope the next book explains this mess and Clint and Cochise get back to their lives. What carp is this?
Ok I truly had a problem with this book. It wasn't the writing, because that was great. It wasn't the characters, because I already love them. But to do that to my boys is wrong. I was in tears for my boys. Now I have to wait and see if it all turns out. 😢
As always CJ has delivered another wonderful book!! It keep me on my toes wondering what was going on!! I'm sad for Axel and Kane right now but I know in true CJ fashion this too will come to a happy ending for the boys!!
I was so happy to see another series about the Cowboy. This is one series I'm really going to enjoy reading, because once you start, you can't put down until it's finished. I'll try to wait patiently for the next book.
This book is another piece of brilliant work by CJ Bishop, a powerful book with twists and turns leaving you desperate to get the next book. A must read for all fans of the CJ Bishop, you will definitely not be disappointed just left wanting the rest of the story.
OMG, can't they get a break. Let them get married, raise their kids and grow old together. Clint and Cochise have landed in something far worse than hell. Axel, Kane and their families are going through hell. Can't wait to see what happens.
Oooohhhh...The cowboy and the Egyptian are up s***d creek and poor poor Axel is not handling it to well.. I can't wait to get stuck in to the next book this bunch of friend friends and family get me hooked each and every time
Oh, nooo. This can't be happening. I got lured to get this book before I have the whole lot and now what? Putting the cliffhanger out of my mind I will go and read something fluffy till I can get back to Clint and Axel. Hang in there guys, hope is all you have right now.
Because it's been a while since this book came out there will be some spoilers in this review, this is my second time reading this book since it came out and I went into the story with a fresh breath of eyes and with knowledge of what happens further down in the story but I will not spoil any other details from another book.
When detective Will gets a sudden visit from the FBI looking for information about the Gangsters that took out the people that ran the Orphanage. The detective is put in an impossible situation that will soon show to put more than him and his family in a dangerous situation.
After the events that happen during Christmas Clint and Axel are finally ready to settle down and just spend time together with their new children, but when the phone call from the Detective's new boyfriend comes they are put on alert and the bad feeling and anxiety come back as they both know how fast everything they have fought to keep together can fall apart.
Since the end of Angels book where Axel redeemed himself by trying to save Angel we have seen a growth in Axel more than in many of the other characters, maybe its because he has more main roles in the Cowboy gangster series or just because he fits so well into each and every book in this series. In this book, we get to see how Axel but also Kane both struggle when the worst of worst happens and how they have to fight together with everyone else in this series to find a solution to the new challenge that they all are facing. As always I love reading CJ Bishop's books as she isn’t afraid of writing about dark, and quite horrific human suffering we know about but hear so little about as well. the level of detail in each book always surprises me as I still every time is mind-blown by how good each new book is.
As always I can’t stop to recommend this book series to people, Both the Phoenix Club and the Cowboy Gangster series as both series characters are in a part of the story.
