Steve doesn’t know who he was.He does know a lot more than he did previously though. He’s in a country called Lamals where men are required to have children, then more often than not go fight and die.And that’s just how it is.Things are at least improving though.Steve successfully put a stop to the Creep’s advance. He’d buried it under a mountain of broken wall and escaped with his life.Which eliminates one enemy. The creep and it’s undead. Now he only has to worry about bandits, the military, the country of Lamals, and other people. With that problem neatly solved, Steve can worry about problems closer to home. After all, his only true concerns are about his farm and his family. That’s all he really needs. Everyone else little better than a resource to be utilized.Unfortunately, things still aren’t what they seem to be. The messages Steve left himself pointed at something beyond their contents. Now, that something more is about to make contact with him.On top of that, the farm is going to hit capacity eventually. Especially if one factored into it that Steve was likely going to have children at some point in the future.Family troubles and more problems than he could expect are about to find Steve. Shooting up as if they were trees grown with his over-powered watering can.Good thing Steve has his Axe.Any problem can be solved with it with the right application of force.Warning and minor This novel contains graphic violence, undefined relationships/harem, unconventional opinions/beliefs, and a hero who is as tactful as a dog at a cat show. Read at your own risk. This story is an Adult Fantasy novel.

Fostering Faust is a much better series. Steve, the main character in this book just isn't as likeable. The story isn't well developed, I'm not sure where the author is taking me. It almost seems like a bunch of random things happened. But, it is still a Randi Darren story. So there is a lot of fighting, a lot of f**king and a lot of women. Other than that, this one is a little hard to describe.

3 stars, so sadly I had more issues with this book than others by this author. I don't usually mind the adult sex scenes, it is not the main reason I read these type of books but it usually does not bother me, but this one did at times. It was not the scenes themselves but the amount of them. The author goes overboard in this book and it was a little turn off for me. The other issue I had was the MC has some real character inconsistencies, I think the author is trying to make the MC a more complete character but I think he just makes him inconsistency with who he is or who I was thinking he was anyway. The author tries to shows a darker side to his MC but in the end it did not work for me and just made me confused about the MC feelings and motivation. I did not total dislike the book and it had some really good parts, interesting plot twists, new character and situation. I will be continuing with this series as I did enjoy it but I just had some stronger issues with this book than normal with this author. I have loved other books by this author and the first book in this series I enjoyed very much.

This book was an awesome continuation of the series. Although that ending was not cool. Seriously when will Steve catch a break. I can just see him hunting down the Queen sticking her on a pike and waving it around. This voice he is hearing in his head I am pretty sure is actually Zuess cause there is no way that Runner or anyone he works with would be that callous. At least not with Steve's many losses. Hell even Ryker or Alex isn't that cold... These are guys who would be more likely had Steve his ax pick up their own axes and toss the shovel to others to start digging the large grave they would need for all the people they would kill.

Wow I really loved this book I hated that Steve lost more of his wives. This book has more twist and turns then the first book. Will Steve ever truly forgive his first wife?

A different story than normal.

This book was very dark and had some interesting quirks and backstory that keep me interested in the story. I really did not enjoy it as much as I expected because of all the death of his wives.

Meh...

This book was Def not as good as the 1st one. The author seems to overly sex the MC. I get that this is a harem but 80% of the book is collecting women and having sex... Needs more content and storyline and less porn.

lot of people seem to like this book. Sadly i can not say that i did.
Book one was ok. But i could not finish this one. The MC frankly disgusts me with his actions. (no not the sex parts..The constant kill kill kill etc stuff)
To be honest this book bothered the hell out of me.

Darker an Different

First off, I’m a big Fan of the author, and when Remnant 3 comes out, I’m jumping on it.
But for me Remnant 2 wasn’t up to the usual standard. Still quite the good read, but just (mostly) missed the mark.
First, there was some time between books and I’ve read several other books, so remembering all of the details continually referenced, was confusing, as was some of the supporting character details. It would have helped having a quick summary or review of who, what and why things were what they were.
Second, the sex details were over the top, to the point that it took away from the story.
The storyline and characters are excellent and can stand alone with what’s going on, too much time was detailed on the descriptions of the sexual conquests.
Even with some inconsistencies, the main character (Steve) is quite entertaining. And I’m looking forward to book 3.

Steve is now getting a bit extreme and tyrannical

The MC in this tale is becoming a tyrant. It’s die or BJ with most women in this story. It started out with men being treated as objects to be owned used and sent to war, now Steve is gone the extreme opposite, he is taking possession of any woman that takes his fancy or will further his plans. Steve is getting meaner, the sex is going more S&M, and he is going from a nice guy doing what he needs to do, to a guy who will not handle opposition to him or his views/plans and have sex whenever he feels like it.

Warning: There is a LOT of sex in this book, die or BJ is a common theme. Also several characters from book one don’t survive this book.

There's always a Steve. I wasn't sure about this arc/series when I started it, but I find nothing to complain about in this book. It's progressing well, and if this follows the author's three book pattern we'll see one more with the tie-in to the rest of the "Runnerverse". I have my suspicions about where this world falls but I will say no more about that here; if anyone wants to discuss that in the comments though...

Anyway, if you liked the first one you'll probably like this one even more. I quite enjoyed it, and it earned its 5 stars based on that.

Still with no memories, trying to make his home better for his wife and himself.

Went to war with different towns and won each war and gained more and more land

One of the enemies ends up killing 5 of his wife and he and few other went to get revenge

I know it is unlikely the author will read this, let alone respond, but I have to ask if this book was written with the express intent of making me dislike literally every single character? And absolutely loathe the main character, Steve?

As I said in my review of book 1, I have no one to blame but myself. If book 3 doesn't improve dramatically, I'm just going to skip all these Darren penname books and find a wiki that tells me if there is anything worth knowing about the overall Runner universe or not, without having to read this trash.

I know from reading Super-Sales out of order that at some point the author decides to have his characters say more than "Dunno, don't care" followed by Steve Smash, so there's a little hope, but I am definitely becoming dumber on my journey to get there. If there were a drinking game that made me drink every time Steve said he doesn't care, I'd be dead long ago.

Oh, and having your character think, and then having dialogue from another character start up halfway through what they were saying, as if Steve wasn't paying attention (because...he doesn't care enough to pa attention! get it??) was "ok" the first time or two. Now it is super annoying, and is almost as common as Steve not caring. Stahp! 30 or 40 times of any "quirk" is way too many, and I still have another book to go!

Dammit, I wonder if this is what abused spouses feel like. Or most of the people Steve meets, now that I think about it.

Its 4.7 stars

One thing I dont get is the wife killing, no point in doing that in my opinion. There are plenty of others legitimate methods to motivate the main character. And it’s different from Wild Wastes where you can have Felix swoop in and resurrect everybody like some corporate Jesus.
Besides that it was good, more of the same and I’m fine with it cause that is exactly what I wanted. Some action, some sex, some humour. Now I just wanna know who that voice is, or to be precise, which other did he come from. I’m sorta betting on Runner cause of the creator things, but then it might as well be Zeus. I hope we will be told in the next book. And I’m also waiting for a W.Arand series from this universe, if there will be one. So yeah, good stuff, stop the wife killing and 4.7/5.

The book was going as if life was worth nothing as usual... Then the author pulled out his foot fetish. I'm now 100% sure that those bits I saw in his other books was not a coincidence.

I've finished the book and our protagonist is still angry. He still spews a bunch of literal nonsense (skull use among other things, but I guess him being angry means he isn't coherent?).

It looks like another big battle is being set up for the end of this trilogy (like all the author's previous books). The third book I will read, but this wasn't something that has me absolutely excited for what's to come.

It does seem though that the author didn't drop his quality further. Things even read like there was a little improvement. Maybe he is trying to separate his authorial personas into two entities once again.

A well-written violent action story

I think the story is well written and then the characters are very different from each other. There is a lot of violence in the world that the story is in and you can't help but feel sorry for those who are victims. It started out as just a guy just starting a farm wanting to protect his family and having to go through a lot of horror and challenges almost like a cultivation novel. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart or for those who are offended by the darker side of human nature. The story has a little bit of everything for everyone and like I said it does have a darker nature of humans and it also has a little bit of romance. As you as you read the story hold on to the seat of your pants and enjoy the ride.

Not sure, it's at Randis usual standard but....

Loook spoiler ok so don't read if you don't want to learn about the story.

Too many deaths for me it kinda upset me a lot Especially Kassandra she was one of my favorites, then the separation between Nikki and Steve, and Misty another of my favorites to. I don't know suddenly my interest going forward is gone. Reading the third book now seems like a chore when I think about it. Or honestly I must just drop it and hope I like his next series more.

An enjoyable listen. Harem and litrpg book with descriptive adult situations.

Steve is at it again with his enchanted tools and all his wives.

Steve > Human > no memories beyond this world, complains about shitty steve for taking said memories which he got enchanted tools for them. Keeps picking up women as he goes about trying to keep everyone safe on his farm. builds outpost, wives are killed, explore the "creep" lands, captures citadel leader(killer of wives), turns over to queen but queen pardons killer and steve leaves to build in the creep lands.

Second in the trilogy

Fantasy haremlit and gamelit light, with adult situations.
A bit dark, but Randi tends to write that way. Curious how it will be tied into the Runner universe, but I guess more will be revealed in book three. A lot of things to resolve ahead. This came out two days ago. I'm ready for book 3 already! Whaddaya mean ya have to write it? Oh, all right. I'll wait. If I have to. Recommended.

Wow dark and good

So this book is not for the faint of heart. Lots of sex and amoral activity. You know murder and mayhem without conscience. Still i enjoy it. Some of the murder grates me the wrong way but I see it as indicative of the amoral world they live in. And for that to change requires blood of the guilty. This book is also about building and creating an empire and legacy. I continue to enjoy this series and look forward to more books soon.

Steve the Brute

The Brute started thinking bigger and long term. While good ideas get started other than seeing who should be pregnant Fate decided to knock on his door just to leave a flaming bag of crap with a crown that needs to be fixed. Steve aims to put it out when a certain character swaps the bag for his heart. They need to understand that Steve will due WHATEVER needs to be done to protect the farm.

Randi you need to get the book 3 out asap!!

Umm ok

Mr Darren, I'm not sure about these books , I feel the premise is a little too deus ex machina. The mc is so grossly overpowered that there is really no challenges for him. I feel the in the interest of full disclosure that I should also say the mc is kind of a dick. You are better than these books. I.will.read number 3 in hopes of a twist or change of plot that will have made these books worthwhile.

The protagonist isn't likeable. His attitudes have problems, and thus his relationships have problems. All of this is the point. By acknowledging that there is innate conflict involved in having a harem, Arand writes a much more convincing story here than many of his others. Fostering Faust has a similarly flawed protagonist, and yet that doesn't seem to spill over into his relationships in any meaningful way.

Amazing

I don't think I've enjoyed an author as much as I do Mr. Arrand. Whichever pen name he uses, whichever series he's putting out, doesn't matter. All are awesome. I really enjoy how simple Steve Bril is, but the story in emotionally complex. Great juxtaposition there. I also can't wait for this to be tied into the larger narrative. Simply amazing!!!!!

So.. well.. um..

Once again this author shows his grasp of scene craft and story telling, though I was genuinely surprised at the direction the second installment went this time. A lot of unexpected results here.
Very curious and hopefully the third arc brings answers. Looking forward to it.

A wild ride!

A wild ride of a book, I think having actual loss added a lot of depth to the book and made it much more intriguing. Maybe have Nikki understand a bit more, she just seems to ignore everything Steve says doesn't feel like natural conversation. Hope the next one comes soon!

Different but still good

I feel like his other series faust starts off in a dark place and starts to get lighter as it goes. Whereas Steve in these books starts off in a good place and is slowly turning to the dark side. Still am enjoying the series though and am looking forward to the next one.

Poor Steve.

Second book in the series was great. To turn out the way it did for Steve was messed up. I wonder if the Commander knew that she was going to get pardoned? The city that Steve took in creep land is it a modern city? I really can’t wait for the next book to come out to figure out what the voice is.

This one expanded the world building hard. To the point where we start thinking how society presented in this world would work. It wouldn't. Or at least I can't imagine it would. It is one of a very few books that I was putting away for few weeks just to get through another 10-15 pages. Finally got through it. Can't give it a higher rating, just can't.
