Yikes. All I can say is yikes. Prepare yourselves.

If I was a less stubborn person, I would have DNF-ed this book. No question. It was not the book for me which is disappointing because I typically love stories that feature royalty and the hate-to-love trope.

From the start, I had major issues with the main characters. Whether it be from their individual personalities or their actions I'm not sure. Either way, I continued to dislike them no matter how hard I tried not to. Also, I understand this story is hate-to-love but the relationship seemed to go from hot to cold very quickly (and repeatedly). It seemed like everything was going fine when suddenly it was not. Even when the ice appeared to have thawed, there was namecalling that seemed immature and unreasonable.

I wish I could have liked this book more but it truly felt like a chore to read for the majority of the time. I found myself frequently losing interest and focus in the story which lead me to thinking about all of the good books out there that I could have been reading instead.

This was exactly what I was looking for, and I really liked it!

Cheesy? Maybe... but it was, also a very nice entertaining and feel good story.
It was such a cute and captivating fairy tale romance, and far from the typical predictable Cinderella royal books. It might not be all that original, but that was not really what I wanted from this kind of story anyway.
Bottom line, I enjoyed the heck out of it.

It takes place in Romy Sommer's Westerwald trilogy, but can very easily be read as a standalone.

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding was impossible for me to ignore when I saw it up on Netgalley for request. Who doesn’t want to read a light and fluffy royal romance? The royal romance trope matched my mood and was the perfect distraction from the chaos going on around me. That said, this book was a slight disappointment. I went in expecting fluff and instead got a lot of angst. I’m not opposed to some angst in character development but this felt over the top for the issues explored. Nevertheless, it was a light and quick read with a satisfying ending.

Characters:
KHARA – Made me so mad. Her constant premature judgement of others in an attempt to outline how unlike them she was really got on my nerves. In fact, almost all of the ‘rich’ characters in the book treated her with far more respect (despite her lack of money) than she showed them (because of their money). I mean… you can see how this would be frustrating to read, right? No one likes a hypocrite. She had a massive chip on her shoulder that never seemed to budge throughout the story and by half-way through the book her angst had officially driven me mad. Her character was the single reason I rated this book three stars instead of four.

ADAM – I loved him! He was entitled, selfish and utterly unmotivated. All of the things I’d usually judge a character for and yet… he owned up to every single one of his flaws. Adam was not a character inclined to blame others and live his life selfishly unaware. He chose to act the way he did with a full understanding of the implications and consequences. When he was forced in to a role that required him to consider the well-being of others, this created the perfect catalyst for his character development. The result was a heart-warming and believable progression from selfishness to selflessness. I think any reader would find it hard to dislike him!

Despite my dislike of Khara, the setting of the book was brilliantly done, highly engaging and made me want to jump in to see the historical and royal sites for myself. The pacing was fantastic and kept my attention throughout the entire story. It’s safe to say that with the exception of Khara, this book is a delightfully fun read.

Perfect rom-con movie!

Las Vegas waitress Khara Thomas is going to Europe to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s official wedding because his family doesn’t know they were already married in Las Vegas. Khara is paired with best man Adam Hatton who doesn’t realize that Khara has already met in him Vegas and thought he was a jerk but Adam helps Khara with everything so she doesn’t embarrass herself in front of everyone.

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is the follow on for Waking up in Vegas but is a stand-alone read. All the books in The Princes of Westerwald series are fun to read about the brothers and now the author adds a story about Adam finally falling in love for the first time while he is making a decision about his future.

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding would make a perfect rom-con movie!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I usually love a royal themed romance but this one was not my favorite. While I loved the setting and premise of the story, I had trouble connecting with Khara and found her to be annoying. Adam fell flat for me also. He was too shallow and entitled and was a jerk for too much of the book. I couldn’t really feel the chemistry between them. I also hadn’t read the Waking up in Vegas trilogy so I felt like I was missing something by not knowing Phoenix and Max. The formatting was also pretty bad and bothered me. However, this book still had some fun moments and was a light romantic read. 2.5 stars.

Khara a cocktail waitress in Vegas heads to Europe for her best friend’s royal wedding. While the wedding preparations are getting underway Khara runs into the arrogant and entitled bestman Adam who she happened to have met the year before and might just be the heir to a small country.

With the wedding date approaching Adam helps Khara get used to royal etiquette while both try to hide their building feelings for each other. My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is a sweet and funny slow burn romance that’s a perfect day read.

This was a cute and light-hearted quick read that I enjoyed more than I thought I would! The story sucked me in and I just kept reading even though I figured it was going to be a predictable ending. If you like Hallmark movies, this is a book for you.

Khara is a cocktail waitress in Vegas, working her way through college. Her BFF is getting married to a minor European royal and Khara is going to be the bridesmaid. She's used to grabby customers, drunks and frat boys who think she's easy pickings but the loud, obnoxious group of eurotrash trust fund kids take the biscuit, especially the one who just assumed she'd be grateful to sleep with him - arrogant pig.

Adam is minor eurotrash royalty, 'working' for his family's investment bank, sleeping his way round Europe, drinking and partying, until a friend's suicide acts as a wake-up call, but he feels powerless and guilty that he didn't know how bad his friend felt. Now he's best man at his cousin's wedding and intrigued by the bridesmaid who seems to regard him with disdain.

If you liked The Princess Diaries, especially the sequel, or The Prince and Me (again especially the sequel) then this is right up your street. Tiny European principalities, entitled (literally) wealthy minor royalty and plucky Americans falling in love. Of course Khara has a great work ethic and principles despite having been brought up in a trailer park by a single mum. Of course Adam is a waster, despite having parents who are hard-working and principled.

This felt like a very young book, as an over-50 I am definitely not the target audience but it was a fun read (and I am a closet fan of The Princess Diaries).

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding turned out to be a really good read. Author Romy Sommer brings humor and insight to a classic romance trope. Vegas waitress and college student Khara meets minor royal arrogant scumbag Adam at a casino dinner when she is his party’s server. He makes a terrible impression. A year later they meet again as maid of honor and best man at their mutual friends’ royal wedding. Adam has always relied on his charm to get his way, but Khara isn’t charmed...not one bit...well certainly not that she’d ever acknowledge, and she has a life plan. Adam’s royal uncle wants to make him his heir, but Adam hasn’t been in the small country in forever, and he has avoided responsibility for as long as he can remember. So we have oil and water and in Ms. Sommer’s capable hands the elements are shaken well with interesting situations, clever and often profound dialogue and yes, some heat. I totally enjoyed the time spent reading this delightful book and think you will also. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. Most highly recommend.

This book is cute, cheesy and and full of cliches but I really enjoyed reading it and it was filled with more depth than I was expecting.
Yes there is the poor girl - rich boy cliche and the arrogant selfish man changes for the girl cliche but I didn't care!
The book is well written with some very likeable characters and a few different storylines happening which meant it wasn't boring.
I love a royal theme and it lived up to the grandeur that I was hoping for.
There was quite alot of womanising and judgemental comments which I didn't enjoy. Especially when the main female lead was judging other women. It's 2020, surely there needs to be less female to female hate nowadays?
Despite this, if you enjoy a light hearted romance with a few steamy, then it is definitely worth a read.

Khara is invited to her best friend's wedding. In Europe. She must go because she is the bridesmaid. And of course, the Best Man is, gorgeous. And rich. And sexy as hell.
But she has met him before. He doesn't even remember that night. But he tried to spend the night with her one year ago. In Las Vegas. In the casino where Khara works.
So, saying that Khara is not very happy to see Jim is the understatement of the year.
Both their lives are going to get complicated during a month. Khara is living a fairy tale. And Adam has to face the most important decision in his life.
I liked the story. The banter between the characters is brilliant. And even though I haven't read the previous books, I didn't feel lost in any moment.

Oh my gosh! Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this great book! I loved, loved it. The book starts off where cocktail waitress Khara has to host a private party upstairs where she soon realizes that its royalty. While one creepy blond guy hits on her inappropriately, a gorgeous dark haired guy Adam comes to her rescue and oh my orders cheesecake. Fast forward a year where they meet again this time both standing up in a royal wedding. Great romance, loved the story line and the characters.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Generally speaking, I am not a fan of royal romances. In my personal opinion, not everyone can be Meg Cabot. My Best Friend's Royal Wedding sounded interesting enough that I picked up an ARC. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me.

The book started off well enough. Khara is attending her best friend's royal wedding in a fictional European country. Khara is the bridesmaid and the hero, Adam, is the groom's best man. It turns out that Khara had met Adam for the first time a year ago and he didn't leave a good impression on her. But Adam doesn't actually remember their first meeting. Khara is immediately prejudiced and it's pretty much hate to love on her part. As for Adam, he's determined to seduce Khara. You know...same old playboy trope.

Honestly, this isn't a bad book, but it was just a little too...superficial for my taste. I almost did not finish it because Adam and Khara were very obnoxious at first. Khara's entire personality is defined by "not being like other girls." She kept going on and on about how her goals and aspirations in life are so different from what other girls want in life....but in reality, her goals and aspirations actually align with what most women want in life lol. She also liked to call herself "mature," but she came across as very immature sometimes. As for Adam, his smugness was over the top and annoying. Luckily, Adam and Khara got more tolerable around the 30% mark. I think Adam is probably the only well-rounded character in this book. But even then, he is a walking cliche. What I did like was that Adam and Khara actually became friends, instead of enemies, before becoming lovers. But overall, I don't love them as a romantic couple and I was not invested in their romance. I actually preferred them as friends. Which is weird. Because this is a romance novel lol.

Also, it was so weird that when Adam proposed to Khara, she was actually dating someone else....lol....why.....

While reading this I felt like it was a "sequel" to other books set in this world, but Goodreads didn't say it was part of a series. But, after reading a review I realized that it is a spin off of the Westerwald series. You don't have to read the other books to understand this one, but it would have been nice to know.

But, anyways this book is light and kind of boring. I did not enjoy it that much since the two main characters are unlikeable. In a romance book I would like to at least be rooting for the charters, but since they were annoying I didn't care. Also, what chemistry? Adam was way too possessive and I hated the side "I have to teach this poor girl how to be among rich people" plot, it felt like he was talking down to her the entire time. But, Khara was no better she was rude to Adam. The entire time she (and everyone else in the novel) is pressuring him to be a ruler. Neither of them seemed to know anything about poor people/rich people which with the internet seems unlikely. Although, they are both self absorbed so maybe not.

Also, idk if it was my speed reading, but there seemed to be some plot inconsistencies. Especially with her blue hair and weather or not it had washed out.

Either way, I did not hate it. I wanted a light read and that is what I got.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

I went into this blind, not knowing that the MC’s of this story were the secondary characters in one of the author’s older books. I only found about this bec after finishing this ARC, I looked for MsSommer’s backlist hoping to find a book about Phoenix and Max (Khara and Adam’s best friends in this book). They were the characters who really captured my interest. And to be honest, this book feels like one whole extended epilogue to Phoenix and Max’s love story.

So while I liked reading about Khara and Adam, I only kept reading bec the setting of the story was during Phoenix and Max’s wedding. And bluntly speaking, I wasn’t crazy over Adam, the hero, because he was such a douche for most of the book.

So for fans of Waking up in Vegas (Westerwald Trilogy #1) by Romy Sommer , I think you’ll really love this story. Bec like I said, it’s one long epilogue and there are lots of cameos from the entire Westerwald series.

Khara is a cocktail waitress in a Vegas casino. Adam is a playboy who may or may not be next in line for a small country between Austria and Hungary. The two first meet in Vegas, where Adam propositions Khara. Disgusted with this douchebag who is obviously entitled, rich, and a rake, Khara refuses. Cut to a year later when Khara travels to Westerwald (another small European country) to be a bridesmaid in her friend Phoenix's wedding (she is marrying the Archduke of Westerwald even though she's a former waitress). Lo and behold, Adam is the best man. But while Khara remembers Adam's playboy ways, he doesn't recognize her. In the weeks leading up the wedding, Khara continually busts Adam's balls and refuses to be charmed by him. But how rock-solid is her resolution? Especially when Adam seems to be maturing and leaning into responsibility and adulthood before her very eyes?

My Best Friend's Royal Wedding is a fun romance. It's cheeky, and Khara is a great protagonist. And the dynamic character growth in Adam is a sight to behold. (Even if it does perpetuate the stereotype that women just want to change men.)

My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding is a sweet and enjoyable romance.

Khara is jaded when it comes to flashy arrogant wealthy men. She wants nothing to do with them but when she goes to Europe for her best friend’s wedding she cannot deny her attraction to the best man who exemplifies everything she avoids in a man. Khara and Adam both came into the story with misconceptions but I loved the growth of both characters in this story. The plot moved along quickly and its the type of book that is perfect for a light and fun read.

I was given a free copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Love love loved this book! It was sweet, light, and a perfect romance read. The chemistry between Khara and Adam is clear from the first time they meet, and you'll enjoy watching how it all plays out. If you like Hallmark movies or rom-coms, you'll love this. It plays into many of the stereotypes we've all come to know and love from those types of movies/books and it makes it a fun read!

I really enjoyed this book! It was a perfect, rom-com like story about two very, very different people falling in love and all the struggles that come with it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, but the story itself was funny and cute enough to make up for it.

The second I twigged that this book was the latest in the Westerwald series, I was incredibly happy, I do love Romy Sommer's adult fairy tales and this one is no exception.

I would say its the direct sequel to Waking Up In Vegas, as this story features front and centre Max and Phoenix's official royal wedding. And Khara has been asked to be the bridesmaid. Khara who lives in a trailer park and never left Vegas before, is suddenly getting a few weeks in Europe seeing just how the other half lives.

And it's best man Adam who tries his hardest to guide her when she is out of depth. Yet Adam isn't just some ordinary guy either and I really enjoyed seeing him try to become a better person, and see if he is going to step up into the new role he is considering.

I loved every moment of this book, the chemistry between Khara and Adam is very clear even if they are trying to deny it, and being able to catch up with the various members of the Westerwald royal family that I recall from the previous books was a joy in itself. Although this is the 5th book in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone, but I did love it all the more for having read the previous books.

Incredibly enjoyable and perfect escapism for these troubled times.

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily,

Fans of The Royal We and Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating, meet your next great Rom-Com in My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding!!

We first meet Kahra in Las Vegas, as she is working her job at a casino as a server. We get a little back story, and then flash forward a year and we find Kahra traveling overseas to be her best friend’s bridesmaid. Enter best man Adam... the will they won’t they banter back and forth is entertaining, and we see a true transformation during the month they are together - of both characters.

Romy Sommer’s writing is fresh, fun, sexy (not too crazy), and addictive. I breezed though this book in a day or two! I would love to see more of Kahra and Adam!!!

Thank you Net Galley and Harper Impuse and Killer Reads for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

I really cannot start this review without saying how much I disliked Khara. She was rude and close minded to everything and everyone I really didn’t enjoy this book fully because of her. Other than that, it was an alright story. Cute at times and boring at others. The “chemistry” that kept being mentioned was not apparent to me so that was a negative.

Overall, it just could’ve been better.

I love royal fiction, however I do always judge them against The Royal We (and now American Royals). While this is no where close to either of those two it was a simple enjoyable read. It did drag a bit but was wrapped up with a happily ever after bow in the end.

I was hoping for a cute royal romance when I picked My Best Friend’s Royal Wedding but it wasn’t what I expected and I was disappointed.
Khara was a waitress in Vegas, she was working hard to pay for her tuition and she was invited by her best friend, Phoenix, to be her maid of honor because Phoenix was marrying a prince.
Adam was a selfish douche, he was a rich guy that for the first time in his life was facing a hard choice in the midst of his best friend’s wedding, Max, that invited him to be his best man.
Honestly, I disliked Khara and Adam for the first half of the book or maybe even longer, I definitely didn’t warm up to Khara. She was so annoying, she kept judging everyone mainly because they were rich even before she set foot in the events or talked to people. I kind of get that she was used to see a lot of self entitled-grabby-drunk-rich guys going crazy in Vegas but she kept being judgy and whiny for most of the story, I can’t even recognize any self growth through the whole book, unless I count the fact she did give in to one of these guys she kept judging, Adam of course, but if that was supposed to be her growth… I don’t think it makes any sense so I’m not counting that. Adam was a selfish douche through most of the story but he was actually owning his flaws, he was perfectly aware of his way of life, he was mainly bored with it but he wasn’t interested in changing anything in his life. I didn’t really like him for most of the book but I actually liked his inner conflict about a choice he needed to make and I think that was the main reason I ended up enjoying the book. Adam had a lot of self growth during the story, even though it does take a while until we actually see it, I still enjoyed it. As a result of not liking the characters for most of the story, I didn’t care much for their chemistry and romance.
Overall, I enjoyed the setting, the pacing and how Adam’s character growth was done, so it ended up being an okay read.

This is an enemies to lovers sort of romance. For their first meeting, he didn't leave the greatest impression on her and when they meet again a year later, she is still carrying that anger with her. He doesn't understand the grudge she is holding and tries his best to win her over, which is no easy feat since she is a stubborn and head strong woman. In addition to the romance, she is trying to learn the royal protocol, which isn't an easy feat since she is a girl from a trailer park. He likewise has his own internal dilemma. One that will change not only his life, but the life of a country. This is a pretty clean read, but not squeaky. There are some humorous moments, but it's not really a LOL comedy. It is a bit of a roller coaster of emotions. Just when things start to go good between the couple, something happens to bring them down, though there aren't really any teary eyed moments. Mostly it goes from happy to confusion to angry to forgiveness... rinse and repeat. While I enjoyed the story, it seemed like at times it dragged along. I found myself taking more breaks than normal while reading. I did enjoy the characters, including the side characters (which brought along some of the comedy, and whom we learn enough about to want to go and read their books if you haven't already.)
