264 pages, hundreds of questions in mind while reading - Why? How? Who? and then OMG moments when you get the answers. I mean seriously I was like how come someone can write such an alluring story that you can't put it down without finishing it. Till the end it kept me hooked and I am still on thinking mode about what I have read, what I have understood and is it really possible? I have never read love being portrayed in such unique way. And this depth of love with full of thrills can only written by Novoneelchakraborty .. I have read almost all his books but this one is so different, a totally unique experiment of a love story. I still have few questions running in my mind and I think that's the beauty of any book that keeps you connected even after you have finished reading it.

And finally after reading the entire book, what I feel is mentioned as follows:
Did this ever happen to you that you start reading a novel with a firm perspective and at the end all your thoughts turned into a different one? If no,then you must go for Novoneel Chakraborty ‘s ‘Roses are Blood Red'.

Talking about a novel, first comes the plot which is just breathtaking in this case. You may start your journey through a dark forest that becomes darker as the story moves forward. But gradually you come to the end,you must feel that the author has arranged the light to wipe out the darkness of plot. You will find everything, like love, obsession, thriller as well as emotion. The way of storytelling may seem complex at first, but gradually it becomes so simple that one can understand every bit of it.

Now I want to talk about the characters. After reading book 1,the first question that comes to my mind is WHO IS VANAV THAKUR ACTUALLY? He is each and every time mysterious and strange in his behavior.Sometimes you may feel like he is just obsessed with the girl. But soon you start thinking that he loves the girl actually. As you start going deep and deep in his character, you may feel like you are slowly solving a puzzle in form of Vanav Thakur.Novoneel is at his best to portray the character of Vanav Thakur, and I really want to know whether he has lived the life of Vanav himself!  One will both love and hate Vanav Thakur at the same time. The author is successful enough to keep the readers busy in searching for the actual entity of Vanav.

The novel consists of three female protagonists, according to me. The limelight may be on Aarisha Shergill but the characters of Binny and Samidha should not be anyhow neglected. As I started reading,I didn't feel the necessity of the character named Binny, but as soon as I entered deep in the storyline the importance of this character grows up.In case of Samiha, she is like the alter ego of Vanav. She stands beside Vanav in every situation and proves herself an important one in this novel. And finally,Aarisha Shergill..The name around whom the entire story of Vanav is surrounding. In the portrayal of this character, Novoneel does not leave any suspense and twist for his readers. She is a simple girl throughout the novel, with so much complexities.By the way,is she a single one or…….that should be kept in suspense.

With all these positive sides, the novel lacks few things that I have noticed.Though it's completely my personal opinion, the end of the story or the revelation of the fact can be more intact.Actually I was expecting something different from the author. Vanav has done so much through his life only to live his dream. The  author can give him a chance to explain everything in front of Aarisha. Still at the end, everything falls into its perfect place..

So I would like to recommend ‘Roses are Blood Red' to all those, who always search for a book that contains thriller and love simultaneously. Thank you author for such a great attempt.Expecting more and more interesting storylines from you.

Love a vague idea having different notions among individuals. For some it do exist and for others it doesn’t but at the end of the day each and every individual hopes for it.
Imagine a world where your love is punching you, on your face, ribs, stomach. Undressing you and throwing an unknown semen on your body and abandoning your bare body on a road side. The idea is horrifying, it’s not a thrill. In a country where rape is no big deal, everyday a women is burnt alive or murdered after rape. We are talking about such a horrible idea in terms of love.

The first thing I would like to say is Novoneel Chakraborty is an amazing storyteller. The book is a masterpiece. The way he build the characters is just phenomenal. You will be confused about the character of Vanav Thakur but eventually you realize how much he loves Aarisha. The way he shows the character of Aarisha in past and present you just fell in love with the narration. There are two more characters Binny and Samiha, both of them love Vanav. I love the character of Samiha who fears crowd, who helps Vanav to get the most precious thing of Vanav's life into the world. This book shows what extent a guy can go for his love. Novoneel is one of the best authors when it comes to portraying characters. Each and every character gives you the same vibe which doesn't let you put the book aside. In the past, how Vanav fells in love with Aarisha is very unusual but very much impressive. The book has a magic. I can't describe how much I loved it. ❤️❤️

You read the plot and you would start hating Vanav Thakur, you read the book and you will end up feeling sorry for him.

Beautiful, easy, captivating story through and through, though at times it seems purposely made complex.

****************

The starting of this book was thrilling enough to make you go through the whole book. -This is the love story of Vanav and Aarisha. Vanav, is a person who fits the category of a 'perfect boyfriend' in the eyes of Aarisha. Even Vanav never misses a chance to make Aarisha feel special. But over perfection feels dubious at times, right?

The more I got into this book, the more exciting it gets with every pages. There is a quote in this book " I'll gift you a love story that every girl desires, but few get to live. " , which is not my favourite but I felt it so creepy and mysterious ,and this was the point that raise my expectation from this book. I enjoyed the writing style of this book. This was my first book by Novoneel Chakraborty and I am hoping to go through more books by this author.

Understood the plot halfway itself, but it was an okay read not bad..

Wish the author wrote something new and not always these so called psycho thrillers, this book reminded of his previous ones much with a lil addition of 'meaning of true love' blah bit..

He is famous for this but that doesn't mean all his characters have the same exact psycho bit in them - killing/bashing who troubled his girl, tracking the gf's phone, the so called romance part etc..

He did deviate in his previous novels if I remember and I was glad, but with this book it's back again to square one..

Fingers crossed for the next one!

A very disturbing read...

I decided to buy and read this book because I like the author..

But.. The intro of the book was damn traumatizing...
There were times when I wished I stopped reading the book, but I just couldn't..
I even had nightmares those night...

One thing I found common between the men of the books I've read so far is that, all are psychologically affected and due to deep depression they tend to do stuff to keep themselves happy and content...

I fail to see Vanav's love for Arisha, whom Vanav seem to adore..

I really wish I hadn't read this book..

I am speechless. Not because of the story but because of the way author described love. The author is so good with the words that even while he was describing a toxic relationship I couldn't bring myself to hate the character. The twisted ways in which a person's mind work when they are madly( i mean literally) in love.
I removed 0.5 because as a thriller it lacked certain amount of suspense. And also I didn't like how it all ended.

Needless to say I finished this book within 24 hours.. one hell of a page turner.. feeling of unconditional love is expressed in such a beautiful way.. the reason am not giving 5 star is because I have an unanswered question..I was looking for an answer until the end but for some reason the author hasn't cared to explain that (why did author put first chapter of Tosh??).. I have been mulling over this question since the time I finished it..even googled it trying to find the logic..but no luck..🤔

Overall a wonderful read.. 👌

"I hope nobody ever loves me like Vanav loved Aarisha." This was my first thought when I completed the novel.

The writing style that the author used is top notch. I couldn't not keep the book down willingly. Such an intriguing and interesting story line it has. Mind blowing plot and plot twists.

Hey guys, I'm back with another book review of 'ROSES ARE BLOOD RED'
📚
Genre- ROMANCE/SUSPENSE.
📚
"I'll gift you a love story that every girl desires, but few get to live."
📚
Oh boy... Once again my favourite author person (Novoneel Chakraborty (Author)) has left me speechless and in deep emotional turmoil.
I literally skipped my dinner because I was in such an emotional pain that I could think of anything. I literally felt numb.
So, I took a good time to manage my thoughts about this book.
I didn't cry but was on the verge more than once.
The way this author person describes love or any emotions that is felt by us humans is just... Wow. It feels as if he completely knows what he writes and mean every single word of it.
📚
So... This book is 264 pages long which holds the love story of Captain Dr. Vanav Singh Thakur and Aarisha Shergill.
(I fell in love 💖 with Vanav through this journey of my reading this book.)
Think you love someone so much. More than anything in this world?
A heart wrenching story that can question your love for your loved ones.
This book has everything... Love, action, mystery, suspense and thrill.

Novoneel never disappoints when it comes to giving his audience a book which binds them till the end and so did this book. The thrill and suspense was great everywhere, just like every other book I have read of his. Similarly, just like every other book I have read of his, the building up of chemistry, the portrayal of romance, the so called romantic talks between two people. It is just too DUMB!
Apart from that I don't have any problem in his book, yeah I may have not read it like a critique but there were some dialogues which people generally don't say to people if we compare it to real life but maybe he did it because he wanted to make it different.
The plot building in this book was quite new for me and its good that he brings a newness in his every book. Just like that I hope he learns to build up a relationship in a new and mature way.

Love. True love. Soaking in the tears. The hidden truth. The trauma. The inner scream. Heart in your mouth. You are drowned in shock with the fear of unknown. And finally it's Novoneel's book!

No matter how much I try to praise author's work, simply I can't. In fact, I loved the way author lets us delve deep into the whirlpool of some unpredictable journey of any relationship hiccup that objectifies one's emotional turmoils as well as dark romance behind the progressive male chauvinism of the story.

More questions in reader's mind, more suspence in author's writing. And this book is a soul-searching layered and slow-burn read.

The entire storyline hinges on one and one twist only. Reads like a movie script and no, it's not a compliment. Forgettable one time read. If you just need some mindless reading for a few hours, I guess it does the job. There are some authors whom you read only to never read anything by them again, like Chetan Bhagat.

Again a great set of writing. The story keeps the reader curious throughout the end. Even I was very much curious to know the end but the ending was very disappointing for me. I think there could have a much better interpretation and a more digestible end.
Overall a must read book.

Roses are blood read is a story which tells about Obsession. The book is a romantic thriller and the first book in Obsession trilogy.

Book is divided into three parts :
Book 1 - The Present
Book 2 - The Past
Book 3 - The Present

While reading prologue, I was not at all able to understand a single thing and got a bunch of confusion in the initial pages. Then the story starts with the present time when the protagonist, Vanav Thakur met his love of his life Aarisha Shergill and things took a dangerous twist and something happened which changed their lives. The Past unfolds the time where Vanav and Aarisha met for the first time. Vanav used to call Aarisha as Ranisa, which means Queen, in rajasthan, is girlfriend of his cousin Daksh and they both came for few days in Vanav's home. Vanav is a school going boy who starts getting a kind off attraction towards Aarisha. Vanav did not know when this attraction became love and then obsession for him. He never touched, confessed anything to his love.

The Past part unfolds many things where you will start getting goosebumps in each and every page. Book 3 is the climax part which answered so many things. I was not at all aware that the bomb is yet to explode in other parts after reading Book1. You will find about other characters like Binny, Samiah, Shubh as well. The story is a dark or intense romantic thriller, not at all a cheesy or an ordinary romance , you will find a different side of love here that how far a person can go for his love. What a true love can make a person do things is shown here. The book is having intense emotions, romance, madness, obsession, mystery, thriller and suspense. I still find few things which resembles from The Stranger Trilogy but the stroy is completly different and unique.

There were few things mentioned which are practically not possible and may be some of you may find it unrealistic. Thakur sahab or Vanav thakur, loved Ranisa to that extent that he can do anything for her even harm any third person for that as well . He was extremely caring, respect and love her but on the other hand, can harm anyone who harms his love. This is what I find triggering at some places. Rape is also mentioned in the book which may trigger some people. The storyline is unique, characters and narration is amazing. I want all thriller lovers to read this book at least once. The book is a one time read and is fast paced.
I tried not to give any spoliers in the review, incase you find it confusing, I apologise and want you to give this book a try.
Vanav was Aarisha's perfect boyfriend, dream boyfriend of every girl but things changed, her life got changed and she regret meeting Vanav now. Why? Read this book to know the truth!

Roses Are Blood Red!

Quite curious intriguing title huh?! Well yeah! That's what had driven me to buy this book at the first place. But even then, I did not realize that it would be such a mind blowing piece of storyline. Trust me when I say that word " Mind Blowing ". Because, it definitely will blow your mind, once you get to the end of it. Wish I could give spoilers but neither you will like if I give any nor would I choose to. So, let's stick to the non-spoiler review for now! At least until you decide to get the book & read it by yourself,
Okay ?
Okay !!
So, my review goes somewhat like this..,, Have a fun time reading it !!😀😄

Roses Are Blood Red is a thriller from it's very first line. You will get to start the book with few questions in your mind. What? Sorry? How? AFTER the very first page itself. And then, you will never get the answers till the very last bit of the book.

Secondly, It's written in such a way that you will be sure you are right at certain places but then, right after that you will come to know that you were wrong ! The story takes twists & turns more quickly than an Airplane moving. I know I exaggerated a bit but trust me it's a really good thriller to read & it actually deserves that exaggeration.

It's a love story beyond today's time. It's terrific yet satisfying. At some areas you will know that things are wrong, the way the characters do things are not right but it still will feel so right that you would want that in your life & be in the fictional reality every time you take the book to read.

Though tbh, there are places which are really not quite related to the reality but who cares? We read to get lost somewhere else, in some other world, right?

Lastly to summarize for this review,
It's a thriller at every point. So for someone who loves thriller & only thriller this is a perfect one. Though I would say there are more great thrilling books for sure but it isn't a competition! This book is a good one in its own way! I really liked the way it has been written & the story has been brought into life. The way it's written just gives it a more real & natural vibe! This book will keep you busy & consumed until you finish it, for sure! There are few things to learn as well.

Thankyou for reading the review! :)

Rare Eternal Love

Psychological romantic thriller.
The Story is about the true love between Vanav Thakur and Aarisha Shergill in the memories of the time.
A unique gripping story that gives insights on unconditional love, real friendship, insecurities, marriage, gender roles, social issues, loneliness, pain, guilt, trust, the power of silence and the difference between a bond and a relationship.
A soul-searing story with hidden truths, mystery, unexpected surprises and twists.
Wonderfully narrated what true love is by striking the chord with the right amount of emotions and exploring in-depth the relationship between the loved ones.

It is divided into 3 parts.

Book I: Clueless about what is happening in the present with the characters with a lot of questions arising in our minds while we read.

Book II: Discover what happened in the past which affected the present.⁣

Book III: Enquiries, Analysis, and Investigations to find out the hidden truth and the Revelations which provides answers to all our questions.

Intense Plot gives you goosebumps to know their darker secrets and touching climax.

The technical aspects are well researched. The magic of his writing is commendable.

I loved the epilogues in the end which vividly describes each person's emotions.

Loved these lines from the book:

The perils of adulting, she always told herself, whereby one starts believing that one’s immediate priorities are the only important things in life.

How we belong to people, and people belong to us, can’t always be defined.

Love is the simultaneous infliction of pain and the invasion of the divine fragrance. And it is entirely your choice which aspect you focus upon: the thorn or the blossom.

Moments are life’s building blocks. And if you spend every moment with the one you love, life seems complete, fulfilling.

It's a story that'll stay with you...

This book gave me goosebumps in the prologue, and as the story progressed, I kind of started hating Vanav. I don't care why he did what he did, but you can't bend so low by saying you did that for love! I know it's just a character, but that damn psychopath had triggered me to the core of my brain! I even don't sympathize with such men who are obsessed and possessive in such a way that they go blind when it comes to what's right and what's not! The writer did a great job with this book; the thriller suspense part was good, but I still hate that maniac character!

This was my second Novoneel Chakraborty read—and oh boy, I did NOT regret it!!
Right from the very first page, the story pulls you in. It’s like being thrown into a world of mystery, love, betrayal, and secrets—with no time to catch your breath. I absolutely loved how the book started with a BANG—that classic fast-paced, suspenseful build-up that Novoneel is known for. I was instantly HOOKED!!

But… let’s keep it real here. Somewhere around the middle, I did feel like it was stretching a little bit.
(Like… get to the point already!! Why are we circling around the same thing? Give. Me. The. Twist. 😩)
Just as I was beginning to wonder if it was losing steam—
BAM!
Plot twists came crashing in, the suspense intensified, and I was sitting there like—
“Wait, WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! WHO EVEN ARE YOU?!”
Mind. Blown. 🤯

The story revolves around Vanav and Aarisha’s complicated love story, and nope—I’m not giving you anything more because spoilers, my friend. 🤐
But I will say this—if you love that Bollywood-style suspense, where romance and thriller blend with larger-than-life emotions, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU.
It had that cinematic feel—like watching a mysterious drama unfold on screen. You’ll keep turning the pages, needing to know what comes next.

Novoneel’s writing is intense, emotional, and full of psychological depth. He really knows how to toy with the reader’s mind—make you trust a character one moment and question everything the next. And the ending? Classic Novoneel. Leaves you shaken, stirred, and lowkey obsessed.

If you’re into psychological thrillers with a desi twist, emotionally layered characters, and unexpected turnarounds—
Add. This. To. Your. TBR. NOW.

So, let's start from the beginning. I wanted to start reading latest books by Indian authors so that I can review and judge the books by my liking. This book was on preorder and I and my roommate pre-ordered it asap. I started reading it on 30th December, 2019 and finished it on 1st Jan, 2020. So technically it was my first read of year 2020.... And... I ABSOLUTELY HATED it.

Things I didn't like:
1) It was too preachy as it had so many quotes and so many preachy moments.
2) I hated the characters and their dynamics.
3) The ending was kinda ok but the way twists unfoldsed was not at all good.
4) the story was not at all convincing.
5) so many " what the heck is this " moments for me and they made me go crazy and angry.
6) lots and lots of plot holes in the story and I couldn't find myself engaging with characters and the story.

Things I liked :
1) Easy read for new reader.
2) Author worked hard in building the story and the twist but as I said .I didn't like it.
3) some good points were made during all those preachy instagrammable quotes but as I said these were too too many. Sometimes I felt that every paragraph has at least one quote. And that's too much for me.

This is my review and my opinion for the book. This is not at all any kind of attack on the author. I appreciate his hard work and time he has put on but I was disappointed as it was my first time reading this author and I heard a lot about how good his books and how good of an author he is.

Thanks a lot for reading the mini review!!!

'Everyone has an edge. And if you are afraid of bleeding because of that edge in the other person, then you can’t claim to have loved the person'

'Roses are blood red' is story of Aarisha and Vanav. The book is divided in 3 parts : present, past and present.

There is no limit of how deep and passionate someone can love. Vanav's love for Aarish was the purest form of love. Even though he knew she was never going to be with him, still he loved her without any expectations or demand. All he wanted was to know if she is in pain or not. And if she was in pain , he tried to inflict same pain on himself, just because he wanted to share her pain as he couldn't share her happiness and it connected him with Aarisha. Vanav's story is written so commendably that it totally caught me. I was feeling so emotional and distressing for him. Binny and Samiha's characters were also well written.

I sometimes couldn't understand Vanav. His desire to keep Aarisha in his life made him something else, which showed how dangerous his love could become. And eventually it resulted into his obsession. However I wasn't much satisfied with the end but it doesn't matter because I think this book has fulfilled the purpose of connecting the reader.

I loved bookcover. It is very attractive. I was very hooked with this book. Last two parts made me so curious that I couldn't keep my hands off the book. I liked this unique and tragic story of love and sacrifice so much. This book is going to take the reader in whole new world for sure.

So this book is about Vanav tlThakur and Aarisha Shergill. Vanav first saw Aarisha as his cousin's girlfriend, who eloped and took shelter in Vanav's house. Later in the story Aarisha got married to a guy named Shubh, and settled in US. And some days later Shubh and Aarisha met with an accident and they both made free from personhood. So now u guys will ask me where is the love and romance part. To know that you have to read the book.

@novoneelchakraborty
Is my all time favorite author. Through his books he always taught me some lessons that none will ever be able to. From this book I learnt that love is not fragile that it will break if someone cheats on you with someone else. Your feelings are always yours and only yours can change your feelings towards someone you love, not their bad action. So I can conclude that this is the best lesson of my life in 2019.

💫Love is the simultaneous infliction of pain and invasion of divine fragrance. And it entirely your choice which aspect you focus upon; the Thorn or the blossom

💫 Togetherness is as transitory as the cigarette. Sooner or later it ends. And all of us doggedly seek a permanence in the transitory experience.

I m totally in love with this book and the author @novoneelchakraborty ♥️

Rating- 5/5
