In this fabulous exploration of the Cornish Celtic Otherworld, Cheryl Straffon shares stories, myths, and legends of supernatural beings such as fairies, piskies, mermaids, witches, giants, and other strange and wonderful creatures. These expertly told stories will help you transform your perspective on the traditional integration of spiritual energies so that even the mundane world will become more magical.
A nice overview of Celtic mythology, but ultimately lacking in its title theme. Very little of the information presented in the book is Cornwall-specific. And I do understand that there are reasons that specific information to be scarce.
But overall it was a collection (well written!) of essays that gave a big overview of Celtic myths and legends with some occasional Cornish flavor. I was hoping for a more up close and detailed exploration then the general overview presented here.
An enjoyable, pleasant read with good information! But ultimately a little misleading and not as comprehensive as I was hoping for.
If you're looking for a good overview of Cornish myths and how some of the old stories could be broken down to find whatever clarity we can glean from it, then this is a good book for that. I knew a lot of the source material that was being used from this book and the writer really does a good job at dissecting those sources and adding them to this book.
A good overview of Cornish myths and such but did not seem particularly well researched? Idk I had fun reading this high with my friends but reading alone and sober it was mehhhh
