From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery, now writing wholesome romance as Katy Paige...
In the state of Montana, there is a little-known legal loophole that provides for double proxy marriage, should a bride and groom be unable to say their wedding vows in person.
Small-town schoolteacher, Jenny Lindstrom, agrees to take wedding vows on behalf of her best friend, while city slicker, Sam Kelley, promises to stand in on behalf of his cousin, the groom. But when these two unlikely proxies end up missing their appointment with the judge, they're forced to spend a long weekend together.
Despite their differences, they find themselves drawn to each other: Sam finds Jenny's unaffected wholesomeness refreshing, and Sam's gentle teasing fills Jenny with a longing she has never known.
But when a supermodel ex, a very handsome principal, and three over-protective older brothers start meddling, will our sweet country mouse and slick city mouse find a path that leads to happily-ever-after?
Set against the snowy backdrop of Gardiner, Montana, Proxy Bride is the perfect holiday read for fans of hot chocolate, warm gingerbread, and the magic of Hallmark Christmas movies!

My reading resolution for this year is to give up on bad books, so I’m giving up on this one.
I won this in a giveaway so I wanted to give it a real chance, but it’s really pretty bad.
The premise is silly and that’s not a problem, but the writing made me cringe. We can read the thoughts of the two main characters and they are ... ew... We are supposed to believe that the female character is innocent and religious but she doesn’t talk like that’s her deal. And the main character is a misogynist.
What a delightfully romantic read this was! Jenny was adorable and Sam was absolutely charming! And their story is a heartwarming one.
Two lovable characters who meet because they’re doing favors - for Jenny’s best friend and Sam’s cousin. Each of them with different lifestyles, from different cities. Can they get along, can they put their differences aside? Can love win?
Sam’s tardiness to their appointment, and also his arrogance, make for a rough start to their meet cute. But it didn’t take long for me to fall, I was smitten with them both.
After spending the weekend together, making the best of a somewhat bad situation, sparks fly, hand-holding and kisses ensue, and love weasels its way into their relationship. So many feel-good moments!
With Jenny’s big heart and Sam’s determination, these two were bound to find a way to be together. I loved how after just a few days together, they both fell hard. And so did I.
This well-written story had me smiling, gave me warm fuzzies, and has me believing love always wins. Such a sweet, Christmas-y love story!
Jenny would do anything for her best friend and that includes being the proxy bride when her friend can’t be there. Sam has been asked by his cousin to be his proxy groom but fate and circumstances have delayed him so now he finds himself spending time with the proxy bride for the weekend until the ceremony can be rescheduled.
Jenny and Sam have nothing in common except for the feelings they develop for each other but what happens when the weekend draws to a close?
Two strangers, one weekend and all the feels as we realize that fate has a bigger plan and some things are meant to be.
When you have a fantastic storyline, with characters that will wrap you in their journey, you really don't need extra embellishments. Read this new series by Katy Regnery writing as Katy Page and you'll understand what I'm talking about.
I have to admit that I didn't know what a proxy marriage was, but after reading this book I find it very interesting. Jenny Lindstrom agrees to marry a complete stranger on behalf of her best friend, but when that handsome stranger is late for the marriage on a Friday afternoon, they have to wait until Monday morning to fulfill the promise they made to their friends. Can two complete strangers who would seem to have nothing in common fall in love and start a life together?
Well, the story is a bit more complicated than two strangers falling in insta-love , but Katy takes us through their journey and makes us think, what if? I related to Jenny so much, like her I'm not a girl who likes the craziness of a big city, but I'm a girl who would give anything for her family, just like Jenny did. She's loving, a great daughter, sister and friend, a teacher who loves and cares for her students, she's sacrificed so much for those she loves and she deserves the world and then some. Sam is successful, he has his choice of ladies to accompany him wherever he wants to go or do, but deep down he's lacking the connection all of us humans desire and look for, even if we don't admit it. These two are perfect for each other, but sometimes things are just not that simple.
This is a beautiful, touching story. I can honestly tell you that it touched my heart, my soul. It's beautifully written and the character development is just perfection. If you're looking for a feel good story this is it. Love, love, love.
Proxy Bride is a delight. With captivating characters, humorous twists and a heartbeat that never quits, Paige makes a stunning first impression. Sam and Jenny are about to learn a valuable lesson. When a friendly favor brings these two strangers more than they bargained for, chaos ensues. Marriage was on the agenda. She's the stand-in bride, he's the stand-in groom, but nobody ever said anything about love being part of the deal. Paige dreams up a laugh out loud, cry your heart out, over the top, fall in love romance.
I absolutely adored this sweet romance! The story was really different and original.
Jenny is a kind, sweet small town girl. When Sam arrives in town to do a favor for his cousin he is completely bowled over by the pretty girl waiting nervously at the courthouse and he never recovers.
“How does she keep doing this? Cradling my heart in her hands?”
Proxy Bride takes place during Christmas time, but it’s not just a Christmas romance. It’s a story to read again and again all year long.
In Proxy Bride ~ The Lindstroms ~ Book 1 uses a little known law in Montana that people can marry with a Proxy Bride. In the story Jenny Lindstrom is standing in for her best friend because the friend is deployed in Germany and Sam Kelly comes from Chicago to stand in for his cousin, who is also deployed in Afghanistan.
A snowstorm makes Sam late, the judge leaves early for the weekend, Jenny's car spins out on black ice and lots of misunderstanding and the differences between a man with a high power job in the city and a small town school teacher makes a relationship developing and working after one weekend highly unlikely, but...
Your just have to read Proxy Bride to enjoy a great romance full of fun.
While the author gave convincing reasons for why Jenny and Sam had no future together, she never gave me much reason to like Jenny. We see Jenny angry in the beginning and sympathize with Sam when Jenny unloads on him, and further when he calms her after her spinout. Jenny's dog improves her image, but she continues as a judgmental, stubborn, short-sighted person in between her better times. I had a couple problems matching up story events, especially when Jenny watches the sunset a short time after it's been such a bad snowstorm that Sam is an hour late, but also when her golden retriever puppy is described as tiny. While Jenny needs help seeing her way to improving her life, Sam figures it out for himself and takes the necessary steps to reunite with her. Jenny and Sam's attraction is depicted as mostly physical, another of my objections to so much romance fiction today.
Honestly, the main female character was so immature and silly, I just couldn't get past it. I felt like I was reading about a 12 year old.
I understand this was meant to be a wholesome book, but good grief. Fellowship night, fellowship camp, yikes. And being a virgin doesn't make you a good person (she's not) or stupid (she is).
I kinda hated this book, which is disappointing. I love Katy Regnery's other series. This was a DNF for me.
As a new blogger imagine my excitement when my first review request from an author comes through my email. It also just so happens that the description of the book includes my two favorite things, Romance and Christmas. Oh did I mention it features a military couple, which is obviously close to my heart because I am an Army spouse. I'll admit I was nervous because what if this book is bad and I can't give a new author love? I love giving love....
Now imagine me as I do a happy dance because the book turns out to be anything but a disappointment!! Yay!!
I love a well-written sweet romance and this is definitely that.
Sam & Jenny meet under strange circumstances but are instantly drawn to one another. They end up having to spend the weekend together but quickly decide to make the best of it. They both realize pretty quickly that the weekend just might not be enough but neither of them is willing to give up their lives in very different cities. Sam can tell that Jenny isn't completely happy in Gardiner but she lets him know pretty adamantly that she isn't meant for big city living and doesn't want to leave her family behind. Sam sees this as a declaration that they simply aren't meant to be. After a heated argument they part ways. Will the love they've discovered with each other be enough to sacrifice their old lives or are they destined to give up on the most real thing they've ever had? I'm looking forward to the next books in this series. I'd love to read more about Lars, Erik and Nils (& Maggie) and maybe even an HEA for Paul? *hint*
If you love sweet romances set in small towns (ie Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis, Fools Gold series by Susan Mallory, Lakeshore Chronicles by Susan Wiggs) then this is the book for you. PS. I LOVE the cover!
*I received and ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review
Jenny Lindstrom and Sam Kelley met in unusual circumstances and didn’t exactly hit it off at the start. Things change but there are quite a few issues that cropped up in Jenny’s small town. I particularly liked her three big brothers grilling poor Sam. 😆
The whole small town community feeling was described extremely well in Proxy Bride. Meeting local characters adds a touch of colour and warmth, everyone knows everyone of course. Their caring and supportive attitude to one of their own was wonderful. An old fashioned place like Gardiner has old fashioned ideas too and I loved the concept of the Christmas Stroll, where people safely walked along the town’s main thoroughfare and everywhere was decorated and festive.
Light humour is sprinkled throughout the story as well as some fantastic descriptions of the scenery in Montana. It certainly made my feet itchy to hop on a plane and visit.
This insta love story is a very sweet romance and leaves you feeling great.
Note: An ARC was provided by the author via Wildfire Marketing Solutions.
My favorite thing about this book was the concept, which one of the more original story lines I've come across in years. For you curious people out there, let me save you the trouble of Googling--yes, Montana does, indeed, allow for double-proxy marriages. Take that idea and add in the whole country versus city angle and this series starter made for some heartwarming reading. Jenny and Sam had their first impressions of each other, and they weren't exactly all that great, so seeing them discover the most real version of the other person was part of the charm of the book. As opposite as these two may have been, I loved that they not only found things they had in common but also realized that their differences weren't enough for them to not have a future together. This was certainly a strong start to the Lindstroms series and has me looking forward to the books to come. 4.5 stars go to Proxy Bride. ♥

This is the first book in The Lindstroms series. It is a cute romance that takes place in a small town. Sam has come to Montana to be a stand-in for his cousin, Kristan, stuck in Afghanistan. Jenny is there as a stand-in for her cousin, Ingrid, at a different location overseas. Kristan and Ingrid want to get married but needless to say can't get back to Montana. The wedding was supposed to take place on Friday. Circumstance have them waiting until Monday to complete the proxy wedding.
Some say it only takes a moment to know. Some say it can take less than a week. Who knows what will happen in a small town where everyone knows Jenny. She has three older brothers. She is a school teacher. She has only been kissed a few times and nothing else. Does any of it matter? Sam leaves on Monday.
The romance has laughs, teasing, and so much more. By Proxy is a nice easy read that brought a smile on a bad day. The smiles just kept on coming.
Reading the reviews here it feels very "believe what I tell you" - sadly, my brain didn't play along.
Sam is late and dismissive and Jenny is angry but the author makes it sound like bc Sam was like OOPS SORRY for ruining everything wasting her time and making her take an extra day out of school during midterms reviews that Jenny is in the wrong for being upset. Jenny even starts to believe it.
And at first it was like, Well, he didn't know the drive in snow in montana would be that bad (really, like my cousin in florida assumes everyone north of the mason dixon is driving in snow storms from october to march soooo) then we find out HE'S FROM THERE - so he had to know
then he goes all whore/madonna and I was out
It went down hill from there for me.
Sam's internal dialogue about his lifestyle and his attitude and the fact that Jenny who did nothing wrong and was sweet as pie to everyone was the negative character just... I had to stop at about 30%
I was given a prompt of the word ”two” and I searched that on my kindle library and found a box set of this one combined with the next book in the series. I had not read from this author before, but it was listed as wholesome in the description.
Upon reading this book I found that there was more language and innuendo than I was expecting. They name body parts, they talk about a previous partner’s desires and experience in the bedroom, and some of that just got to be a little much and I didn’t care for how it fit. Especially as there is Christianity woven in and things just seem to not match up very well.
Our hero is a businessman from Chicago and our heroine is a small town girl in Montana. Now, I did really enjoy the marriage by proxy idea. I have never heard of that and it was really an interesting and intriguing premise. I also enjoyed the Norwegian heritage that was woven in. I rated this a 3.5 and rounded it down to a 3.
A really unique concept with Sam and Jenny standing in as proxies to allow their friends to be married legally. Circumstances force them to spend more time together than expected and sparks fly between the two of them.
The author did a nice job of making Sam and Jenny feel realistic, faults and all. I sometimes was a bit frustrated with some of the decisions they made, but nothing they did felt out of character and both grew a lot by the end of the book.
There were some really sweet moments both romantic for Jenny and Sam and familial between Jenny and her brothers and father. I especially loved the mantra her mother taught her that she would repeat to herself.
I look forward to reading more about the Lindstrom family as the series progresses.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Jenny and Sam’s story is so sweet, and, sad. I can relate to both of them. Its not easy losing someone and trying to move forward. Whether if its losing them to death or breaking up with them. You move forward and that is what Sam and Jenny have done. Family is everything to do them. That’s how they end up meeting. They are the proxy to Ingrid and Kristian for their wedding day. They are in different parts of the world serving our country. Sam and Jenny fight their feeling and go through obstacles also. I really enjoyed the hometown feel of this story that is set in Montana. Its about community. This story pulled me in, I felt like I was part of it. Made me want to be part of a small town. Thank you united indie for allowing me to read this book.

Proxy Bride is a fabulous contemporary romance by Katy Paige. Ms. Paige has provided readers with a well-written book populated with outstanding characters. Jenny promised her friend to be her proxy bride because she has been deployed. Sam promised his buddy that is deployed that he would be his proxy groom. Sam and Jenny meet for the proxy wedding and find they're too late and have to return the following week. Sam and Jenny's story is loaded with drama, humor and spice. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Katy Paige in the future. Proxy Bride is book 1 of The Linstroms Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
Mostly likeable characters and a decent story. Jenny starts off a bit too rigid and judgmental but she realizes that she is being unfair and she apologizes. Basically every time she does something that aggravates me, she eventually owns it and apologizes and tries to do better. I liked the character growth here. I found Sam’s life in Chicago repellent to be honest. His “friends” are all absolutely disgusting. It seems odd that he would ever have been friends with them. That was a bit of poor characterization. The Sam we got to know wouldn’t have ever been friends with these one dimensional villains.
This unusual, yet very sweet romance warmed my heart.
I loved Jenny's innocence and freshness; and I liked that Sam was in no huge hurry to corrupt Jenny while he got to know her. The plot was very intriguing - something I knew nothing about - and I was thoroughly charmed and entertained throughout.
I recommend this book. It's a nice reminder that love doesn't pick a particular place or time; it just happens whether you're ready or not.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an ARC of this book.
I enjoyed this heartwarming story. I enjoyed falling for the man that Sam was. I liked watching him change his world for the girl that captured his heart.
Jenny was sweet and a little sheltered. I found that quality to be intriguing and interesting. I liked that she came home to take care of her responsibilities, but it bothered me that at times I felt like she allowed the family to walk on her.
I enjoyed reading this sweet book. I loved the setting and I enjoyed reading a new to me author. I look forward to more from Katy Paige.
Proxy Bride The Lindstroms bk 1 by Katy Paige aka Katy Regnery. Being a huge Katy Regnery fan I was looking forward to this, and I was not disappointed. Proxy Bride is excellent spellbinding and a heart searching and warming read, and is written beautifully, Sam and Jenny are both standing in for her friend and his cousin taking their vows. Sam is from Chicago and Jenny from Gardiner Montana, will they find their HEA? CRab your copy today and you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this 5*+
This was a clean, short story about Jenny and Sam who meet in Montana. They are both standing as proxy bride and groom for a friend (Jenny) and a cousin (Sam). They clash as soon as they meet but when the proxy wedding is postponed, Sam is forced to stay the weekend which they spend together and land up falling in love. Both characters were well developed and relatable, both had faults but were willing to put their pride in their pocket. This is a heartwarming book and the start to a series. They have their HEA and this book does not end in a cliffhanger and can be read as a standalone.
I don't ever want to be negative about an author's hard work and I understand the long arduous process when it comes to writing a book, but sometimes I come across things that I can't hold back comment on. The synopsis of this book seems so creative and interesting that I so badly wanted to enjoy it. I've waited a few days after returning it to KU, but even after not finishing this book, her POV is still in my head and bothers me so I need to say something. I've added a few highlighted parts at the beginning of this book that forced me to not finish it. There are very negative parts in the book on larger body sized women here that couldn't be ignored.
