There’s a smokin’ hot dead guy locked in my garden shed. That part’s bad enough. But now, he’s trying to get out.
Growing up, my father always told me that I’d come to a bad end, just like my mom did when I was a kid. Hearing that kind of stuff when you’re little eventually gets to a girl, but I can’t say I ever expected my ‘bad end’ to involve an angry vampire with a severe case of iron deficiency and a panty-melting English accent.
Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised. Ever since my mother was assassinated, I’ve felt like there was something vast and frightening hidden beneath the fabric of the world. Something none of us are supposed to know about.
So far, finding out I was right hasn’t been nearly as satisfying as I’d hoped. I guess the trick will be staying alive long enough to shout ‘I told you so’ from the rooftops.
But before I can do that, I really need to figure out if the vampire who just bit me is one of the good guys or not.

The Last Vampire is a steamy urban fantasy romance series from USA Today Bestseller R. A. Steffan and Jaelynn Woolf, co-authors of the Circle of Blood saga.
Grab the complete series boxset today, and enter a world shared by humans, fae, demons, and one very reluctant vampire. It’s a place where the supernatural threatens the mundane, nothing is as it seems, and love will either be the world’s downfall—or its salvation.
USA Today bestselling author R. A. Steffan lives in New Mexico, where the sunsets paint the mountains purple, and roadrunners roam the desert endlessly in search of their coyote victims. When she’s not busy writing stories about people loving each other in all sorts of different and interesting ways, she can be found taking care of her small menagerie of critters.
A rebel to the core, she is currently sticking it to the man by illegally harvesting graywater from the kitchen and bathroom sinks to water trees outside. This fearless disregard for societal norms extends to her writing, as well. There, you will find polyamory along with straight, gay, bisexual, and non-gender conforming love of all flavors. You will also find families of choice, profound friendships, adventure, danger, and good triumphing over evil.
That, and sex. Lots of sex. Most of which is not the vanilla variety.
I started to read these books. In the beginning it was a bit slow going... not catching up with the storyline. Mid first book started to enjoy it. Was amazing and got to read it and not waiting for them to release. It was very interesting subjects Demons; Fae and Vampires .... and humans.... I enjoy these books.
I gave the series 5 stars because the main character is very different from the "Normal" female main character in paranormal books. I also enjoyed the mayhem, love ,hate and healing of relations. I didn't stop reading from the time I woke until I had to sleep. Enough said wait! I loved the series.
I really enjoyed this series. Its not predictable, has amazing characters, and even funny at times, although it is not a comedy. If you like vampire stories, this is a good one.
These six books primarily revolve around Zorah and Rans - how they meet, fall in love and fight their enemies. Lots of ancillary characters. I would not recommend these books if explicit sexual scenes offend you because there are more than a few.
These are books that should be read in order. I mistakenly read books one and two of Vampire Bound first, which raised a lot of questions that were addressed in these six volumes. Then I read book one of Forsaken Fae, not realizing that it is part of the same storyline. (It doesn't hurt to read The Last Vampire: Book Zero before The Last Vampire set either)
Now I understand why Len hates Albigard and how Guthrie fits into the storyline.
Why do vampires bleed? A lot of this story centers around vampire blood and its ability to heal or turn another into a vampire.
Rans also mentions that he will die if silver penetrates his heart. Why? His heart doesn't beat and apparently silver won't kill (but weaken) him if it enters other parts of his body.
Albigard explaining why he hates Caspian - Caspian had sent Albigard's twin brother & sister to deploy the weapon that would eliminate the vampires. "However, he conveniently failed to mention that the weapon would burn out their magic and kill them the moment they activated it..." "Or that it would wipe out an ancient and powerful race in a single stroke." The Fae court accepted these consequences, even if they hadn't been aware in advance.
Nigellus and the other demons seem to think their home-grown vampires may be immune to the weapon that wiped out vampires because they had lived in Dhuinne before residing in Hell. I think this may be improbable when you consider that the weapon was so powerful that it killed pure bred Fae. I doubt that the tithelings could survive it.
So, now I'm going to re-read Vampire Bound 1 & 2 and any other books in that series while I wait for book 2 of Forsaken Fae to come out in April.
A lot of detail about everything. It took away from the story. The heroine’s inner thoughts became too much. Also, they felt repetitive. We got it!!! You like to have sex and so much that men leave you because of it. Move on with another topic. DNF. It could have been such a great story. Everything was repeated at least three times.
This series had all the elements I usually go for when looking at the paranormal genre, and more importantly, an original element - the last vampire in existence. It was well written enough but it just missed the mark somehow. I think if I'd got the books separately, I probably wouldn't have completed the series. Therein lies one main issue I can identify. It could have been done in 4 books. Some scenes were just overwritten and there were elements of repetition in every book. You get the same scenes with the same characters and conversations too often. I liked the main leads and the supporting characters were varied and well written. I did end up skimming some of the pages, particularly in the last two books. I think the fact I'm stubborn and actually had the last books rather than waiting for the next release is the only reason I got to the end.
A page-turner until the end! Having recently finished the other vampire themed series by R. A. Steffan, Circle of Blood, I knew I was in for a ride. Fair warning though: this series is very, well, serialised. The first five books end in cliffhangers (although I'd personally put the end of Book 3 in the HFN category), something that tends to get many readers upset. Well, here's my unpopular opinion: there's nothing wrong with cliffhangers, especially when all the books of a series are already available. As far as I'm concerned, cliffhangers in this case only made me want to keep going. The world of The Last Vampire is quite nuanced: throughout the 6 books we are being taken on a rollercoaster ride that involves several trips around the human world, the Fae realm and even Hell. We're also being taken on car chases, motorcycle chases, boat chases and several quite explicit battle sequences. Would I, personally, have preferred to spend more time in the two supernatural realms and less in James Bondesque chases across the globe? Potentially yes. But like I said, this is a rollercoaster ride; you need to hang tight and know you'll end up in a good place in the end. You gotta respect a writer who can do thriller/suspense/fight sequences in such a way WHILE ALSO writing the hell out of the many, delicious romance scenes that may be taking place between the same people but are definitely not repetitive at all. Chapeau. Now, for the characters. When I started reading Book 1, I had some misgivings about how fast Zorah, broke waitress with chronic illness and low self-esteem, falls for the "dark angel" Rans. But you know what? In the long term, it works just fine. The character of Zorah deals with real, human issues we don't quite see a lot in books like these, and in the end, all these issues contribute to who she's slowly becoming (no spoilers). And while Rans may originally be suffering from a case of "too perfect/too tortured" male protagonist, these two grow together quite nicely. I was afraid that reading 6 books in Zorah's first person POV would be a bit tiresome, but instead I found her refreshing. Especially when she got over herself a bit and became-hey, no spoilers. Plus: as per usual in R. A. Steffan's work, many of the supporting characters are equally if not more fascinating. I would pay good money for an M/M romance between a certain demon of the first order and his demon-bound human magician servant... Or an enemies-to-lovers story between a certain shibari artist and a stuck-up Fairy... Just saying. P.S. I finished this series too fast and now I can't wait to sink my teeth into Vampire Bound, that's taking place in the same world and features some of the characters we've already met.
I will not write a "real review" as I have little in my memory as comparison. I was rather confused and upset to find out I had not 1 but 2 bundled series that were f/m plus a single Fae book all from the same author. For the life of me, I could not figure out how. It has been over 10 years since I have read any f/m romance. But... I dutifully read them, since they were in my wheelhouse otherwise. Both sets of series were interesting and held my attention. I especially liked the 2nd one with Vonnie.
As I started the Fae book, I finally understood what happened. It is m/m. The blurb also mentions the 2 previous series set in the same world. I love bundles. Everyone knows the saying about ASSumptions. Upon rereading the blurb for the 1st (which I typically just skim) I noticed it was in 1st person. Thus, it is not obvious that person is a female. MYSTERY SOLVED. Plus the cover only showed 1 male. I didn't even look at the 2nd series. Just grabbed them all in my Kindle cart. What a relief to understand what happened.
I will add that I am not at all sorry I read them. I am glad to have the background info going into the Fae book with Len and Alby as the m/c's. They were both interesting side characters out of the "Scooby Gang".
Book 1 I really enjoyed this book. There’s a lot of foundation laying in this first book which is needed to put everything in place. The humour is great. I was laughing so much! Gwendolyn is amazing, perfect performance.
Book 2 This series is really heating up. The characters are brilliant, Gwendolyn is absolutely fantastic, I could listen to her all day and night. Great storyline.
Book 3 Oh this series just keeps on getting better and better! I love the dynamic of these characters. Excellent writing and a fantastic performance from Gwendolyn. Book 4 here I come!!!!
Book 4 This series keeps getting better and better. These characters are so unpredictable just like the writing of this storyline!
Book 5 Omg....I’m hooked. These authors know how to write an addictive storyline. I’ve spent the whole of Christmas listening to these books. Gwendolyn is absolutely fantastic.
Book 6 What can I say? This book did not disappoint. This storyline was fantastic, the characters are likeable and the narration is one of the best I’ve listened to. I highly recommend this if you like your vampires with a sense of humour.
Unfortunately this wasn't really enjoyable, and the only reason I continued reading after book 1, apart from thinking/hoping it would get better, was that is was KU and boxset. But honestly, each book is way too short, and yet there are way too many parts that seem to drag.
It was a bit too insta-love for me, in that they hadn't known each other long enough to have really formed much of a connection, and yet they're making major decisions that affect both their lives. Just didn't make sense to me.
TSTL moments - from both of the main characters really (especially when showing some flashbacks). One thing I hate is when a character is new to the paranormal world, yet think they know better than someone who was born into the PNR world and/or is hundreds of years old, and go off on their own without discussing with ppl that would know better. And of course they then need to be saved.
It just really wasn't all that exciting, and didn't blow me away - just kinda made me regret wasting my time continuing to read it...
Rans and Zorah are such an interesting couple. There were a lot of surprises in their story. The first being how much BDSM was involved in their relationship. The second being how strong Zorah is as a quarter succubus. The ideas of vampires, fae, and demons living together isn't new, but it's definitely interesting how it was set up. I'm interested to know why other supernatural creatures weren't in this world though.
Having the complete series was really nice and I know that Guthrie's story is next. I actually started with Len's story but then decided to start at the beginning which really helped me understand their world and the fae and demon situation. I recommend this series to urban fantasy and action lovers.
*****The Last Vampire Complete Series (Books 1-6) by R. A. Steffan and Jaelynn: This series pulled me in… This is an entertaining storyline, both different and interesting. There’re actions without understanding, so lots of mystery. A small coalition: Fae, demon, vampire, human, hybrid everything. Against another coalition: Fae, demon - with intent for extreme harm. Soul bond, Demon bound, salt, iron, immortality, 3 realms/potential war, hidden agendas, and a plan. The costs are high, and the rewards are life itself. Good! An almost anti-climatic conclusion…. Best quote: “…if humanity has proven anything, it’s that propaganda works. With enough time and resources, any group can be convinced to hate any other group.” —PTators
DNF at 32% (very partially into book 3). I just don’t have it in me to keep going. This book is too dry without depth or true emotion. The sex scenes are … they’re just words?! I don’t know how to explain it. There is literally NO heat. There is NOTHING making me want to know these characters, to continue learning about their story or solving the mysteries, nor to see the two engage in sex. It’s boring and uninspiring and I have better things to do than plod through this. Which is sad because…
It could have been a much better story, but I can’t put my finger exactly on what is missing. The premise and even some of the events are intriguing and could make for a fantastic story (think Annette Marie!), but sadly, it’s falling short and failing.
Well plotted and executed these six books form an enthralling tale of adventure and love. I realised just how realistic the emotions of the characters were represented when Zorah made a comment to Ransley that I’d heard made between my parents at a crucial point in time. She told him ‘I don’t want you to die.’ My Mum told my Dad the very same thing. He in turn had told her he didn’t want to leave her either. The scene depicted was real life emotion between two people faced with a life or death situation, who loved each other. Ok Rans didn’t give that reply just then back but the emotion was expressed elsewhere. That’s good insightful writing.
Zorah Bright shouldn't exist. Finding a body in her shed is the start of a downward spiral. But when that body belongs the a centuries old vampire things change quickly. Part demon and part human, she is an enigma to the supernatural forces of the Fae and the Demons. As everything around her falls to pieces, her hope to reach her father. First the first time in years she needs his help. The books follow the story of the three, as they make new friends and enemies. Each person has their own agenda. Can they work together for the good of them all? A must read for all lovers of the supernatural world.
Great Characters and an awesome plot. Zorah and Ransley adventure is quick moving from book 1 and it just keeps moving from that point on. I love the character and I am sure some will have the spinoff books, I can bot wait to read Guthrie’s next.
Ransley the last vampire, comes in contact with the only demon human hybrid and she is not aware of it. Everything goes haywire because of that little complication on so begins this adventures. I do have to say I love hate Albigard and can not wait to see his story.
I give this just short of 4 stars. I love the story and underlying plot. The writing was deft and entertaining, keeping you interested right through til the end. I remove some of the star rating for 2 reasons; 1) most of the books in the series ended in a cliffhanger, 2) I was not expecting the increasingly explicit sex scenes. That being said, I realize that some of it was to be expected due to the protagonist's lineage and it was handled well. If I had had to wait between books I might not have finished, glad I did though
I absolutely loved these books. The characters were fun and relatable even in their darkest times. It's full of twists and turns. They have to deal with opposition coming from all sides. There are points when you really don't know who to trust and who is on what side, but there are exceptions to every rule. There is no one side that's all, "bad" or all "good". Kept me on the edge of my seat and turning page after page into the wee hours of the morning. Definitely recommended if you're into vampires and fae worlds.
I enjoyed this series very much. I listened to books 1-5 on audible I couldn’t afford book six but I had the whole series on Kindle unlimited so I read the last book. I love reading about vampires and other creatures. What a great story. I loved the characters that you have created. I reviewed the first five books on Amazon and now I reviewed the sixth book. You are a fantastic writer.
Truly enjoyed this series. Zorah and Ran, their story has so many twists and turns. Enjoyed getting to know the characters and the dynamics between Hell, earth, and the realm of the fae. Strong characters, interesting plot, great story telling.. hot scenes between lovers. Lovers of vampire books or just a good story will enjoy this series. Now on to the next series!
I read these stories as they came out and I’m so happy to see them put together. There is a definite story line that runs through these books and reading them in one group like this was very different from reading them as they came out. I picked up so much more as I read them this time and I highly recommend this series if you like vampires/demons/fae etc.
This story centres on Zorah who has an unknown mixed supernatural heritage. She has a chance encounter with a vampire which turns her lift upside down.
The characters are well written and likeable. I could help wanting to read more about them. The story has twists and turn. Funny parts and sad parts.
My only criticism, I couldn’t put the book down and now my home is in desperate need to cleaning.
This series rambled around a lot, 6 books of going back and forth, strange sex club scenes that turned into some very strange sex scenes between the main characters in amongst everybody wanting them dead.
Could seriously have been one or two books, as it meandered around and lost the point after book one, I flicked through the last three just to see how it finished.
Wow I have just devoured this box set and truly loved it. The characters and the plot are awesome and in a very short time i became invested in them a d their trials and tribulations. Honestly, they are the best books I have read in ages. Can’t wait to start the next box st. Thanks for the great, sometimes scary, sometimes sad, sometimes terrifying, sometimes loving read, it’s a rolla coaster and totally addictive and I loved it xxx
My second reading of this engrossing series was just as entertaining as the first. What a fantastic world of interesting characters in the human, vampire, demon, and fae interactions of this author’s intriguing writing. The main heroine and hero, Zorah and Rans, have to overcome many dire situations to get to their HEA but what a journey! The author manages to throw in humor with the tragedy to produce a captivating story of good over evil. Don’t miss this read !!
I was hopeful in the beginning of the story but alas it became so dull I actually skipped chapters to find something of interest. Skipping an entire book led to same boring sex scenes and the idiotic ramblings of the main character. Finally tossing this book in favor of something with a storyline. Don't recommend to others
If you live making fun of sparkly vampires and love a great sex scene, these books are for you. But that's not all! It's a love story in so many ways including parental love, self love, same sex love, frienemy love, and the deep abiding love of near eternal friendship. 5 stars
A fun sexy adventure of a woman trying to fit in with the world and a vampire trying to understand his place in it.
I enjoyed this. I found Slowed down a bit for me at the end, but I loved the story and especially the demon they bound their souls to. I know he was just a side character, but he was still my favorite.
An epic tale of two lonely survivors finding each other. Definitely some twists and turns in their journey. The scenes were pretty hot, especially the tub and cruise ones. Loved these characters, as well Edward and Guthrie. I’m so curious who the heck Neveah is.
