It's a clever take on a dog's journey from being lost to found -- from shelter to home. Ideal for pet owners, animal enthusiasts and growing families, Picture Book by Dog is brimming with heart and highlights the power of belonging.
So sweet! Dog feels heartfelt joy at finding his forever family and his tale promotes a great cause. Shelter adoption provides loving relationships and lasting bonds for lonely animals looking for warmth, security, and family. Adoption can change their life and yours!
I loved this picture book - especially because it was about an adopted dog and also told from his point of view. It had lovely, colourful illustrations too! This book reminded me of the shared experiences between me and my precious dog. A wonderful picture book and story for any dog owner or pet lover.
-great storytime read -if I ever stop crying, that is, I'll be able to read it to other people's children -short and sweet, great for preschool and toddler
Dog's personal narration of desperate early days, to time spent in a shelter, to being adopted and finding a forever home will win the hearts of kids of every background. There is humor and pathos and plenty of visual laughs, as well. Dog's encouraging note for readers to consider pet adoption from rescue shelters is certainly wise, too.
Dog shares his life story in pictures of how he went from being a lost and homeless dog to being adopted by a loving family. He shares his learning curve, and the patience shown by the person that has become his dearest friend.
I am a dog person. I enjoyed this book a bit too much. I imagine some of my dogs would write similar books. It was great to read Dog's first book and read his experience. I am hoping Dog writes more books.
Rhyming story written from the dog's POV about being rescued and then adopted and learning all the things he needed in his new home. Written looking back in time from the perspective of the happy dog.
Good for families that have adopted a dog or who are planning to.
This is such a cute, quick and adorable read! I would totally recommend reading this book out loud to a group, and that you can extend on learning to teach children what adoption is all about.
The illustrations in the book were super cute, as well as under the dust jacket! Also, if you really look you can see all the small details as well which I think is a nice touch.
I loved the fact that this was from the perspective of the dog getting adopted! It's a cute way to make children think about what our pets are thinking even if we can't talk to them.
Overall this was such a cute story, and I really loved that it was about adoption and not just getting a pet. It brings another discussion for children to understand what it's like to help a pet in need.
It's exactly what it sounds like; Dog here has written a picture book about their journey to their child-- the greatest person in the world-- and about all the wonderful experiences they've had together as they became family. Incredibly creative and heartwarming, pet lovers young and old will fall in love with this story, and those who have pets of their own will greatly relate to the journey of getting to know their own critters.
This is absolutely adorable. Written from the perspective of a dog who has been adopted by a family. Dog writes this to the child of the family, who is Dog's best friend. Cute, and some funny!, illustrations. There is a great game prompt at the end. Extra stars for Dog's bio.
5/5 stars! My daughter and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book so much. Last year we adopted a puppy for her and this just made my heart melt. I loved every page, every word, and every illustration. The fact that the book is narrated by the dog is just so sweet!
This story of pet adoption is written from the dog's perspective, and it is incredibly sweet. I loved the humor and creative illustrations, and teared up at the end.
The book starts off with Dog on the streets and being picked up by some "caring people" in blue uniforms it appears, although it isn't entirely clear who they are. Dog shares about crying and feeling alone at what seems to be an Animal Shelter, although it isn't stated, until the child "chooses" Dog. Dog learns what is for chewing and what isn't as well as where it is okay to poo and where it is not; Dog says the child taught the dog "good from bad". One page of the book touches on the child growing big and the dog's fur turning gray one day. The book ends with "the reason life has been so sweet is because we are family" which I thought was a very cute way to wrap it up.

It was a cute book. It was a super-duper sweet book. It sat. It stayed. It bounced along in a meter that rhymed mostly good. (I did that on purpose.)
It was a good book. Who's a good book? You are! You are. You're a good book! Yes, you are!
However, this was not a great book. I do not want to read this book again. Nor do I want to take it for walkies to my favorite daycare centers or introduce it to any of my friends or young patrons. This was not my favorite book.
Cute, but not all that original or special. I love a good book about a good dog in which the dog doesn't die, so that was a big plus here. The concept was cute being from the perspective of the dog. The meter was mostly OK, but a few places I wanted to take out my red pen and change a some things. I can see that kids would like this. Not quite three stars, but I rounded up because it's about a dog, and I love dogs.
This is an adorable story told from the perspective of a rescued dog. We learn about Dog's life before, during, and after its time at the shelter. Dog has to learn some important lessons when it moves in with the new family, but also learns the most important lesson of all, which is family is forever. This would be a great story to share with a young dog lover.
"Back then, you were my teacher. You taught me GOOD from BAD. We snuggled, played, explored the world... Now you're the friend I'd never had." In celebrating dog's transition from being scared and lonely at a pound to being adopted and loved by a new family, this is a heartwarming book that is perfect for a family who just brought a dog home.
For anyone that loves dogs or animals this is a book you'll appreciate. For families adopting a pet this would be especially meaningful. I love that in the back of the book it suggests you find tennis balls, squirrels and anything else. Kids will find something new every time they read the book. This is a great book for building empathy in kids.
You'd have to be heartless to resist Dog and his special creation. The text is sweet and smooth, and the pictures just draw you in to the story. Plus, it's a story about being found, appreciated, and loved forever. A must read for any family.
